I wasn't necessarily out of shape before meeting Andrew, but I found myself in a workout rut and lacked the motivation to continue the same routine I'd been following for all these years. Also, I thought that as a trainer, he might be able to help me with some nutrition tips (I mean, how much chicken can a guy eat in one week ... it gets old after a while). Ultimately, I needed a new fitness plan and I knew it wouldn't happen unless I hired a professional to guide me along.
After the first consultation, I knew I had aligned myself with the right person. Starting with a simple foundation, Andrew built up my workout routine to where it is now -- a fun variety of full-body exercises and core movements that increase lean muscle, decrease fat, and make you feel strong and healthy. I take what I learn from his sessions and replicate those same exercises on my own at my gym. Then I'll see Andrew again and he'll modify or add something new to my routine that challenges me even further.
Equally important, he put together a nutrition plan that was realistic enough to fit my busy work/life schedule and varied enough so I wouldn't be eating the same thing every day.
I highly recommend Andrew to anyone looking to improve their fitness and workout plan. -

I was first introduced to personal trainer, Andrew Duffy about two months ago from a friend. The timing couldn't have been better. I was in a complete exercise rut and had all but given up on achieving and, especially, maintaining my fitness goals. In previous months, I had overdone it by going from zero to running every single day and my joints really paid for it. I was in pain, unhappy, unmotivated, and seemingly back to square one without a plan.
I had considered joining a bootcamp here in San Francisco, since I heard there were a ton of those. I wanted the camaraderie and accountability of a group, but with my specific needs, I just didn't think I would get the personal attention I truly needed.
What I found was not bootcamp, but something much better - Fitcamp! What a concept! It truly combines the benefits of having group energy in my workouts, which I love, with personal training. Andrew did a thorough consultation with me and really heard what I had to say with regard to my injuries, fitness goals, interests, life style, diet, etc. and has taken that into account in our classes. Plus, it is just a lot of fun! Working out fun? I can't believe that I would be one to say that, but it's the truth! I look forward to my workouts now which is something I always wished for, but never seemed to find.
I know I might be gushing, but I am truly happy to give Andrew and his Fitcamp five stars. Since joining, I am motivated, have much more energy, have a consistent exercise schedule, and most importantly to me - I am no longer in pain, and I am loving my body again! -

After my broski got ill in NOV 09, I was in the hospital every day for the next 3 months. Forgot to eat healthy food, hospital food was the only choice! You know how hospital food tastes, when you are actually there!
So I was skipping the gym & then another 4 month after that, next thing I know! My body was completely out of shape!
Thanks to Andrew Duffy, he helps me to get back on track, with a work out plan that would fit my busy schedule even when I'm on the road & sleep only 4hrs a night!
I'm still have a long wait to go, but having Andrew support & training, make feel a lot better & so much easier than when I just go to the gym alone.
Andrew is very professional, warm personality & push you a step higher to achieve your goal that totally doable & fit your lifestyle.
I high recommend it him to all.Listed in: Pamper Yourself

Took part in Andrew's first Fit Camp this morning and had a great time and a great work out. Fit camp was a great option for me and my wife to save a little cash and still get personalized treatment.
The workout is full body and very thorough with a nice variety of exercises. Andrew does a good job of mixing it up and keeping you active so the class never got boring. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a little kick start to their day and workout routine. -

I have to agree with all of the other 5 star posts I see on here. I've had better result in the last 9 months of working with Andrew than seen in the previous 10yrs!
I've been intimidated in the past to work with a trainer but after observing Andrew working with other clients, I was drawn to his style and energy. We've been working on overall body work which has incorporated EVERY muscle group including my body's core. I completed my 7th AIDS LifeCycle in June, and have never felt better before, during and after! Thank you Andrew! You're amazing! I'm almost ready for that TRI I've been talking about. -

I've long been battling a string of injuries and dealing with pain in many parts of my body. A lot of this is from my past, but just as much has to do with the workouts I have been doing and the lack of knowledge I had about what is right and what is wrong (doing squats and bench pressing followed by sitting in a chair for 10 hours has been hurting more than helping).
I finally went to see Andrew and we focused on issues like flexibility, developing core strength, movement, identifying the pain points, etc. I was amazed how, in just one session, a few stretching exercises taught me more about my body than I had learned in the previous years combined.
Andrew knows what he is talking about. He is very educated and has a great interest in helping people not only feel better about themselves now, but in helping build the foundation to what will certainly be better health and fitness in the long run and old age.

i ran into my personal trainer Andrew Duffy at my gym club one. he was working out without shoes and i said isn't that a little dangerous but he told me he was a trainer so i asked him some questions on how to strengthen my back, he was super helpful and i inquired about getting some sessions with him. I bought 10 sessions with him and he was cool, calm and collective, very knowledgeable on body mechanics and muscle groups. He mixes up the workout and knows what u need to work on before he pushes u to do something out. He is encouraging and not intimidating and he takes it when i whine about my workout. He is great and everyone should have a trainer once in their life because they make a workout plan custom for u. I didn't get a trainer cause i needed motivation but because he has great knowledge on how to make a fitness plan to make a better me!

As a physical therapist, I tend to be very critical of exercise instructors and trainers. I had a 1-week FitCamp trial with Andrew to shake up my exercise routine a bit. I liked how he chose a variety of functional exercises, provided motivation and guidance, and had a positive attitude toward fitness. I can't imagine him yelling at anyone in class like other boot camp instructors are known for.
If you are looking for an injury-free boot camp with quality instruction, I would definately recommend Andrew and FitCamp. -

Andrew is an amazing personal trainer. I have worked out with him now for a few months and I have seen dramatic improvement in my strength and overall fitness. He is a very different type of personal trainer - heavy on core training and balance rather than brute strength through the use of barbells. It is very effective because you can use his training anywhere. He is also a very compassionate and understanding and understated trainer - He motivates through encouragement. He is calming and yet motivating. I have to say I look forward to my Saturday workouts all week. I can also say I look forward to the day I get strong enough that I am not sore the next day!

I can truly say that Andrew Duffy changed my life and the way I look at fitness and health. He does not typify the stereotype of a personal trainer who thinks that pumping iron all day long is a good way to get in shape and be healthy. By focusing on the development of my body's core muscular system, teaching me what we were doing and why, Andrew taught me exercises that engaged my entire body and developed my balance, flexibility and endurance along with my overall strength. In working with Andrew over the last year, I haven't become some out-of-proportion, beefy-chested, gym junky. Rather, my body's entire muscular system has steadily grown stronger and my overall health has improved.
That's the other thing that's wonderful about Andrew's very adept personal training: his focus on your overall well-being rather than simply fitness. Andrew, as a certified personal trainer, understands that health is not just about exercise, but a more comprehensive lifestyle choice relating to nutrition and mental wellbeing in addition to fitness. He helped me learn what kind of foods to eat and why and taught me stress-reduction techniques related to breathing and proper posture that, between those and our training sessions, have largely relieved years of chronic back pain and excessive stressing.
If you're looking for someone who will take the time to understand your personal fitness needs and who can tailor a workout to your body, life and schedule, then I recommend working with Andrew. You'll never look at your health the same way again. -

A year ago, I was going through a major midlife crisis. Everything seemed to have worked against me. I lost my job and after years of self neglect and daily stress took its toll. I needed to regenerate my spirit and health so I focused on getting on track by working out and changing a lot of my personal bad habits. Working out developed a lot of determination and focus. I've had other personal trainers in previous years and most of them didn't really took the time to work with me in achieving my goals.
Working with a personal trainer like Andrew Duffy was key to making me achieve that change. Andrew takes the time to work out with your weaknesses and builds it to strength. He's a great motivator and keeps you in the right track. He makes you challenge yourself to achieve the optimum results. He's knowledgeable about kenetics and strength building. He uses applied knowledge to educate you in to best bringing out the potential to where you want to be physically. After a year, I've shed almost 20 unwanted pounds, developed more muscle mass and decrease the body fat percentage. I feel and look better than I did in my 20's. Who says you can't reverse the effects of time. Working out with an Ace trainer like Andrew defies the process of advance aging, the effects of gravity and reverse the effects of time. After a year, my confidence level is at its highest. I feel better, eat smart and get the best trainer. The newly restored confidence level got me a new job. -

I've been working with Andrew for a couple of months now, and I believe that he is the best personal trainer for me.
Andrew stands out from other personal trainers that I have done sessions with because he really cares about me, he is very knowledgeable about his field, and he clearly loves what he does.
Most trainers treat training like it is a job. For him, it is a long-term career and a lifestyle.
The fact that Andrew observes and inquires about my lifestyle, energy levels, mood, and eating habits, offering me customized stretching tips and dietary ideas proves to me that he is able to provide me with much more than just a great workout.
Andrew knows exactly how hard to push me, but never too hard. I am still trying to figure out how he is able to achieve this perfect balance! I especially appreciate that fact that he checks in with me and carefully monitors my exertion levels throughout our workouts with his attentive and calm manner.
I need a trainer who is engaged, focused, and who cares about my health and fitness success as much as I do. This is very hard to find, but Andrew absolutely posesses these qualities.
The best part about training with Andrew is that it is a lot of fun! I often leave his sessions feeling euphoric, especially after the outdoor ones, which give me an excuse to enjoy a beautiful SF day. After all, who can't afford to spend a bit more time in the sun and fresh air with today's busy lifestyle?! -

I met Andrew Duffy from a friend who had recently lost an incredible amount of weight, have increased energy and a new outlook to live. I' the steriotypical Indian guy that has a spare tire that I thought I couldn't get rid of (thought it was genetics the entire time) From the first interaction of Andrew, I could tell that working with me to achieve my personal fitness goals was his passion. This guy is dedicated to this clients and really really wants to get them in shape. He looks like Adonis with a great repoire. His motivation and inspirational attitude keeps me going with my work out routines. I leave the gym knowing that he has kicked my butt into high gear....and his advice has worked wonders. My wife loves my new look and my energy and my patients and staff can see my new zest. I'm even getting rid of my Indian gut and look like an Indian movie star....Watch out Bollywood - here I come! Thanks to Andrew Duffy!
