I love the selection of super cute shoes, purses, and jewelry. I love that the clothes are arranged by color. I love that they have atypical greeting cards and other fun gifts. I love that it's walking distance from where I live.
Also, the service is great. Seems like there's someone there to start you a dressing room just before your arms get full. And on my last visit, while my huge pile of stuff was being rung up, I was eyeing a $20 pair of earrings at the register when the lovely associate told me she'd throw them in for free! Sweet.
everytime i'm on this mountain view strip, therapy is always a stop on the list. i always look forward to coming in and checking out what's new and amusing. what's odd though is that i could never recall the name of this place, but rather remember it as the little boutique with quirky gifts and free people. it wasn't until after finding it on yelp and viewing the pictures that i actually recognized the shop!
i've never received outstanding service here like everyone else has mentioned. honestly, i never even remember being greeted. maybe i was too caught up in all there was to look at though. i've inquired about sizes once or twice but would always receive a 'whatever we have is out' answer. i understand the system of inventory levels and all, but just for show if they could please pretend to check or something i'd be a little reassured.
tons of nick nacks and such! i just want to buy everything, but then again i've have absolutely no where to hold it all. they have a decent amount of free people, but nothing i couldn't find at the department store. i always find a pair of shoes i like, but of course all my sizes are taken up unfortunately.
they have occasional good deal, but other than that the prices are pretty average in comparison to other retailers. hopefully one day i'll be one of the first customers when they break a sale, then i can finally pick up some goodies here and brag that i had a satisfactory experience at therapy!
This Therapy store is much better than the SF and San Luis Obispo locations. The employees, the selection, everything is better. I really love their clothing and shoe selection, and always find some great cards here. They also have discount sales every so often on everything in the store. I believe last time it was either 20 or 25% off anything for 3 days. I just went (9/6/09) and the whole store was tax free - amazing. What's not to love about that?
I enjoy this store so much, that when I start to head toward it my husband immediately goes, "No ... no ... where are you going ..." and tries to get in between me and the store.
It's really hilarious.
He says,"Once you go in, you're never coming out!"
to which I reply, "Don't be ridiculous, I'll be out in an hour" (wink)
Self-control is needed with a store like this, since eye candy is all around. If your hands get full, just know that you can ask the ladies at the cash register to hold your items for you. *Smile*
I'm never coming out of here ...

There's a lot to be found at Therapy Mountain View. This is a great after dinner detour, as is… Read more »
I came here after looking up some boutiques on yelp. I must say that I am fairly satisfied. It was what everyone said it would be. It was easy to find dresses for all occasions. I loved how it was color coordinated as well as the variety of styles Therapy carried with reasonable prices! But I was a bit disappointed because they ran out of my size on the items I wanted, I guess I shouldn't have gone on a weekend so shame on me. The sales associates were helpful in giving their opinions and offering to look for more sizes in the back. I was taken aback when the associate actually offered to call another store to see if they had the item I wanted. Other stores you shop at, if you ask the associate to call another store they have this annoyed look on their face, but Therapy offered!
My favorite store, I love this place!! The clothes are unique and really cute. Also the prices are excellent! The staff is always really nice, friendly, and helpful, they always give honest opinions on clothes and wardrobe choice. Plus they're always willing to call another Therapy store to bring over an item if they don't have it or ran out of it at the MV store
Very good experience at this store, there is never bad service and shopping there is always fun!
Great store!
They carry lots of fun gifty items, a nice selection of purses/shoes, and, of course, clothes!
I always find what I'm looking for when I come here - it's my go-to place when I'm in need of a new outfit. The employees are very helpful, too.
Love it!
Heather is awesome. I love her! She is so helpful and I scored two things here last weekend. My favorite store!

I love this place. I almost bought the entire store last week on my day off. Seriously. I spent… Read more »
Handbag lovers, stop here!
After spotting several possibilties at nordstrom and bloomies, I ended buying 4 bags here instead. Unique and up to date styles that's not made by the mass market brands so you feel like you'll be caryying a "one of a kind." I'm thinking of getting bags for my friends as gifts bec. I know they won't already have seen it. A nice surprise. De De (recycled leather that's been dyed), Steven by Steve Madden (not easy to find), tano (will not sell on the web because they want you to come in and touch their leather) and Hobo Interantional are a few that they carry. Prices range from $60-$250,
Also, unlike the mass market stores, this store has customer service that tells you NOT to buy things, if you know what I mean. When I ask the reps at Nordy's which bag looks best on me, they always tell me all of them. At this place, every rep told me some of the bags just didn't work on my frame. AND they didn't all agree with one another. Now that's refreshing and appreciated! Instead of walking out with bags that I was hohum about, I left with items that got serious feedback and consideration .
I haven't tried their clothes because the bags kept me busy shopping so will update after I try clothing at my next stop.
I was looking for a dress to wear to a party and had almost decided to wear something I already had. I happened to be downtown Mtn. View and had seen Therapy before but never went in. I went in and found a georgeous sequin dress. Very great price also. Service was terrific!
This store is really adorable and I love how its coordinated by color. They usually have hip stuff that I can't find anywhere else besides online. It's convenient and offers a good selection. Perfect
yes..i go to therapy every week.
i LOVE this boutique! It's so funk and trendy - prices are extremely reasonable, and they have new stuff weekly. The store is color coordinated, so if you need something yellow, go to the yellow section. It's so efficient. this store makes me happy!
This is the place where I found Tulle Clothing line and fell in lOve...*sighhh*
I love everything in the store: clothing, shoes, quirky things (sassy magnets galore), stationary, funky hats, dainty hats - vintage inspired clothing. Lovely place to visit, and cute finds to ...find ;)
This place is wonderful. I live down the street and stop by every couple of weeks to check out their new items. They have some really great furniture. I purchased my formica dining room table from this store, and it wouldn't fit in my car. A wonderful girl named Elisa helped me carry my table 6 blocks down Castro St. to my house. So sweet! The staff are always friendly and eager to help me find what I need. While I wouldn't always wear everything in the shop, this place is by far my favorite clothing and jewelry store of all time.
How did I not know this was here?! It might be my favorite boutique in the south bay that I've found so far. Best part is that price here are very reasonable! You'll also find them in SF, Burlingame, and Campbell.
I just might need a weekly session of Therapy.
This store opened just a short while before I moved out of Mountain View. But in that short span of time, I became a fan. Downtown MV, which needs another restaurant like I need another purse, desperately needed a cool retail shop--and that's what it got when Therapy moved in.
Therapy is a place with a contemporary vibe and a little of everything: cards, furniture, home accent pieces, gag gifts, soaps, candles, men's and women's clothing, accessories, and shoes. It's an eclectic mix, but it works.
Yesterday I was in the area for lunch with friends, and I needed some Therapy afterwards. There were really cute summery options in women's clothing, all at reasonable prices. Think Anthropologie at less than half the price. I tried on several dresses, and narrowed it down to one for less than $60. It's a black silk-blend keyhole neckline dress, classy yet summery. And the salesgirls were very helpful in finding the right size and even helping me to button up the back.
Unfortunately I was a little short on time, so I wasn't able to try on everything I wanted to. But I heard they opened a shop in my new neighborhood. I guess I know where I'm going this afternoon!
And did I mention they had really cute purses? ;)
Therapy deserves 4 stars based off if its merchandise but gets 5 because of the location and its awesome workers! (Shout out to Marisol who endured 4 hours of 'does this look good?')
I love Therapy. Everybody loves Therapy. And in today's messed up conditions we all NEED Therapy.
I love that it is located right in the center of downtown Mountain View on Castro. That means I can stuff my face full of yummy food and NOT fit into anything or I can shop up an appetite and hop a few blocks over for some yummy food.
I used to work on Castro so I have a special place in my heart for stores that aren't restaurants. It's nice to see a retail store that caters more to the younger crowds. There's another clothing store across the street but it's stuff is a bit more mom like if you catch my drift. Definitely nice, but not my cup of tea.
I remember the glory days of Therapy when they used to have a $9.99 rack. I got the sweetest Paul Frank romper. The brands they carry vary and prices can be rather steep. But if you search around long enough you're bound to find something in your price range that works. What I love the most about Therapy is that their stuff isn't the generic off the shelf Forever 21 regurgitated crap that everyone and their grandma wears. I've found some of my favorite coats and jackets here and also really really nice dresses that have just the right amount of uniqueness to them.
The only downsides are that things can get pricey and that there are no restrooms unless you are obviously super preggos. But fortunately there is Red Rock across the street and you can use their facilities.
No cash returns. Only exchange or store credit that never expires.
Oh Therapy, you are so much better than Dr. Phil.
My coworker just loves this place. She got two items here. But she makes more money than I do. And trust me that is a factor here. The average price of this place is $40 per item. There are a lot of cute clothes, just need the money to get them. Even their sale rack is about $30 per item. But if you are going to drop this kind of money anyway at a store, come here to support your local shops.
The front of the store has some super cute trinkets. You can find a unique present for a friend there. The front reminds me of things they sell at Urban Outfitters.
Finally found another boutique to shop, that's close to restaurants galore. Perfect place to burn off that gelato or pearl tea after dinner or lunch.
Came waddling in after a good meal, and found lots of goodies. Everyone is helpful and not pushy, which I love. Tons of selections, mostly sectioned off by color or sleeve length (very handy when you're looking for something specific). Lots of selection = not too many sizes. I'm always trying stuff on since I wear almost any size. Lots of guy stuff too so the man won't be bored if he tags along.
I always seem to have the best luck when I'm not looking to shop. But when I come here on a mission to spend some dough, I never find anything. Word to the wise - come here on a random day and you find tons of cute stuff!
Doctor's order: YOU NEED MORE THERAPY!!
Absolutely love this shop! The home decor; trinkets, clocks, wall art and dishware are so funky and hip. I've found some really great items here. You just never know what you'll stumble upon and that's what I love. Every time I visit it's a new and fun experience. Love the clothes too. Although, most of the tops and dresses that I love are a bit out of my price range. I still love browsing and checking out all the different styles. Appreciate how they have the clothes color coordinated. Oh and don't even get me started on the jewelry! The staff are always happy to assist or make helpful suggestions.
Therapy is unique and fun and that's why it's my favorite boutique along the Peninsula.
If I wanted to spend the amount of money required to buy an item in this store, I would.
The reason why they squeak by with four stars is because they have a lot of cute clothing that department stores otherwise wouldn't sell, and it seems like the other boutiques on Castro St. are either a bit too new age hippie-ish or just...dull. The clothes Therapy chooses to sell aren't afraid to play with the latest color palette trends in the fashion industry, which is nice.
Critical info:
*Sells mostly women's clothes, but some men's clothes
*Nice purse selection
*Fun trinkets to browse through with friends, but more than most would be willing to spend on said items
*Mediocre customer service
*Trendy sunglasses (not my style, but hey, maybe it's your thing) and unique jewelery
Definitely worth a visit, but be prepared to dole out a moderate sum of cash if you fall in love with any item in this store.
My love for Therapy has been reaffirmed because they are one of the few retailers that carry RuMe bags and Envirosax, my two favorite lines of reusable shopping bags.
Both are very roomy, very sturdy, and machine washable, and come in stylish prints and colors, and fold down to almost nothing, so you can always keep one in your purse or pocket. Perfect for those of us who walk / train / bike.
I come here every now and then, and when I do, I stay for at least an hour. Because everything is so cute in here, it takes me a while to browse. From my experiences, most of the clothing is really affordable. There are definitely some pieces that are priced higher, though. I love the styles here and when I come in, the selection is totally different.
Also, loooove their candles here. Ive bought many for friends as presents and have a few at home too.
Cute! Trendy! Cute!
Awwww, allow me this one time to become totally frou frou (much to the chagrin of my male friends who were with me here) but all of a sudden, I was filled with a sudden urge to touch certain materials, pick up cute little knick knacks from the display tables and even see a pink mini Domo-kun. Pink!
The interior reminded me of an Anthropologie store but with slightly cheaper prices and garb could be rated as hand-me-down. I did, however, find a small black patent clutch purse, which my friend deemed classy, for $30.
The staff person at the counter was really sweet as she was remarking on my DL picture. She mentioned I had a great smile, so there was one positive thing about that.
I may be back to check out other wares when time permits. Now it was time to go get some dinner!
Rad gifty junk. Great jewerly and accessories. Too fat to fit into any of their clothes but the leggings are great . I always pick up a perfect and unique gift for my artsy friends... they always love them or appear to at least. Prices are kinda all over the place from overpriced to cheap and reasonable.. it's kind of subjective in that way. Love the place and the staff is helpful too :)
Hidden gem in Mountain View!
I came here because a friend told me about it and took me here after eating breakfast down the street. It's kind of random! As if a boutique and an toy shop had a kid, that's what Therapy would be. Saw a lot of things that caught my eye, like all the Obey stuff, from jewelry to apparel. The ugly dolls were cool too. They also carry Betsey Johnson which I thought was crazy because a lot of places that do carry only Betseyville and not the up scale purses like Therapy did. A great place to go to buy gifts for people.
There was only one girl working the afternoon we went but she was really friendly and attentive to all our needs of seeing jewelry from the case. It's very spacious inside so you don't get all cramped up although the layout could have been more organized but still, I like the randomness and boutique esque feel.
Overall, it was a cool experience walking around and checking things out. I felt like I could spend 3 hours easily just browsing haha.
I have yet to make into the one in SF...
But I made it to this one.
I tried on three lovely dresses, pranced around in hats, and touched everything. And I bought nothing. Great cards and knick-knacks too.
Prices = a bit high-end for my tastes. Although they do have a nice sale rack.
Quality and quantity = it's there.
Location, it's fairly large but with lots of unused space...hmmmmmm.
Service = friendly staff.
If I had to buy all my clothes from one store for the rest of my life this might be it.
There's really no reason to take any stars away from this place. It's spacious, I've never seen it overcrowded. It carries brands like Obey, Original Penguin, and Upperplayground, but they don't try too hard like other stores that carry similar brands. I think that's the appeal to me. They don't try too hard (unlike the try-too-hard-to-be-hipsters at Urban Outfitters). The furniture and home decorating selection is pretty sick, and they carry a lot of Upperplayground's artists' works here.
The employees enjoy working here. I mean, not like they told me personally, but you can tell. They're friendly and helpful, but not overbearing. They smile. And that makes me smile.
I'm talking from a dudes perspective, but my girlfriend likes it here as well. So I think the girls section has some pretty good shit, too. Check it out, yo!
Pros:
-Cute and unique clothing
-Helpful staff, they don't bother you while you're shopping
-When there's a sale, it's an awesome sale
Cons:
-Prices generally out of my budget, but that's why I check out the sales
-Sale rack needs to be bigger!
Bottom Line: A lot of my "special" pieces in my closet are from here. It's worth the splurge if you find that super-cool unique piece.
As much as I want to promote urban stores like this in places like Mountain View, I have to say that this store is a bit disappointing to me. Now, I'm not rough with my clothing, but a number of the clothes I've bought here have deteriorated in some way. Examples: a sweater that pilled after being worn once, three buttons falling off the same coat, loose threads and labels... Prices aren't expensive, but they're not cheap. Quality is amiss.
On the upside, there are many charming accessories and decor aside from clothing here, and the girls that work here are very attentive and helpful.
I come here every time i come to Mountain View. Cute little store with clothes that you can't really get anywhere else, reasonable prices. I got a dress today for $60 and that's one of the more expensive item.
Little cute items that you cant help but buy... like today... I bought a tin of bacon mints and bacon jelly beans. Yeah.... they taste like bacon.
actually thank god the store is in mountain view, cause I would be here all the time.
I'm such a fan of this store. I mostly love the girls that work there who are so helpful and nice and not all pretentious. They chat with you and are so helpful. I called to inquire about some boots and they had me on the phone while they looked right then and there and were so nice about it.
To the reviewer who didn't find accessories from local artists, actually a lot of the jewelry is from local artists - one of the girls talked about all the selections to me a few months ago.
I think the selection of clothes are great as are their funky and fun products. A great addition to downtown Mountain View. It's just a fun shop to browse even if there's nothing in your wallet!
40% OFF EVERYTHING!!?!?!? (It was only until today) :(
I'm super happy that I stopped by here today! I've never ever seen Therapy have a sale... let alone on the ENTIRE store? omg. It was truly heaven! I just wished I came earlier when the sale started because the whole store seemed empty today! I got two cute, medium-size Ugly Dolls for just under $13!! I wanted to buy more stuff, but I seriously have no use for them, especially the giant stuffed steak! haha I was going to get a cute Paul Frank watch, but I just had to resist the urge!
For months, I saw the giant monster in the front window display for sale. I guess someone finally bought it for 40%off!?!? ahaha I guess we'll have to wait next year for another GREAT sale!! :D And plus, I saw an old college friend working here today!! Small world!! :)

They have really cute stuff here, it's like Urban but a bit more casual. I liked their accessories - esp their hats and cute bags. I've purchased a couple of hats and gifts from this store. You can peruse this store for awhile and it's great therapy for anyone who cares about their style. I try not to come in too often, since it's pricey!
Apparently I'm getting all sorts of therapy these days. I think retail's my obvious favorite because it doesn't talk back, you are the one in control (sort of), and you get short term satisfaction (great for commitment phobes). This location has a secondhand/vintage/boutique vibe, which means affordable yet still cute findings for the home or yourself. Also, they carry Tom's shoes, albeit a small selection.
Life sure has changed for me after having a baby. I used to consider myself a pretty serious "fashionista" back in the day. Well, at least according to my own definition, anyways...
Like a typical girl, I always loved clothes. Okay, more specifically clothes, shoes, handbags and jewelry (none of which are in any specific order) . I blamed my so-called "addiction" to all things fashion on my mom, who often referred to me as her "personal-living-doll". Dressing up was a welcomed ritual of mine. Shopping for the perfect outfit was always an exciting adventure...one that was euphorically fulfilling for me. My passion for it was certainly apparent everyday, and I certainly had the closet to prove it.
Somewhere between the time I got pregnant until now (about a year and a half's time), my once so-called "passion for fashion" got lost in the mix. I guess feeling bloated and gross for 10 months killed it.. Or maybe it could possibly be from the little "bundle-of-joy" who's been stuck to my milk-filled mammories 24/7. Since when did a t-shirt and the same pair of jeans that I haven't washed in weeks become my idea of good fashion? Have I become "that" woman whom I often referred to as "sad" and "lazy" back in my early 20's? Well whatever the reason, I eat my words and embrace the change. Call it a change in priorities I guess. My newest passion is my baby, along with finding solace and joy in my frequent diaper/formula runs to Target every week...: )
This past weekend, the hubs, baby Dylan, and I found ourselves embarking on a typical All-American-Family ritual (all I can say is , "now I know!")...a "rIght-of-parental-passage" if you will: A visit to IKEA ( Hmm...Do I see Costco and Olive Garden in my near future? ). After an hour of browsing, we took the long way back home (a cruise down the El Camino) and decided to stop by Castro Street in Mtn. View. Low and behold there was something exciting going on...a Farts and Crap Fair, I mean, an Arts and Craft Fair. It was a huge event! Booths went on for miles and miles with lots of hand made goods and goodies. Little baby Dylan loved it. Especially the wooden flying pig mobiles. Damn it, I should have bought one! After walking all the way down towards the end of the fair, we made a U-y and stopped by THERAPY. Since it was a really hot day and the store was wonderfully air-conditioned, it was a much needed stop.
Within the first 10 seconds of browsing around, I started to feel a strangely familiar sensation...kinda tingly, kinda nauseating, but in a good way....
I couldn't believe it...I got my fashion-libido back! In my right hand I grabbed a cute little summer tank, while in my left I had an adorable silk dress. My eyes were also fixated on there adorned shelves of beautiful handbags. For a minute there I forgot that my dear hubby and son were with me...a serious black out.
Hubs: "Hon, are you going to try things on?"
Me: " Uh...no.....just looking!" (Yeah, right?!)
Hubs: "Me and Dylan are going to rest up on that couch up front."
Me: " Uh...okay, hon. I'll be really quick. (Yeah...right?!)
About 20 minutes later, I collected thyself and proceeded to check out. I had to seriously practice self-control here. If I was alone, I could have spent a few good hours shopping around. I decided to put my invisible blinders on and just get the two things that were in my hands. Lucky for me the prices weren't half bad either. An evening dress and a sleeveless blouse all for around sixty seven bucks.
Score! The one thing that beats my love for fashion, is "frugal fashion"!
Therapy is a great store with a great name. It saved me from a fashion-celibate life. Now I can happily say I got my groove back...
Thank you Therapy! I will be back for more fashionable shopping sessions...: )
Many thanks to my coworkers for introducing me to this little gem. There isn't much to say aside from the fact that I would probably purchase 95% of their products if I could. Great selections, great style!
Therapy is my favorite store for small unique gifts and funky, funny, original greeting cards. I can get lost in here for a while while I browse their range of merchandise. I've encountered the staff usually only when purchasing my new found treasures and they are always really nice and friendly. I give Therapy five stars because it's my little oasis. Yay.
Therapy you're so cute! And all your employees are ridiculously nice. I would shop here all the time if I had the money.

I go in to browse and leave Therapy angry and empty-handed more often than I'm willing to admit. The clothes are just too cute for words, and yet they are all in ridiculous, ill-fitting juniors' sizes! It's no use asking for a bigger size in that cute blouse, ladies, because A) it doesn't exist, and B) it won't fit anyway. Still, they keep me coming back with their cute shoes, hats, (overpriced) bags, jackets, and redonkulous selection of books and silly things.
They super-tiny staff are more interested in shopping for themselves there than helping customers. They're all adorable, but don't listen to the drivel that comes out of their mouths--I've never heard a dumber set of store clerks in one place! Oh, Therapy, if only you carried real-people sizes and weren't so painfully fashionable...
Note: I like to think Therapy is a nice place to take your boyfriend or male significant other for a closet makeover. FYI.
