Review from Deez N.
Glendale, CA
Every Yelper needs a good theme song--some definitive number that conveys their presence with spirited aplomb. When I step, I strut to the sounds of "Someday Baby" by Robert Lee Burnside, a reworked piece of funky soul that should accompany the following review at the highest possible volume...
http://www.youtube.com...
Never mind tiger's blood; I got panther plasma coursing through these veins, and it carries with it all the mojo of a Charlie Sheen without any of the douche baggage. So in essence, I'm his essence, but don't call me Carlos Estevez. Deez is the name... as in Nuts... as in swingin'... like the creaky saloon doors that enhance my arrival at Tinhorn Flats.
"Did you catch my entrance there?" I ask the female bartender as I belly up to the bar.
"What?!"
"The way I split the doors there. Did you see that?"
"I can't hear you over your theme music!"
"Never mind!"
I point to a couple of items on the menu and she pours me an ice cold Tinhorn Blonde and brings me a steaming plate of the pork chop special. Ahhhh, testify, my brothers... for in the beginning, when the Goodie God said, "Let there be good eats, good suds, and good times", the 'Horn was born; and some seventy years later, this bar and grille is still kicking ass and taking names with a greasy swagger that matches my own.
So if you bob your head to the same beats of unpretentious cool, she will suit you. If you fancy a savory pork chop with your ale, she will accommodate you. But if you're looking for a place to pick up a hottie or two, eh... not so much. It was teeming with patrons last night, but the only two women that recognized my juice happened to be the only two women in there... and only one of them was cute... in an ugly kind of way.
What a waste of some good swagger. -

This is a kinda-sorta dive bar with a "restaurant" operation tacked on to it. The place is busy, and I can certainly see the appeal if you want to go somewhere and have some drinks and an appetizer while you chill with your buddies. However, co-workers and I have gone here a few times now fur lunch, and each time, the service has just pretty much gone from okay to dismal. Not sure what's going on.
Yesterday, we went for lunch, thinking the place would be busy but adequately staffed for a Friday afternoon. Wrong. Even though there appeared to be ample staff scurrying around, we waited at LEAST 30-35 minutes for our lunch to arrive. And two of the three of us ordered SALADS! Nothing too exotic!
We all agreed that while Tin Horn is a decent watering hole, it's not equipped to play restaurant as it advertises it is. About a week ago, I asked for a grilled ham and cheese for lunch. It took two waitresses and finally an answer from the kitchen that there was "no ham today". Really. You'd think by the confusion I caused that I'd requested ostrich meat in my sandwich. It's HAM, people. Who the hell doesn't have HAM in a "restaurant" that serves a full range of salads and sandwiches? Lame.
Anyway, our lunch on Friday became a 90-minute outing that would have been longer, had we not finally flagged someone down and told them we NEEDED to get the check so we could return to work. And when the guy brought the check, we told him not to move while we got our payment out for him; that would have been another 10 minutes!
Tin Horn is a great watering hole, like I said. But if it's lunch you're looking for, I'd bypass this spot. There are simply too many other great choices in the area. We will likely return for drinks. But not again for food.
Oh, and they say they have wifi. However, none of their staff seems to know why none of us can connect whenever we visit. Maybe it's like ham - "none today!" Cell service is almost non-existent at Tin Horn, which is also a challenge. -

What a great find!!!
I must say...for a bar they have terrific food. I was shocked and then very happy! Good drinks and staff as well.
Only thing is...they don't have a front door. Yes...front door. They have saloon doors...so in the winter it can get a bit chilly inside. Of course don't let this discourage you from checking it out - just bring a coat! -

My boyfriend and I came here and though it isn't exactly my scene, we both enjoyed the experience.
I ordered the mushroom swiss and he got the western bacon cheeseburger. He said his was good but we both actually liked mine better.
Loved the fried pickles! They were a nice change from regular fries, though we enjoyed both. Fried pickles are definitely a must try.
They have a big TV inside and one outside as well if you're the type who wants to watch the game over a burger and a couple beers.
Try this place! It's worth a shot. -

Cheap, awesome inside, saloon doors, and we had great service. I still need to try the burgers but I have to say YAY to this place!

Pretty cool spot for some food and a drink!
Their patio in the back is a great place to hang with a bunch of friends.
Their burgers are huge and quite tasty. It's a great place to spend a lazy weekday
or perhaps a lazy sunday. -

I like this place. Good burgers, good fries, and you get to swing open a saloon door when you walk in! It made me feel a little cool...
I recommend coming here during their lunch hours because the burgers are only $6! I ordered the American Classic Burger and it was just what I needed for my burger craving. The only thing missing from the picture was a chocolate shake...it would have made my meal complete! -

Saloon style doors at the entry give a unique and awesome touch to this little dive bar. Burgers are great!
Limited seating if it's crowded so we had a couple of drink and left to the next spot. Didn't even see that there was a patio. I usually don't mention the restroom, but this one was a little surprising and unique.
First visit: Pretty busy on weekend nights and seating is limited. Had a couple of drinks and left. Was buzzing so don't remember much.
Second visit was a Friday afternoon for lunch. My friend had just visited a day ago, but said he'd go again so I could try this delicious burger. The patty was of quality meat and hearty in size. I had the jalapeno cheddar and it was good. Friend had the bacon bleu and he loved it. My first bite trying his was a bit overwhelming with a huge chunk of bleu. Bit pungent for me, but good.
Had to try the fried pickles as others recommended. I didn't find them to be as good as I was expecting. I would just order fries next time. I LOVE me pickles like there's no tomorrow, but the these had a little too sour of a taste. They were luckily sliced extremely thin.
Parking: Street or down the neighborhood side street. -

The best burgers in Burbank by far! Ice cold beer and a hefty appetizer selection will leave you satisfied. If you haven't been here yet you need to get on it!

The food is great! Very fresh meat from the butcher across the street. Fun atmosphere. Old west saloonish. For the most part I wouldn't recommend anyone visit Burbank. But if you're in the area and want a drink and/ or pretty decent bar food this is your place.
P.S.
If you do drink beware of Burbank police! They are horrible!! -

I'm giving this 3 stars because most of the food is good but there are some things that go on that need to be changed. The management is awesome and the pork chops and hamburgers magnificent. The quesadilla is also awesome and they have the best fries anywhere.
But they need to work on the patio seating; people should not be seated there and then have to be moved after their food arrives. It must be embarrassing to have to walk through the restaurant with your half-eaten burger in your hands. And those chicken strips need to be changed or taken off the menu. Why not just add nachos instead? Staff is hit or miss. I guess you gotta take the good with the bad sometimes. -

DEEEEEEE-LICIOUS!! I feel like I say this often, but this place serves up one of the best burgers in the LA area. I had the "regular" bacon cheese and my wife had the bacon bleu. Both of us were VERY pleased--the meat was juicy, the bacon was plentiful, and the burger was a substantial size, where we both had to cut it in half (& wifey took half of hers home). I had the steak fries, which were good, and she had the fried pickles, also very tasty. I want to return to order the fried pickles myself, because I need a full order to fully access their greatness. But the few pieces I tasted were very pleasing.
The atmosphere is fun, very saloon-like, but small. We went on a Thurs. night, so it wasn't too crowded, but I imagine it fills up quickly on weekends & might feel cramped at such times. Plenty of TVs to catch different games if that's your thing. Street parking was plentiful & free, so you can't beat that.
Our service was pretty amazing too. Quick, attentive, & friendly waitress, bussers, & servers...I felt like everyone who worked there wanted to make sure we were taken care of. All in all, a great experience. I expect to be back soon. -

Back for fried pickels!
I ordered the Jalapeno Burger and that was OK. I will just stick to their regular burger next time.
Burgers are pretty big , you will need several beers to wash it down :).
Try to avoid the patio unless you are there for an early lunch. -

the first time i went to this place it was so good. i couldnt believe how amazing the burgers were and the fries were so thick and tasty with the right amount of flavor.
the soda was the tasty and hit the spot.
my gf and i both got burgers. she had the bacon cheeseburger and i had the western ult cheeseburger and i remember telling the lady it was the best burger ive had in a long time. it was juicy to perfection and i told the waitress that i would come back soon.
18 days later today, 12-27-11 i came back with my nephue. he said that the burger was juicy. he had a western ult cheeseburger and fries. he said that the burger was juicy and the fries were tasty.
i had the same thing as him but i had onion rings. gross, nasty and very crunchy with no taste at all. i told the waitress to please take it back and she dissapeared. i got the attention of a man worker behind the area in the bar. he said whats a matter (i told him that i dont like it and would like fries). he came back to me about seven mins later and brought me those tasty fries. yummie, hit the spot. the only thing is that i was already eating my cheeseburger and was already done just about. the waitress sucked.
my western ult cheeseburger was good but was very pink and not so juicy this time.
would i come back, yes!
i would like to see how it is for the third time. -

The first time I came here was for a Bears' game. Half way through the game and they couldn't figure out how to get it on screen. The second time I came here they only had the Bears' game on the smallest TV in the place. I thought this was supposed to be a Chicago bar?! Lame.
I came here tonight to watch Bears vs. Lions on MNF and you had to be on a list to get in! You could've given a heads up, a-holes! Like that's what a website's for geniuses.
Food has always been terrible and gave me stomach aches. This place really sucks in every way possible.
If I could, I would give this place zero stars. -

Used a groupon here today. Definitely not a place to take children. As soon as we walked in, there were a bunch of people standing around (couldn't tell if they were customers or what), but they were just taking photos. Very random. Anyway, no one was there to take us to our seats and we waited at least 10 minutes in the front. So off to a bad start already. We sit ourselves down and wait quite some time until we finally get our menus. At this point, I'm thinking, "no wonder they needed a groupon to drive traffic here."
The place had so many ceiling fans on, so it was freezeballs USA and the musak was so loud it was piercing. This place has definitely made me reconsider wanting to move to Magnolia Park.
The food was meh. We ordered a chicken sandwich and cheeseburgers. Nothing special really. Everything felt really greasy. They have paper dispensers at the table, where you have to use 20 cuz the paper is so cheep. Sadly and definitely not a place I will return to. The one redeeming thing that gives it two stars is the brownie a la mode. -

I was finally able to make a trip out here with my friends the other day. we went out riding on our motorcycles and decided to make a stop here and i am glad we did. the staff is really friendly and nice, and the food is great. we started out outside in the back which was nice, a little cold, but it wasn't as loud and the fresh air was enjoyable. later though, we had to go inside because the outside area closes at 9pm
we started with a pitcher of tinhorn blonde beer and some deep fried jalapeno chips. the beer was pretty good for a light colored beer (i am more of a dark beer guy), and the jalapeno chips were amazing. they used the pickled ones so they have that good pickle taste with the jalapeno spice, along with a nice crisp from the batter and being deep fried. and the ranch they give you for them complements them very well. for our main course we got burgers, and i had the bacon bleu burger as i love bacon, bleu cheese, and burgers so it seemed to be perfect. the burger was cooked perfectly, but it could have used more bleu cheese but that is because i love bleu cheese. the meat for the burger was very juicy and just perfect and the bacon crisp complimented it perfectly. the fries were standard steak fries and could have been cooked a little longer to get the crispy outside, but they were still good. we ended up spending a few more hours and got some more beer and left later in the night. overall, i was very pleased with the food and beer overall and would come back just for that.
another thing that was really nice was the staff as i said earlier. they were there just enough to be helpful and make sure that you had everything you needed and if you needed more, but they were not so ontop of you that you get really annoyed with them. that is a big plus to me which put the place over the top. i can't wait to go back, and this will probably be a regular place for our group to go -

I have been coming here for years. They have OK food, free popcorn and great beers on tap. There is not a lot of seating if they don't have the patio open, And the parking is down a neighborhood street.
The only thing i fucking hate about this place is that they are a bunch of stupid fucking cub fans. I go in there for a dodger playoff game walk in and its nothing but cubs fans. Bullshit when your in the middle of Los Angeles. So to that part i say fuck you cubs fans this is LA.

Dask from Sun Valley nailed the crowd... perfect description in which everyone is welcome to come and have a great time!
I wanted to mention the food! About a month ago a good friend of mine introduced me to one of his local hangs... I ordered the burger and have been craving it nightly for the last month, although not on my diet!
Last night I was on my way to 24hour fitness the new super sport on Lankershim and decided to blow it off and head to The Tin Horn for that inner burger rumble.... Even though on Wednesdays I think they are half off $4.99 or something... didn't care the only thing I was interested in lifting was a perfectly cooked Tin Horn Burger, a Guinness and a shot of Don Julio- that was my workout last night!
Here it is... For sure the best burger in the Valley and I would say the third best burger in town! 1st being Fathers Office, a close second would be the burger (lunch menu only) at green street tavern and NOW the Burger at Tin Horn Saloon comes in third...
Apparently they get there meat from Handy Market across the street on Magnolia... who in my opinion is the best butcher in Burbank... They have the most amazing BBQ on Saturday afternoons including Buffalo ribs YUM!
Here is how I ordered my Burger... I combined the American Burger: 8oz. of super fresh meat grilled to perfection, topped with american cheese, thousand island dressing, lettuce and tomato and added/ combined the Bacon from the bacon burger which I believe they use Nueske super smoked bacon. THEN instead of fries (since I'm on a diet) I ordered coleslaw instead and put the coleslaw right on top of the burger... The coleslaw acts like it does on a rueben and cuts the heaviness of the burger itself. Every bite reminded me of a burger I used to order in New York from 2nd avenue deli! So good!
I haven't tried any of there other dishes yet, but I heard the Pork Chop on one of the nights is supposed to be something you look forward to all week! I'm not sure, all i know is I can't wait to lose five more pounds so I can reward myself with a Burger/ Guiness and a Shot of tequila at The Tin Horn!
Oh and by the way.... The Staff there is awesome!!! Super friendly, attentive and fun!
See you in two weeks! -

Went for lunch with my teenage daughter. Hardly anyone in the place (2 tables had people sitting there) on a Saturday afternoon seemed kind of strange to me. Went to sit in the patio because although there was no one inside, the music was SO loud it was ridiculous. Went out back and it was pretty disappointing: one cocktail table with stools (vinyl and torn), metal furniture which looked very dirty and the rest of the tables are picnic benches! My daughter said it'd feel like eating at school...not very enticing to either of us.
We placed our order with the waitress, salads, hot wings for an appetizer and 2 entrees. Then we waited for our salad, or even wings, and waited, and waited...NOTHING! After about 15 minutes I got up to ask what was going on-the waitress said they had just had some more people come in (REALLY? That's why we can't get our salad?) So I sat down and waited again, after almost another 10 minutes, I got up again and was told they make the food in time order of who ordered first, and there was only one cook-she actually was explaining how it (a restaurant) "works" and was rather bothered by me checking on the food. Cannot imagine how long the wait is if they're actually busy!!! After 25 minutes of sitting and waiting with nothing to eat, they brought the salads. A few minutes later, the hot wings came out, then immediately afterwards our entrees arrived!!! So annoying! Then I had to rush through my salad so my fish and chips wouldn't get cold, and actually ended up just leaving it. So, essentially, they made us wait almost half and hour then brought all the food out at once! My fish and chips were pretty good, but my daughter ordered the chicken strips and fries, and her chicken strips were a super thin chicken breast, breaded, fried until it was almost burnt (super dark brown) and sliced into pieces. I really felt bad having my daughter eat it, but I was scared they might do something to her food if I sent it back because I'd already irritated them by getting up twice! Not a good time...
Will NEVER go back to this dump...I think the only reason they're still in business is because a bunch of people just go to drink and watch tv there, and they don't care what the food tastes like. -

The Blue cheese Bacon burger is the bomb! For $6 bucks it is a great deal. I even get the side salad (which is actually green) and try and save a few hundred calories. Although I am sure the burger is about 2500!
The fried jalapenos are really good but I fear that sort of thing as I am getting older and maybe wiser.
The place looks like a Chicago dive bar (and it is a Chicago lovers home base) but the people who work there are really nice and the food is really good. Don't let the cute girls who work there fool you, they are really sweet and attentive which is just another part of the charm. Try it and be surprised like I was. If you drink during lunch the food is even better! -

I come to Tin Horns every Tuesday night with a big group of friends. We love it! Cat gives us great service. Our food and drinks always come out quick, and I've never had anything bad to eat. It's basic bar food, and they do it fairly well. It is a little small inside, and if it's packed it can get cramped. But that's what a neighborhood bar is about. They also have a back patio for overflow. It would seem like there's no parking available but all the residential streets around the area are usually open, and NO METERS to pay.

The staff, including Stephanie the bartender, were really friendly. I had the chef salad, it was really fresh tasting, with a lot of turkey and bacon. The Tinhorn Blonde ale was tasty as well. They have one of those Internet jukeboxes, so lots of tunes are available. A good time! Would have been a five star but they overcooked my friends carne asada and didn't have another to prepare, but they did take it off and made her a great burger instead.

I want to punch this place in the face! Why? BECAUSE ITS AWESOME! Hit it up for a friend's birthday recently, and I got one word: Beer battered jalapeno chips, dude! Ok, that's a complete sentence, but I don't care! They're killer! And PICKLE CHIPS! How have I been missing out on all these things that you batter and fry and make delicious? I'm like "GIMME SOME PICKLE CHIPS" and I'm spraying ranch all up on it, and then I chew that B up, and it's like ...
I'm getting way too excited about this. The food was excellent, the prices were right, the beer was good, the service was super friendly, and sitting out on the back patio was like hanging out at some dude's back yard bbq. You get to keep mental score of how many bugs hit the electrical doo dad. May not be attractive to all, but I had a blast with it.
... and man. Those jalapeno chips. -

Surprisingly good! Originally introduced to the idea via a Groupon special. When we drove up, we saw... a bar. Yeah. It's a bar. Like a saloon bar-bar. With saloon doors. Yeah.
There's a handful or so of tables in the joint, and maybe ten more on the patio (which closes at 9pm - no exceptions - due to a noise ordinance). One bathroom for men and one for women (may be an issue if you're eating bar food, you know!).
We went on Saturday night, which may have been acceptable for a restaurant but was a mistake for a bar. I'm not going to complain about an establishment like that being packed and noisy, but we did have to sit right beside each other in order to hear one another speak. Cokes took a while to arrive, but again, that's a Saturday night issue, not a customer service issue. The food was actually decent - some of the best divey bar food I've ever had. We both had burgers and fries, and shared the onion rings. Generous helpings of food - they're not going to hold back on you here.
Would I go back? Probably, but I'd make sure to go a bit earlier than we did so we can enjoy our meal on the patio - I've gotten too used to the smoke-free establishments in LA and suddenly being in a smoky bar definitely messed with me a bit.
What has this taught me? Appearances are definitely deceiving and I should have stopped by this saloony place before now and demanded a burger a lot sooner.

Great lunch specials and the quality of the food is tasty and excellent. Service is nice but they're SLOOOOWWWW! Let me clarify, not the waitstaff, the cooks are slow. Great place to go for an extended lunch hour, not if you're in a hurry.

I came here on a Monday night and ordered a mushroom blue hamburger which came with a side of steak cut fries. The hamburger was giant. It had a thick slab of patty with your regular toppings of lettuce, tomato, etc. Although I would have preferred less meat and more vegetables, the hamburger itself was still good and the price reasonable.
We were able to find parking on the street being that it was late in the night. Moreover, tonight I heard country music playing in the background and the loud music made conversation a tad bit difficult. But the servers and bar tender were very helpful. The crowd had people of all ages. There were people in their 20s like my boyfriend and I, and others who were older Overall, it is an unpretentious bar with a friendly crowd. -

Thanks Tinhorn flats, thanks for being a bunch of dicks. I would have given this place 4 stars or even 5 but they fucked around and lost my respect. First of all the food here is good not great but some stuff is pretty good. The fried pickles are awesome, the burgers are OK. The menu says they grind their meat into patties but I swear they are too perfectly round and kind of small. I'm sure they have a mold they use but the burgers just seem like patties I can get at Trader Joes. Not impressed. The specials are quite special though. I mean it's a good meal at a good price so that really saves this place. The beer selection isn't bad about what you'd expect from a bar. Hell the first time I came here the waitress identified our table as 'Cute Couple' as my girlfriend and I saw it on our receipt. She was a sweetheart and that visit really made me want to come back. But here's what pisses me off.
I came here with family recently, like three days ago, and we sat in the back patio area, basically outdoor seating in the back. We got service pretty quick after we sat down but then we were told the patio area would be closing... in the next 15 minutes. What the fuck did they take our order for then? They told us this well after they took our order, like 10 minutes later. Then a guy brings our food and tells us the patio is closing. Why the fuck did they bring us our food then? He basically sets our food down then tells us we can't eat it. Literally 5 minutes before the patio was closing. Now I don't blame one person I blame the entire shitty establishment. Seriously who the FUCK closes a God damn patio on a Friday night at 9pm? I'm not even joking. They closed their patio at 9pm on a Friday. What a fucking shitty excuse for a bar that serves food. Seriously a pussy ass move. Fuck Burbank.
So now that they insult us I asked the guy if we could sit inside the bar and if they'd get us a table. They did. But then we had to carry our plates through the back of the bar past the restrooms. We went from a quiet section outside to the loudest possible place in the building. Get real you shitty ass fucking excuse for a bar. Seriously, read the rest of my reviews I never complain. This is the lowest I've ever rated a place. The food is good but not good enough to make me forget about their shitty patio rules. Not to mention their rude attitude toward our problem. Like they didn't care because we were supposed to know or something. What a joke. Your fried pickles aren't that good. Way to lose a customer you fucking piece of shit bar. Fuck you Tinhorn flats. Fuck you and the horse you rode in on. -

Fun spot. Situated along the anywhere USA strip of Magnolia, you won't find Hollywood doucheyness here.
Locals who are Cali born and bred keep the lights on at this wateringhole.
I heard a little rumor about a $4.95 lunch special that I had to check out for myself.
Sherlock Hungry has found it to be true. Any sandwich is 5 bones. No gimmecky cheese, bacon and whatever is $1 more.
I got my bacon bleu cheeseburger with a side of ranch (no 50 cents extra) for 4.95 plus tax.
The burger was darn good and they used real bleu, no salad dressing. I'll be back for sure.
They have swinging door as an actual saloon entrance and a big patio out back. What's not to love.Listed in: Best LA Burger, Best Eats under $10, Bur to the Bank

True to form, our rag-tag motley horde of mugwort thieves who aptly go by the name of the 'Dirtbagz' have been clawing and scraping for a win for 5 weeks now. Last night, we finally broke thru and skewered our even-more-hapless opponents for our first win!
This is the 4th week now that we've been coming here. It feels somehow undeserved and perverse to be drinking beer and inhaling greasy, saucy, and juicy appetizers when your team is getting its ass lime-smacked. Especially amongst all the other teams who come here on Tues nights (beware the crowds!) to celebrate their robust win-itudes!
Last night, we FINALLY had something to celebrate, so it woulda been perfect had the place been packed with reams of other raucously reveling ringers so that we coulda shown off a bit. Sadly, it was rather empty for a Tues nite, so revelry was pretty much self-contained to our table of beaming baseballers.
The good news is, service was quick and professional, and THIS time we had no problem securing a large space for our Baker's Dozen-sized group.
HI's: The fact it was Barbara's (the head bar maiden) B-Day, Juke Box, Full Bar, $10 pitchers of Stella, Pool Table(s)--(though not regulation size), Finger Lickin' Spicy (or BBQ) Chicken Wings, and I never thought I'd hear myself say this sentence, but 'the Jalapeno Poppers are deeee-lish!' :OP
LOWs: Subpar tacos (that was the most popular item in our group, it being Taco Tuesday)
For regular bellying-up-to-the-neighborhood bar/lounge lizarding, I don't recommend the Tin Horn. But if you're rolling with a posse of post-game peeps, saunter on over to The Flats!
