Tiny hole-in-the-wall Tibetan restaurant in Boulder.  I tried this place after reading the reviews on Yelp.  I ordered the chili chicken and vegetarian Momo.  The chicken was in a tomato based sauce with chili and bell peppers.  I love spicy food, and although this dish had some heat it seemed to be lacking a bit in flavor.  The steamed dumplings were fantastic.  It's not a surprise that this is their signature dish.  I loved the dipping sauce and pickled cabbage on the side.  Seating is limited which probably makes this a good take out place.  It also works out perfectly if you're dining alone on a business trip!

The food could be spicier and I'd still go to Sherpa's if I had to pick a restaurant in Boulder for Tibetan/Nepalese cuisine.

However, for a lunch spot a couple blocks from my work, this place is great.  I've only tried a few items off the lunch combo menu, but all have been delicious.

I'm told that the hand-made Tibetan dumplings (mo-mos) are amazing, but the server suggested calling in ahead as they take a while to make.

I finally remembered to grab a delivery menu the last time I was here and I look forward to ordering from them on a day when I'm feeling especially lazy.

For freshly made and flavorful cheap lunch that wakes up my palate and gives me a zing of energy for the rest of my work day, Tibet Kitchen is the best.

Although I'm in no position to speak on the subject of authenticity, I can say that the Tibetan Buddhist teachers at nearby Naropa University, as well as visiting monks and nuns and all manner of Naropa students frequent the restaurant.  A certain Lama from Naropa has told me that the momos (dumplings) at Tibet Kitchen are the best.  Comparing to Sherpa's, or Tibet's Kitchen (in Louisville), I have to agree.

The momos are freshly made, right there in the restaurant.  You'll have to wait 15 minutes for them because they're made right when you order them! You can stand at the counter and watch, if you like. Their vegetarian momos vary in content depending on what vegetables are in season (more carrot and cabbage in the winter, more green vegetables in the summer), and the beef and chicken momos are always excellent.

Momos are served with a small side of cabbage salad and a dollop of their homemade hot sauce.  I don't know for sure what's in it, but it's the only hot sauce that I've had that produces three distinctly different and potent burns, and yet also feels balanced, consistent and smooth yet textured. It lingers nicely, and cools gently with a few sips of water.  I wish they'd bottle and sell it (I've asked).

Lunch options at Tibet Kitchen are excellent:  for less than $6 you get two kinds of dishes with fried rice or brown rice or noodles.  The dishes are often meat-based, but there are always at least 2 vegetarian options.  All dishes often have a variety of vegetables.  Nothing seems greasy or oily or overcooked, which is something I often find at other similarly priced Asian-ish lunch counter operations.

Really, it's the best food I've had at a restaurant in Boulder for around $5-7 per person. And the people that work there are all very genuinely friendly.

The only possible things to complain of:
limited seating

An update on the previous reviews: Tibet Kitchen no longer uses styrofoam:  food is served on stainless steel plates, and to-go items are in recyclable or biodegradable containers.

Got the Lela Momo and it was super delish. This place is great. The staff is pleasant and its clean.
Location is somewhat tough as the parking is limited but you can park across any of the streets and walk over. Its worth it. Very tasty and nutritious.

Caveat -- I've never been to Tibet, and I actually ate delivered food from Tibet Kitchen while on a quick visit to Boulder. So I don't have the best "frame of reference" to know what is authentic or how this compares to other places in Boulder. But I can say it was healthy and delicous. And the people there were extremely friendly. Plus, they delivered quickly and for free. I think it's a great option if you live close by and want very reasonably priced healthy food that's different than the usual pizza or Chinese.

The best part of Tibet Kitchen is pronouncing the food names- it's very fun.

And wow this place is great for food too!  It is so cheap you'll almost feel guilty, the food is fresh and delicious, there are tons of veggie options, and you get a free cup of hot chai for just walking in the door.

Minus one star because they only serve on Styrofoam, which is such an unnecessary waste...

Go here, bring your own Tupperware, and feast!

This is a delightful new Tibetan Restaurant on Arapahoe and Folsom in Boulder.  It is primarily a take-out restaurant but does have some seating, and two different small rooms for guests to dine in.

The menu was on the boards on the wall when my daughter and I went in there at dinnertime to eat.

The very nice gentleman who took our orders at the counter told us that they were out of several items on the board,  but we found plenty of yummy menu items to try.

My daughter tried the Sesha, which is described as fresh white mushroom with beef or chicken sauteed with onion, tomato, ginger, garlic, broccoli, zucchini, and red pepper.  It was excellent.

I tried the vegetarian Mo-mo (dumplings) and they were tasty.  They came with a small salad which I would describe as a Tibetan coleslaw, with a myriad of shredded vegetables that went well together.

I also had a spring roll, which came with a spicy and elegant sauce.  Quite good.

The tea was free, chai, not sure if it is always free. That was nice, though.

Pleasant, attentive service, and the bright colorful decor is harmonious and meditative.

Hopefully there will come a time when they will have everything on their menu at dinnertime.  It was a little frustrating that they did not have quite a few of the items on the menu.

We did thoroughly enjoy what we got.

They apparently have a location on the Hill also.

If you want the full menu available, go at lunch.

Just go. I haven't had food like this since I was in Boudhanath, Nepal, near the Great Stupa.
