Unfortunately the reviews given have all been for Silver Dollar City rather than The Wilderness At Silver Dollar City.

The Wilderness is a campground that shares only the SDC name with the actual company that owns SDC.  But don't let that scare you away.

There are spots for Tent's & RV's as well as rentals of RV's and Log Cabin's.

We have stayed in the cabin's a number of times and it is always a fun getaway.  You can go in size from just a bed, all the way up to 3 beds, a kitchenette and a bath.

There is no major maid service, but if you need new linens, just ask and they will get them for you.  However, they will come through and check on you to make sure if you need anything.

We have also stayed in a rental RV.  It was great fun.  However, they are not for larger folks.  We are pretty normal sized, and it was a tight fit for us walking through the RV.

It seems a little pricey, but afterwards you realize it was worth it!

This place is AWESOME!
I've been to Disney, Busch Gardens and all of the fun Florida theme parks a bunch of times, and they're all pretty much the same. There are roller coasters, overpriced fried food and some stores.
Silver Dollar City is so much more than that. There are great (and scary!) roller coasters, water rides, and really good food.
The park is 1800s themed, and in the candy shop there are women making candy the old-fashioned way. In other parts of the park you can watch men blowing glass, and even making nails.
There's just so much to do in SDC, so make sure you take a full day to check it out.

If you've looked at my profile, you know that I love the 1800's.  So, it may come as no surprise that I love Silver Dollar City.  The rides, the shows, the food and the stores; I love it all.  They have some really cool roller coasters, great water rides, a great saltwater taffy store and so much more.

The only drawback is the price (which is a little steep).

I stand by my belief that SDC is better than Disneyland.

The rides are better, hands down.

They have awesome water rides. Buzzsaw Falls and the American Plunge are the regular drop-you-from-way-up high sort of coaster ones. Then the Lost River of The Ozarks is a circular raft ride that fits about 8 people (my nephew insists the seat with the red dot will get you the wettest). And so on and so forth. The one thing they all have in common is that you will get SOAKED. This sucks only for those tourists who don't know that wearing denim shorts is going to chafe your thighs.

Then the big rollercoasters. Thunderation (which you can also ride backwards) takes you flying through the Ozark Mountains, and when you're getting ready to take the big plunge, you have a beautiful view of the hills. Wildfire loops about five times, and then you get to laugh at the faces you made because you get photographed at one point.  Fire In The Hole is an indoor coaster, and scares me to this day. Most of the ride is in the pitch black.

Then, of course there are tons of other rides and things for little kids, too. There are also attractions like a funhouse (Grandfather's Mansion) and live shows. I LOVE any show they put on at the saloon.

If you go, don't pass up on taking a tour of the Marvel Cave. It has been open since 1894, and SDC sort of grew around it. It was discovered around 1500 AD by indians who named it "The Devil's Den" and refused to go in it. It's crazy interesting, and also a history lesson.

I think Disneyland can suck it, because it's bested by an old west themed park in little old southwest Missouri.

Fabulous fun!
This place is like 3 parks in one.

1. the Marvel Cave. The original attraction: take a tour (included in admission) of these natural caves--wear good shoes!

2. the Amusement Park. Water Rides, Rollar coasters, and shows galore!

3. The 1800's Town: This place has reconstructed old cabins, an old church, schoolhouse, etc. and also have lots of artisans just doing their thing here and there all around the park. It's hard to believe they don't really live there because it feels like  a real community, everyone's super duper sweet. :)

ALSO- get 2 days for 1 from the Branson Tourism Center. Plenty to do for a whole weekend (even without lines.) Free parking & tram.

PS- Don't miss the Saloon Show (included in the price)!

Located in the Ozark Mountains, Silver Dollar City is unlike any family theme park. Its right up there with Disney World, but the whole theme and rides are different. It is very family oriented. I went when I was 13-14 yrs old, so Im sure it has changed a lot since I last visited. I do recall the gift shops to be of handmade soaps, candles, and blacksmiths. We watched a family show while we were there of the Haygood Family. It was great. Also, had really yummy frozen lemonade, and the whole park is surrounded by trees, so it isnt quite as hot as other theme parks. I would love to return , one day.
