To me tofu is simply a filler and for this restaurant it is the common ingredient for their main dishes that makes the connection to the name, Tofu House. Though my wife would (and does) argue, I feel tofu just 'taint a main meal item. To me, it's near tasteless... but, there are exceptions to every rule. You start adding all kinds of tasty ingredients, now you have something to talk about. Tofu House does just that, combines a wide array of vegetables, spices, fish, beef, etc. to produce a tasty, filling meal.

While you are waiting for the main course you always get 4 side dishes, pickled daikon, spicy cucumber, processed fish cake, and kimchi. I've never had a problem getting them refilled (multiple times).

The tofu bowls are served HOT! Hot, as in 2nd degree blisters if your clumsy. Even though these are "soups" they come chock full of goodies, depending on your order. To avoid having to wait 15 minutes for the liquid to cool enough to safely eat, I start off eating with the chop sticks, and don't use the spoon until the bowl is about half done... dang that stuff is hot!

There is always a basket of fresh eggs on your table available to add to your meal, which is served hot enough to cook the eggs within the bowl (did I mention how HOT the meal is served?).

The place is kept quite clean (not easy with so much business), including the two unisex bathrooms, and the service is friendly and efficient. Prices are quite fair. If you go at the wrong (read: popular) time you risk waiting in a line.

The only real negative is the parking. This small shopping mall has a few very popular residents, Tofu House being one of them, and anytime near dinner time the lot is often full. Often you have to park on the street, Convoy or Opportunity Road, and even with that option you may not find a place without circling a few times.

Overall I rate Tofu House very good... the wife (what does she know?) LOVES it.

P.S. Meals are served HOT!!!!!! Did I mention that enough?

Tofu house is the kind of restaurant that doesnt eat your wallet. The food you get is well worth the price of $8-$10 bucks! They give you these small plates of assorted appetizers that can be eaten alone or with your meal. I personally enjoy the korean bbq (boiling hot) soup or the stone rice dish, which by the way is HUGE! Upon receiving your dish, you are given the option to crack a RAW EGG. That's right..RAW. weird huh? But don't be afraid of the RAW EGG. it adds slimy goodness to your appetizing korean meal. i love korean bbq. you will love korean bbq.

SO..don't be afraid. Try something different once in a while. Who knows..it may even change your life.

One of my Convoy favorites.  I almost exclusively order the soups.  They are delicious.  The ingredients are fresh and authentic.  Just be careful- when they say spicy, they're not kidding.  The atmosphere is perfect for a casual and social meal.

Their name is a little misleading, as most of the soups are heavy on seafood as well as tofu.  It's not as vegetarian-centric as you might think.

I like that their website is http://tofuhaus.com not http://tofuhouse.com
Tofu Haaauuuuuussssss!!!
It makes me think: oontz oontz oontz *dancing feverishly*

First of all, I love tofu. It's delicious. With that in mind, I come here for one thing and one thing only: Boiled tofu
Specifically, the kim chi boiled tofu with beef is the OM NOM NOM!

I really need to branch out and get something else but it's just so good, I can't help but order it. I always look through the menu....I always giggle at the MYSTERY boiling tofu with (???) underneath it.
Yep, three question marks. wtf.
The other items look good too but when the waiter comes around....I hear myself ordering the same thing. again.

As I begin to second guess my repetitive choice making...my boiling bowl is placed down in front of me. Love.
I crack an egg or two and mix it in. I have to let it cool down...because it literally is boiling hot. But once it cools down a bit...deliciousness.

I love the free 4 small dishes they give you....especially the fish cake! nomsss
Special note: the prices are awesomly inexpensive!

There seems to be a lot of complaints about the service but that has never been an issue with me. I've never waited that long to place my order, my water cup gets refilled pretty often and they bring more free small dishes when I ask for them.

And yeah, the parking here really is THAT bad. I suggest parking on the street if you don't want to deal with bad driving and care about the overall well-being of your car.

I know my bff will be happy I FINALLY reviewed Tofu House. She LOVES this place and introduced me to it. Sorry it took me so long, bff ...but since you since you are back home in Hawai'i, I remembered to finish this up. Miss you :'(

Tofu House is my first Korean restaurant experience ever.
My friends could not get enough of this place and decided as soon as i moved to San Diego, i was to eat here.

i was baffled to see a basket of eggs chilling next to me and colorful small dishes of samples being placed on my table.
so i ordered the bbq tofu (by recommendation), spicy
was quickly brought out in a boiling small cauldron
and advised to crack an egg into the bowl, and bury the egg to the bottom center.  What?!?!

Now years later, i no longer order the bbq tofu.
haha... it's an alright dish, a dish i don't care for.

having explored the menu and eaten at other places, i order the veggie tofu, hot stone fisherman, or the hot stone meat party only at the Tofu House.

oh and i've turned out to love to bury the egg and once in awhile  have a dumpling or 2 in my tofu soup.

(so many innuendos in this review)

free lemonade and punch by the door, bonus!

This place is amazing, especially as a hangover remedy. They spice their soups without annoying chili flakes, so you don't have to worry about any getting inbetween your teeth. Their service is really good too. I usually get the kimchi tofu soup. Or the #1 original tofu soup with pork.

I don't know much about Korean food, but I've thoroughly enjoyed the food at Tofu House on several occasions. I usually get one of the tofu bowls, and each time they've been exceptionally delicious. The prices are very reasonable, the portions are huge, and I LOVE that they indicate which items are vegetarian-friendly (something that I always appreciate).

Oh, and sure, their service isn't that great, but who cares? The food is awesome. There are tons of Asian restaurants that don't have very good service. As long as they take my order, give me my food, and let me pay them, all is well.

Besides, what's not to love about a restaurant that has something called "Hot Stone Meat Party" on their menu? Amirite?

Tofu House has the best side dishes, however simple they may be.  I know a lot of people come here for the tofu soup, but I am quite content with any entree that includes that wonderful purple rice and the delicious side dishes (fish cake, daikon, pickled spicy cucumbers).  I would not recommend the free juice, as the red one is very concentrated and the sugary sweetness will leave your throat a bit sore after a few sips.  The service is sometimes lacking as it is usually very busy during peak hours and the restaurant always seems understaffed.  The servers do seem stressed and thus, appear to be unfriendly which detracts from my dining experience (even though it's not their fault they have so many people to help!).

You might as well throw your food in my face and just hand me the goddamn check, because THAT'S how insufferably bad your service is. Granted, Koreans are known for their fine-dining but not necessarily fine service, but this place had to be one of the rudest establishments I've personally been to in my short life.

I first risk death by going into their parking lot, narrowly avoiding the other cars and holding my breath the entire time because it's one of those typical tiny Asian plazas where there's simply not enough parking for everybody. When we finally found a spot, my friend and I jumped up and ran to Tofu House to beat the (usual) traffic. Luckily we got there a little before the lunch rush so we were quickly whisked to a table and given some water.

And then left alone for a good 15 minutes.

Yes, one of our party is missing, but can you offer us complimentary banchan while we wait and POSSIBLY refill our water? When our 3rd person finally showed up, even then the waitress ignored our looks of "Come-Get-Our-Freaking-Order!" so I had to raise my hand and CALL one of the waitresses over. She looked at me, and then spoke briefly to another waitress BEFORE coming over to us. Uh, NO, you come to the customers first before you share whatever gossip you have with your coworkers, but apparently you didn't know that.

"You ready for order?" she spoke in a bored tone. We gave her our orders and without so much as a 'thank-you' she stomped off to the kitchen. My friends looked at each other uneasily while I slowly simmered inside. Usually if I'm by myself, I don't mind shitty service but this is practically an insult to my guests and I feel rather embarrassed for them. Luckily they were cool people and we made small talk until our food arrived (fairly quickly too, at that).

The food itself was not that bad: the tofu soups were cheap, hot and filling, albeit a little lacking in flavor, and the banchan (side dishes) was decent enough. Of course, our waitress conveniently forgot to refill them. When we asked her for some more, she just dumped out the banchan into the already empty dishes and walked off. NEVER have I experienced that - even the other Korean places I've been to would make the very small effort to pick up the empty dishes and actually replace them with the new dishes. Whatever good feeling I had from eating/smelling the delicious food was immediately vaporized by the stunningly bad service my friends and I kept receiving.

So....... however good your food might be, your parking sucks and your service sucks to the point that I wish I wasn't even Korean. And that alone is enough to make me not want to come back.

See ya around, Tofu House.

Passed by here when on the way to Yogurt World. Saw a long line. Thought place must be popular.

Went here for lunch the next day, after a night of drinking, because my friend likes this place and wanted to come after passing it the day before. I ordered the Kimchi and Pork Tofu Soup. All I could stomach was the soup part, but it was really satisfying soup (thus the 4 stars). I like that they have a choice of rice (white or "brown," which was really "purple").

Despite the stone bowl causing soup explosions, I was a bit weirded out how the egg didn't really cook (which is why I didn't give it 5 stars for food)... I suppose for those who like it runnier (which I don't mind) it wouldn't be a problem.

Parking is disastrous. Taking note from the day before, we parked around the block and took a stroll over, which wasn't even that bad compared to having to deal with that little lot.

The price is good for what you're getting. Place is rather clean. Don't mind the cracked tabletops from the heat of the food. Service was okay.

2 words: overrated yucky.

We're there for Tuesday night dinner, and the place is packed: college kids, parents and kids, high schoolers. Cool, this place must be good. Boy was I wrong.

My BBQ chicken bowl tastes nothing like BBQ. It tasted bland, like a watered-down version of bludgeoned top ramen. After joyously cracking 2 eggs into it, I realized it looked a lot like a sinister witch's cauldron (with an eye of newt) or like a toilet bowl after a night of binge drinking. Either way, it was gross looking ya'll.

I can forgive a place for feeding me ugly looking things, but if it tastes like shit, I'll carry a grudge.

Korean fast food.  I've had way better.

The dolsot bibimbap was ok.  It lacked a lot of flavor, which is the last thing I'd expect from Korean food. The tofu soup was decent.  Kalbi was relatively cheap here and pretty tasty.

Overall, it's edible, but not worth waiting in line for.

Yummy...Yummy.. In my Tummy!

This place rocks.  I have been coming here for a couple years now and am never disappointed.  I order the exact same thing each time, Tofu #29 and love it.

Location: Convoy.  Right off Balboa.  There are a lot of Asian eateries here, which I have tried, but I always come back to Tofu House.  Parking is a bitch though!

Atmosphere: Nothing special.  Just a bunch of tables side by side.

Food: The bomb.  I love Tofu Soup #29.  It has a mix of all kinds of stuff.  Comes with a side of rice (I get brown).

Price:  It's a bit higher then I would like.  $9 for a soup, but it a full meal, so I am cool with it.

Waiting time: If you go during lunch, you will ahve to wait for a few minutes.  But otherwise it;s not too bad.

Overall: Great.  I am always coming back.

Bonus:  They give you a 4 appetizer sides for free.  you can always ask them for more and they will refill you.  I love the Kimchi and Cucumber.

Not even that great, seafood house special is terrible..it taste like crap, i could have made my own tofu dish. It was SOOOoooo terrible it has mushroom and mushroom doesn't really match with seafood and celery..just gross. The lady who serve us was very rude and depressive looking it seem like she doesnt like her job. Everyone say the food is good but the service here really stink only those who don't mind having served with crappy service will there for second..As for me I won't go there ever again!! I'd rather have good service..i guess those who work there haven't had customer service skills..

You know that feeling you get when you're cold, and all you can think about is something to make your tummy warm?

THEN you get that out of body feeling when you remember this amazing fucking soup that takes you to a whole other level of taste and warmth, and all you have to do is drive 10 minutes to get to it? Thats what this soup does.

Tofu House specializes in Boiling Tofu, a stone bowl boasting a boiling broth of red, containing your favorite ingredients. They have about 20 combinations of boiling tofu; my favorite is the Fisherman's tofu: Pollock Roe, crab, shrimp (whole, shell on!), clam, oyster, mushrooms, and, of course, tofu.

Accompanied by a fresh rack of eggs (which cook INSTANTLY when cracked into the soup), an array of Korean appetizers (served upon arrival; no charge), and a side of rice, this soup is SO HOT it literally takes about 30-45 minutes to eat. But it eats like a meal, and warms you to the core. Most importantly, it's absolutely delicious, and the BEST thing on a cold day. Thank God for fall/winter/cold weather in general.

Go get some. NOW

interesting place. kind of your typical, low-budget asian joint. parking in this strip mall is awful - crowded and the spaces are small.

hubby and i ordered a large asahi and gyoza to share. he ordered the 'meat party' hot stone and i opted for the special seafood combo.

the meals arrived in sizzling stone bowls. atop a mound of rice was an assortment of meat and vegetables (meat party), or baby octopus, scallops and shrimp (seafood combo). you need to stir the the rice regularly to keep it from burning in the stone bowl.

after the waitress took our order we were given four little dishes of korean garnishes: kimchee, pickled cucumber, preserved tofu and spicy zucchini.

the food was tasty given the price (apx $10pp). the tables are small, chairs uncomfortable and the restaurant itself is kind of dark and dingy. there's a random juice cooler and dixie paper cups by the door where one can help themselves to a beverage.

we opted to NOT crack a raw egg into our meals.

i'd come back if i was already in the area and jonesing for a quick, cheap asian meal.

It's been a while since I've had myself some good tofu... and I'm still waiting for some.

Apparently, the KFMB anonoymous eater suggests that this place is bomb, and I would politely disagree. I love beef soondooboo, but I felt like the marinade on the beef was too overwhelming, and it didn't mesh with my soup very well.

I doubt I would go back, especially since there are other tofu places in the area.

I've only had the tofu soups here, so this review is just for that. I want to try the bibimbap sometime soon though. :]

I always get the tasty tofu. It's SO good. I love it. Everything here is so flavorful. Really delicious. I'm not really a fan of the side dishes though, I only like the kimchi and the fishcake. The other two...eh, I don't really care for them.

The one thing that really bothers me is that the waitress/waiters don't EVER refill your water unless you ask. And even when you ask, they only fill it 1/2 way. Sad times. Well, you win some you lose some.

I still love this place.

This is a staple for me and my family. We always go here because it's cheap and the food's good.

The long wait might be a turn off for some people, but my family and I are willing to wait just to have our Korean food fix. Plus the wait is not as bad as Sushi Deli or Cheesecake Factory.

The key to shorten your wait time: Once you arrive, immediately go to the cashier and look for the wait list. Put your name and how many people and you're done. Some people take too long to get on the waiting list; hence, their wait time is longer.

I recommend the Bulgogi, Kalbi, brown rice, and fried Gyoza. Try their soups too. It's especially good when it's cold during the winter. I recommend ordering rice because you get side dishes when you do that. Also, once you get your glass of water, finish it immediately, so you can use that drink their free juice/punch located near the entrance/exit.

It's really cheap! If you share food, a party of four can get full with ordering just one entree, one soup, and brown rice. Plus you get side dishes, and free juice. With all that, our bill only amounts to more or less than $20.

this is a good example of a perfectly fine restaurant
it's reasonably priced, tastes good, brutally abundant, good service, what else?

if i was given an assignment to find the best tasting tofu in san diego, my only option would be only this place and the convoy tofu house for their curry tofu.

so what makes this place my first priority?
simple, it only costs you 9 dollars to build your own tofu,
which always comes up tasty
endless side dishes (kimchi, fishcake, even eggs)
no tax
i always ended up only paying 10 dollars including the 10% tip

what could you expect more from a restaurant as perfect as this?

So, I am finally starting to explore some of the San Diego Korean restaurants after a few years in LA.  Thus far, I have been pleasantly surprised with the food here in SD.  But, perhaps that is some hometown pride talking.

I had a very nice, appetizing lunch here.  I ordered the seafood tofu kimchee stew and was satisfied with the flavor.  There was a little too much tofu in the stew, which would have been OK had I not been in the mood for more ocean goodness.  The seafood that was in the stew was quite good and the stew itself was flavorful.

The side dishes were good -- some kimchee, radishes, pickled cucumbers (which I could have eaten the whole day), and what I believe was a bean curd dish.  Yum!

Service was friendly and relatively quick.  And for $8 you cannot go wrong.

In all fairness, I'm actually not a big fan of tofu, but I tried to walk in with an open mind as much as possible. The tofu here is decent, I didn't find anything wrong with it. The most recent time I went, I ordered the hot stone bowl rice with kim chi, and that was decent as well. The side dishes aren't that appetizing...maybe it's just that they keep it around for a while before serving it, I don't know.

Overall, it's an okay place to eat. I hate the small parking lot, but there is street parking next to the dealer. Also within walking distance to boba!

There is nothing fancy about Tofu House, it's almost like fast food Korean HotPot. But I keep coming back!

There is usually always a line for dinner, make sure you go right in and write your name on the list at the cash register to get on the waiting list.

So, don't expect this to be a 5 star restaurant, or the best service in the world, you come in, order, eat, and get out. simple.

Now onto the food! the menu is simple, there are basic Korean a la carte dishes such as bulgogi and the eel dish (unagi?). The pot stickers are also pretty good to start off with. The small dish appetizers come out with any entree and are plentiful, they even give you refills if you ask (i always plow through the little cut fish dishes). Their hotpot dishes have almost any variety you can ask for, my favorite is the #4 House special Tofu. I usually also order some hot green tea.

They have two drink stations at the back of the restaurant for people waiting and for guests to refill their cups, its like kool-aid or something.

anyway, i would not recommend getting extra spicy, regular spicy is plenty of spice. I was dying with the extra spicy and i can eat spicy food!

The prices are pretty good i never spend more then $15/meal.

beware of this parking lot though it's madness. I recommend parking on the nearby side street.

Tried Tofu house and don't realize what the hype is all about. The service is practically non-existent. The server could not manage a smile when taking our order, though she had plenty giggles with 3 other co-workers. She did not bother telling us that the lemonade was free; the reviews appear to suggest it was. Ouch! Down 1 star.

The seafood miso was good; you could tell the seafood they used was fresh. The banchan was the best I have eaten. Let me dwell on the banchan of which we had 4 varieties. Pickled cucumber was the star and the Chinese pickle (some sort of yellowish daikon) was delicious. Kimchi could be  bit more sour. And aghast as I am writing this, I loved their fish cake! Much better banchan that Korea House, I tell you. I could fill my belly on those banchan alone.

The food arrived -- gyoza, two stone pots (meat party and spicy chicken) and the pots stayed very hot for 20 minutes. They brought the bill out with the food. This sends a message to the patron: Eat fast and get the hell outta here. Thing is, the food is so darn hot that you can't eat it quickly. I was surprised and dismayed to realize that 90% of the vegetables in the hot pot was iceberg lettuce. Yes, that's what I said. I hate lettuce, particularly iceberg lettuce. When did that become the mainstay of Korean cuisine? Down 1 star

The beef they used was of poor quality. My wife noticed cartilage in her meat and the gyoza filling had cartilage too. That's not nice!  Down 1 star.

The price could be a bit lower but I am not complaining too much because the banchan was so good. Overall, two stars. I won't be returning anytime soon.

While I love Min Sok Chon for bigger parties and their Soju, I prefer Tofu House on any other night. The prices are far more reasonable and the food is deeee-lish (As Michele would say). Service is pretty good...I don't think I've ever waited very long to be seated here. But don't get me wrong, the place is pretty popular and it can get crowded.
The k-bbq is pretty good, but I really like their bibimbap! It's served in a hot, ceramic (?) type of bowl and the rice comes out sizzling and crackling. Sooooo goooood. Great. I just ate and now I'm hungry again!

$10 bucks gets you a hot stone plate and unlimited pickled appetizers. Love the pickled cucumbers: sweet and spicy.

Meat lovers, get the Meat Party hot stone plate. All their types of meat thrown in along with some veggies.

The fun part is cracking an egg and frying it in your stone plate.

I found another reason to go to Tofu House:

HOT
STONE
MEAT
PARTY

$10 of an amazing combination of meats. In your mouth. Sizzling hot.

MEAT PARTY. Who can go wrong with a title like that?!

I'm a big fan of Korean food! But the food served here was either too bland, salty, fishy or all three! We ordered the Chef Special + Kimchi and the Korean BBQ fried rice. We got excited when we got the bowl of sizzling soup. The first few tastes were good, the tofu was soft and flavorful. Then the fourth and fifth bite came and it was just too salty and fishy. They used clam that was probably dead for hours (they weren't fresh) and it made the soup extremely fishy, which neither me or my boyfriend enjoyed very much. The fried rice was bland. We used pepper flakes but that didn't help much. And.. I found a small hair on one of the meat. Obviously my boyfriend and I don't have really short, black hair so it couldn't have been ours.. That made me lose my appetite. The only thing I did enjoy eating were the side dishes, the kimchi was a bit bitter but the other side dishes were just perfect. The pricing here is cheap but I doubt we'll ever go again.

For weeks now, I've been trying to suppress a hankering for a big bowl of bibimbap.  Last night I couldn't hold back any longer, so I grabbed a couple of buddies and we drove down to the Tofu House on Convoy (as opposed to the Convoy Tofu House, also on Convoy, but another establishment altogether that happens to be located another block down.  Yes, it's confusing.  Just make sure you know where you're going.  This is the one in the strip mall wedged between the Irish pub and Yogurt World.)

The first thing you need to know is that the parking lot here is nightmarishly bad.  It's teeny, cramped, and mobbed with an oddball mix of Asian-American families and boozin' pub-goers even on a Wednesday evening.  Save yourself the headache and park on the side street.  There's plenty of free curb if you go down far enough away from Convoy.

Anyhoo, when I stepped in, I realized that Tofu House is a glorified Korean cafeteria.  "This place is supposedly about food, not setting," I thought, "so bring on the good stuff!"

My hopes were dashed when I realized that the food here is totally mediocre.

I had really high hopes for my bibimbap.  I ordered the mushroom version, which arrived in a big ol' hot stone pot preparation, complete with raw egg on top.  Unfortunately, the chef was very stingy with the mushrooms, and most of the vegetable consisted of iceberg lettuce.  Yes, iceberg lettuce...which was instantaneously charred when it touched the sides of the hot stone pot.  Joy.

So my dreams for bibimbap were crushed.  Instead of an awesome Korean specialty, all I had was a bland mixture of white rice and blackened lettuce.  I was afraid that Tofu House might have come down with a severe case of Epic Fail Syndrome, but it was redeemed (slightly) when I discovered that the complementary sides were actually quite delicious.  The kimchi, daikon, and fish cakes were yummy, but I liked the spiced zucchini most of all.  I would rather snack on these freebies all night than waste 10 buckaroos on a craptacular bowl of wannabe-bibimbap.

Mmmm.. I always get cravings for Tofu House during the winter months, especially if I need a break from my weekly dose of Pho. The parking lot here definately sucks.. a bunch of teenie boppers and OGs with their rice rockets.. so your best bet is to park on the street. There is always parking next to the car dealership.

I always get the Combo Tofu - you get the most bang for your buck. $7.00 and you get a sizzling pot of tofu, pork, and seafood. Crack a fresh egg into your bowl and stir it up. The brown rice is good, especially if you are used to eating white rice. The side dishes are great.. and you can always ask for more! Also, try the Corn tea. It's delicious!

Service is a bit lacking, but that's probably because there are usually only 2 waiters taking care of the front... so cut them some slack.

A meal for 2 ppl is around $15... and make sure you stop by Yogurt World next door for a yummy little treat :)

Been coming here for years. Food is still about the same. Service is terrible but the establishment is pretty clean (we had issues w/ the cleanliness years ago, won't get into yucky details thou)...

Anyhow, I believe all their dishes are priced w/ tax so that's nice.

We usually order :

1. Galbi - an ok portion for the price. Comes out sizzling on a hot plate. It comes on top of raw onions that cooks on the hot platter. Pretty yummy dish if you like your galbi fatty and sweet (tasting). I think it's about $10.

2. As you wish Tofu pot: you can get anything your heart desires in the hot tofu pot. $9 for this dish.

Free side dishes include:

- kim chi
- chili cucumbers
- sliced fish cake
- yellow chinese pickles

You have a choice b/w white and brown (appears purple!) rice with the tofu hot pots.

A few things:

- i usually get my tofu hot pot w/ less tofu or no tofu. I find that there's way too much tofu and I, personally, like the broth more.

- you can get range of spiciness from mild to extra extra spicy i think. I use to get extra spicy and it was ok. But the last time i went there, the extra spicy was painfully spicy so maybe they've kicked it up a notch or something. So be careful. I tried my friend's mild tofu hot pot and it almost tasted better b/c i could actually taste the broth/tofu and not just the spiciness

- in case you don't like tofu all that much, you can crack as many raw eggs into the tofu pot as you like. I use only the egg whites and the whites become kinda frothy and yummy in the hot broth (sorta like egg drop soup you know?)

A nice place to come for an easy, quick meal.

This place is always packed for dinner no matter what day of the week it is!

I always get a hae mool soon doo boo which is a Korean Seafood Tofu Stew.
All the ingredients of each hot pot are explained in the menu.

The service isnt overly attentive but they don't stand around.  They're running around the whole place bringing stuff out as fast as possible.
And if you want something in addition, just flag them down and ask.
Dont just sit there and hope that you are sending out some sort of telepathic signal that they will come by and ask you how everything is.

Food is bomb, so eat up :)

Well I came here last night and got a vegetarian version of the bimbimbap.  No so good. Another reviewer was right, a lot of the "vegetables" in this were iceberg lettuce. Iceberg!
My date had the all beef bimbimbap which was far from being all beef. He encountered some nasty bones which upon seeing grossed me out quite a bit but then after that he encountered a wee tentacle. Basically that find was the end of our meal. The kimchi was decent, but certainly didn't make up for the lack of decency in the main course.

I hate ordering tofu soups and request it to be extra spicy and it's not, this is the first time that i have eaten it and it kicked me in the ass.  It was definitely spicy, i had the Chef's Special + kimchi, it seemed as if the broth disappeared so quickly into the meal.  And i was just left with seafood and kimchi.

Their menu is very extensive of different tofu soups over 20 different kinds?  They only had 4 side dishes i wish there were much more but it was pretty busy even on a Thursday night at 900 at that.

This Tofu House has a dish called Hot Stone Meat Party.

I guess I can stop my review right there.  But I'm wordy, so I won't.  I shared two dishes from one of my friends, so that I could have more of a variety.  We had one of the stone rice dishes (absolutely amazing -- the rice became kind of crunchy down at the bottom and the hot sauce is tangy and not too spicy) and one of the tofu soups served with supposedly brown rice (but more like purple rice).  I'm glad that we shared, as both were downright excellent.  Oh, and I did try some of the Meat Party -- aptly named, that dish WAS a party in a stone pot!  Final note about the food, my kids had octopus in their fried rice -- you don't see that option on most fried rice menus (one son liked the octopus a lot, the other didn't care for them at all... I thought it was good, but I'd stick with the stone pots or tofu soups)!

Why the three stars then, you ask?  First of all, they only had four banchans.  This is fine, I suppose, as those are bonus dishes, but we usually get a little more variety at other Korean places.  Secondly, the waitress looked frazzled and not friendly.  But finally, the waitress forgot one of the rices for one of the dishes that my group ordered.  When we brought it to her attention, she misunderstood and brought us a whole extra dish.  Now that was a misunderstanding (I did see and hear my friend tell her about the rice, and it was pretty clear to me), but she gave us a lot of attitude over HER mistake.

We did have a pretty large group, so we'll be back to try this place again to see if we get a stink eye from one of the waitresses when she isn't stressed out with the large party.
