The Windmill

The Windmill in Charlton, just outside Hitchin, is a bit of a hidden secret. It's a lovely little pub with a small beer garden out the back. It sits on the bank of the river and if you eat at the tables out front ducks often wander past picking up any stray food you drop. The bar area itself is quite tiny but has a friendly homely feel and the bar staff certainly make you feel welcome. The Windmill has developed a reputation for the quality of its food over recent years and I'd certainly add my recommendation - prices are very reasonable too. There are a few real ales on sale and they seem well kept. I had my 40th birthday party here and had a great time!
