Went to SOURCE tonight for dinner. Irie Gengler has remade Toast into Source and it was fabulous. Serving tapas (small plates), we were able to order a number of dishes and share them to get a taste of everything. The diver sea scallops were amazing, the squash soup was to die for, the halibut was wonderful, and we also had a great salmon and ceazar salad, along with the cheese trio. Dinner was paired with a really good M2 Viogner. Desert included butterscotch creme brulee, pumpkin pie, and homemade toffee. I loved it! Our entire party raved about the food. I would highly recommend checking it out. They also have large tables for parties of 6-8 making it a perfect place for a group! Can't wait to try the brunch one of these days. Also, the wait staff was friendly and fun.

Nestled in the Quarry Ponds shopping center, it's a great local spot for dinner. Kuddos to Irie for an innovative menu that changes daily!

Okay, I am new to Granite Bay and life in the burbs does require some adjustments (some positive and others...not so much). Good food for one thing is hard to find in Granite Bay. If it weren't for Hawks and a handful of other places my family would starve on days we don't cook at home.

I have been to Toasts numerous times and every time we go, I secretly pray for good food, even okay food for that matter...Just some place nearby we can go for a meal without driving too far.

Unfortunately for Toasts they just can't pull it together and produce a consistent meal. Perhaps its because its absentee owned or the owner(s) just lack experience...I'm not sure.

After the name change back to Toasts and the awkward switch around entrance change I ordered a pretty decent salmon sandwich for a reasonable price. I was actually impressed and told a number of people that Toasts was getting better and worth checking out again.

Then on my return trip the salmon sandwich was a total disaster. The salmon was completely raw and cold to the touch. It was served on a below average kaiser roll, not heated or toasted, just cold and a bit stale. Now, I know they are not serving wild, sushi grade salmon and the last thing I want to eat is a raw piece of fish on a cold bun.

My colleague ordered a different sandwich with a bun that was completely burned on both sides. Not slightly, but completely charred black. Furthermore, they must have had a surplus of sun dried tomato pesto, because they put it on everything.

Now I am not a perfectionist, but at a minimum I expect any Chef worthy of the title of Chef to care enough about their customers to fix what they eff up. That means, touching the salmon to verify it is cooked and re-toasting the bun when it is burned black.  I could easily go on, but you get the point. The rest of the staff on the other hand is quite good, hence the two stars.

Toast is no longer open. "Source" Tapas has opened here.

Went to Source for brunch after church. It took quite a long time for our food to come out after ordering (~25 mins). The food was good but really small. I understand the tapas concept and for dinner I would be fine with the portions but for breakfast, spending $10+ for a mushroom omelet that left me hungry is not my style.
As mentioned, service was slow and it took a while after asking for the check for it to finally arrive. Once it did arrive there were a few mistakes on it. The staff was friendly and again the food was very good.

I may try this place out for dinner but won't go again for brunch.

The wind, through my hair (what's left of it), the sun, shimmering off the pond, the gentle rustle of my napkin as I wipe hollandaise sauce off my mouth, the INSANE POUNDING OF THE LOWER PIANO KEYS BY A SCREAMING CHILD all made for a lovely breakfast.

Why?  Why?  Why on earth would you leave a piano in the middle of the open air restaurant area for all to beat up?

Then, as if sent from the heavens above, the child's grandmother comes, sets the kid right, and begins to play that "ice cream truck song" about 45 decibels too high for the morning crowd.    Now I have two people on my Sunday morning hit list.

To be fair, this is a review of their breakfast menu, not the dinner or as they like to call it "events" menu.

Just because you have a restaurant, a kitchen, and a staff willing to come in at 6am, does not mean you have the makings of a good breakfast joint.  The menu has only 7 items and one of them is a cheese sandwich.  Don't come here if you are looking for biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and a good sloppy omelet.  I'll probably come back for dinner because the location is cool but other than that...meh.

    Service was ok.
    Food was decent.
    Piano was horrible.

Got out to Toast for brunch and loved it!

The location is awesome, I'd love to come here in the spring/summer for brunch on the patio.  The wait was a bit long, however we were a party of 8 and seemed to have run into the after Church crowd.  The cool thing about it though was that there are a lot of cute boutiques and shops in Quarry Ponds that helped pass the time away.

We were seated next to the piano guy, which was ok as far as music goes, but when he started singing it got a little weird.  The presentation on the plates was very neat and I think is a nice change from the usual breakfast slopped on the plate look.  Everyone at our table loved their food and we agreed it was worth the wait.

Breakfast is served til 2pm then they close til dinner. I got a glimpse of the dinner menu and looks like all but one entree on there is above $20.  I would recommend making reservations for breakfast especially if you have a big crowd because the restaurant is not that big.

    Toast is back in business...

Back to it's old name TOAST with New Chef! New Management!

They serve Odwalla orange juice which I love... so much better than concentrate.

I ate the Eggs Benedict.  SO YUMMY!  The potatoes were excellent and tasty as well.

Really friendly and pleasant service.  Toast has returned to my list of top breakfast spots!

I like this new place for breakfast /brunch.  Located in The Quarry Pond Center in Granite Bay. Beautiful outdoor dining. Easy going attitude of wait staff. Piano player outdoors on the patio too. She was just starting as we were leaving. . Nice simple upbeat menu. Healthy choices, and substtuitions are okay.  Nice place to take kids too. Definitley not your run of the mill greasy spoon joint! Clean and fresh.!
Will repeat!!! They also have live jazz during the week. Check it out!

This restaurant has all the pretenses of an upscale dining experience: contemporary decor, sharply-dressed waitstaff, menu items with fancy names, and prices to match. But, sadly, the service belies its outward appearances.

The food is reasonably good. Can't fault them there.

Service is lackluster. It can take a while to be seated and you might have to wait again to have your order taken. You'll get the same quality service for half the price at Denny's.

If you don't mind paying inflated prices for an overall average meal, Toast may be for you. But you can drive a bit further into town and get a better value elsewhere.

I have wanted try Toast for a while and since I got to pick the restaurant for Mother's Day this is what I picked. This was not a good choice. I chalk it up to a rookie mistake as this is only my second Mother's Day.

As bad as today was, I do hope I can try their regular breakfast menu in the future. The setting is lovely and the food we did have had potential.

We had a 12:30 reservation and they were serving until 2. A buffet was today's only option - something I would have passed on had I known (hey, Toast, a website would be great! Thanks.). But we had a reservation and we were already there.

We sat down and the waitress took our drink orders then off we went to the buffet line. This is where things started going wrong.

The scrambled eggs looked like they had been sitting a while and had a greenish tint. Pass.
    Eggs Benedict? They're out
    Other egg dish? Out
Potatoes - almost gone (and super bland)
    Standard bacon/sausage/ham is available.
Rice pilaf anyone? Plenty of that left. No thank you.
The French toast was OK - Lucky I got a piece on the first trip through though, it wasn't available again.

    On to the salad table:
One bowl of sad looking little shrimp
    Assorted unappealing salads.
    Fruit - out.
Two platters of pretty good steak slices.
Strawberry shortcake "dessert" area - out of strawberries

We sat down and started eating. About 10 minutes later the eggs benedict came out so I went to get one as well as some bacon and french toast for my husband. They were now out of plates, bacon and the toast. I did get the eggs benedict, which was overcooked and came with some truly mediocre hollandaise.

We were all nearly finished before we saw our waitress again - and reminded her that we never got our coffee or mimosas ordered when we sat down. We overheard the waitstaff saying they had run out of clean glasses. Our waitress did deliver our drinks and made sure we got at least one refill (very nice since by that point they were running out of sparkling wine and orange juice).

It was really nothing short of a disaster. They were woefully unprepared. The food they did provide was decent but they were out of so many things and the kitchen obviously couldn't keep up. No one expects Mother's Day brunch at a nice place to be a bargain. No one expects the food to be perfect. But one shouldn't leave feeling completely cheated. And disappointed.

Kind of a general service breakfast and lunch place.  Nothing special.  The food was not memorable.  It's OK but not some place I'd go especially.

The so called "lake" behind the place was nothing but a pond.  It's again just OK but nothing special.

This place is a Granite Bay joke.  I was so excited to try Toast because it has such a great location.  Quarry pond is beautiful and the new shopping center has so many other great places.  The prices are set to match Granite Bay (pathetic) but the service was by far the WORST i have ever had.  It was fine at first, then after our waiter, who seemed to be recovering from a night of heavy drinking and drug use, found his words to ask us if we wanted anything to drink.  Took about 5 minutes to get coffee.  He finally came and took our orders - not sure why he bothered...he just forgot them 2 minutes later and had to have us repeat them.  Sad.  As the bus boy dude was re-filling my coffee (finally) he managed to spill coffee from the pot all down my leather purse and as he was cleaning it up managed to spill some more.  C'mon, people, get your act together!

Food came and while the eggs were good, the yogurt and granola with seasonal fruit (a.k.a 3 strawberry halves) left much to be desired.    I noticed a couple being seated at the table next to us, which hadn't been cleaned up from the guests before them.  They then waitied about 10 minutes (no joke) for a server to get them something, anything...some freakin' water for these people, please!

The piano would have been neat, if it was dinner i was at, but it's breakfast.  I need coffee and quiet before you start blaring piano in my ears.

So, basically...this place needs to shut down for a little bit, train their staff to be as professional as they look in their white collared shirts, and perhaps work on food presentation.  Blah...won't be going here again.  Total disappointment!

I tried Toast for the first time three weeks ago.  It was yummy with a beautiful view.  Service was great.  Our server, Jon, seemed pretty slammed, but handled it very well!!!  Ask for this server!

    I will be back.

I have the chicken salsa salad (i believe that is the name) and my friend had the salmon sandwich.  both were YUMMY in our tummies!

No piano person while we were there (Saturday during lunch).

    Cute restaurant.

Had breakfast on a weekday. Good service, very nice and helpful.

Would of been nice to have table aganist the windows since the view is incredible. The table I was at for 2 was a little bit small.

I had eggs with apple chicken sausage with wheat toast. Eggs, sausage and potatoes all fine(add something special to potatoes they were plain), the toast was a wierd bread that was flourless????????
I don't know but it did not taste great. Please call The Bread Store and place an order asap!!!
I think it would be nice to ask what kind of jam a person would prefer too.

    On Breakfast:
Went here recently for breakfast. Service was horribly, horrendously slow. The 12-year-old looking servers served like they were ACTUALLY 12 years old. One of the hostess who was working was "not with the program" and skipped over my friend and I until we pointed out that we were not with the party ahead of us.

Took a while to get our order taken. Got the French Toast which was mediocre at best. Only plus was that they only charged me .75 cents for the egg on the side and they gave me fruit with my French Toast.

****You would think that a restaurant named after a breakfast staple would have a more impressive breakfast menu. Or at least do what they were doing better****
2 stars for Location and piano music

    On Dinner:
More like tapas almost. Unimaginative and expensive. We all left hungry. Wont go back. Best thing was olives that were probably bought from somewhere else. Still, since it was a special night I got to hear my friend play piano.

-1 star for expensive small plates when I could have made better at home.

Went for dinner with a few friends on Sunday, May 30th.
The legendary Gordon Groft was playing music. What a nice touch to round out the great food. Ordered the chef's special, fish and chips. Alaskan cod in a crunchy batter on a large portion of fries.
The service was excellent and well informed.
Next time I am in Granite Bay I will be back to try the burger.

Went to Toast for a work meeting. It was recommended by someone who lives in the area. I worked with them over the phone to prep for my party- which is always sketchy for me. They didn't open until 8:30 on a weekday, which I hear is pretty common for the area. We were seated in a pretty area near the balcony that overlooks a body of water (lake, pond or something). The service was a little slow because there was one server, someone in the kitchen, and a mute busgirl came in later. I saw a coffee cup on the table next to mine wih a lipstick stain (I think I was the only one from my party to see), so that definitely docs some stars. The bill was about $112 for 6 of us, but the breakfast menu was lacking. I would have been happier at an IHOP.
P.S. They only do breakfast and dinner...

My family and I have occasioned the experience of breakfast at Toast since it's opening along with Quarry Ponds itself. Unfortunately, over the course of those years, nothing has changed significantly.
Toast remains more of a place to be seen, more so than an establishment that will provide a satisfying meal and dining experience.

We have dined here for breakfast (brunch) as well as dinner, and on each visit the wait staff is always amiable and pleasant. However, it can take them a decent amount of time to get your food out. Without over-exaggeration you could be waiting anywhere from 20-60mins to get a couple of omelettes.

The food itself is decent enough, portions themselves not really in line with the price you're paying. It really comes down to the atmosphere and the overhead that you're paying for. Which itself isn't amazing.

Give them a shot for a late brunch on a weekend, but don't expect to be blown away. You're really just paying for the overhead.

Came here on the fly after finding it on yelp because I already went to the Ugly Mug (Harvest Grill) and didn't want to go in twice in the same weekend for breakfast!

I wanted to give it a fair shot but also had some expectations for being in the Quarry Ponds area.

The restaurant was beautiful! We chose to sit outside because it looked nice. We were seated right away but in the middle of a couple of larger tables already occupied. We got water right away in fancy cups and everything seemed to try to be a little more upscale... since that's what Granite Bay is, right??

Small menu with nothing that really got me thinking that anything would be that great. I got the Whole Wheat Pancakes with Honey & Whipped cream. I don't like whipped cream really and was going to ask for everything on the side because I'm a freak like that but the waitress recommended it all together so that's how I got it.

Came out rather quickly, can't complain about that. It tasted okay... but really left a bad taste in my mouth. The whipped cream was all melted like it had been sitting under the heat lamps for a while and maybe it was because it was whole wheat batter and I just wanted some pancakes it just wasn't working for me. The pancakes were flat and mushy because all the honey had soaked in and there was just an abundance of it everywhere.

The waitress was nice, just seemed to be a little absent minded. Walking around not confident and didn't check in once we got our food and she seemed to be off doing something else when we were ready to leave

Food alright, small portions and not really a 'breakfast' type place, if you think you are fancy this might be your breakfast joint. The service was lacking. Price was ok, for 2 people it came out to about $25. But like the stars say:  'meh. I've experienced better'

The wait in between anything I asked for was so long, I felt ignored, but she kept smiling, hahah was a bit weird.

The restaurant is located beside a beautiful man made pond (Quarry Ponds) with ducks and geese playing in the water. The location is splendid. The food is quite good and very well presented. They serve fresh fruit and none of the frozen & thawed stuff. The bread is of superior quality.

I give 4 stars because they can do a better job at quicker service, otherwise they defenitely deserve 5 stars. They are gracious because the first time we were there our food arrived late, and they could see the frustration on our faces as we were quite hungry, and so they refused to have us pay. I felt that was quite considerate of them.

The next time we had ordered Soy Milk and they were out of it and so gave us a cappucino instead. When the bill arrived they had not charged us for the cappucino and upon our insistence agreed to do so.

It is a fantastic place for brunch. Have not tried dinner there yet. I'm sure they are good with dinner too. The price is steep, but well worth it.

While the setting is very nice, the service and the food at breakfast were pretty mediocre. I did try the Pulled Pork with White Corn and Goat Cheese on Flatbread, which was different and quite tasty (but why is it the cheapest thing on the menu?), but my husband's plain old Poached Eggs (watery runny), Potatoes (overdone), and Toast (sliced bread) were nothing to write home about.

It was fine. Just not extraordinary. I'd go back if I was in the area again and that's what I had in mind. I was just expecting more (more unique menu items, artisan breads) because it looks so good. It's less casual than Cafe Bernardo, but the food's not up to their level yet.

P.S. Please stop making the staff wear those awful beige polo shirts.

Had dinner the other night and dont bother wasting your time and especially your money. The service was great, but the dinner was way overpriced for the food, Dinner was about $90 for a couple of two. That was with our own bottle of wine. You would be better off going next door to Hawks Restaraunt where the food and atmosphere is much better. I give this place about 3 more months before the doors are shut. When we dined, there was only 3 other tables occupied on a weekend night at 8pm. That speaks for its self. The place felt more like a restaruant at a golf course than fine dinning. Sorry, but it missed the mark.

I am stunned by the reviews.  I ended up here today wandering around looking for breakfast.  I found Toast from a recommendation from Crush 29.  It's such a sweet little spot with a great view; a clean pretty restaurant that serves delicious breakfast until 2pm.  The service was friendly and super fast.  The breakfast was a perfect portion with a generous serving of tasty fruit (substitute for potatoes).  I was completely at peace, enjoying a lovely breakfast.

My boyfriend and I ate at Toast on a weekend home to see family and were pleasantly surprised.  Under new management, this restuarant is definitely worth trying.  It's located in a quiet shopping center and overlooks a pond, making dining outside very enjoyable.  The menu is simple but delicious.  The sweet potato fries were a nice warm up to our entrees.   I had the roasted chicken and thought it was outstanding while he got the mushroom risotto (also delicious).  We were too stuffed for dessert and after dinner enjoyed the live music they had inside.  The staff was very friendly and attentive...the chef even came out to make sure we enjoyed our meal.  All in all, a great experience!
I hear they have a great breakfast- I can't wait to try it next time I'm home.

We came to see the band "Mere Mortals" play in the patio area on this warm yet semi-breezy summery Saturday evening.  It was a perfect setting with the 3/4 moon and stars behind the band along with the sillouhettes of pretty oak trees.  Once in a while some wildlife would fly by and they seemed to be in sync with the great blues music we listened to.  I'm a patio person so this was the place for me.  Once in a while we'd get a nice cool breeze and could smell the water from the pond behind the place.  It gave me the sense that I was near a river!  The music was great, the wine was great and the beer was too.  We didn't eat dinner, however, some people did and I noticed a very nice presentation of salads and entrees.  They gave us complimentary bread with dipping oil and balsamic vinegar.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the great entertainment (free I might add!) and some people even danced.  VERY enjoyable evening!

No reason to come here and pay 4 times as much for the same quality food and service you would get at a Denny's. Actually, maybe a bit worse.
