I love Amy Todd.
After years of doing Turbo Tax short forms, i found myself self-employed and in a Domestic Partnership... i.e. I needed professional help. Amy was the first and only person I spoke with. I trusted her immediately. As someone who knows zilch about taxes, she was very patient and explained everything to me, sometimes two or three times. She was very easy going about answering random questions by email. And while I got walloped with big quarterly tax bills (it's what they don't tell you about going into business for yourself!), in the end she got me and my partner nice return checks come April 15th.
A note, in case you're looking for someone to do your 2010 taxes: sadly, due to a family emergency, Amy is unable to take clients right now but if you're looking for a friendly, helpful, professional tax preparer for 2011... Amy's your gal! -

My husband and I came to Amy Todd because of the solid Yelp reviews. We had a very disappointing experience with her.
Our taxes are simple; some W-2s, a couple stock sales, that's it. Nothing fancy. We did our taxes with TurboTax but wanted someone else to do them as well since we came up with a large tax bill.
It was an inauspicious first meeting. We met her in Amy in her office with all our tax papers, and instead of doing a pro forma right there on her sleek laptop, she proceeded to write all our numbers in pencil in printed out forms. It took her 20 days to "figure out our taxes" - and this was starting in late February, and after we had given her all of our paperwork neatly arranged and ready to go at our first meeting.
While we were waiting for her to finish, my husband just did our taxes on TurboTax (which took all of 45 minutes and cost $75) and we found it matched what Amy estimated to the dollar. Total charge: $415. Ouch.
Worse, we had asked for her to help us adjust our withholding for a consulting fee of $150/hour. She charged us for a full hour (so our total bill was $565), and what we got for this $150 was a series of vouchers for estimated withholding (unexplained, and totally wrong), and after I asked about these, duplicatively, advice that we should increase our withholding and ignore the estimated tax payment slips she had sent us...calculated as though we would not make any 401(k) contributions which we had made the prior year, so again, massively incorrect.
When we contested her charges for the tax preparation and "consulting", she was not at all apologetic. Certainly given the simplicity of our taxes we believed we would be in the lower range of the prices she specified, but this was not the case. I do not mind paying for quality, but paying $150/hr for incorrect advice and slow tax preparation is not my cup of tea.
Quite frankly, Amy does not warrant a 5-star review. Do not be mislead. -

Up until this year, I was Turbo Tax-ing it on my own, an exercise that was getting pretty old. In addition, an old direct-sales business of mine was making it necessary to fill out a tedious Schedule C each year, exponentially increasing my anxiety about messing up and getting audited. I was ready to hand it over to a professional once and for all.
Amy Todd is whip-smart, professional, and truly kind. She's very much on top of her game, and working with her was easy. She sends you a questionnaire ahead of time to help you collect all the proper documents and information needed for your tax return. Then she works her magic, and in just a few days, you're done! I thought her fee was reasonable, and I was happy to support a local business.
Amy also does consulting, which is very helpful if you change jobs, start a business, or have any other major adjustment to your financial situation. Her knowledge of tax laws can seriously save you a lot of headaches down the line.
Highly recommended! I plan to work with Amy for years to come. -

Preparing taxes are pain, but they are something we all must do if we want to stay out trouble.
Two years ago, I found Todd Tax Service via Craig's list and I have been very pleased with the results.
Amy (Todd) can decipher thru mounds of paper work and receipts that I literally throw into a shoebox and produce clean and organized tax return.
Amy is up to date on the latest tax laws and my wife and I have received a hefty return check each of the last two years.
This year I came to Amy on April 8th and she completed our return in two days.

Definitely check out Todd Tax. The principal, Amy Todd is very good to work with. She really knows what she is talking about and is very clear about the work she can do for you. I feel that I am working with a very genuine person when speaking with Amy. Though I don't go to tax preparers for fun and conversation, it helps that Amy Todd has a pleasant personality in addition to knowing what she is doing. Additionally, I have referred several people to Todd Tax, and they have had good things to say about her as well.
