TJ's Auto Repair, Towing & Recovery

This is a typical tow and fix type operation that signifcantly over charges for the towing and offers you a lower price to sign over your vehicle title to them. Definitely a shady operation that I would never choose to use and wish that I had never had the displeasure of experiencing. I know from personal experience TJs charges more than double the rate Marler towing and likely others in this area. The driver tried to alternately sell me a vehicle and get me to sign over the title to my truck several times during the service.

They're frauds and incompetent and I have recorded evidence of everything I say.

They sold me dry-rotted and crudely plugged tires that won't even hold air in them, and then they justified this by claiming that the used tires that they sell do NOT have to be functional nor fulfill their purpose [of holding air inside of them] - according to them that's because they have a sign that says 'no refunds on used tires'.

It got even more absurd when they started blaming *me* for paying them $200 for their worthless tires. Yes, that's right, they blamed me for their having sold junk tires to me, while they knew that they were junk and presumably knew that the tires were extremely dangerous to even drive on because that's common sense. They claimed it was my fault for not knowing that they were bad. As far as they were concerned, the fact that THEY are the mechanics and it's THEIR job to know a good tire from a bad tire and simply not sell bad tires to me, were all irrelevant details.

Their reasoning for why it was all my fault was that I should know a bad tire from a good tire, and therefore I should not have allowed them to KNOWINGLY sell me bad tires. I say knowingly because like I said, I recorded the whole thing - including when the mechanic and even the owner, TJ, blamed me for their incompetence, claimed that they can sell junk tires as used tires and there's nothing I can do about it (but it's against the law to do that actually, they must not be aware of the laws and regulations they themselves are bound by) , and also when they blatantly lied to me about all of it and me catching them in their lies, and when they were yelling at me because I caught them, AND also them saying that they can legally sell me dry rotted junk tires [not true, by the way. Indiana law prohibits that for obvious reasons].

Yeah I recorded all of it and it's absolutely insane. It would be unbelievable if not for the fact that I have all of it recorded. Don't go here unless you want to be completely ripped off of your money and have your vehicle in a worse condition than it was before. There's actually a lot more craziness about these people on the recording but since it's a review I'll only write the tip of the iceberg so you get the gist of it.

This place took six days to have my breaks fixed. When I took my car in for service I was told that it would be ready the next day. They charged $301.26 for the repair, but they did a good job fixing the car.
