This is a favorite of the indie Atlanta coffeeshops, for me. There is wonderful quality on all the drinks, though it would be nice if there were frozen ones.

But the art and the atmosphere more than make up for the lack of frozen stuff. There is locally made art on the walls, great interior furniture from the tables to the lamps, and a book swap table. It's a very comfortable place - there is good Wi-Fi, friendly staff, and plenty of space.

I was introduced to this place through the Atlanta cohort of Emergent Village, which often has meetings in the back room, or in the open front area. We love the place.

In recent months, they have been closing earlier (9:30 instead of 11), which I believe is because of the economy. Hopefully this will change soon.

This place feels like home, if your home was filled with delicious sandwiches, spot on coffee, fabulous local art, and a friendly, smiling staff.  Don't like any of that stuff?  Well, they have ice cream.  Done.

The thing I like most about this place is that it has an authenticity that embodies the neighborhood.  When you're there, you know you're in Castleberry.  They also have a space that you can rent for business meetings or other events if you need a little privacy.

The search is over, Atlanta.  Tilt is it.

I eyed Tilt when wandering around Castleberry during an art stroll event and finally made it back several months later. Although it was a scorching 100 degrees outside, I was in the mood for some hot tea and chose a chamomile fruit variety--a flavor that had been added to the menu that day. The clean, modern decor impressed me, especially the back lounge area, with a leather sofa, flat-screen TV and Wi-Fi bar. I liked some of the art that hung on the walls, although a piece of photography with a naked woman holding a Granny Smith apple over her private parts rubbed me the wrong way; and it was displayed right near the front entrance.

It's too bad that Tilt is located in what I consider a sketchy area of Atlanta. Even the two extremely friendly staff members verified my thoughts. Hopefully Castleberry Hill will continue to clean up.

Found this modern-funky coffee shop while browsing Castlebury Hill. I was thrilled by the portrait photography on the tilted exposed brick walls. Tilt embodies the perfect vibe that I would expect in Castlebury. Urban-industrial (but still artsy) feel, great free-form jazz on the stereo system, and fantastic El Salvadorian french pressed coffee. For a coffee shop with this type of vibe, I was disappointed that I couldn't get a large mug for in-house drinking (they do offer smaller mugs).  Some of the chairs were uncomfortable for long-term sitting, which is made tough given the few number of couches/comfy chairs in the front area. Free wi-fi. Many plugs for laptop toters. Back room has couches and there are periodic movie nights.

Oh, Tilt, I am so torn!

On first arrival, it was love at first sight. Despite the questionable outward appearance and lack of cars parked anywhere in the vacinity, you were truly gorgeous inside. Expansive ceilings, exposed brick walls, and a variety of places to sit, whether someone was looking to cozy up with a book or hammer out some work on a laptop (ie. me!). Your barista was friendly and precious, you were playing Radiohead's In Rainbows, and your chai latte tasted like a nectar of the gods. I could see horses trot around the decrepit lot across the street and overhear locals discuss neighborhood happenings and new shops opening up. Life was good, and I was thinking there was no way you'd get less than 5 stars from me.

Well, as time wore on I got hungry, so I decided to grab a sandwich and a diet coke. I order the italian melt with chicken and no mushrooms. Oh, you're out of chicken? No problem, I'll take turkey. Out of spinach? Uhm, okay, I can deal. Out of diet coke?! WHAT?! NOT OKAY. *whimper* Fine, I'll have some green tea. No, not that Sobe shit, I want it hot.

The tea arrives and it's a lot more brown than green. Apparently it's CARAMEL green tea, not the crisp fresh version that I love so much. In fact, I don't like it at all, and I wish you had told me that your green tea was not traditional. And my sandwich is not surprisingly covered in mushrooms. Grr.

I still love you, Tilt. I love you very much. And I'll be back and hopefully will be able to give you the full 5 stars you deserve. But that's not going to happen until you get your food/drink stocking in order and can manage to serve a good light green tea, or at least warn those of us looking for the real thing what we're about to be served. Thanks... I'm off to go feed the horses my mushrooms.

I'm sold on Tilt!  Any coffee house that serves up a banana split has my vote.  I'm wrapping up my first visit as I type this and I'll definitely be back.  Spacious, comfortable, good music, pleasant staff, good sandwich selections and yes, they have ice cream, too.

It seems mostly a hip, young, black scene, but this white guy (50 years old) felt welcomed.  It could be as happening as Octane which I also love, but I guess some are just scared off by the neighborhood.  I parked my car right across the street from the entrance and about the only scary experience I had was avoiding a bad driver.  Besides, these days the robberies are happening around the Octane area, right?

Head on over, folks.  If you like coffee, that is good, too, but for me it is all about atmosphere and this place scores a solid 100 percent.

Tilt Coffee Shop is our go to place.  As freelancers, its always important to find a good coffee shop to eat, work, and socialize. This place has it all.  The people are so friendly, they know us by name, and if we get stuck there all day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner can all be different and good.  I love to go and plug into the TVs and work my little heart out.  The artwork is cool and overall it's just a really comfy spot.

Whether it's sitting on the couch and watching the big screen in the back, or sitting up front at a work table, you're able to find a great spot to chill.    For breakfast I love to get an asiago cheese bagel with orange marmalade with tea or coffee, and for lunch I love, love, love the Castleberry Crisp.  Open until 11 o'clock at night, the only down side is that they're closed on Sundays.

I love the actual Shop. The building and scene is dope. I love the art they chose to display and the Baristas are pretty cool. Love them all.

The coffee could be a whole lot better, IMO! It has a taste to it, that I really can't explain.
Psssssst... I'm not the only one who has thought this either. (whispers)

But Tilt is the bizness- It's a cool spot to chill, meet up with friends and eat some good food.

I love the sandwiches they make. If there is a particular sandwhich you want made, the Baristas definitely don't mind creating something for your taste buds.

All in ALL~ Tilt is cool, I just enjoy going there and being around the positive people!
LOVE IT

I love this coffee house! It is so awesome! I am always here....Tilt in Castleberry Hill provides free-WI-FI, NEWS,  and a mix crowd.Castleberry Hill residents gather at local  Walker Street  to enjoy surprisingly good sandwiches and  beverages. The area near the intersection of Peters Street and Walker Street is home to a growing number of small art galleries, restaurants, and loft residences. Must check out! http://www.tiltroom.com

The historic demographic has sparked a new wave of  Revitalization in Atlanta. Atlanta neighborhoods have experienced transformation associated with urban development. In more recent years, activity returned to Castleberry Hill as a really diverse scene.Castleberry Hill is a neighborhood in central Atlanta, located southwest of the Central Business District. It is a federally recognized historic district since 1985 and became a City of Atlanta Landmark District in 2006.

Notable area eateries include Slice, a popular local pizza parlor; Wasabi, a recently-opened sushi bar; and No Mas Cantina, a spacious Mexican-themed restaurant, bar and fine home furnishings.

Tilt's pretty solid.  The free refills alone is worth it's weight in gold.  That back room is 75 an hour if you want to rent it out for a biz meeting.  Ouch.

Anyway, cool place, I like going here then about 90% coffeeshops in Atlanta

This place is fantastic.
The building is interesting, the coffee is great, the staff is friendly, I have never had trouble parking and it is never too loud.
Sometimes, in the mornings, they have a $1 cup of coffee special.
I only gave it 4/5 stars, because they could use some big, comfortable couches.

Tilt just opened up in Castleberry Hill on Dec 4th, 2007!  I'm always up for some good coffee and instantly fell in love when I walked through the door.  Seriously, the building is tilted...hence the name!  There was Artwork from local artist on the walls (which are available for purchase) and they even played local bands throughout the shop.

The menu is simple...they have all your typical coffees and teas, but was pleased that you can "enhance" your liquid refreshment with enhancers like nuts, dried fruit, and chocolate.  I was also excited to see that they offer both vegan and non-vegan baked goods, as well as tasty sandwiches.

Oh, and if you want the BEST tea in Atlanta...they serve it here!  It's called Just Add Honey and my good friend Brandi is the owner of the company.  (I hear she comes in everyday to make the chilled tea! Try the Berries!)  Seriously, the tea itself is so flavorful and sweet, I don't have to add any sugar to it!

Great experience and I totally felt like I was in Little Five Points!  Thanks, for coming to the neighborhood and love the general manager, Jessica!!!

***Special Tidbit  1 - The whole coffee shop is about being healthy and active.  In about a month or so, the yoga studio in the back of the shop will be open to the public to take classes!

***Special Tidbit 2 - Go on their website and sign up to be on their e-mail lists or myspace page.  Some fun things to do at the coffee shop are on the way like live local bands, salsa dancing, art showings, etc...

UPDATE:

Tilt is now offering Yoga Classes and I took their first one this morning.  It was an excellent class!  Definitely recommend any of the 3 teachers teaching.  Check out the website for the schedule!

As Castleberry Hill grows, more and more shops will come with a unique twist. With that being said, Tilt is the spot! Their Teas(I don't do coffee), Sandwiches and Desserts are excellent. The Chocolate Chip Scones and Italian Melts are what you need to try. In addition to the drink and food, it's very refreshing to come to a place with an implementation of paintings, metal sculptures, board games, books, etc...Oh I forgot, there are about 6 two-seater tables with a flat screen TV w/cable at each table. You basically have the option to listen to your favorite TV show(bring headphones) or ignore it and dabble with the WI-FI or whatever fits your fancy!

This space is so cool!  Walking in you sort of feel like you've suddenly been hit with a case of vertigo--the tilted walls  & hanging table tops really create an interesting space.  Plus, they have the best chai tea latte!!

They have the best latte's! And I'm SO happy that there's a coffee shop in my area that has vegan stuff that actually taste good.

It also helps that the space is awesome and so are the staff. My first time there I spent 3 hours there and didn't even notice.
