Only came here for the waterpark on a Sunday... for a no expense 10person bday pkg I had won at the ChiKidsExpo... FREEEE!!!!! ... so of course I loved it!

Obviously I can't comment on the prices but the family time was excellent! Smaller than other waterparks I've been to but only 2hrs(with traffic) which is better then the Dells.
make sure to bring swim diapers  otherwise they sell em but for $2 a diaper EACH! WOW
not too many people and the 2 slides where F-U-N.
towels are provided and they have showers with soap so the clean kids can get tucked in when they get home :)

not to forget... they have a nice arcade that has this cool game.. the Virtual JumpRope... very cool :)

Great get away from Chicago.  Easy-breezy drive and the staff there really caters to families with little kids.  The water park is fun, not too big or overwhelming with the 9 and under crowd.  They can provide babysitting ($18/hr), Kathy (preschool teacher and SO sweet) came with a tote full of fun and was terrific!!  No question that we'll be back when one too many grey days hit us hard this winter.

Waterpark hotel. Simply heaven if you're in the 10 and under set.

It's exactly what you're thinking it is - Massive hotel rooms surrounding an indoor waterpark complex with small pools and hot tubs outdoors as well. So you get up in the morning, eat breakfast and change into your swimsuit for hours of fun in the water.

However, I'm in the mature age (older than junior high) group with no children to speak of. I came with a friend and her 2 young ones - there are 2 slides slides that are at least 4 stories tall that would seem terrifying to the young 'uns and folks who are terrified of  heights. But for me, these slides were just gateway excitement - I like my slides higher, faster, and more dangerous.

On the plus side, these slides don't give you wedgies. Maybe that was what was so terrifying about the other waterparks I went to.

We just returned from four days in Lake Geneva...man, am I ever feeling pampered and lazy.  I'll do the dishes tomorrow.  But our children are even lazier - they were both asleep by nine, which is pretty good for the summer.

Timber Ridge is part of the Geneva Grand Resort and Spa complex, in the more family-oriented section.  This facility houses a nice indoor/outdoor waterpark, a couple restaurants, an arcade, lots of organized children's activities, movies, etc.  Since it was our first time, I can't comment on whether it was especially crowded or not, but I suspect it was better than it would be during spring break - there was plenty of elbow room everywhere we went.

On the second night we had in-room babysitting while we had a night out - she was tops and the kids liked her.

Our room was very comfortable.  We slept in a private bedroom and the children had no trouble sleeping together on a fold-out couch.  A small kitchen had dishes plus everything you would need for a short stay except a conventional oven (there was a microwave though).  The bathroom had a nice, two-person jacuzzi tub.  Nice for the parents, but toddlers should wear surf shoes in the bath otherwise they'll go boom.

Take the children but be sure to set aside time for the spa.

My husband and I started this tradition a few years ago where we let the girls decide whether they want a party or a "mini-vacation" for their birthdays. My oldest whose birthday was April 12th ALWAYS goes for the mini-vacation. So this year we went to a lodge in Grand Geneva Resort, Lake Geneva, WI called Timber Ridge Lodge. It has a very rustic/woodsy/log cabin theme throughout the hotel, however, the rooms were spectacular.

We invited my brother and sister in law (not my mother in law who ended inviting herself) up along and had a 2 room suite. There was a private bedroom on the first floor and a loft upstairs with a private bathroom as well, booth with king beds. The kids slept in the living room on the very comfy fold-out couch in front of a fireplace (which of course was not lit as it was over 70 degrees) and  a large flat screen TV on the wall. There was also a large dining area with seating for 6 at the table. The was a stove, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and all of the cooking utensils and dishes you could need.

There was also a whirlpool tub in the bathrooms that could fit 2 adults EASILY laying down (and my hubby is 6'3"), not to mention me being the baragin hunter that I am I was thoroughly impressed with the vast array of Aveda toiletries they supplied in both bathrooms.

They have an indoor water park that rivals those of the dells power house hotels and of course it is included in your stay and only open to the resort guests (which keeps it from getting TOO busy). There were two gigantic water slides, one a tube slide the other a body slide and several other children friendly areas including an enormous "tree house" pool area with sprayers and a 4 ft swimming area. Oh and they had a very large lazy river encompassing the park as well.

Overall, this was by far the best mini-vacation we've had and NOT the most expensive by any means. We paid $299 a night for 4 adults and 3 kids in a private 2 bedroom suite with all water park passes included and the birthday girl got a huge canvas mariner's bag filled with goodies including 50 tokens, a disposable camera, a teddy bear, a beach towel, a key chain, and MANY other items. We will definitely be returning as soon as possible. The only thing keeping this place from receiving the elusive 5 star rating is the fact that the water park can get a bit crowded at times and there was a shortage of tubes at times for the kids ride. Other than that the trip was PERFECT ( and that is hard to say when you make that trip with 3 kids and your mother in law)!!!
