I LOVE this place!

I've only been once so far but my one time was great!

Some background: My mom didn't want me to go to public high-school. Therefore, I didn't get to go to prom, one of the "Biggest and most important things" in my life. Low and behold, a couple months ago I met a lady who is putting on a prom/ball as a fundraiser for an organization supporting foster care kids aging out of the system to get adult life skills and find apartments. I jumped on the opportunity to go to Prom, and found a date that also didn't get to go to HIS high-school prom, and started looking for a dress.

My date and I were walking past this store when I saw a GORGEOUS brown dress in the window. I told him I wanted to go in, like, REALLY wanted to go in. So he vowed we could go after we got back from the movie theater.

We walk up to the store about half-an-hour after they had closed but the lights were still on and the ladies were still working inside. I waved sheepishly and pointed at the dress. One of the ladys came to the door, I told her I adored the dress and just wanted to see it. She let me in and the rest is history!

Main Story: Both ladies helped me out a lot in finding the perfect dress. The dress in the window was not going to fit me, and altering it would ruin it. One of the ladys went to their dress collection and pulled out this BEAUTIFUL pink and blue dress from the 50s that we all thought would work. I tried it on. and all of us were amazed with how well the dress fit and flattered me. I bought it for like, $65. (I'll post a picture of it on my profile soon.)

While I was trying on the dress, the ladies helped my date find a suit. He didn't find anything that fit him but it goes to show you how helpful and service oriented these fine shop ladies are.

Keep in mind that THEY LET US IN AFTER THEY CLOSED and the SERVICE WAS GREAT!  As for selection I don't know if it's as good as it gets because all shops are different but I would FOR SURE recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic vintage clothing and accessories.

Just a word about them letting us in late: They were just re-opening after they had re-modled their store. The reason they were still in the store is because they were still putting things away.

Bottom line: GO HERE FOR VINTAGE!

After reading some good things about this store, I wanted to check it out at some point.

We happened to pass by on Sun. afternoon, and decided to stop in.

The owner informed us she had just reopened, and would be starting to carry furniture. She was very pleasant, and friendly without being too in your face.

I didn't find very many pieces that worked for me. This is truly a vintage store, not just a thrift store. A lot of the women's clothes had a little bit of a costumey feel, but I did try on a few cool jackets.

My guy actually found a great sport coat, and it was priced well too.

The clothing here is a bit pricier than what you find at some resale shops, but it is in good condition, and like I mentioned, truly vintage.

Since I did like a few jackets, I'll definitely be back. I'm also interested to see the furniture that will be sold here.

Time Zone Vintage rocks! The store is very well organized and the ladies who work there really know their stuff.  They are very helpful whether the retro look is your every day style, or if you're just shopping for a costume party.  I brought a skirt in that I had purchased at another vintage store and they were really cool about it, helping me to find a matching top.  There prices are very reasonable ad I hope this store stays in San Jose for at least as long as I do.

I pass by Time Zone Vintage on my way into work every day. I do not know if it was the life like mannequin that sits outside in his cool duds or the black and white checker board sidewalk outside that caught my eye. All I know is I finally was able to stop in during my lunch break to take a look inside. I was greeted by a lovely woman decked out in a pretty 1940's dress (very Betty Page looking). The place was very clean, well lit and organized. You can browse the racks by color rather than size. Everything is in good shape and reasonable prices. You can find vintage dresses anywhere from $16 to $75 easily! The more fragile and original dresses are hanging behind the counter. There is a small mens section towards the back and great vintage furniture at the back. Upbeat Rockabilly music is playing in the background, giving this place a fun atmosphere to shop in!
There is street parking available or if you are lucky you can get a spot on the side of the building up the driveway. When I have more free time I am definitely going back! I saw some really cute purses for my collection!

If you're looking for 40's to 80's clothing, this is the place. Good selection and pieces are in good shape. Well organized and clean.

The owner really knows his stuff and picks out the nice stuff to sell. He is also very helpful and friendly. Check them out!

Have driven by a coupla times as I was speeding down Park, but this is the first time I slowed down enough to stop!

I give the owner kudos for taking a risk and setting up shop here in San Jose; we need more places like this - esp on Park Ave.

Actually, the furniture on display is what initially stopped me; very interesting mid-century pieces. I also spoke with the owner briefly; it is mostly vintage clothing right now (with plans to expand into more furniture).

The prices are REALLY reasonable, and the clothing is very selective and tasteful. I'd come back to browse!

Ever seen a wall clock made out of a "Reefer Madness" movie poster?  I want that one so bad!

I like that this place mingles real vintage clothing with new vintage look clothing. There's also cool antique stuff for sale like a Star Trek Original Series Board Game that I bought for my husband last Christmas.

Every time I come to Berkeley, I try to come here.  Something about it makes me feel comfy.  The sales people are friendly and helpful and they have a cool little foyer that I'd love to decorate!

This used to be my fave vintage/thrift shop in Berkeley. My first vintage Bay Area purchase, right after I moved up here in Aug 05, I bought a pair of basic but perfect black leather boots here. As the months wore on, the lady who worked there would remember me. She was such a personality and so sweet. I got a great Salvatore Feragammo black clutch here too. As well as a classic Bottega Veneta-esque woven leather purse.

So, just went back there the other day on a recent Berkeley trip and I was so disappointed! It appears that the owners are new? I could be wrong. But the store was barren and the selection was pathetic. It was Goodwill stuff at hip vintage store prices. It was strange. Sadly, wont be back.

This little big store has come full circle. The original owner reopened the store in San Jose, April 2009 having been located in Berkeley since 1999. There is more to choose from, clothing, jewelry, collectibles and furniture! They had a fabulous 50's red sofa in the window which sold and now is replaced by an awesome salmon pink leather sofa. There's a 1950's wedgewood stove and 1960's Herman Miller pedestal stool! The list goes on and on. The store is located near downtown San Jose in an area known as the 'Loop' consisting of other vintage and thrift stores within walking and 10 minute driving dirstance. Moon Zoom, Black & Brown, Park Place Vintage, Tozeero Thrift, Crossroads, etc are a few businesses located in the loop. The store has a bunch of dead stock from the 50's and 60's. Rockabilly, 70's disco, 80's glam rock and prom dresses. Something for everybody. They have a fun selection of purses, wide variety of men and women shoes, boots including ostrich/leather cowboy boots. Once a month the store has. Monthly sidewalk sales with vintage and antique vendors, artisans and funky booths. The.owner and store manager are very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend checking out this gem of a store you won't be disappointed. Check out their funky new look! The checkerboard sidewalk storefront is genius! I love it!! And so will you!

There are a lot of interesting things here at Time Zone, but most of it isn't wearable.  They have a very good selection of trenchcoats, a real boone in the frigid California weather.  Despite their sheer impracticality, they do hold a place in my heart, so this store gets points for being one of the few to have a large variety of them.  Even though it is better organized than other Vintage stores, finding things can still be hard.  The sales staff isn't to helpful either, consider yourself on your own.

Interesting vintage store with lots of older stuff (40's and 50's) that you don't see at Buffalo or Crossroads.

The new owners have really turned this place around. It has much more life and something for everyone. Everyone should give this place another chance. It has now become my new favorite vintage store.
