I love the store.  The people there really love fish and want them to be healthy.  They have a huge selection of fresh plants which I rarely see other places.  I have gotten to know the workers and like them very much.  Most everything I need is there, and the prices are normal.

I rarely go into the big pet stores....I only shop at Wet Pets for my fish stuff unless they do not have something I need.  The only reason it might seem more expensive is because this is ONE store that does not get huge discounts by buying in massive bulk to distribute to places like Pet Smart.  But even then....I do not think they are expensive at all.

We recently got two assassin snails there, despite my vow to never get live pets there again. As she was selecting our two, the female clerk picked through the snails and left the empty/dead one's in the tank.

Only one of the two we bought has moved in 24 hours. I think they sold me a dud. They do this all the time. Buying hardware at Wet Pets is fine...just not live critters.

I went to World of Wet Pets looking for items to set up my new aquarium, but left empty-handed.  Why?  Because I've never met a more condescending human being in my life than the man who greeted me at this store.

I'm a new aquarium owner, and the dude working the counter sensed this and wrote me off immediately.  Not once during my 20-minute visit did he make eye contact with me, and the level of snark he exuded was outrageous.  He made me feel foolish and embarrassed for not knowing more about aquarium care, and I ended up just looking around on my own, feeling lost and silly.

The store has an ok selection of plants, but the freshwater fish selection is pretty lackluster and the prices are INSANE.

I plan to check out some of the other pet stores in the area and hope for some better results.

Great Local owned fish store. 2nd best fresh water selection in Portland. The Owner Eric is very nice and will take his time with you. The new Salt guy Paul is the same too. There is one guy( ( dark hair and short)  who has worked there as long as I can remember and he treats me like an idiot, and I am a regular. The prices on fish are good and all fish can get sick if they are stressed or in poor water conditions. I refer people here all the time

I like stores that are dedicated to fish owners and not catering to all pets (like a PetSmart or PetCo). The quality of advice is always more reliable and the supplies often more plentiful. All of this proves true at The World of Wet Pets.

We won three tiny goldfish at a carnival just over a year ago and bought a 10-gallon tank. The two that survived have grown to be at least 5 inches long each. Since we got a new home and they traveled amiably in a Home Depot bucket for days, we decided they deserved a new home, too.

We bought a 26-gallon bowed front tank (curved), hood, lighting, filter, rocks, and a decorative seahorse that my daughter said we must have. The service was great, including carrying everything to my car for me.

Nice selection of tanks and tank decorations. Decent selection of fish. The only gotcha I noticed was when buying my stuff, I noticed the sign that said they only give store credit for returns. That scares me off a little when spending a little over $300...but we got the tank home and love it, so it was fear wasted.

From the street, you won't notice a Wet Pets sign, but a huge "Tropical Fish" sign. That's the place.

I like this little store but since I am a salt water guy I have to say they have just one tank of corals, and maybe a dozen tanks of fish, but they do have nice healthy fish.  A good selection of them and lot are captive bred which is really nice as I don't feel I am raping the ocean when I buy a fish and it is nice to know that they specialize in that for fresh water too.

The shop is very close to Aquaticus, the all saltwater shop, its just accross Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy and down a couple of blocks.  They have some tanks for sale but not a ton and they have some good supplies too.

The four stars is for freshwater fish only.  It is a 3 star shop for salt water.

I get into keeping an aquarium a few years ago and have really enjoyed keeping different kinds of freshwater tropical fish. World of Wet Pets in Beaverton has the best selection and most knowledgeable staff that I am aware of for freshwater on the westside of Portland.  I'd avoid places like Petco and come here for any fish hobby needs.

Their prices are very reasonable and they will take fish you no longer want and give you credit for them towards the purchase of other goods.

More DATA (please imagine a computer voice when you read that, thanks):
    1. Selection - Freshwater selection is very good. Often have hard to find varieties and are usually in stock with the normal stuff.  Good selection of cichlids and traditional freshwater.  This is a very large store with a lot of tanks in it.  Saltwater section is quite small and I'm not sure why they bother...
    2.  Knowledge - The main owner is a treasure trove of info, but some of his staff seem to kind of guess on occasion in order to make a sale.  Still, I almost NEVER get truly BAD advice here.
    3.  Quality of fish, environment, etc..  Almost never see floaters (dead fish that have not been cleaned up).  Fish seem healthy and tanks are clean and in good repair.
    4.  Other goods: great selection of different aquarium sizes and types, reasonable prices on supplies.  Not a good selection on decorations, but I think they are working on that.
Other comments:  Have a small staff, and the store hasn't been around that long, so when it is busy you may have to wait awhile for service.  But when they do get to you, they are attentive and spend time understanding your situation.

Great selection of fish and plants. Got my fish Monty (a lion-head goldfish) from here. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. There are fish stores close to were I live but I drive out of my way to go here because of the selection and staff.

I haven't actually gone into the store, but I was referred to the owner by someone that works at Petco. My fish has been sick for a while, and although the girl at Petco gave me her opinion, etc... she told me that if anyone would know what to do, it'd be the owner/guy that works at The World of Wet Pets. I was told he was a fish expert, so I gave him a call. He was pretty patient with me, gave me advice on what to do and what he thought might help. For that, I'm extremely grateful. He didn't belittle me or make me feel like I was upset over "just a betta". He was objective yet sympathetic.
