Not only is the coffee delicious, I'm pretty sure it should be illegal. I'm not going to tell you that it'll make you stronger, faster or better at your job, but people can detect if I've had my morning dose from the bean by the way I carry myself when I hit the office. It might not be just the turbo charged java, it could also have something to do with the owners who pass more than coffee to you over the counter. It doesn't matter what sort of mood I'm in when I get there, Bill, Joan and Sam are always genuinely happy to get my morning going right.
I've been starting my day with these folks for over a year and a half now. It's where I go.
This is the best coffee in the LEHIGH VALLEY, hands down. I discovered them because of a yoga class - the yoga instructor actually had coffee for students to purchase before/after class. After one cup, I asked where she got this stuff, it was SO good, and she pointed me to Wise Bean. (This particular time, when I first had their coffee, was the Guatemalan Blend - my absolute favorite.)
I've since moved out of the area, to the West Coast. But every time I come back to visit my parents, I make a point of hitting the Wise Bean at LEAST once (if not more.)
The owners are incredibly nice, as well. It makes me that much happier to be supporting this little gem, any time I can. Yummy pastries, too.
Lastly - all this stuff is GOOD and not at all over-priced. (Unlike some big chain coffee places we know that sell only ok coffee & over-priced pastries that always taste like stale plastic.)
Love Wise Bean. Wish I could take them back to CA with me. :)
This is probably the best coffee shop in Bethlehem, PA hands down!
Fare: The place features the best espresso drinks which actually taste like espresso is supposed to taste like. The staff are obviously well-trained and make their own shots instead of relying on pre-made ones, which makes a ton of difference. In the meantime, price is not sacrificed-I am pretty sure they have the best prices around for most of their espresso drink options. The percolated coffee is a bit on the strong side, but there are usually three or more options there as well. In addition to drinks the place offers some light food including fresh scones from a local bakery in Bethlehem.
Flare: Looks like a real coffee shop. Small on the inside, cozy, friendly, and usually filled with locals. Outside seating is also available.
They don't accept credit/debit cards so bring cash with you.
Their black and white is worth its weight in gold. 'Nuff said!!

They know their coffee at this comfortable family-run shop.
Why, just this morning a guy was in line behind me and he said, "Where is Sumatra anyway? Is it like near Indonesia or what?" And Joan nicely said, "Yes, it's in Indonesia." The guy said, "Cool. I thought so." See? They know their stuff.
Seriously though, everything here is delish. Love the modest selection of fresh baked goods. Sweetener options include Sugar-in-the-Raw and simple syrup (if you want your sugar to be dissolved in iced drinks.) I must have good sugar.
All the coffees I've tried are really good, but my favorite afternoon treat is their Black & White Latte.
With funky coffeeshop colors on the walls, a big sparkly chandelier, a small but comfortable seating area, great music and a friendly professional staff, this is perfect for a quick respite or intimate "I'll meet you for coffee!" meetings.
This place has the best cup of coffee I have ever had. The fact that it is out of the way makes it better. It is a very word of mouth style shop.
