1 review for Tita's Papuseria Truck
Holy sweet baby jesus, I have found el breakfast burrito supremo! El padre de todo los burritos de breakfast! I don't speak much Spanish as you can tell... but what I don't know about Spanish, I more than make up for in knowledge of breakfast burrito joints.
Let's see how it stacked up against the requirements:
-1- size -- the f-ing thing weighed at least 3-4 pounds. It was ginormous!
-2- price -- $5.99? I can handle that.
-3- indigestion? -- 24 hours' worth, baby!
-4- flavor -- Bombay like the thrilla in manilla! Eggs, choice of bacon or ham (I went ham, and they were big old chunklets of ham to boot!), refried beans (not usually in my burritos, but hey, this is a working man's breakfast), rice (perfectly flavored, I've never enjoyed rice in a burrito like this... it tasted like dirty rice from jambalaya), and some type of nice and spicy salsa.
In short, if you're driving the 5 and it's breakfast time, hit this place up for sure. Take it to go and eat in the car, because a) it's really hot in Buttonwillow, wherever that is), and b) there are TONS of flies everywhere. The people who live there must be used to it, but I am certainly not. But the staff is friendly and tries to keep things clean... there was a guy scrubbing the truck, although it already looked pretty clean to me...
The gf got a papusa. Thought it would've been good, since it's in the name. She ordered the revuelta (pork and cheese), but it only had cheese... and too much cheese at that. Inedible. Couldn't even taste the papusa itself. I consider myself a papusa connoisseur, and this was absolutely not up to par. Even if it IS in the middle of an unmarked dust parking lot in the middle of central Cali.
Nonetheless, 3 stars... great prices, and a helluva breakfast burrito!
