bf and i were looking for a decent place near SFO within easy access to the city and the ballpark and after a little searching on http://hotels.com decided on this hotel...

nice enough hotel with nice amenities and a nice flat-screen TV...comfortable bedding and awesome shower pressure...it's a quick walk to the BART/caltrain station which makes for an easy transport into the city or over to the ballpark for a ballgame (just make sure when you come back on the train to take the train that stops at EVERY stop, not the express line!!!) the windows were soundproof so no noise from the airport...you have to pay for parking but that seems par for the course for these airport chain hotels....i'm guessing most lodgers are business people whose companies pay for the rooms so parking is just another expense!

not going to sing the hotel's praises, but all in all, it was fine for it's purposes and we got a good deal via http://hotels.com!

Among Starwood brands, I prefer the Westin brand the most. I like the comfortable and relaxing heavenly bed, and heavenly shower with the dual shower-head and massaging features - makes you wanna groan just like the shampoo comercial. And they have good shampoos and conditioners too. Usually, most hotels have cheap ones...not this hotel.

Located just one exit from the airport but close enough from everything. It's just a fifteen minute drive from the city (depending on traffic) and conveniently close to the Millbrae BART station.

They have a great view of the bay and lots of airplanes landing and taking off from the airport. Hey, it's called Westin SFO...so deal with it. They do have a nice Mediterranean style restaurant and a good bar in the lobby area. They also have an indoor pool that was a hit with my kids. Heck, mention pool to them and they're happy to come along.

If you're an SPG member, there are certain perks that come along so I suggest you sign up if are not an SPG member already.

I'm reiterating details others have already said... we needed a place to stay between coming from a football game and going to a wedding on the same day so I used hotwire and was given this hotel.  The plus side is that it ending up being very close to the wedding reception restaurant, since you don't know exactly which hotel you will be given until the reservation is made on hotwire.  The downside is that I've never felt closer to the airport.  I suppose the furnishings and front desk service was four stars according to hotwire, but when I could see and hear the planes take off... it was awful.  We must have been angled towards the less used runway, because the roar wasn't too often, maybe once or twice an hour, but it was still very bothersome in the early morning hours.  Plus I could hear all the doors slamming in the halls even though were at the end of the floor.  I was looking forward to having hot tea in the morning, but only coffee was available in the room.  Although I knew about the parking fee in advance of our stay, but only after the booking was made, I still felt ripped off.  I wouldn't stay here again.

This hotel is listed as a 4-star, but I would actually give it a 3-star rating.  A lot of people are complaining about the $18 parking fee, but that wasn't a big deal to me.  This place just didn't feel like a 4-star hotel, that's all.  I was more irritated by the constant jet noise from the airport, and also the noises from the elevator which was next door.  I guess that's to be expected when you're conveniently located next to an airport.  I would have rated it higher if they offered free WiFi.

$18.00 for overnight parking on their private lot!    WHOA!!!!    There's no free parking anywhere in the area unless you get a guest parking pass from the banquet manager.    On this day (11/24/07) our friends held their wedding reception here.    So part of their reception package included the guest parking passes.    Lucky!   Otherwise, the hotel lobby would have been slammed with angry Filipino guests.     Its $2.00 an hour and no parking attendant - only the power of your credit card will release you from their clutches.    I do believe they didn't want any free public parking because the entrance to the Bayfront Park is directly across the street.

The King Suite
Impressive.  I stayed for one night at $109.00 because of the event (discounted rate because of the wedding).    There was no way I was going to drive back to San Jose after the reception (Thanks Claire for convincing me).   Our hosts had open bar from 6:00pm to 11:00pm and plenty of champagne and wine at the dinner table.   So forget it.  I'm staying.   My room didn't have aerial view of the Bayfront Park - BOO!      Feathered quilt and extra soft pillows - always a big plus for me.    Very clean considering that this hotel just completed renovations.     Overall style:  Executive.

List of amenities with the King Suite:
Office space area with internet access (THERE'S A CHARGE SO BE CAREFUL!  I almost plugged in!  No free WI-FI)
Full bath with dryer
Iron and board
Secured safe
Two bottled waters next to the Starbucks coffee machine - CAFEFUL!  Just don't open it and start drinking it.  It's freakin' $7.50 a bottle!   Sneaky bastards!
Mini Bar - Don't open it!  It's a trap that spells $300.00.   I returned the bar key back to the lobby just in case things get too good or bad.

Hotel amenities:
Small pool with jacuzzi (4 feet deep max.)
Internet stations (beware once you swipe your hotel card, it charges)
Small Starbucks caf at hotel entrance - too pricey.  I might as well drive down the road to a regular
Starbucks.

Will I go back:  No, unless someone has another wedding or event.
Friendly staff:  Yes
Hospitality:  Yes

Worthy for Tourists:  No.   There are no tourist attractions nearby.   The official website is deceiving.   Silicon Valley and Great America are 40 minutes away and helluva drive.   Downtown San Francisco is nearly 25 minutes away.    SFO is the closest at 2 minutes away.    You can absorb the thunderous sounds of the planes from your suite.

The Westin located not far from the SFO airport I found to be nice, clean and quite comfy. We entered through the back which we got a view of the pool from outside while walking in and seeing a guy at the piano playing to left .We turned to the right where check-in was and in front of that was a sitting area.Clean area, cozy and a nice set up.They even had 2 computers set up for people to use,but beware it will cost you.Check-in was a breeze and not much of a hassle.

The Room:

A deluxe, does the deluxe mean the view of the bay..well when we entered the place I thought was nice. The bathroom was on the right when we walked in and further was a decent sized room, which I thought was clean, nicely put together and overall comfy.I mean when I first seen that bed(heavenly bed) I wanted to lay down asap.Everything on the bed was white and quite clean.I will love this bed long, very long time.

The view was nice and the room had a desk and comfy chair with a foot rest.Nice sized television with some cable channels and the
mini-bar is quite, well full. You had small bottles of hard liquor, wine, few cans of beer, juices, chips and other snacks. We didn't touch any of it,however it did look like someone had sipped on a bottle and put it back, but who knows. The bathroom was a decent size and quite clean.

Other goods:

-Internet access also available in rooms
- In room safe
-Airport shuttle
-Bar(not large, but decent enough to grab a drink)
-Gym
-Alfiere restaurant in the hotel w/room service
-Decent room service
-Nice staff and much more.

Alfiere has a decent breakfast menu that seems a little healthy and tasty. The dinner menu sounds tasty,so we decided to get the gnocchi w/artichokes,portabella mushrooms and spinach .The side was whipped yukon gold potatoes that had a different taste, but was ok.What was tasty was the broccoli w/ lemon drizzle. This dish had a nice taste overall and was about $25 dollars.

The Westin is about over $200 dollars given most nights and parking is about $18 dollars, but I would still tell people to try this place out.

Worth a try.

I know the prices may scare some, but if you can afford it,have family in town or on business trip try this place out.

Just watch for the add-on fees.

What little time I spent in this establishment remains very true to all my experiences with Westin hospitality - that is to say, very pleasant indeed.

The common spaces of this hotel are lofty, elegant, simple and succinct; the staff, courteous and compliant, clearly properly trained professionals with every feature of service.

Our room was appointed in a clean, modern, tasteful manner, with contemporary minimalist furnishing styles and warm, soothing textures. Bathing facilities included marble counters, expansive mirrors, and the ever fabulous dual shower head, a Westin trademark comfort.

Room service was ordered, and punctually and properly delivered, delicious as always - in this case beverage service and dulce de leche cheesecake and strawberry compote. Granted such services are expensive, but there isn't a hotel in the world which doesn't charge the same. At Westin I know I'll always receive something of quality, and that is something for which I do not mind paying.

This hotel is settled immediately south of the airport runways, and I did not hear so much as the rattle of a baggage cart all through my blissful, rejuvenating slumber upon that ever-enjoyable Westin Heavenly Bed.

The more I stay with Westin, the more comfortable and confident I am to know that whenever I stay at their establishment, my experience will be just as fine as I ever have had with them anywhere else. Consistency can sometimes be a blessing.

It's a Westin, so of course it is really nice. One star off for lousy wake up call service. That was my only complaint. I'd schedule a wake up call for 6:30 am, and they might call at 6:20, but they might call at 6:45. I tested this for 2 weeks, setting my own alarm anyway just as a precaution.

The lobby smells awesome, kind of a neat touch. And the staff is really nice and very accommodating. You really can't go wrong with the Westin, even if it's a bit like living at the airport!

Located near SFO (San Francisco International Airport) and about 20 miles from downtown this hotel is mostly a business hotel that offers free shuttle service to and from SFO.

The rates are much better here than the downtown hotels so you can stay here if you want to pay less and take the free shuttle to the airport, there you can pick up the BART ( Bay Area Rapid Transit) to take you to the heart of the city.  The rooms are sound proof  so there is no worries about the airport traffic noise.

The staff is friendly and courteous and the rooms offer the famous Heavenly Beds as well as high speed internet access (for a fee).

This is also a great location for travelers with long layovers.

We lucked out and got to stay here for free, thanks to United, because our flight to SF was delayed and we couldn't get on our connecting flight to LV.

The room was absolutely comfortable, quiet, and the HEAVENLY BED, oh yeah, I'd endure a delayed flight all over again just to slip between the sheets with that honey of an O of a bed!

The woman at the front desk was so courteous and professional at midnight; like her alot. The lobby was really nice for an airport hotel.  I just expected a small lobby with a rickety side table with coffee carafes, but it's no Super 8!

Overall - would stay here again!

Here on Saturday 1/27/2007 for a free http://www.investools.com seminar.

This review will only focus on the Westin as a business meeting venue.  The Ball rooms are so-so - nothing overly spectacular.  They serve Starbucks brewed coffees that were very good, however, the pastries (cheese & raspberry danish) provided were substandard hotel fare (-1 STAR).  Enjoyed having the candy dishes and water service in the audience seating areas.

Main lobby is nice and modern.  Seems like a comfortable place to meet or wait.

My peeve for this location was the cost for parking -- $15.00!!!  WTH ?  (-1 STAR) If I were an out of towner, I'd resent paying for parking but do so since it's a necessary business evil.   I really resent having to pay for hotel parking as a Bay Area local.  Thankfully, http://investools.com subsidized $10.00 of the parking, reducing the tab to $5.00.

If you are staying here and you're from out-of-town (especially out of CA), please check out IN-n-OUT (see: http://www.yelp.com/bi... ) on Rollins Avenue on the other side of the freeway.  It's less than a 5 minute drive and worth the visit.

Recently stayed here a couple nights for a conference for my old school.  Staff was great and rooms are nice.  Shower is wonderful, as all Westin showers are.

There was early evening coffee stuff available in the lobby on Friday, complete with very nice people coming around to serve us.  And both nights I was there, we stayed in the lobby until late at night, drinkin' and carryin' on.  They were very accomodating, didn't tell us to be quiet or anything...although, I suppose that was disruptive for anyone around us who were not into it (man, this review could sooooo easily have gone the other way).

If you have to stay by the airport, this is the best place to go.  As a starwood member, you do get a few extra amenities but other than that it is better than a midrange hotel but not anything exceptional.  The beds are very comfy and the lobby is pretty nice.

The Turkey BLT sandwich with sea salt fries from In Room dining is pretty cool.  If only they could take that guest service menu on my tv and make it so I can order my food through a button on the remote.  Now that would be nice.

Nights: 2

This feels like an old hotel that they are trying to 'Westinize'. The fixtures were old, bathroom a bit old-feeling, shower head was your typical Westin showerhead but the tub wasn't really up to par with what you'd expect for the price (we paid somewhere around $220/night).

Staff was solid. Didn't try any of the restaurants.

Couldn't go under 3 stars because the beds are darn comfy.

Would not stay here again for the price.

I helped put on a conference here earlier this month.  I found the hotel staff to be exceptional - whether it was our point of contact for conference rooms and amenities such as internet connections, or the man who brought my lunch to me while I worked in a conference room over the lunch break, I was impressed with the quality of service and attention to detail.

My one complaint is that the internet connection, which didn't come cheap, was very slow at 700Kbps down even with only one computer connected to it.  For you non-techies, that means it was less than half the speed of what you can get with a $20/mo home DSL connection.

By far the dingiest Westin I have ever stayed at.  If I wasn't traveling on business, I would have been really upset to have paid over $200/night when I could have stayed at any of the other nearby airport hotels for the same experience at less than $100.  Sure they've got the Heavenly bed and the Heavenly bath products, but they forgot to update the wall paper, bathroom fixtures and hallways.

Far worse, my co-worker was in bed when another guest unlocked her door, and save for the chain lock would have walked right in.  Evidently the front desk didn't have record of her checking in, and gave another guest a key to her room.  She received little more than an apology from the staff, who sounded like they were going to ask her to move rooms.

Yes.  This is a 3* business hotel but it is the best hotel at the SFO airport and believe me I have tried them all.  I have spent more than 350 nights at this Westin and everyone knows me on sight.  The staff is very nice and the bartenders (usually Dan and or Mike) are great.  If you are looking for a SFO airport hotel and don't expect a Four Seasons, this the place.  The major downfall is that the food is awful.  But the Heavenly Bed is great.

for a last minute reservation for a weekend wedding, the westin has the nice ambience once you walked in. however, i got in on a later flight that i was too tired to even bother the handicapped bathroom for the room they gave me. other than that, the room was clean, spacious and has modern aesthetics all around. the other thing that takes out a star or two in my rating is for parking. at least guests shouldn't have to pay for this and what was up with the san mateo fee and tourism fee??.. fees shmees....

I stayed here when a townhouse I was supposed to move
into in San Francisco flaked on me in 9/05.

A pleasant surprise was the cleanliness and modern
comfort the hotel offered. The room service menu was
great too, with generous portions of steak, wine &
potatoes with all the trimmings, plus it was actually
yummy and made you forget it was room service.

Kudos to the Management, I'm very impressed.
