Review Highlights
I love Thrift Town. The thrift stores in San Jose are overpriced and the staff is less than friendly. I was expecting the same issues when I came to Thrift Town but I was wrong.
The women working on the floor actually made small talk and the young guys working the registers joked around with me. The store is also very organized and CLEAN too. I found a Gap cardigan for $2.99 and we picked up a high chair for $4.99!
Note: Their 'better items' section isn't that great. I've seen Walmart stuff there. Most of the items still had original tags. I guess that is what makes them 'better'?
Know your brands!! I got a top from the Splendid line at Bloomindale's for $3. also watch out for sales!!
stay away from the panties!!
some items havent been washed...EVER!!!
look at the type of fabric you are buying your item in. Silk for 50 cents. hell yeah!!
i got 8 things for $25.
id say the better brands rack is overrated cuz i found better stuff and better brands on the cheap rack. like things from Nordstroms and Bloomingdale's.
pretty good shoe selection for those with small feet and those looking for high heels.
great VHS selection.
id wait a week or o cuz i bought all the cute stuff already.
oh and i got a cashmere scarf for less than a buck. because who ever sorts the items when they come in are pretty un-knowledgable in terms of quality. Bloomingdales for 3 bucks and JCPenny tshirt for 7 bucks!! ill take bloomingdales thanks very much.

Wow. Im really impressed at this place!!!
Me and my lil sis went there and got:
A gray bomber type… Read more »
This is a great thrift shop!! I'm starting to just think any Thrift Town is gold!! Yes it is smaller than the Thrift Town in San Leandro with a smaller selection they gain a point because today they had all movies on sale for .49 cents where as the San Leandro location had their movies for .99 cents. Still both cheap, but hey.. Broke college student has to save every penny!!
Their men's department is smaller than the San Leandro department, there was a very small jacket section which sucked because that's what my Fiancee and I came looking for. Plus none of their jeans fit me. Which was a bummer. The plus was I found a BRAND NEW computer game for only $1.99 which currently at Target they are selling for $19.99!!
Very friendly staff here, a bit more friendly than the San Leandro one. And this place also isn't as busy as San Leandro. I'd come here for their neat game selection.
This is my favorite thrift store in my neighborhood. They have a great selection of changing merchandise at pretty good prices. The clothes are always in great shape and the books are at fantastic prices.
They do get three stars instead of 4 or 5 due to service only. Their lines are incredibly long and their employees are very unfriendly. Their jewelry and items "in the case" are greatly over priced. I still recommend visiting this store for clothes, furniture and household goods, just overlook the customer service aspect.
I went to Thrift Town for the first time yesterday and I was quite impressed.
They have a lot of clothes, shoes, purses, belts, etc. Some eletronic things. Some good looking furniture.
It's reasonably priced for the area. I'm from the Midwest and it's much cheaper, but I believe the store has overall better selection (people on the west coast dress better?)
If you haven't been I'd say give it a go.
Drove out here yesterday to search for some cute stuff with 20 bucks in hand. I was shocked at the prices! Michael Stars and Banana Republic tops for $2! I found a super cute, still new, Free People top that I'd seen at Nordstroms a few months ago for $2. I was sold =].
The only gripes? Takes a while to get a fitting room because you have to ring a bell for them to come open one up and the jewelry was hard to look at because they were tangled up in trays behind glass cases.
Overall though, good deals make me a happy camper.
Totally clean and super organized, one of the best thrifts I've scoured around in.
This place is pretty massive, and has some another thrift shop around the complex called Community Thrift and gift
Items are super duper cheap, organized, CLEAN, and a mix of vintage and thrift. I saw a F21 top and an old (but clean) Dr. Marten pair of shoes.
This place puts Saver's to shame, and their standards here must be pretty high because the employees seemed pretty shocked when my friend commented on how organized the areas are. Like they couldn't believe what he was saying.
Aside from children's, mens, womens, shoes and accessories (LOTS of accessories! Oh My!):
Lots of housewares, some electronics, records, furniture...
They close at 8pm, and remember LEAVE THE HANGER IN THE RACK.
THIS PLACE IS FREAKING AWESOME. So awesome that I managed to still find great things in under 10 minutes (because I swooped in before they did the "Last Call") in a rush. Definitely worth a visit, but make sure to have lots of time.
Thrift Town is very large and has a great selection of vintage clothing, books, records, and misc. items.
I found a Mark McGuire signed Oakland Athletics bat that they were selling for only 6 bucks. Great find and you can find many things like that. Some of the merchandise, however, is mislabeled or broken.
Overall, it was pleasant. The employees were sort of strange and unpleasant, but I didn't mind. Great place for anyone looking for random fun things and vintage/trendy clothing for great prices.
Love this place! When I was younger I was like ewwww I'm not going there. But now older, and wiser :), I know better. I've found great finds here like brand new designer clothes... and of course lotsa big old teddy bears and blankets for my doggy baby and the local animal shelter!! I even get some books from here sometimes since I forget to return them from the library lol! don't be frugal about money here, come on.
Yaye!
This is my 2nd favorite store of all time. (Second only to Forever21)
The selection is AMAZING and some of my most complimented clothing articles came from here. My best find ever was a pair of Chuck Taylors for $3! Also, the women's selection of T-Shirts is amazing!
God, I love this place.
I LOVED everything that I got from here. Unlike the pretentious LA thrift stores where there are no items less than $10, thrift town was huge and had a variety of items. Furniture, clothes, jewelry, books you name it.
I got the following for just under 30 bucks:
4 books
2 necklaces
1 silver plate for my jewelry
1 awesome vintage bag
result: walked out feeling better than I would've at a shopping mall
I remember the days when I could only afford to shop at thrift stores, I hated it and always longed to buy something full price. Now that I'm older, I choose to shop at thrift stores and realize the beauty and value behind it. I've ventured to many Bay Area thrift stores but now I have this awesome one right in my own backyard. From time to time, I like to stick my head in and see if there is anything worthy on the racks. Usually, I walk out with only the thrift store stench on my clothes, but sometimes I score big (Swatch watch w/o battery for .69 cents!!).
Thrift Town is located next to Walgreens and some neighborhood mom and pop shops in the Meadow Square Shopping Center, which always has tons of parking spots. The square shaped interior of the store is pretty clean and fairly organized. The clothing racks are always stocked up and sorted by item, size and color. The jewelery section is a little harder to navigate, as you will need someone to assist you with your purchase. The kicker with Thrift Town is that they have extra savings based on the color of the price tag, so just when you thought everything in your cart was going to cost you $5 bucks, suddenly you get rung up and only have to pay $3 for your new recycled goods. Sweet!
I came here with Serbelle because we needed to burn a couple hours.
I ended up buying:
A very nice glass bowl for $0.69 and some marbles.
And then we went to Petsmart and bought a beta fish, so now we can match.
Who's going to place bets that my fish will outlive hers?
Polaroid One Step Close Up = $3.99
Lots of random things for cheap. The only thing I was really interested in was the Polaroid cameras.
This just may be the best thrift store on the PLANET. The stock rotates quickly, stuff is priced to sell, and the store is clean and organized. Clothes are organized well not only by size, but by color. I have gotten EXTREME deals here. Can't say enough good about this place. I buy all my kid's toys and clothes here. I also get various household items here.
I love this place.
This place is freaking huge and VERY well organized. Need a bowling ball? Well they have them and for under $3.00, or how about a full face helmet?, maybe a suitcase, shoes, or almost anything else you can think of. They have have a large selection of books (I got "Lovely Bones") for just $2.00, a white Banana Republic sweater. They have a bunch of coats and so much more. It does get crowded but probably because of all the deals they are constantly having and all the fun stuff you can find if you look and dig hard enough.
I like this place because it is SO organized. Everything is categorized, which I tend to do. I didn't do much looking, just walking around. But the store is well kept. It's clean and doesn't smell too bad. The fact that its that anally organized impresses me. They have so many things; you probably need a few hours if you want to do some shopping. If you need jeans, this is a good place. SOOOOO many jeans. And everything is in pretty good condition from what I saw. Even the shoes were color coordinated. I'm obsessed with categorizing, sorry! My friend and I saw a pair of Nike Air force ones I the theme of the shoes was Scarface..Um gross? lol but it was just amusing to see. I found the lingerie section a bit gross, but even the underwear was hung neatly. The jewelry section looks like stuff people from Dynasty would wear. They even have products such as lotion and sunblock?! There's also a section for books, electronics, and stuff for the house. Seriously, checking it out is a trip and fun!
STILL the best thrift store I've found. I've been to SF, Berkeley, Melrose, Hollywood, and this is still my fave because I'm not a fan of the more pricey "Vintage Thrift" stores. REAL thrift store prices, big selection, amazing sales, great finds. They have a little section by the dressing rooms labeled "Vintage", make sure you hit that up ladies. Once my friend found an Oscar De La Renta silk scarf for $2.99. I checked the stitching, print, color, texture...it felt real!
Of course, like any thrift store, it's hit or miss.
Not everyone needs or likes to shop at thrift stores, but if you happen to be one who does, this place is for you. This is the best thrift store I've found. It's HUGE. It's CHEAP (1.99-2.99 for a blouse...GW charges twice that or more). Granted, thrift shopping is sometimes discouraging. At Thrift Town, time, patience, and shopping with care, can pay off in improving your wardrobe for less than a McCafé Mocha. My most recent purchase there came to a total of $23 for 7 items of clothing including three beautiful, and seemingly new, sweater tops. If that weren't enough, my current two favorite articles of clothing came from this place in like-new condition and much better quality than I can reasonably afford at retail stores (one from Coldwater Creek...$3..yay!). Gotta love that. My only warnings: 1) try things on. 2) expect to try A LOT of things on and maybe buy nothing. 3) check the seams and the material for pulls, stains, etc. because they do not filter very well if at all. 4) Lots of items are put out every week, so: "If at once you don't succeed, try, try again" Happy Hunting.
Firstly, let's put this on the table: this is a thrift store, so it won't be as gorgeous or convenient as a boutique (with the same pair of shoes new, but for 100 times the price). You will have to dig for your treasure, which is the point, and the charm. But Thrift Town makes that easy by meticulously (for a thrift store especially) organizing their clothes, even separating the long- and short-sleeved blouses!
I can't go here very often anymore, because my closet is bulging. Many things that I have purchased here over the years (a dozen and counting!) are still in my closet, stand-by classics, and pieces that make people exclaim, "oh my gosh, where'd you get that?"
If anything turns out to be a "miss," or most likely for me, something that I was too lazy to alter like I had planned, just donate it back--no harm done, with everything at such low prices.
This place also takes me back--it was my hangout in high school (went to Irvington, across the street), and I'd buy a $1 lunch so that I could spend the rest of my lunch allowance here! My favorite thing is to get in the "zone" and traverse the entire store, in a clockwise direction. Used to be able to find some AWESOME records as well.
One time, I really lucked out, it was like a dream--real, genuine, vintage Christian Dior clutch for $7, kid you not.
This is why we shop at Thrift Town.
I like to peek my head into this store every now and then, and sure enough more times than not, I find something cool or to my taste, for an awesome price tag. I am not scared or concerned about used items, for I am an advocate of re-using/recycling. I love owning stuff and putting it to good use what another may have gotten rid of.
I've gotten Pyrex and earthenware bake ware here, a cast iron pot, vintage glass bottles to hang on shelves. Just recently, I found a vintage "Star Wars" t-shirt that actually fit ($2), an Adidas slick jogging top "a la 80's breaking days" ($9), and a pimp-ass (and I'm talking a pimp probably did own this at one time) herringbone overcoat ($18). Yea, I splurged on that one, but it has the soft, fuzzy collar and everything and Halloween is just around the corner and with a few accessories IE rimmed hat, gold tooth, cane and goblet, boo ya, I'm stylin like Huggy Bear.
Gots to come here with no expectations, with some time on your hand cuz you needs to dig for treasure, and a sense of adventure. I often leave empty handed but every once in a while, like a gem in the rough, something goes by many people's eyes, only to land on my lap. Score. It's a cool feeling.
I found some true vintage gems here: old-fashioned but still functioning sewing machine (complete with table), ice cream churners (real bucket!), pocket watches, and retro aprons. The deals are unbelievable enough, but they still have sale days and VIP membership if you want even more discounts. I get the feeling the clothes are authentically vintage, too. The employees are extremely nice and patient. I can't wait to come back.
Some scores!
$1 red high-waisted skirt
$1.50 purple high-waisted skirt
$2 vintage apron
I bought:
A grey/neon pink houndstooth scarf
A hot pink 5x7 picture frame, still wrapped
A black lacy slip
A wooden plaque painted with a cartoonish owl
Total price: $5.30
HOW COOL, RIGHT?! A bunch of useless crap for only five bucks! I love useless crap!
I'm a long time customer of this store. When I cant decide where I want to go shop - I just stop here. I love all their sales, the half off colored tag deals. Coupons you get in the Valpak mailings and if you are a VIP member you ll get occasional coupons mailed to you.
I once won a $100 gift card & a sweatshirt from this place, I think my name was choosen from the fish bowl in the front of the store (cant remember its been a while. It was a nice surprise though.)
Just today I drug my husband with me here. I love the huge selections of books - why spend more to buy a new book? doesn't make sense. Browsed the knickknack section and moseyed on over to the shoes. I dint like it that they dint separate by size, I almost gave up and left until I stumbled upon a pair of nice black Doc Martens (I was thinking ok these must be $25 or something, I flipped them over to my surprise, $6! And yes they are real! I suppose who ever priced them didn't know that brand or just didn't care. These shoes looked like they were worn 1-2 times. score!
This place can smell like your grandmas house but I dint mind. Its a nice place to buy kids clothes and a favorite place for me to come during Halloween time to shop for a costume to put together.
Love this place! Oh and a good tip is to buy opposite seasons, winter time stuff in the summer (like jackets) and summer time stuff in the winter (shorts, skirts, sandals) since those things will be prices somewhat lower.
Several years ago, Thrift Town on Blacow in Fremont used to be an excellent place to find hidden treasures, but now it seems like the "cream" is being skimmed off behind-the-scenes before items ever make it to the shelves.
I can't blame Thrift Town for doing that, but what's left nowadays for shoppers is mostly a tired heap of 1970s-80s junk that can be found in almost any resale shop.
The good vintage items that do make it to the shelves are usually overpriced, sometimes absurdly so.
Still, the store is pleasant to shop in, and some small finds can still be made, but the glory days seem to have passed.
I cannot believe how neat/clean/organized this thrift store is.
Reasonably priced items and some not so reasonable.
A few namebrands, but not too many stellar things.
A cool note: Their vintage section (very small) is actually cheap instead of outrageously inflated prices just because it is vintage.
A stinky note: This thrift store may be clean/organized, but it still stinks like yuck. You know the traditional thirft smell... Ewww.
All in all, worth the trip to Fremont and I will be going back.
With things so neat, it's easy to get in, take a look around and get out.
Recommended!
Vintage two piece outfit for $3.99, the skirt doesn't fit, but ohh well... Vintage top for $3.99... still wonderful.
Totally worth an hour long visit if you are the thrifting type.
I was pleasantly surprised by this store. Everything was much more organized and perhaps a little cleaner than the other thrift stores I've been too. I found some really interesting things in here for great prices. A lot of little knick knacks for around a dollar. The shoes and clothes are neatly organized. Left with a cute calendar, unique wallet, and a book that I needed for a class. Came up to only 6 dollars. They also threw in a couple coupons for future visits, not that you'd need it because of the cheap prices. Compared to other thrift stores, a majority of the items were in good condition and perhaps vintage, rather than just junk people didn't want.
I love this place! I can get a whole cart full of stuff for next to nothing and there are usually coupons in the mail that save me even more money. How can you beat that? I usually go in there to buy props for photography or if I have an art project where I want to basically destroy and rebuild. The last time I was there, I bought an old bar stool for $3 and I have been using that as a photo prop. If it's a chair that can fit in my mini cooper and is under $5, I am game! The people there are very friendly and helpful. I always walk out of there with clothing and trinkets that make me smile.
Though I admit that for a thrift store this place has a pretty good selection, the prices on much of the items are absolutely ludicrous! I have been abroad for a year and came back to my favorite thrift town to find that they had gone completely out of their minds. Every shirt I picked up cost between $6 to $10...$10 for a used shirt?? Are you kidding? I'll take my money to Ross or Marshalls and buy something new!
Wow!!! Everything here is SOOOOO CHEAP!!!! And it's in Fremont/Newark so most people don't think to go here to find vintage gems. I always find something here, unlike when I go to Savers in Milpitas or SJ... Those places get cleaned out quick. A lot of their vintage stuff is high fashion that will sell on eBay for $$$$$$$$. They have a large selection of used and vintage dresses, my fave!
Love this place. I usually go there for books, purses, blouses, CD's and pottery. The prices are FANTASTIC. Very clean and organized. The clerks are very friendly. I can usually find a lot of books on my "to read" list for a few bucks.
this place has a huge selection of clothing to choose from. it's somewhat organized but not entirely. the staff is verrrry unfriendly (the woman working in the dressing rooms yelled at me for not taking every single item out....and the clerks at the "check out" were too busy having a conversation with one another and were unable to greet me or even stop talking long enough to see if i had any questions). i would definitely go here again though, i would just treat the employees with the same respect they give their customers. ;)
envied is spot on when she (i hope shes a she; haven't peeped the profile yet) says that its a total hit or miss.
i either bank on some good ass threads or fail miserably. my most prized gem: a rappin 4 tay sweatshirt thats from his playaz club dayz. maybe in the future i'll edit this post and post a link to the pic of the sweatshirt bc its seriously ill. you know waht? f it i'll do it now.
so there it is: http://pictureposter.a...
as of late the thrift has produced nothing for me. i've found like 2 or 3 shirts there in the total last 4 times i've been. either i'm not being creative enough or its going downhill. i still give it 4 stars for the good ol' dayz.
i think this place is going downhill. that, or i've found everything i needed. i've got everything from shirts, jackets, movies, old man pants, and sunglasses. the prices are really good for the quality of clothes they have there.
The prices have been going up, a lot. I think it's becoming more fashionable to shop at thrift stores. It's hard to find stuff as cheap as it was just a few months ago.
For timeless and classic pieces, come take your pick here at Thrift Town. With thousands of items a day, it is guaranteed that a visit will yield fruitful. I needed a matching set of jumpsuits: I found a his and hers top and bottoms Adidas knock-offs for about $10 each. I also found a lot of jackets that most people still compliment me on: stuff you really can't buy for $5, $6, or at most $10. Special coats may get overpriced based on your expectations, but lots of plaid button-ups, questionable jeans, and lots of uniforms if you are into that kind of stuff like I was. The "vintage" section is usually small and overpriced, and normally I never find anything because the things look like they came from an old bowling league. Tons of jewelry for women and some books and records to rummage through. I wouldn't mess with the "As is" electronics though. I remember getting a bumper sticker here, "Your mom will think you are Superman... for the saving you will be doing." HAHAhAh, with a humor like that (corny), the place deserves at least 30 minutes, a creative mindset, and $20. -Matt
i used to call it my little secret, well before the whole vintage craze. now its crawling with scouts and teenie boppers tryin to hard. the pickins are slim, the jewelry is priced to high for being a thrift shop, and don't even bother with the dressing rooms. thrift town is a total hit or miss. check it out but don't go in with high expectations.
dis is da spot right here. i like it a lot. i usually spend about 2 hours in here if im getting all the things i want. its better than the san francisco thrift town i say. cooler stuff, better prices.
