The interior is staid with a dated decor, without any grand spaces for dining. Ceilings are low. The menu and service are both classic, straight out the manual on how to set up and run a french 'relais'. The sommelier with the accent, the head waiter who leads you to your table, etc.
Service is very good, the food is very good, but with all the hype and the premium price it should knock you out, which it does not.

I went to Henkelmann's a couple years ago with a couple cousins, my wife, and our daughter who was 2 months old at the time. First off, the experience was highlighted by the fact that our 2 month old slept in her car seat for the entire 3 hour meal and never once made a peep. In fact our waiter wasn't even aware the she was there at the table until we got up to leave. Now to the restaurant, it's got a classic old French Inn feel to it which is nice. The wine list was extensive and the menu was fun and inventive. I got the trio of foie gras to start and the lamb entree, I can't remember what my wife got to start but she had the filet for her entree. All 3 of these dishes were superb, exactly what I would have expected and hoped for at these prices. Pretty spendy but with so many high end eateries that gouge your wallet and don't deliver, I can happily report that Henkelmann's does.

World class and an unmatched environment.  Patrons a tad affected but if one gets beyond that this is a unique dining experience.

A restaurant without equal.  Rated 5 stars by many of the world's foremost reviewers, the quality of Thomas Henkelmann is apparent immediately after you sit down.  The service is incredible, with waiters catering to your every need.  The food is also absolutely amazing.  The sirloin steak I had melted in my mouth with a terrific taste.  The other members of my party had the same things to say about their dinner.  Of course, such opulence and service doesn't come without a price.  Thomas Henkelmann's is in the much higher price range, but it's certainly worth it for an amazing meal.
