6 reviews for Tides Inn
We stayed here the night we got engaged in Port Townsend. We got room 302, which is upstairs (elevator just across the hall). The room has a completely luxurious king-size bed, a sitting area, two balconies overlooking Port Townsend's harbor, a four-person in-room hot tub, and an outrageously plush bathroom with a heated bidet toilet seat (much nicer than it sounds), fancy showerhead, and salon-class beauty products.
The decor is overdone Victorian-esque, but we didn't really care. They supply a candelabra which is excellent if you remember to bring your own candles and matches (we bought some locally). Bring your own wine glasses if you want them, and remember to be careful with them around the hot tub.
For what we paid, we feel like we got an excellent value, though if you want breakfast that is not straight sugars and carbohydrates, you must skip the hotel's free spread and head for the Landfall instead.
Parking's a little tricky but the lot the hotel had us use was not too far; it was maybe 300 ft from the entrance of the building. No biggie. If we'd gotten there earlier, we would have parked next to the Inn, most likely.
If you want snacks, champagne, or any other item, there's a Safeway grocery store about half a mile away that is probably open 24 hours.
We liked this inn so much that we're going back for our birthdays (his is July 10th, mine is 13 hours and 15 minutes later on July 11th). :-)

if you ever saw the movie and saw the room they stayed in you would have seen a small dump. well they haven't changed a thing.
room 21 a small bathroom with a mirror that only a midget would appreciate, a shower that water vacillated from hot to cold, windows above the tv that you could not adjust the blinds to so the morning light woke you up when you didn't want to be up. a deck that over looked the water but the next rooms bathroom vent dumped out there. the halls were narrow and dungeonesque.
now the fun part, the front desk persons name was ... SKEETER!
wonder if his wifes name was COOTER?
Nice people here, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, and had a great view of the water. The location was great, very close to the excellent food co-op, and an easy run down to the running/walking/biking trail on the water. Easy walk to restaurants and also to the boatyard and marina (everyone needs to get off the boat and get a real shower sometimes, right?). We stayed in the single story part of the hotel, which is quite different looking than what I see in the photos, but clearly had some recent remodeling - probably the same set of rooms that Dan M is mentioning in another review. I'm sure we'll stay there again.
My GF and I got one of the older, cheaper rooms; I think it was #30. For the price, it wasn't bad, and the outdoor jacuzzi (on the deck) was a really nice amenity. Unfortunately, the room smelled pretty funky... Not sure what it was; kind of a stale, needs-to-be-aired-out smell. We did get used to it after a while, though, and the room looked clean. Also, very nice to be within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants on Water Street. I'd definitely stay there again.

Got to actually stay in the room where Officer and a Gentlemen was taped. Cool to actually see a peice of history.
The price was not that bad for what i was getting. Kitchenette, outdoor Jacuzzi, and lots of space for under 100. Scenerie was great - although there isnt much to do in this town.
Was directed to T's restaurant near the hotel.. AWESOME food.
The service at the hotel was great, prompt service and good food for breakfast (which was free)
I would definetly go back!

The Tides Inn, famous for being the local of Richard Gere's digs in the movie, an "Officer and a Gentleman," is my favorite place to stay in Port Townsend! The rooms are a bit gaudy and may remind you of your Aunt Fanny's attempt at a Victorian style decor, but it's packed with great amenities. The bathrooms are brand new, spacious, and equipped with a bench in the shower. Some even have heated toilet seats and bidet's! There are flip-of-the-switch gas log fireplaces and HUGE jacuzzi tubs for lots of fun. Make sure you also ask for a room with a ocean view balcony (some are offered with the jacuzzi tub on the balcony!).
Tides Inn is pretty much within walking distance to all the restaurants and cute shops downtown. Grab a nice dinner at T's and then head down to Siren's for a scrumptious Key Lime Martini. A nice soak in the 'cuzzi tub while sipping some champagne is the perfect ending to a relaxing getaway in the cutest little town of PT!
