8 reviews for The Woods
+ Huge Outdoors area (and they are planning to expand it)
+ Love the raw interior design
+ Nice Bartenders
+ Taco Truck!
Psst... The cart out back serves up some seriously amazing Mexican food. Now that you know, don't tell anyone.
Really though, I don't know if I'll be able to stomach this place once it starts attracting the crowds the owners intend. It's run by the same people that own Savala's, if that gives you any hints. It's also hard for me to like such a copycat gimmick (pickle backs and a taco stand out back, hmm, why does that ring a bell) but the food here really does deserve some attention. The drink specials aren't so bad, and the bartenders are friendly. I could see myself adding another star or two in the upcoming months depending on what direction this place turns.
Yea! Amazing taco truck I found you! The truck is the one that used to be on Bedford and Metropolitan. Bonita is gone but, you can find your taco fix here for a fraction of the price. Try the slope yummy!
The bar is great too, cheap beer and good service!
I went here for a Halloween party. The bartenders were really nice and attentive, even though the venue itself was really crowded. I wasn't really feeling the band that performed but I don't think that took too much from the experience. This place is definitely a hipster scene.
One thing that makes this place absolutely amazing is their taco and burrito stand in the back. You would have no idea this existed unless you ventured towards the back or noticed people eating food. The burrito was probably one of the best burritos I have eaten in NYC, believe it or not. Chicken was super fresh, as were the vegetables and they wrapped the burrito so it wouldn't spill all over you if you had to stand and eat. I tried getting a taco but the line was too long. I'm sure those would have been just as good!
probably the best bar ever created in history. (including ancient babylon) even if you are a fat pimply smelly-face guy with a credit score under 470, you will still have a great time here! bring your friends but leave your inhibitions and fear of lobsters at home...
I've been here twice. Once for Karaoke, (hosted by the old guy who drives around town singing 50's songs in his red minivan!!) and once on Halloween. Both times were blurry fun. The space is nice and big and the bar itself is really really loooong which is great ...and they have 5 bathrooms! It also has a stage for live music or dancing and a backyard patio with a really yummy taco truck!
I hear they have different DJ's every week...sunday is country night...etc. The weekend music is more rock music and less dance music like Savalas. On Halloween, it was packed to the gills/crazy and the tall bartender girl was still super sweet and fast. Very impressed by the service here. Great beer and shot deals too. The only thing about this place is that both times it got kinda stuffy...so thank goodness for the back patio. But they need some incense or fans.
Good size bar with an amazing patio! The taco stand is awesome, the bartenders are always attentive, drinks are priced well. Great place.
I've been going to The Woods since it opened about a month ago, & it just gets better & better. The bartenders are super-friendly & fun, lots of cheap drink specials, great music, huge backyard, & best of all... the awesome taco cart out back that even makes kick-ass cheeseburgers! I'm constantly amazed at how great the vibe is here, even on crazy weekends when it's packed. Finally there's a place to hang out on the south side that doesn't suck.
