Walked into tiny T's restaurant for first time in 10 years and the waitress remembers me!  I think, cool. Then I think, 'Do I over tip?'

See back in late 90's I lived in this part of the n'end and I'd grab AM chow 2-3 time per month. T's hasnt changed much since.  Bigger counter with more stools now. Espresso  too. Otherwise, the same--good.

In short, you'll find good, basic breakfast at cheap prices in small, simple diner. Just as it should be.

I've been to Theo's dozens of times and I don't think I've ever had a bad experience.  The Big Boy breakfast is one of their specialties.  You get so much food for your money, it's crazytimes.

A few pointers:
Weekends are busy and usually require a short wait. (And they're only open til 3 on weekends too.)
Cash only.
Bring your appetite.

It's a tiny place but was recently renovated with a more modern look.  There's always Brazilian sports or soap operas on, too.  It's fun to make up dialogue for the soaps while you're waiting for your food.  Try it.

When it comes to a tasty breakfast in the North End following a night of adventure in Boston, there are not as many choices as you might expect.

Thankfully, the choices you do have are great, and Theo's ranks as amongst the best.

Friendly staff and a newly renovated interior make for a great dinning experience. Add a good selection of breakfast fare and you will be happily satiated with your home-fries and bacon levels returned to their proper levels.

Add a varied lunch menu and it's a perfect quick stop for lunch as well. The addition of some Brazilian food has added a special touch to an otherwise already perfectly palatable menu.

For the tourist minded amongst you the following should be kept in mind. REALLY busy on weekend mornings, and it is very close to the Old North Church. Enjoy!

I should start this by admitting that I have previously eaten here twice in one day.  The place gets pretty packed for weekend brunch.  They also do take-out if you want to avoid the crowd.  Happily (for me), it's relatively empty for weekday breakfasts and dinners.

For breakfast, I'd do the normal gamut, I tend to choose savory over sweet, so I usually order a breakfast sandwich, or the corned beef with egg and hollandaise sauce.  Yum.  This is the first place I've ordered corned beef and not found it too salty - likely because of the hollandaise sauce.

For dinner, I've had a couple of their "Brazilian" meals in addition to their hamburger.  I just remember thinking, good food.  I would definitely take friends here for a relatively inexpensive diner experience in the middle of the North End.

Honestly I have known Theo since... Well he has known me since I was in utero lol. My mother used to own the Cozy Corner and Theo started as a dish washer. He is the nicest guy you will ever meet and when he bought the Cozy Corner, he definitely made it work. His quesadillas are to die for :)

His home fries suck but hey everybody is allowed one right?

This is a great little place, tucked away in the heart of the North End. It's not big, so I would imagine it can get crowded, but I was there later on a weekday morning so it was not a problem to find a seat.

The menu has lots of breakfast items, including a variety of omlettes, big, fluffy looking pancakes, and french toast. I had the omlette with italian sausage and provolone, accompanied by toast and home-fried potatoes.  All very tasty.  The owners are very charming, too, and the whole place has a great atmosphere. I would definitely return if I'm in the area.

Great Food, Good Prices, Cash Only. Friendly Saff. Great view from the windows. Right down from the Old North Church :-) Had an excellent Spaghetti and Chicken Parm dish and a drink all for around $10

A true hidden find in Boston's North End.
off the main drag. Worth a jaunt over :-)

This place is pretty descent for breakfast. A step up from a diner but nothing to go crazy about. Its very small and can get crowded. The Brazilian food is good and adds a nice mix to all the Italian places in the North End.

The name is very fitting! COZY! Great feeling as soon as you walk into this small breakfast spot! The woman waitress is heaven sent, extremely helpful, kind and attentive even in the busiest of times!  Perfect place if you're looking for a "diner" type breakfast.  Funny crew of regulars as well, very amusing to listen to them gossip and talk about the North End.  Great crew in there! Great food! GO NOW!

Theo's was the first stop on our Thursday Roommate Breakfast, since two out of the three of us had already had great experiences there.

The first time I was there, I stopped in for brunch with my dad. I got the banana pancakes (huge and delicious) and iced coffee (also very good, plus you get to add the cream and sugar yourself, which I like), and my dad got the spaghetti and meatballs. He couldn't stop raving on about how good it was, especially the meatballs, which he said were melt-in-your-mouth-amazing.

For the Roommate Breakfast, I got a blueberry waffle, which was about the size of the plate, full of blueberries, and dusted with powdered sugar. It was absolutely delicious and quite filling. Coffee in a diner mug with free refills was the perfect complement. Roommate A got the french toast and bacon, and I think she was overwhelmed by the amount of food on her plate - 8 slices of french toast and several of bacon. Roommate B got a waffle with fresh strawberries and a latte, which she raved about. When she asked for a tiny bit of whipped cream on the side of her waffle, she was given the whole can.

Amazing food aside, what I really like about Theo's is the staff. They're always so nice and friendly. The owner was there the day I went with my dad, and he kept going out of his way to make sure we got everything just as we wanted it. You get a lot of food for the cheap price, and it's off the beaten path of Hanover St, which is always a plus. Definitely one of my favorite places in the North End.

It seems like the places which are closest to your home, have a tendency to be the most overlooked.

And not to puff up my chest, but I really think this is one "hole in the wall" that has not received the acclaim it deserves.

I wouldn't even say this can be chalked up to bad experiences(as you can see by the other positive reviews), but for the sheer volume of restaurants and eateries in the North End, that if your place isn't the first listing in Google or Let's Go, or at the top of Hanover Street..you may fall by the wayside.

After speaking with the waitress, it seems like in recent months the restaurant got a facelift, with new menus, a new coat of paint, and my attention was drawn to it one sleepy morning when I saw balloons, and "Now Serving Dinner" signage through my case of the Mondays eye crusties.  I knew I would have to check it out one of these days.

I came in the early afternoon for some late day dumpy pajama breakfast(served all day) fare.  The tiny spot is salmon colored and dotted with less than 10 tables and a line of barstools which sit facing the stove adorned with that nostalgic metal "pillow" pattern reminiscent of a diner moreso than the Old World.  The dishes and bowls are in plain view in a cabinet, and due to their sheer number, you'd think Theo was feeding hordes of those Marie Osmond godfearing 13 children families.

Another interesting accent in the restaurant are the mysterious European outlets... What does It all mean?  -brings out decoder ring on menu-

The regulars seemed to come in and were served up their "usuals" before even putting tushie to seat and addressed on a first name basis.  1 coffee, 2 creams?  Grilled cheese with tomatoes? Coming right up.  They are most likely the audience which has kept the place going for 19 years!  Yes, Theo's has been on Salem street for 19 years and you can tell the owner has put his soul into it.  I can't imagine 19 years of serving up quality food, and wondering why it isn't packed to the gills like it should be.  I overheard him talking about business being slow and how Saturday night had more of a head count than other weekends, and they strike me as the type of place that even if you are the last one seated...they will keep their doors open and burner on till you are finished with your meal.

A television in the corner serenaded me in an Italian-Spanish-unintelligible hybrid of languages with Discovery Channel snippets of smiling baby Hippopotamuses(ii?)(ae?) which I now learn from Debra R's review would be Brazilian.  Well aren't I cultured.  I should have guessed it was Brazilian since one of their menu items was "Brazilian Food...$10".  Oh.(I found out that it is a rice...beans..etc. melange, but its indescript appearance on the menu amused me.)

The menu had hot and cold sandwiches, salads, soups, and a 1992 Print Shop Pro leaflet about their all day breakfast offerings.  I was game for the Supreme Omelette which was cream cheese, tomatoes and -drumroll- SWEET CORN(!)  It came with a pile of unfinishable hashbrowns and toast.

I am an omelette snob, and I kid you not, this was one of the best omelettes I have ever had.  The omelette was cooked paper thin, yet still retained a fluffy/airiness to it which enveloped the ingredients and let the combination speak for itself.  The meal didn't leave me feeling heavy, or foodcominguptrachea stuffed like breakfasts tend to do.  I'm looking at YOU Western Omelette from IHOP.  I got a side of bacon, prepared to boys liking, perfectly flat.  Not that boys like things that are flat...im definitely not flat...the bacon was..fuck it.

He ordered a steak and cheese, and due in part to his smiley face and its 5 second disappearance, I'd say it was enjoyed.

For what its worth, I put my stamp of approval on Theo's for a casual mid-day bite to eat in the North End as opposed to a night time destination, due purely to its lowkey PJs OK setting.  But it doesn't need to be upscale.  Joowannaknowwhy? Joo wanna? Because, dare I say it..*MOST BREAKFAST IN THE NORTH END IS AWFUL*.  I only like Contradas(on Charter St)'s breakfast sandwiches, Volle Nolle stopped serving breakfast(WHYY TARA), and no matter what anyone tells you, Pompeii is awful.

Lots of good food in my 5 city blocks, but sometimes you don't want gnocchi with your morning paper.

Theo's is the perfect little neighborhood breakfast eatery. You get your standard breakfast foods here. I love their eggs Benedict and they serve consistently good coffee. Prices are fair, but not cheap for breakfast. Everyone is very friendly and we go here several times a month.

If your worth was measured on personality this place would be Sam Walton...  Although it's tiny and a little dingy this place has great food, wonderful service and an honest neighborhood feel.  I eat here whenever I can.

The world would be a better place if there were more Theo's Cozy Corners and less TGI Fridays.

One of the perks of training for a Triathlon is that I can eat more! So, this morning after a swim (and before a bike ride) my best friend and I went here for breakfast. No Kashi Go-Lean crunch for this girl today. It feels like the weekend came early!

Anyway, this place is literally a hole in the wall but it's damn good. We each got the "2 eggs" special with toast, homefries (we skipped the bacon/sausage option) and coffee for a total of $10 for two. I don't know anywhere else in the city where you can get 2 complete breakfasts in a sit-down place for that little!

I guess the only downside is that even after shower I still smell like a greasy diner. Bad for my co-workers but good for me - I love the smell of homefries!

Theo's is my favorite breakfast spot.  The staff is always friendly and the food is delicious (and cheap)!  The place is really small, so sometimes you have to wait a bit to sit down on weekends, but if you live in the neighborhood and are lazy about cooking breakfast (like me) you can always call in your order for pickup as well.  I've never had it take longer than 10 minutes.  They also serve breakfast all day.  I just wish they were open later!

Awesome traditional all-american diner-like breakfast. Sat at the counter and watched the guy cooking eggs and I just have to say he is an egg-master! There is no need to mess with a good thing and Theo's hasn't. I highly recommend if you just want some damn good pancakes, eggs, potatoes, toast, coffee, juice, etc..

I was meeting up with one of my friends that lives in the North End and we wanted to go some place different from the regular cafes and we knew about theo's but I hadn't been yet.
the first thing that stikes me about the place is that it doesn't have the old style restaurant feel that a number of the places in the area have.  It reminds me most of the newly build places along rt 1 in southern Maine and NH.  There isn't a lot of space inside and most of the room in occupied by the tables.  They have a decent little menu of food to choose from but I just felt like an expresso.
I really was impressed by the staff.  The winning factor with them is something that most places lack and that is that they seem genuinely happy to help you out and get you your order.
If you are looking for somewhere comfortable to ge in the northend when you don't feel that you need to impress someone I would recommend going here.

French toast is great and the staff is very friendly. Beware that your clothes will smell like greasy food after you leave. Perfect place for breakfast and brunch. Brazilian channel is always on. They also have a great rice and beans special for lunch that is very popular. It's always very busy here.

Among the fancy restaurants surrounding in the North End you could easily miss this little corner cafe down Salem street, almost at the Old North Church.  I've lived here for a few months now and walk past it all the time and one night I ran in to get some take out for a late dinner after work.  I had just a chicken salad sandwich and my boyfriend had a burger, but it was delicious.  Very affordable and the people are fantastic.  He made the food right as I sat there and waited, it only took a few minutes.  I will definitely be back and can't wait to try breakfast there one weekend!!
