I love this place. It's not as uppity as some coffee houses are starting to be, which is nice. When I go to a local place, I don't want to go to yet another Starbucks. I want to go to a place like Theo's where people aren't trained to say the same things.
Theo's is also just far enough away from campus that you don't have to worry about the sorority girls coming in and out and giggling the entire time. It's a chill atmosphere and the staff are great. The highest complement I can give it is that I'd recommend Theo's to a friend (and I do). -

I went there the other day after it was pointed out to me on my website. So of course, I had to check it out and write a review! Some big positives:
1) Outdoor seating
2) Great coffee & food
3) Awesome historical pictures of the City inside
4) Free wifi from the hotel across the street
Negatives:
1) Outdoor seating comes with crazy vagabonds wandering around from the bar next door...entertaining, but slightly bothersome when they want things from you
2) Facist parking lady giving everyone tickets
So, here are my suggestions:
1) Head down there around lunch time
2) Park very carefully
3) Go inside and order a bite to eat and some coffee
4) Sit INSIDE and enjoy the atmosphere while you eat
5) Spend the last few minutes of lunch outside finishing your coffee and laughing at vagabonds
6) Return to work satisfied in mind, body and soul -

THE BEST damn coffee shop in the Quad Cities.
But, god damn, I wasted so much of my life here. Like, so much.
Like, oh god, the enormity of the amount of time I spent here is just....
oh god.
And the amount of money...figure... $2.20 or so for a tall sludge cup... and all those years of ordering dark roast w/3 refills... and the muffins, and bagels, and soups consumed... oh man.
Like, seriously, I spent so much time here.
And that was before they even had such things as wi-fi.
...my youuuuuuuuth! -

This place is STILL the best!! Sigh. Like another reviewer, I spent many many wonderful hours, nights, weekends here in my youth... well, okay, actually in my middle age. :-) Now graying, I am happily ensconced in a booth here because, for a rare visit to the dear old QCs, I scored a room at the Holiday Inn across the street!
As ridiculous as it may sound, I have never had a better coffee shop experience than Theo's. The furnishings and decor are comfortable, clean, and eclectic. Not sterile-slick like a chain java joint, and not haphazardly cluttered with mismatched bric-a-brac like many independent coffee shops. It keeps getting BETTER: free wireless!! I am told that they will be accepting credit cards soon, too, but at these prices, that's never been a concern for me.
The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The sandwiches are large, delicious and very reasonably priced. A nice selection of cookies, pastries and bagels, and of course, fabulous java drinks. There is a great mix of music playing in the background at the perfect volume to set a scene, yet not interfere with conversation.
I recommend Theo's for coffee & eats in a comfortable setting, friendly service & great prices. Seriously. -

Nothing, and I mean nothing, is as awesome as a large double vanilla latte with homemade whipped cream from Theo's to start my day!! This is the kind of coffee shop my husband and I look for in every town we travel through and can never quite find. The coffee and bagels or muffins make my day worthwhile!!
Seriously love this place!!! -

One of two competing, original QCA coffee houses. I haven't been in over 10 years and miss it terribly. They had real, honest to goodness delicious coffee and other assorted hot beverages, excellent local music acts, and awesome staff.

Outstanding coffee. My drink of choice is a Mocha.
Really comfortable atmosphere. Would be a wonderful place to hang out. I'm just visiting the area so I don't know if I'll have a chance, but hopefully.
This place would fit right in our coffee center of the Pacific Northwest. -

I was visiting Rock Island and staying across the street at the Holiday Inn. Of course, Maxwell House just doesn't cut it. Luckily for us, Theo's serves up an excellent latte. The staff was friendly and efficient. The only downside is that it is not open on Sundays. Sadness and grouchiness dominated the rest of the day...Oh, and they only accept CASH or CHECK.
