So I made the huge horrible mistake of ordering a non-vietnamese dish from here and I'm still regretting it. It was pretty bad. I ordered a mongolian beef and in hindsight I really have no one to blame but myself. But since I don't like blaming stuff on myself and I have a spouse, I'll just totally blame it on him for allowing me to do such a thing.  Jerk.

But I'm still going to go back. They have good vietnamese food. Their pho is just ok but I don't go here for the pho anyway (read my other review on pho bac). They offer other vietnamese dishes that I can't seem to find elsewhere. And I've yet to try their whole menu and I plan on trying most dishes.

The inside is nice and clean and I like all the plants around. The people that work there are nice and friendly and efficient.

I really just like this place because its just steps away from home so I don't have to travel far to get what I want. Dude, I'm lazy...

This place has really good crispy rice noodles, I craved them so much, just gave in and went there this evening and now I don't think I will be back.  The problem is they have like 90 different dishes and if you accidentally order the wrong one they basically said oh well and walked away.  They didn't even give me the option of purchasing the noodles separately and paying for both!  Lame rude customer service.  I guess I should have asked detailed questions about all 100 of their dishes!  Sheesh.  I feel cheated I only ate like 2 bites of my beef and my spring rolls and it cost me $13.00 and they didn't even wait for me to say I would pay for both dishes so I could get what I wanted just a rude no and walked away, then she smiles at me as I am paying!  NEVER GOING BACk, I've had better Cafe Pho downtown is always nice, never rude and the food is 100 times fresher (which is the point of good  Vietnamese food if you ask me).  Also, I must have went there at least 6 times last summer and winter  when they were supposed to be open and they were closed, so now I call just to make sure they are open.

I've had their pho, sandwiches and salads.  Thien Phat is nice and clean but maybe not the most memorable food.  The huge flat screen TV was a definite plus.

Great service and cleanliness are a plus on my books.  It doesn't hurt if you live nearby either!

It's too bad that the pho isn't very good at this restaurant because the place was nice. The pho was bland and lacked any real flavor. I was disappointed with their pho.

My friend suggested that I tried this place so I gave it a try recently. It's in a convenient location in South Seattle - just across the street from the old Chubby and Tubby on Rainier Ave.

This is a newer restaurant and it's very spacious and clean inside. There's also a big screen tv if you want to eat pho while watching whatever's on. It was good to see the owners and his family eating at the table close to the register when I was there. I may have to go back and give it another try, maybe I'll order something other than pho.

After trying to find some close spot to grab something to eat and everything was closed on a Sunday evening,I ended up here.
the place was empty only one table with people, the service was nice and fast we got our food very quick, the have Vietnamese & Chinese food :) so you can get the best of both that's a plus...the place is big enough and clean well arranged I would say with a big screen for everyone in the place to see anywhere you're seated.

so I got home opened up my bag of goodies,(phad thai, fried spring rolls, and sorry but i forgot the name of the other dish), and started munching,it was tasty hot and fresh !!!  i ate twice in the same evening :)  and again this morning as i write this review so I guess I'll be coming back for more since is like 5 minutes from home.

This is our go-to Pho place if you're near the 98118.  The broth has been somewhat bland before, but has been super tasty as well.  Great prices and a good bet for pho!

It's not very often when all BUT 2 bubble tea flavors are fresh! The only 2 flavors in powder were taro and honeydew (avocado wasn't ripe, yet). I came here following the Bridge to Beach Cleanup Event. Thanks to Phoenix "M", I had a great time and met wonderful ladies! I think we all left satisfied with our meals and service. My fresh coconut bubble tea was yummeh!

Thanks to Darren for recommending!! I now have a new place to go to for a yummy humongous bowl of vermicelli rice noodles when I'm in the Rainier area!!  The flavors were not overpowering and not bland, it was perfect!!!!! Friendly and attentive service! My cup of water never reached to the bottom!! =) I am definitely a fan of this place!

I've been here again and it must have been right after they opened.  Freezing!  Brrrr.   Like you must wear your jacket while eating and to raise your internal bodily temperature, you MUST pour half a bottle of rooster into your pho.

That is all.  Move along now.

stopped in here for pick up when we were in the area. I grabbed some bbq pork fresh rolls.

The flavor of the rolls and the sauce was sumptuous! *drrooool* My problem with it was that the rolls weren't rolled tightly enough and i kept loosing roll innards into my sauce cup. It was all so tasty that I was willing to go fish them out with my fingers (and then lick sauce off my fingers like some uncouth boor).

Despite the mess, I would probably come back here again to pick some of these up... maybe I'd try one of their Banh Mi too!

We basically have just gone here for the Banh Mi so far...many times...it's awesome! Excellent fresh baguette, perfectly seasoned and cooked pork and fresh veg.

For $3 you can't beat this lunch anywhere!

Now we just need to go in, sit down and have a full dinner off the menu!

I always have their steak & meatball pho & shrimp&pork spring rolls to go.  This is not only the best Vietnamese Food in the area, but it has to be the cleanest and most classy.  There is nothing worse than going into a restaraunt & wanting to leave right away because you think a rat or roach might crawl over your feet.  This is the total opposite of that.

They are friendly, courteous & they know me by first name!

We came here a bunch shortly after moving to Seward Park, craving good cheap Vietnamese food. This place hit the spot and it was the most inviting of the myriad of Vietnamese spots along Rainier around this restaurant.

The outside feel doesn't match the nicer interior. We've had the pho (average), bun (above average), and some of the rice dishes (above average). The menu is pretty far ranging, so there is a lot left for us to try there and we'll definitely be back. Service is fast and courteous. They're also pretty good at packing things to go and the prices are great.

    We like this place because:

    1) It's pretty close to our house.
    2) It's pretty cheap.
    3) The food is tasty

There are closer, cheaper, and tastier pho places, but they fall down in at least one or more of the other two categories.  The pho itself is good, though I've probably had better broth at a few other places.  However, there's been nothing to complain about regarding food quality. Plus, the place is pretty clean and owners are friendly and attentive.  Can't go wrong here.

Sub par Vietnamese food. My pho was actually quite terrible, i had only a few bites before I just gave up on it. We had some fresh rolls, and some other little appetizer items but nothing wow'd me or stood out as being something I could not get anywhere else in chinatown. And fyi the back of the menu has some interesting and exotic meat items (only in vietnamese though) if you want a different experience...I won't ever be returning, besides it stands next to a teriyaki joint which is infested with rats.

Oh and less than 24 hours later, 2 of us who went ended up with food poisoning. Enjoy.

the best dish at this place is the ap chao...crispy-fried wide rice noodles with your choice of seafood, meat, or combo stir fried with vegetables and poured on top.  i've tried this dish at other restaurants, but this is the only place that can make it crispy and delicious.   If you get it for take out, they'll actually put the fried noodles and the stir fried portion in separate boxes, so it doesn't get soggy.  I've had other dishes here also - rice plates, hot pots, noodle soups - but the ap chao is still my favorite dish.

other pluses - it's never too crowded, items are decently priced, service is friendly....definitely worth checking out.

Always fresh, huge selection of entrees, and never lets me down!

I started trying this seven course beef that is very popular in the Vietnamese restaurant industry and it came with all the goodies that I would eat: bean sprouts, pickled carrots and turnip, lettuce, cilantro, and the rice noodle! Their portions were not as generous as some of the other restaurant I had the "Bo 7 Mon", but sufficient. Aside from all the goodies came a wider rice paper wrapper which was nice since most places give you small little wrappers!

I needed 45 bahn mi and I needed them fast. Who did i call? Thien Phat, (thanks to a friend who took pity on me when I told her my dilemma and suggested this place.) 15 pork, 15 tofu and 15 chicken sandwiches were ready in no time. I'm not fool enough to believe that they didn't despise me for ordering so damn many sandwiches, but they maintained a relatively cheerful attitude.

The bahn mi are $2.75 so my total was about $137 when all was said and done... and not to mention, they were delicious, although I did come across one bad bite in the pork. Also, you should always remind your guests of the jalapenos... but come on. I fed 40 people for less than $150 bucks? Not bad.

Next time I find myself cruising down Rainier, I'll definitely stop back in. The pho look amaaaaazing and I wished I was eating it.

    A tear in my Tsingtao

This is a great new restaurant addition to the Mt. Baker neighborhood.  Not only do they have delicious food they have great hours; they stay open till 11pm most nights of the week, but are closed on Tuesdays.

I have eaten here a few times and I usually get the same things: Pho or beef short-ribs over rice.  Those ribs kick ass and leave me so ironfilled and happy.  They have smoothies that are refreshing and yummy for dessert.  The food here is Vietnamese meets Chinese.  A lot of offerings, just ask what they are and the helpful servers will give you a description. I only wish I could read Vietnamese so I knew what all of the food listed in Vietnamese is on the back of the menu. I'm guessing more traditional options like boiled eel in fish sauce or something the mainstream American might not like.

When dining in, the Huge TV is on closed captioning and the music playing is either Elvis, Ann Murray, or an instrumental version of either artists.  I usually get a little teary eyed here when I hear Ann Murray but no one ever notices, they probably think I used too much Schriracha sauce.

I've been to this family-run restaurant three times to date.  It's a pretty short walk from my house, which makes it the best Vietnamese restaurant for dinner, as far as I'm concerned.  Other pluses are that they stay open until 10 (I think) AND they take plastic (which I still find to be what keeps me from going to Viengthong more often than I would otherwise).  I haven't had pho or any of the other soups here yet but have been consistently happy with a variety of other dishes.  Service is pleasant.

One of my standby Vietnamese restaurants these days is Thien Phat (pronounced "Tee-an Fat"), situated on Rainier Ave halfway between Columbia City and Little Saigon.
Tamarind Tree is surely sexier. Green Leaf has won more awards. But for my money, Thien Phat's the destination when you want reliably made Vietnamese food with more honest flavors served in a comfortable room that--ahem--you needn't queue up for half an hour like it's a big deal just to enter!

This place is great.  Their pho is delicious and their family meals are a great deal.  When they first start bringing the food out you think you're going to be overwhelmed with the amount of food but each dish has just the perfect amount.  We are always satiated but not stuffed when we're done.  My favorite part is the hot sour soup.  I can't recommend this place highly enough.  It's easy to ignore/discount it because it's in a strip mall but don't make that mistake.
