Thank god TJ's does not deliver, otherwise i'd be eating it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. When i'm away from home for long periods of time i find myself wishing i knew how to grill a Louisiana Lightning.
Amazing heros, but I wish Patti still worked here :( she was always one of my favorite people here. -

*****edited*******Sorry guys I originally gave this a bad review by accident. It was meant for another sub shop and I am glad so many people responded to it to let me know.
This hero shop right out side William Floyd high-school was actually really good. Though the older lady working the front never cracked a smile and was very rude the rest of the employees were very pleasant. The hero selection was very good everything from the famous breakfast special to a Italian hero. Anyone not living in NY anymore is probably craving a "breakfast special" just like me. I always loved the "2 eggs ham, cheese, potato, salt, pepper, catsup, on a roll" yummy for my tummy but horrible for my heart. Oh and one more thing, never I mean never, order a Italian hero with mustard.......it might as well be high noon at the OK Coral and you are about to shoot it out with Billy the Kid. The store will go silent and a tumble weed will tumble right by you. So please go to TJ's and enjoy a hero. -

Best hero shop ever, everything is always fresh and tasty. I recommend the Louisiana Lightning!!!
Prices are average hero prices, I don't understand how places like subway even exist with places like this around! -

The aroma of fresh carcass outside beckoned me inside, tempting me away from the pizza joint across the way, which smelled all-too-characteristically of sauce and cheese with some spices.
As expected as such places, non-meat options are slim (and patrons are far from it). I went off the meager options and selected the Ultimate Veggie Hero with provolone for $7.25+tax, to-go (I'll likely check out their grilled cheese if I stop back in for some reason). This spot was BU-SY (pronounced accordingly) and the staff was friendly. I waited as they speedily filled up my hero with some tasty fillings, but I still wish I'd called ahead, even for such a no-steps-required item. The chip selection was respectable, and you should join their e-list, 'cause that's never a bad idea (though I've received zero correspondence thus far to indicate it's all that productive an endeavor). Read the B&M specials before ordering, unless you're really set on your trademark order. -

I got there like 10 minutes before close (yelp had listed close at 9, when it's at 8), and while I'd normally not want to be a bother and go elsewhere, I decided to give it a try. I ordered a Manhattan to go, and I gotta say it was pretty tasty. Melted cheese and gravy, and even with 10 minutes in the car, didn't get soggy.
No need to order a full one unless you're super hungry. I mean I was pretty hungry (noted by my going even so close to close), but the full sandwich was a little more food than i really wanted. -

Did you ever know your my hero?
A solid Hero Shop, quality ingredients and outstanding service. Comparatively the heroes are a couple bucks more. However, They have daily specials which even it out.
You are the wind beneath my wings...Listed in: My NY Best of '09

As so many Floyd students before and after me, I paid TJ's numerous visits during my high school years. Far too many to count.
I left NY 10 years ago, and after all this time, it's always the first place I go for lunch when I go home for a visit.
Do NOT miss the Manhattan - roast beef, gravy and melted mozzarella cheese on a garlic toasted hero roll. To.Die.For. It's so good that the last time I visited without my husband, he requested I bring one back for him. Yes, on the airplane. We're talking "slap yo momma" good. The staff thought it was interesting when I asked them to wrap it extra well, but when I told them what was up, they thought it was wicked cool, and the better half and I dined that night on none-the-worse-for-wear Manhattans in Wisconsin.
If it's the right time of year for soup, the clam chowder is incredible as well. As a matter of fact, I've never had anything less than excellent from TJ's. If you pass up the opportunity to partake of their offerings, well, there's just no hope for you. -

Yeah, this place makes a mean hero. They've got 20 "special" heroes (which are mostly amazing) as well as just about any other sandwich you can think of. The only downsides are that it's fairly out of the way to get to, and the prices are a bit high ... but that's why we go there for lunch on Wednesdays, when the heroes are "buy one get one 1/2 off": with the right number of people (even numbers only), they come to about $6.50 with tax, which is a great deal for a delicious, huge sandwich.

TJ's Hero hold a firm grip on the hearts of many a William Floyd Alum, like myself. The Manhattan is a must as is just a simple turkey club. catering is solid with excellent food as always. The prices have risen as in HS a half hero, chips, and 16oz Iced tea was $5. Now that was good deal. I enjoy purchasing a hero then going to the beach, Smith Point to enjoy the bounty...

The heroes are a bit expensive now, but they fill it up and they are delicious. Bring this to a hangout of yours and people are bound to get jealous at your meal.
They also have two additional locations on Main Street in Patchogue next to KFC, and Middle Island on Route 25. -

Six Hours away and I still love T.J's heros. I used to eat here along with the masses at William Floyd and loved the T20, Lousiana Lightning. There's just something about the stealth sauce I guess! Ice Tea is the best i've ever had. Stay on long island, I hope you keep Patti as long as you can, and I think we'll always love you =)
