Oh my goodness this place is soooooo awesome.  We have been going to this place for awhile now. I love how they put the rice in a heart shape. Very nice service as well.

The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is the restaurant itself.  Its dated, it smells (no, not the food, but some other foul odors).   The service is decent, hard to understand the server sometimes... but just adds to the charm of this place.

We are vegetarians, my wife and I, and let me tell you their imitation meat stuff is the best I have ever had, and I have had a lot in my life.

The general flavors are way too good... awesome.

On food alone, this is your place..... but you can do what I do, elect to do takeout and eat home.  This place is also BYOB, so takeout makes even more sense!

I have a love-hate relationship with this place.  I love the panang beef and the tom kha khai soup (forgive spelling) is excellent.  The lunch prices are reasonable and they have excellent rice during the lunch meal.  I don't know why but the rice is always better at lunch.

It is not a kid friendly place.  it is too quiet for children.  The service is too slow, etc.

Also, this is not a place to take a date unless they are forgiving of the decor.  It once was well decorated but they have let the place go.  If your date likes good food and doesn't mind the atmosphere or slow service then this is a great place to go.

The duck is hit and miss.  I don't think it's ordered very often and it will sometimes be overcooked.  You can't beat the curries and if you ask nicely when ordering takeout they've been known to top off you takeout dish with a little extra sauce for your rice.

Average cost per adult about $11-$20 depending on food and drink.  Lunch is closer to $9-$13.

AWESOME Thai Food!  Terrific dishes, great service and a variety of things to choose from.  We have had the chicken pad thai, terryaki chicken, massman curry, chicken satay and the won ton soup and it was all good.  There are other Thai places in the area but this is the best one.

Thep Thai is awesome! My dad has a tradition of craving Thai food on Christmas day. This year we were in The Woodlands, looked on Yelp, and decided on Thep Thai. We LOVED it!

The service here is incredible! Our waiter was exceedingly nice and made great recommendations. The owner/chef came out to talk to us, too. We were the only people in the restaurant and it really felt we were at a friend's house who cooked an awesome Thai lunch.

We started with Thai teas and they were delicious! Thep's Thai teas aren't as sweet other restaurants, but they were a refreshing and delicious change!

My standard order is pad thai and theirs was awesome! Everyone at the table loved what they ordered. The flavors were perfect and such high quality.

We had fried bananas with coconut ice cream for dessert. WOW! You could tell it was made in house and much better than mass-produced fried bananas I've had at other restaurants.

We saw that they have half-price days on Sundays. I would be there every Sunday if I lived near The Woodlands. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area!

Pad Thai. Curry. Spring rolls. The Thai tea. All so very good, one of the best Thai restaurants I've eaten at. Service is usually very friendly. Very quiet, usually only moderately busy, so fast and easy. They make straw paper roses, so cute;)

I love good Thai food, plain and simple. After having moved to Spring almost 3 years ago I have been searching for a Thai place to visit in the Spring/Woodlands area. Until recently the only places I have found were farther south requiring a longer drive than I would like.

A few months ago I started doing a little more digging around in to places closer to where I lived and I came across Thep Thai.

My roommate and I decided to go and try it out shortly after that. Both of us are so glad we did. It is the best Thai food I've had since living in Texas. I have been there close to a half-dozen times or so now and every visit I come away completely satisfied.

I will admit I have a soft spot for Thai basil dishes, and that is what I normally order. Between their Pad Kra Praw and Pad Kee Mao I am in basil heaven. They also have several levels of spiciness ranging from bland to mouth-on-fire.

Went there just this Sunday with my roommate, his parents, and my girlfriend. Everyone loved their dishes. I tasted my girlfriends Pad Thai and it was delicious.

If you're looking for an excellent Thai place on the north side of town then I highly recommend this place. If you don't like it then.....I'm not sure what the deal is. =)

Great, yet again! It is so surprising to find this place empty of diners. Granted I usually show up for an early dinner, but it still needs to have more customers! The server informed us this time that they will be starting a sunday special in which all their entries will be half price. I believe she said starting November 8th?

Even full price, a tasty meal every time!

Let me start out by declaring my love for all things Thai and especially Thai curry. I was hit by a pang of craving for curry yesterday and decided to try Thep Thai for dinner. After reading these wonderful Yelp reviews, I was sorely disappointed. The food's mediocrity was matched by the equally mediocre service. It was unusually hot yesterday and for some reason (saving money?) Thep Thai was kept at an uncomfortably hot temperature.

The food was far from authentic and a huge notch below what I've had at other Thai establishments:

    - Spring Rolls with Tofu: wrap tasted like a combination of glue and paper. The vegetables inside were the cheapest kind that you'd find in gyros. Immediate DING.

    - Pad Thai: come on, you just can't get this one wrong. I order this at almost every Thai restaurant. So when my Pad Thai came soggy and overcooked I immediately knew this place would not live up to its 4 star rating.

    - Green Curry: the waitress first brought a wrong order with chicken instead of the beef I ordered. The plate consisted of a few lonesome eggplants, green beans, and peppers swimming in a massive pool of curry. Definitely not worth the $10 price tag. Tasted so so.

Overall, service was slow even though there were only four tables. They did remake our green curry with beef but delivered it quite late in the meal. Not impressed at all. Not sure what people are raving about.

Went for dinner for the first time and at the same time was de-flowering my friend to Thai food at 41 years old!

I never thought I would find Thai Iced Teas better than Nit Noi....And I have!

Prices are almost twice that at M-F lunch but the portions are *HUGE*!  Still a fan but with all the food that comes for the lunch special this may become a weekday lunch treat only.

I've been searching for a long time for any Thai food at all worth eating near Tomball.  We've got at least 10 options for Sushi but not a single Thai option!  Based on the reviews from Yelp we gave it a shot and it is now one of my favorite Thai places in town.  My wife and I shared the Pad Thai (yes boring, but I love it) and Mussaman Curry, both with chicken.  They were both top notch!  Maybe its just because we were absolutely craving both dishes, but they really nailed it.  We will absolutely be back.

As said in previous reviews the inside of the restaurant is extremely well decorated for the location.  its in a strip center right next to Kobe Japanese Steak and Sushi and about 10 other quick food places.  We arrives at about 2:30 PM and were the only customers so service was obviously extremely attentive and the food came out in under 5 minutes.

Let me begin by saying that Thai food is my favourite kind of food and it has been a long time since I've had good Thai food. I had been to some other restaurants in the area and they were godawful and I was becoming a little despaired by this fact. Friday was my birthday and my boyfriend found Thep Thai online and saw it had good reviews and so we decided to check it out. The atmosphere was very nice, simple and elegant. The food was authentic and full of flavour and the service was phenomenal!!! Even the owner came out to greet us! This is definitely becoming a regular staple restaurant in our repertoire. I am so happy to have found such an amazing and authentic Thai restaurant in this town.

This one of the finer thai restaurants I've ever been to. The food is of exceptional quality and taste. The prices are also very reasonable making it a win/win situation.

There are a few problems though. Service is very questionable. If they are busy, don't expect your order to be taken efficiently. Also don't expect drink refills. Its a family run restaurant, and they don't seem to hire outside of immediate family.

They have a special running until the end of 2009, everything is half price on Sunday. A nice order of pad thai is only 5 bucks. Like I said above, its exceptional, so well worth trying. Just expect longer waits on Sunday.

My fiancé and I love this place. The owner is so sweet and she had my fiancé and I try some desert and threw in a few more things. I could hear her say in the back and in Thai that I liked mangos. I understand it more than I speak it. Everybody is pretty friendly and I try to go there as often as I can. This place feels like home everytime I go there for lunch. I spent my birthday with a fairly large group of family and friends some who have never had Thai food before. They left fans of Thai food. I can go for some now!

Troubling time on our last visit.  Communication with the waitress was a challenge, service was very iffy, and the kitchen was off its game as well.  We're hoping it's a temporary glitch, and things will return to their normal wonderfulness on our next visit.

Located in a strip shopping mall next to Kobe this little restaurant rocks my world. It's a 30-40 minute drive for me but I don't care.

Don't expect a nicely decorated interior or superior service. Most of the time the Chef is in the back by herself and usually only the one male server is there.

My favorite is...well I have several and that's why with the big portions, Thep Thai serves enough food to take home and have leftovers for a couple of days. (Just a little side note it is not courteous or wise to fire up a microwave at work with Thai food leftovers inside. Those strange looks and questions about "ohhh what's that?" means you successfully stunk up the whole floor and your coworkers have marked you with the sign of the smelly microwaver person and that is one mark you cannot escape.)
Now on to the good stuff. Here is the menu you should follow at least according to me.
Dim sum. This is great, the dipping sauce is awesome, and the little crispy fried garlic on top really set this dish apart from the other Dim Sum I've had.
Tom Kha Kai - This is the best I've ever had.
Spicy Catfish (Thai Style)-Crispy fried catfish with a tempura type batter with a basil chili sauce that will get those taste buds kicking
Pineapple curry with chicken - Now I know most of the time this comes with duck and that Thai chicken can be a little bland. But where this dish really excels is the sauce. It was sent from heaven.
Pad Kee Mao with beef - This dish is also awesome thin slices of tender beef with rice noodles that soak up the juices and the sauce. Mmmmmm good.
WARNING: I've ordered Not Thai Hot here and gotten Holly mother of God Thai Hot because of the language barrier. If you don't say anything I find they give you the American hot which is at times spicy but not unbearable by any means. I usually ask for hot but that's because I like it hot. But at Thep Thai there is a difference between Thai hot and Hot. Also if you order something that is to hot ask for a Thai ice tea it will take the heat away quickly.
This is my favorite Thai place to date. I've eaten at a place in Vegas that is rated a 28 out of 30 by Zagat and to me this place is better.

If you blink you might miss this place. You really don't want to.  I will say some of the best Thai food I have found in Houston.  My date did not have much experience with Thai food, so I suggested a few dishes and the waiter was helpful as well.  I had some green curry and it was fantastic.  The food was great, attention to detail was good, the waiter was almost to helpful.  My only fear is people will not know about this place and it may not survive.  I think they need to spruce up the dining area to pull in the Woodlands clientele, but once you taste the food you will be back.

Eating here is equivalent to putting diesel into your unleaded gas car.  A Saturday lunch here was deserted (one other family was there when we arrived), and now we know why.  We tried the fresh spring rolls, (cream) cheese rolls, pad thai with tofu, red curry with chicken (spicy level 2 with 5 being the spiciest), thai iced coffee (fine), and fried bananas with coconut ice cream.  I should have taken it as a portent of things to come when my noodle-loving youngster took a taste of the pad thai and refused to eat anymore.  The rest of the day (and that night) were plagued with the signs of MSG overdose...incessant thirst, headaches, and unsettled stomachs.  That's not even considering the state of the restrooms (and the smell that reached our table from them).
