Timmerman's was an experience. We were visiting my in-laws, when we decided we should have dinner there. The place doesn't open till 5:00 which was sad, because it was too dark to fully appreciate the beautiful view of the Mississippi river (it was in the winter), but the décor was an experience unto itself. It's like taking a step back in time, but in a good way. Everything is pretty old but clean and well maintained.
I can say that the food is pretty dated as well, but everything was prepared impeccably and tasted delicious, the staff is supper friendly. Honestly I wouldn't eat there again, because the prices were a little steep for what you get, but I would recommend that anyone passing thru Dubuque try it at least once because it is definitely an experience. -

Well, Timmerman's is unlike anything we have in California where I come from (that I know of) so I don't really have anything to compare it to. It seems like it was "the place" to be back in the day, when men donned smoking jackets and the ladies wore beehive hairdos and white gloves. Now you have your modern-day Americans sitting around in jeans, their Sunday best, and even biker leather but I can see why the place is still popular. While visiting we decided to take my future mother-in-law to Sunday brunch, I learned that this is the place to go to if you want to earn big brownie points with the in-laws. But seriously, the brunch was funky yet good, I can't say that I've ever seen so many jello salads in one place since I was a Mormon living in Utah but I have to say the food was delicious and at under $10.00 a person how can you beat that?
My future brother and sister-in-law took my fiance and I there for a regular Monday night dinner and it was fantastic again. We started out with drinks at the bar which were good and the service was great. I see below that somebody had an issue with the prime rib, honestly I have to say it was probably the best I've ever had in my life, "like buttah." I didn't understand what people meant when they talked about prime rib melting in your mouth until I had dinner there. The view of course speaks for itself, they could use a little update inside but with the view outside who cares? -

No disrespect to Timmerman's, but this is my Mom's favorite place to eat. It's been around as long as I can remember, and it's not difficult to imagine that people once used to get dressed to the nines before going here. It's located on bluffs overlooking the Mississippi, and the restaurant has large pane-glass windows looking to the west. Kids will love the bunny hut, a miniature hut just outside the windows where scads of rabbits frolic and play.
The food is conservative - steak and seafood fare, for the most part. Do yourself a favor and go for their Sunday brunch, which is the best in the tri-states. It's served buffet style, and there's food aplenty, from salads and desserts to eggs, potatoes, and fresh-carved ham and roast beff. It's an excellent value at a mere ten bucks. -

Cue the James Bond music... before you cross the big muddy, you have to experience what must have been the swankiest supper club on a bluff this side of the Mississippi. If the food won't blow you away, the view and ambiance and possibly a man with a golden gun might. I don't know how you can drive by this place and not stop. I still don't get all the rabbits that surround this establishment.. or the motel.. its obviously part of some plot to take over the world. A truly unique dining experience that I doubt you can find anywhere else.!

Went here i think about 2 years ago. This place was really nice and an awesome view over the mississippi toward the city of dubuque. Very high class place and we had to get reservations to eat here. As for the food, I really dont remember, so its probably so-so. What I can remember of the place, it looked like all the inside decorations and what not were put in in the 80's and have not been touched since.
