This is another of those places where I bring the average age down to about 75. It is always crowded as folks in the area think it's the greatest place ever - probably because of the inexpensive lunch and dinner specials. The food is ok, but nothing too spectacular. It's a good place to come with the folks.
I've always wondered who would name their restaurant 3-star though. I have to say the owners are not lying - it truly is 3 stars, but still, haven't they heard of marketing - always claim you're better than you are!
Food is acceptable. The fish is good. Service is the worst and very nasty waiters who barely speak English and act as though they are doing you a big favor. The bussers are better than the waiters.
The manager is nice but not assertive and aggressive enough to get this place in order and get those moronic rude servers to do their job in a pleasant and professional manner . Hey its a very lame and dated Brooklyn neighborhood-what do you expect? Its really a shame. * Stay away from the desserts, theyre pretty awful !
I absolutely LOVE this place! I always come here with a friend to share the three course meal together since it comes in such large portions. This place is sort of like your typical italian restaurant except the food is cheap and tastes great. Easy on the wallet, and a happy stomach is a win win in my case. The three course meal comes with soup or salad, dessert and beverages and the entree all for around 25 dollars. Cheap much?
This place doesn't know if it's a restaurant or a diner. It serves both functions appropriately, but I guess that doesn't matter too much. The food is pretty good and the service is meh, but overall you know you're in a decent and established venue if there are a lot of old people dining there. The host up front is really nice, but waiter service usually takes a while.
Here comes the answer to the obvious question: Yes, they do live up to their name. This place is nothing particularly special, unless you're in love with one of their dishes or specials. It's also right next to the Q train, which is a big draw for commuters.
