I love this Think, it is HUGE with tons of couches! Sadly the WIFI is tuuuurrriblee though.

V J is spot on with demographics so I won't delve into that.

Think uses greenware, accept credit cards, and give profits to charity!!!

The employees are always friendly to me and perform great espresso pours.

One of the few places I keep coming back to for coffee.

* Think Coffee is one of the nyu strongholds. At any point of time, the crowd is approximately composed of 50-60% nyu guys, 20-25% tourists, 10-15% locals, 5-10% professors. Error estimate: +/-5%...
{ Just trying to infuse some statistical humor into my rather dry and boring reviews :) }

* Most of the people (including me) come here to surf laptops on the free wifi, while some others are immersed in reading their books. And then there are some who just watch people around or chat with their companions.

* There is no guarantee you'll get a seat to sit coz people tend to sit for hours with the laptops and coffee. The coffee is good by the way. Plus you could have some bagels, muffins and other baked items.

* It also has a neatly stocked wine bar, some magazines to read by... so, just chill out, unwind, relax and have fun...

Yes, the lack of seating/outlets is annoying - it's right by NYU, what did you expect?  Snag a seat during off-hours and you'll be fine.

Their coffee is all organic and stuff, but where Think Coffee really shines is their new, single-origin French roasts.  Each cup is made to order, filled to the brim with smooth, complex, perfectly rich coffee.

In addition, it's super caffeinated, big, and cheaper than most other things on the menu.

Added bonus?  Getting rung up by the beautiful Blue Bandana, who is the love of my life....

(Note: it's a pricey, high-calorie treat, but their Spanish latte is super tasty as well.)

Rather than studying for my Nursing final, I've been trying to figure out the name of this place for 20 minutes. I heart this place. Like, big puffy-heart it. I'm a St. Louis native, but frequent NYC monthly to visit my boyfriend. He goes to work, I go to Think (just apparently never paid attention to the name of this loverly establishment).

The ambiance and decor is what keeps bringing me back. If there were a study heaven, this would be mine. It's like an artsy, Eco-friendly, vintage-y blend of goodness. I have yet to try their food, but the coffee keeps me satisfied (keep in mind that I'm not at all persnickety about my coffee- it's always loaded up with cream and sugar). If I could change any one thing about Think, it'd be additional seating. However, this doesn't bother me enough to delete a star.

(Did I mention they sell the artwork on the walls?)

Lucky, you may call me.
Been to this one on Mercer street a couple of times before but I kinda didn't settle because of crowd. Then I tried again and the perseverance must have been paid off; the night I walked into, there was a film showing, one of my favorite Alfred Hitchcoke's 1955 movie "To catch a thief". Cary Grant and Grace Kelly were almost shining!

Simply lovely to watch a movie at a cafe, like old time Italian cafe, sipping espresso. Better you can have wine or beer. People working there were very laid back and friendly.Only thing I was missing was a friend to sit with since it was just an unplanned visit.
Still I enjoyed watching it alone!

After seeing Circumcise Me, at the Bleeker St theater, we decided to find a place to grab a quick cup of coffee. Knowing that its NYC and we wouldn't have to walk far to find a coffee joint, we walked to the corner and staring us in the face was the "Think Coffee" sign.

We walked in and it was definitely your typical independent city type of coffee house. This is the type of place I could picture myself going into on a regular basis.

All of the employees there were extremely friendly. We being kosher wanted to make sure that the flavorings added to the coffee would be kosher (since coffee by default is kosher). The guy behind the register was more than willing to go and check all the bottles, even though the way it was set up, it was a round about way he needed to go and do it.

I ordered a vanilla latte, which they added a cool little design into the foam on the top.

My only beef is their large seemed to be pretty small for a large, and the latte wasn't as sweet as I typically like it, but it was still very good.

A coffeehouse near the NYU Washington Square campus.

The place is a bit dirty, and they hung a broom in order to keep a door open... the dirt off the broom ending up floating down towards a table with drinks. Not cool.

The red velvet cake here isn't bad - they actually asked which piece we wanted rather than give us any of them... on a real plate, though not real silverware. The coffee and tea were okay, nothing special. Soup looked good, though, with a side of a piece of bread. The person making coffee didn't look happy at all...

Front space there's an elevated seating area and a side area, and the back has benches, sofas, chairs and tables. They can definitely make some open space in the back.

They serve some beers.

Their coffee is all organic, fair trade, yadda, yadda, yadda, and pretty decent, which is the reason they keep my business.  I'm also a sucker for the way they make designs with the milk on top of your drink.

The staff is always friendly (I even once got a high five from one of the guys who works there).  The only downside is that it's always jam-packed with students and pretentious posers with laptops.  Who can study or write in such a crowded loud place?

...Maybe I'm just bitter because I've only been able to snag a table once.  I always get a soy chai latte, and definitely recommend it.  I got a mocha once and it was so-so.

But I keep going back...

I am only here for the 7-8pm happy hour.
Whenever I visit "Think Coffee", I "Think Beer."
Got myself a pint of Sixpoint Bengali Tiger for $3 here!
I don't care for their coffee, wine, or cheese...
I just want the happy hour craft ales, please???

Closest thing to a Seattle coffeehouse I've found since moving to New York City: plenty of seating, free WiFi, chill atmosphere, and a focus on artisan coffee and local ingredients/snacks. Unlike most New Yorkers, I am not fond of Dunkin Donuts Coffee and Seattle spoiled me to try the local varieties around here. Try the Triple Espresso, Iced Coffees are decent. The Lemon Bar is terrible, don't spend $2.95 on it.

Also, Think Coffee has an elaborate menu of coffee items that you'll ask -- what is that? The Red Eye is a drink that's 2 shots epresso and a cup of coffee combined. The Spanish Coffee should be called VIETNAMESE Coffee because its coffee with condensed milk (served hot or cold). Uh, hello, as a Chinese/Viet, I can tell you we made that popular to sell -- not really the Spanish, ha.

This place is a gathering hub for NYU students so be prepared for lack of seating. I always take my things to go because I never find room.

Think Coffee. Think Coffee. Think Coffee.

Well, as far as think coffee goes it gets one part of its name right. Think. This coffee shop is a great place to settle down and write the newest page of your manuscript or read the latest 500 page book but in terms of the latter part of the title, Coffee, it is severely lacking.

I like this place, don't get me wrong, the ambiance is nice and the staff is amiable, I just wouldn't want to eat here. If you can smuggle some food and a good thermos of better coffee, I would say never sit at your desk again and turn Think Coffee into your new home office but I think the observant staff might catch on. All in all, it's a good place in a pinch but if you can find better, and you most certainly can in the city, do.

This was my haven for grading during my first year of teaching... really nicely brewed iced coffees, and decent sandwiches. Not a huge fan of their desserts except for the vegan cupcakes they get from Sacred Chow.

It can be a bit frustrating when the WiFi goes down, or when the NYU kids take over all the seats, but overall, a pretty nice place to work.

Get there early though, to stake out prime real estate (I like the two-person tables across from the counter), and you'll be all set!

This place was shown on one of the well-known Korean television show past this month when 6 of celebrity guys went and got coffees from there. It was a mission to complete and had made fun over that they couldn't speak fluent English (or something sort in that line)

My boyfriend and I also took a trip to this place after curious how the coffee tasted, if anything was significantly fancier. I love the cozy interior, the vintage'd out furnitures, the fact they served wine and beer. Nut'ting magical about the coffee though, I have to say, they do make their Spanish Espresso a tad bit bitter.

I really like this place.

I first came here for the 7-8pm happy hour ($3 Stellas!) and had a good time with my friends. The staff is super nice and I really like the layout of the place.

The second time I went here I got a Spanish Latte and a Grilled Cheese sandwich. Both were awesome and I've came back multiple times to order the same exact thing.

Looking forward to coming back here soon and trying new things!

Despite the fact that the place was crammed with NYU students and their MacBooks (finding a seat is difficult but possible as long as you're not totally anti-social or claustrophobic), and in spite of the overpriced coffee, I enjoyed it...well, until the WiFi went out around 9 pm Sunday night. After about 15 mins, I asked the guy at the counter  what was up. He informed me that the WiFi had been crappy over the last month and that the owner just really didn't care enough to do anything about it. Well, that's a great way to run a business.

What shocked me was that no one else seemed to mind. Free WiFi at a coffee shop that serves as a study/work library annex is not just an amenity--it's the raison d'être. Would you come to a movie theater and stay in your seat till the end if the reel died? Please fix the WiFi, owner! Till then, if you want more than a cup of coffee/overpriced food, head to Housing Works or Starbucks.

Solid coffee here.  Especially like the Red Eyes while studying.  This place is conveniently located to the NYU Washington Square campus, so it is usually packed.....near impossible to find a seat at certain times of day during exams.  I also like their iced green tea- yum!  Perfect in the summer.  If you are up for a snack or meal, their sweets are great.  I also love their soups and sandwiches.  The melts are great but take a bit of time.

Some of their servers are great, others are clearly stoned out of their mind each time I visit.  There are a few baristas that are stellar.

Here's the thing:  Atmosphere's great, lots of young people, and great coffee. Ok, that's done...let's talk about the internet.

I was in the city yesterday and yelped "free wifi."  Think came up in the search results and had great reviews.  I was there from 11am-7pm yesterday.  I received internet service for two brief 10 min periods during that entire 8 hour period.  Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.  If you're a business and you're promoting the fact that you have free wifi and plenty of place for people to sit, then buck up and buy a damn server than can handle that kind of bandwidth.

Get it together guys.  Give what you promise, don't tease.

It has to be said that the free wifi at this place is a sham. I can't think of one time in the last ten times I've been here that the wifi has worked long enough to send an email.

Now I can understand that it's bad for a coffee shop's bottomline to have wifi so reliable that people come in, order a $2 coffee and play World of Warcraft all day. But some of us actually buy their overpriced food items and a drink every hour or so, hoping to get some minimal work done that requires the Internet. There's got to be a medium ground between being vulnerable to Internet leeches and having what must be a used $10 router from Circuit City.

This place is situated near the heart of NYU so I make it a priority to come here in between classes and during the weekend. Yes, the prices are a bit much for a college student on a budget but the food is definitely worth it. Just had a toasted mozzarella and tomato sandwich which was amazing! The decor is somewhat vintage without being too stylish and there is not a pretentious note at all to the atmosphere. Just people having a good time while enjoying good food.

Only downside is that it can be pretty busy at peak hours and impossible to find a table at other times. But overall a great coffee shop I recommend to anyone sick of the Starbucks routine.

Also way nice employees!

I like how like socially aware like the people at like Think are but, what I dont like is their burnt tasting bitter European Coffees. The machciattos, the lates, the espressos, all taste burnt and bitter.. None of that deep richness that a good coffee should have..

So I find it wonderful that they take the time to explain how good they are for the environment but, if they just closed down and let better coffee shops sell coffee, they would have a lot smaller of a foot print.

I really love the feel of this place - organic AND organic coffee. The exposed brick and accents make it look authentic and non-corporate. Then again, it's screaming at you to remember that it's better for you and better for the world than a place like Starbucks.

Their coffee is good though a little more acidic than to my liking. Also, since everything is organic, the prices are definitely higher: a 12 oz. latte at Oren's is $3.30, whereas an 8 oz. latte at Think is $3.57.

Cool atmosphere - though I can see that the space is highly coveted!

I'm now less of a fan. I've been stopping here for coffee at all hours of the day for the past two weeks and I can understand it taking awhile during the busy times but it took them a full 10 minutes to make my latte last night at 9:30PM. And I was the only one waiting for a beverage! There were plenty of people working behind the counter too, not really sure what they were working on, but they were there. It's still good coffee, but doesn't justify the ridiculous wait.

At the risk of sounding heartless...this is a really, really good place to break up with someone. I oughta know. There are plenty of people around to keep your newly minted ex from throwing a fit, and it's simply too noisy to get stuck in a weepy conversation about where it all went wrong.

This is where I'm really going to sound cruel, but...the whole time I was there I couldn't stop looking over my shoulder at the Grilled Cheese Sandwich section of the chalkboard menu. I didn't think to custom order one (Swiss Cheese and Pesto aww yeah) until months later. If I had known how tasty it is, I probably would have gotten up in the middle of that breakup, said "hold on to that thought about how you DON'T have a drinking problem for juuuust one sec 'kay?" and sunk my teeth into one without the guilt.

Life's too short. Eat melted cheese and DTMFA (http://www.urbandictio...).

There are three bulletin boards in Think Coffee: one labeled "Fair Trade Etc.", another labeled "Postings for Academia", and the last labeled "Postings for the Arts." Evidently, all postable human knowledge falls into one of these categories. If you want Dan Smith to teach you guitar, I'd check the third one. Also, in the bathroom, a sticker will encourage you to join a labor union.

The Wi-Fi is free, as (sometimes) are some cool books on the bookshelf where people leave books to be taken. At least I think that's the idea of this bookshelf; truthfully, I don't know, but no one arrested me when I took a book once. If you have something good that you're done with, try leaving it there, and then tell me about it, so I can go get it. I prefer comics and David Foster Wallace epics, thanks in advance.

The Wi-Fi can be pretty slow, so I wouldn't try your wild piracy antics here, but it's pretty good for posting Yelp reviews and wiseguy Twitter comments. (Follow me! @isamuel.) Plus, like, slow down, man. Life is long, you can wait an extra three seconds for perezhilton to load.

The coffee and food is fine. It isn't great. Actually, some of the coffee is downright mediocre and it sure is as expensive as anything else you'll find in the city. But for a huge space where you can sit, read, play games, and hang out for as long as you want, it can't be beat. Given that I've been here for two hours and had a mocha and that's it so far, that's some cheap entertainment.

I keep coming back because this place understands that the idea of a coffee shop is to be a place that you hang out and where coffee is, incidentally, sold.

Think Coffee is one of those places that makes me feel like I'm in a TV/movie version of New York (Friends, specifically) rather than the real thing. It's not that there's anything wrong with it - it's just that the exposed brick and frumpy sofas and college kids with laptops and skinny ladies in black are just so damn New Yorky that I keep looking over my shoulder for video cameras.

Anyway, the notable pastry here is the ginger pear cake, which only appears on occasion but is very delicious. The premade sandwiches and salads are also quite good. I agree that the grilled cheese is overrated and overpriced, but the coffee is excellent, especially the cold-brewed iced coffee. Maybe someday I'll get over my feeling of self-consciousness enough to sit down and actually read or do work here, but for now I just get everything to go.

What I like:
1. The music - except for when they play this strange weird French song that consist the singers saying "je t'aime" every 5 seconds while  moaning. Odd song.
2. The free wifi - I have a sick dependency on the internet.
3. The iced spanish latte - Delicious, albiet pricey
4. The layout - great place to hang with friends & study/work for extended periods
5. The baristas - Seem like nice folk
6. Overhearing conversations from hipster kids - They say silly and amusing things

What I don't like:
1. The music - Can be incredibly loud
2. The on/off wifi - Perhaps it's my cheap external wireless, but the connection here has been inconsistent.
3. The lighting - They sometimes dim the lights to nearly pitch black during the evening - to set the mood I guess?
4. The price - Not that cheap but it's fair trade, some of it goes to charity, and it's NYC, so eh, I accept.
5. The seating - Can be hard to find a good table if you want to use your laptop and need an outlet. Also, in general, this place is very busy and filled, so seating can be scarce.

Thank you Think Coffee for being my new home away from home - until I find a job.

Ok, I ventured to Think for the first time today... With the intent to take advantage of this supposedly awesome atmosphere, wifi, outlets, along with GREAT coffee.

What actually happened today? Well, I had a really fucking good iced coffee. Thank you for that, Think. But, wifi was down/slower than molasses and it was pretty busy. Only place to sit was the bar in the back (no outlets in sight).

I have to say that the atmosphere is great - it's spacious, and I think if you're able to get a table, it's a great place to get some work done. If I was still in college, I would totally meet at Think for group work, etc. It's comfortable enough, but not quite as old-skanky as some place like Tea Lounge. And the iced coffee WAS really good. But the cafe itself is not exactly in my normal neighborhoods, so it was a bust when the wifi draw was a failure.

(Yelp, get half stars, please. 3.5 stars for me)

I am a fan of coffeeshops, and don't mind independent ones at that... However, Think coffee has annoyed me the few times I've been there. Its ridiculously loud, both the music (which is not coffeeshop music, its whatever I'm guessing the employee of the day picks, when I was there, it was rap... which I am all in favor of, but if I want to study listening to DMX, I'd much rather do so through my earbuds) and the staff are obnoxiously loud. The coffee was good, and the grilled cheese was as well if not overpriced for whatever fancy schmancy cheese and bread they use. I went once in between breakfast and lunch and they REFUSED to serve me a bagel, saying it was no longer breakfast, even though there were several bagels sitting in the showcase right behind the server. Needless to say, I'll go back here if I must... And I stress must. Too many hipsters and whiny NYU girls for me anyway.

Perfect place to stop along during a coffee shop wi-fi hop.

Walking into Think Coffee, I was amazed at how HUGE it was. There were tables + bar and stools on the left side of the entrance .. tables + chairs on the right side 2nd "floor" .. and a lot of tables + chairs + couches in the back area. There is a nice selection of beverages and food.

The coffee was ok. I got a single shot of macchiato- didn't feel a thing.

Wi-fi is pretty good. They have their own network set up. Wasn't spotty where I was sitting along the bar w/stools in the front.

There are power outlets all over the place .. mostly near walls. The whole wall with the bar + stools is filled with outlets.

The music was loud .. but you get used to it. Also, it stops after a while (CD runs out? mp3 playlist is over?)

The ambiance was nice. I guess because its mostly just NYU students. The heating did feel a bit out of control though - way too stuffy in the back/larger part of the coffee shop.

The bathroom is decorated with artistic graffiti.

I'd come back for the wi-fi, and a coffee drink (latte or something) but not pure coffee ...

Decent coffee, but the food leaves something to be desired, and it is ridiculously overpriced. Over 5 bucks for a grilled cheese. Really? The place is relatively big, but its always crowded that it is difficult to find a seat a lot of the times.

I found Think Coffee by chance the other day after walking around Washington Square, a park drenched in summer humidity and unintersecting makeshift jazz musicians portraying a hot New York day in the village in sound.

Interior is pleasantl rustic and cool from the outdoor heat.  The air inside this place circulates nicely and the amount of space accomodates many people comfortably.  A great place to study, read, or converse with friends.

It's also a shelter from the muggy, humid summer New York heat.

Had a coffee.  Black.  It was just right.  Although I may have had better, I enjoyed the experience here.
