3 reviews for Todd Grove Park
Ok, we've been in Ukiah for all the seasons now, so I can look back and see if Todd Grove Park turned out as promising as I'd hoped. And the answer-- yes.
In Summer it was a refuge from the heat, with all the redwood, cedar, oak and many other different trees to sit or walk under. The concerts were great, and we were lucky enough to be within walking distance because the crowds & traffic were big. And the pool... I actually took swim classes and the facilities were great. The play equipment... I have to say, it's been a big hit with Darren. Every time we go, he tries something new -- "he is so daring"-- and he's still in the tots section, so there's a lot more for him to experience as he gets older.
I never get tired of stopping off here after a run to town or the store, let Violet out for some exercise while I perch on a bench & check my cell phone messages. Winter is cold here, so the park is not so appealing, but i did stop today & we had a brisk walk around.
I think this has turned out to be one of my favorite city parks and that's saying alot, since I've loved Balboa park in San Diego, Tilden & Arlington park in Berkeley... But this is home now & I'm content that we have this.

Being new residents to Ukiah we had the great good fortune to find a home to live in down the street… Read more »
The park has great facilities for all sorts of leisure. It's quite enjoyable in the evening and early morning.
During the day, though, the north half of the park always seems to transform itself into a "life avoidance zone." If you hate the smell of marijuana as much as I do, give it a pass.
I hope this only just happened to go on when I was there, and that it's not a normal thing. But it's depressing to see.

In other words... it's just the best-est park EVAH!
When I sit underneath one of the many giant trees scattered through out the park, I can't help but have flashbacks from a bazillion past visits to this, my favorite "happy place", Todd Grove Park.
Before she could do anything but drool and giggle, I would bring my daughter to this park where she would swing, drool, and giggle her tiny self into a happy little slumber. Then as she grew older, I would bring her here to run off some of that endless supply of energy until she would collapse into a worn out heap of dusty slumber. She also spent many a summers day at the Safari Day Camp, a daycare program that working moms, like myself, bow down in appreciation of!
Now my daughter is grown, yet I still drag her teen aged Gothic self to many of the free cultural happenings. We both enjoy the free concerts in the park and the occasional play that take place on the permanent concrete stage. Though she's old enough to skip those daily naps, Todd Grove still proves useful as a parenting tool, for it will still bring a smile even to the most tragic of brooding teen Goths.
