I have a friend from NY that pays homage to this place as the best burger joint on this coast and I'm inclined to agree. Although I can't eat here more than once a year, Tim's easily houses the best burger in Boston and as long as you're not looking for ambiance, a pilgrimage is well worth it.

A true burger aficianado is happy to hunker down with a half pound of chargrilled meat in just about any surrounding -- it's all about the burger. If you're in this category, you'll love Tim's. It's a dingy bar in Boston's South End with an amazingly eclectic group of people...all gathered together for one reason: to eat an amazingly delicious burger.
Disclaimer: In early summer of 2005, Tim's kitchen closed for renovation. You can still hang out at the bar and grab a beer, but as of this writing (Aug 2005) the kitchen has still not reopened. -

Agree. Some of the best burger's I've had, complete with divey atmosphere. Super-cool barender has awesome fingernails and is of the "no-nonsense" variety. Just be aware that the occasional influx from uber-fratty Clery's next door means that if you are a "slumming" hipster/yuppy, it will be obvious to everyone involved.
