33 reviews for The Westin Peachtree Plaza, Atlanta
I stayed here a few weeks ago for a convention in Atlanta. This Westin is a highrise hotel in the middle of downtown Atlanta. There is not much to see and do in the surrounding areas and cabs are expensive to go to and from the shopping areas, nightlife and anything else worth seeing.
The "Heavenly Bed" is very comfortable and the "Heavenly" shower is nice, also.
Make sure to bring toiletries and don't rely on the gift shop or there being a CVS nearby, as the gift shop closed for an hour (during 6pm for a "lunch break") and there is a ghetto gift shop across the street that sells dusty razors and hair products from the 70s.
By far the worst Westin experience and being SPG Platinums, we frequent the Westin brand of hotels while traveling.
First, they have built out 18 desks for check-in, but only 1 at most 2 are manned even during a sold-out week.
Second, the concierge sucks and told me to stop looking for shopping when I asked about a pharmacy. When asked to mark an address on the map, he told me - you have the address, you have the map, just follow it on your own.
We were upgraded to a suite and the view was quite spectacular and the living room was spacious, however, the bathroom was the tiniest ever - I felt like I was in Japan!
The bath stopped kept getting jammed and they never fixed it properly.
Room service/housekeeping was terrible - every time we called, regardless of the time of the day, no one ever bothered picking up the phone.
The staff was generally rude and obnoxious, unhelpful and defensive.
The hallways stink of garbage - something wrong with their sewage system?
Just ewwww ewww eww experience overall!

I've never stayed at a Westin before nor have I've been to Atlanta, so I figured if I went to Atlanta, I had to stay at the Westin and do it up big. When we approached the hotel, it building doesn't look all nice and glossy as it looks in pictures. We found out right away that parking was pricey as hell. I forget the rates, but I know they were just outrageous. We found a parking deck about 2 blocks down the street for $5 dollars a day, so we parked the car there for our whole stay and walked and took the MARTA everywhere we wanted to go. Our room had spectacular views, being on the 57th floor. The room overlooked Turner Field, The CNN Center, Georgia Aquarium, Georgia Dome, and Phillips Arena. The room appeared to be average....nothing really stuck out about it. The next morning we woke up and wanted to eat breakfast. We saw the prices and menu for the breakfast that they had at the hotel and my mouth just dropped....$28 dollars for breakfast a person??? That could feed a family of 4 if you eat at the right place. Needless to say, we didn't eat there....once again, we found somewhere two blocks away that had a pretty good breakfast for less than 28 bucks for TWO people.
I can honestly say that I don't have the desire to stay at this place again. I had a better stay at a Super 8 for a third of the price and the whole parking issue definitely would play in whether I would stay here again....it's just too much of a hassle.

This hotel is was the worst Westin I have ever stayed in. My room smelled like mold big time and so i went to the front desk and had my room changed! However my new room smelled even worse... I had to get a new room key every day. I would never stay here again!!!! Bunk...
I am a Starwood faithful and this is the nastiest Starwood hotel I have stayed in. I have stayed in all levels of starwood properties and this does not even qualify. The only reason it gets two stars is because of the Heavenly bed...you can't really go wrong with that. The hotel is dated, the carpets are stained, the air is musty, and the bathrooms are tiny. Supposedly they are "refreshing the floors" but I will not give it a second chance and would advise you against giving them the first chance. Sure the view is great but not worth it. By the way, I thought it was just the first room I got so I switched rooms and the 2nd room was the same.

I just got back from a work conference and I stayed at the Westin. I can't say enough good stuff about the Westin. Stayed on the 54th floor. It was beautiful. the staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and nicely decorated. I loved the floor to ceiling windows, amazing view and their "heavenly" bed & bath. Seriously the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever had. The dual shower head was pretty cool too. I went for a run at the gym on their treadmills which were fancy treadmills, with every bell and whistle you could ever want plus TV. I especially loved and appreciated the fact that you could decline housekeeping daily (I am a green girl after all) and in return they gave you $5 to spend at the hotel, since there was a starbucks in the lobby, that worked out rather nicely for me!!! the hotel was in close proximity to the Olympic Park, Peachtree Center Mall and the Georgia World Congress Center (location of my conference) as well as the Aquarium, CNN Headquarters, etc. I also took a short walk down to CVS to stock up on some water and snacks. My only gripe about the place was the fact that the construction scaffolding that transported an elevator full of men up and down the side of the building was attached to my window and ever window above and below me. They only used the elevator during the day, and they always rode with their backs to the room but still it blocked my gorgeous view a tiny bit and it was a little noisy when it was in operation. Also the Sundial restaurant and view area was closed because of the construction and I really wanted to check that out. The rate I got through the conference was great.

Like a lot of the other reviewers, I was amazed by the stunning view out the floor to ceiling windows. However, that was about all that impressed me about the hotel.
Westin touts their "Heavenly Bed", but it felt no more comfortable than your standard hotel bed. If I had to pick a hotel based on their beds, I would go with Sheraton or Doubletree.
Showers came equipped with the "Heavenly" double shower head. Good idea, except there wasn't enough water pressure, so with 2 heads, the water came out just a little more than a trickle. Towels were of the thin, generic kind you'd find at a lower end chain.
One thing I was impressed with was the promptness with which guest services responded to my requests, especially for a hotel that size. After arriving in my room, my TV burned out and within 5 minutes a technician was in my room replacing it. Later in the night, my request for a new remote was also immediately fulfilled.
Overall, I was disappointed with the stay. I had much higher expectations from a Westin.
First of all, the view is amazing! I'll start with the pros before the cons.
- Gorgeous view
- Sun Dial Restuarant is amazing, not only the view, but a great staff & good food. (I have a diff review just for that restaurant - http://www.yelp.com/bi...)
- decent staff
CONS:
- small room
- even smaller bathroom
- dirty rugs & carpets, especially in the hallways with huge stains. EWW!
- maid came into my room when I specifially said do not enter my room & had the sign hanging out my door
- definitely an older venue
I've stayed at waaay better Westin's than this place. I would probably stay at the new W Hotel next time I'm here than in the Westin.
I stayed here for the Refugee Women's Network Conference, and hated pretty much every minute of it.
First off, everything around the hotel closes at 10, except the Hooter's across the street (surprise! Let me guess, lots of traveling business men?). The parking is also ridiculously expensive, so if you bring your car, you'll probably want to leave it there. The hotel "generously" gave us a $2/day discount for the conference. Gee, thanks!
To make it even classier, they close most of their exits between 11 and 6, which means if you want to get out for a drink, you're probably going to spend half an hour, just trying to get out. Um, fire hazard much?
I was really excited to go to the sun dial (especially since if you're not staying at the hotel, they charge you just for going up the glass elevator). Well, they still haven't fixed the glass elevator, so you can't even see out of it - it's completely blacked out. And yet they're still charging people for it? That's kind of insane. But I'll save that for my sun dial review.
It is also crazy to me that a hotel as expensive as the Westin is, doesn't have free internet. Freaking motel 6 and best western has free wifi, get with the program westin.
The rooms for the conference were unimpressive and uncomfortable. The only tables there were, were for the presenters - this means if you wanted to take notes during the presentation, or god forbid, take notes on your laptop, you were stuck with it in your lap.
The catering for the conference also sucked. I'm vegan, and after having being burned at other conferences, I called up the hotel directly to find out if they've ever cooked for a vegan, and what they would feed me. They reassured me and gave me great examples. If only they would have followed through. Every meal was basically a variation on grilled vegetables, so by the end of the conference I was cranky as all hell. They tried one meal to make grilled tofu, but they didn't press it, or marinate, or really even grill it for more than 5 seconds. And it wasn't just me - they fed me mostly the same stuff as the vegetarians, and they were just as cranky and unsatisfied as I was. People, feed a vegan protein is NOT hard - there's beans, lentils, all kinds of nuts, quinoa, tofu, tempeh, seitan, and so on.
The rooms themselves were fairly comfortable, but the rooms with 2 beds were REALLY short. I'm only 5'6" on a good day, and my feet hung off the bed. I can't imagine if anyone were taller. However, it seems the other furniture in there is just for show, because the couches are ridiculously uncomfortable.
Westin gets 2 stars solely because the beds were pretty comfy, and their staff was pretty nice. I would never go back though, nor would I recommend it to anyone coming to Atlanta.

I absolutely loved my stay at the Westin! I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I will tell you that the parking was expensive and the rooms aren't HUGE, but I was staying here for pleasure and not business. The view from my room was absolutely gorgeous, I could see the whole city. Their "heavenly bed" was amazing! I did not want to get up in the AM. Room service was very fast and yummy. The gym was nice, as was the pool. Unlike other hotel gyms they had a lot of equipment as well as free weights and machines.
I would definitely spend another night here!
I visited ATL for the Labor Day weekend and stayed at The Westin, mainly because it was the host hotel for our event. I must say that my stay was indeed enjoyable. No the hotel is not perfect, like many things there are flaws as expected. My room was on the 58th floor, had an amazing view. The staff were very attentive to my needs. That boils down to the Guest services to Valet. Everyone was very kind. The only issues that I had, which are my tub kept stopping up. And do to the location of my room being next to the "scenic elevator" , I was only able to enjoy half of the view of the city since the other half behind my curtains was a wall! Ugh! and the elevator begin to make some kinds of loud knocking noise, which I thought was from the room above me, but figured the increase and decrease of the noise it was the elevator passing by, another ugh!. But I did enjoy my stay overall, the lil minibar is cute but expensive. I would visit this hotel again but in a different room. But, I also checked out the W hotel too, so I might consider that one, ummmm I wonder if it's on my SPG.....
One night was all I needed in this place. Shame on me for trying to be a big shot and not listening to the warnings of my fellow Yelpers
There are 3 main attractions that bring people to the Westin.
1. The view from tyour very own glass wall(especially if you are upwards of the 68th floor).... Trust me, not every view is a good one and if looking at a bum constitutes a good view then just go to NY
2. The Pool has a great view...IF IT WAS OPEN, I swear that tornado was well over 4 months ago but I'ts still screwing over my water play
3. The Glass Elevators that overlook everything on your way up damn near 70 floors...BROKE, another casualty of the Tornado.
Even if all of these attractions were great the rooms still wouldn't be big enough for a Westin. And don't get me started on the non existent WiFi... Do I even need to say any more?

Okay, the rooms ARE a bit small here. But I had great view, the beds were nice and fluffy, and it was easy to find after walking around all day. Just look for the tall round building.
The wait for the elevator gave me a great excuse to chat up new people - like I really needed an excuse. ha!
It was comfortable and clean enough for my particular needs. I'd spent and ENTIRE day walking around, doing productive things, and by the time I got back to the room, it was either to get ready to go out for the evening or to sleep. Expect it to LOOK like what you'd expect a Westin to look like, but be aware that all the space in here is a bit tight and compact. Jump on the bed a couple times before going to sleep if it starts bothering you. It won't make the room any bigger, but it sure is fun.

Had a recent stay. I was assigned a suite on the 68 floor. I asked to be moved to a room in 40-50 section of the hotel as I HATE WAITING on elevators at this property.
Some service issues occurred. In my initial inspection, I noticed several lights out in the bed room and in the bathroom over the shower and no toiletries. Took three calls to have that fixed. I was told that the "storm" [let me tell you, that little snow storm crippled the city and Atlanta want to be a major city - yeah, right!] has caused a high percentage of employees to call out. I told the guest services operator that I appreciate her honesty, but I don't think that is something you should tell a guest, since customer service should be transparent to me.
The next morning at 8 AM the there is "banging" on the door. I look through the peephole and it's the housekeeper. Not to be a drama queen, but the manner in which she banging on the door, you would have thought there was an emergency. I open the door and ask what's the problem and why are you knocking on the door when the "do not disturb sign" is in place. No response. Deer in headlights look. I ask if she speaks English. She says no. I ask again in Spanish. She responds "oh". So I give her some strong advice. Call guest service and report the problem. They send up the housekeeping manager caught hell from me! I ask, "How can you hire someone that doesn't speak or understand English?" That could be very dangerous
Other than that things were fine.
The suite consists of two rooms [king room and parlor room], both the size of a king room, which is perfect for a single traveler. The parlor connects to a double-bedded room.
Overall First Impression: Nice, much better for those that don't like waiting for the elevator and more intimate than the top floor suites
Furniture & Decor: casual modern and in decent condition.
TV: 27 inch TV in an Armoire
Lighting: Ample lighting
View: Nice view of the north part of the city, Midtown, etc.
Workspace: Standard desk for this property. Coffee maker is also on this desk.
Radio/Audio: Bose radio.
The room also has its own bath and the sofa is a sleeper sofa.
The lack of a lobby restaurant with consistent hours, wireless in the rooms and inconsistent BASIC service standards and proper staff training at "flagship" will come back to haunt this property. They will have to up their game or turn into a Sheraton.
It's rumored this property will soon undergo a renovation. They will need to update their property to compete with the New W at Allen Center and the W Midtown (converted from a Sheraton).

This was a pretty decent hotel. I loved that there was a Starbucks in the Lobby and it had a very decent restaurant that cooked health conscience breakfast's.
I stayed here for 5 days while at a conference for Keller Williams and it was not too bad. The lobby is nice, although some of the rooms and hallways need updating AND there is no WiFi. Glad I had my blackberry and it's connection cord!
The business center wasn't bad and not too expensive to use.
The only thing that by definition "sucked" was that there was a major power outtage one of the mornings we were there and I couldn't get ready for my conference...gave me license to sleep in until 9am because I was jet lagged while my boss had to walk down 50 something flights of stairs...I was not that ambitious and wasn't going out in the freezing cold with my hair wet!

It's a Westin. If you're staying at a Westin it's probably because you like consistency...you're going to get the same thing at every Westin - friendly staff, clean rooms, nice linens, a charge for every possible service, but every service is available and will be done promptly.
I like consistency. And this Westin, like all others, delivers in those areas. And...actually went a step beyond in some ways.
I got to Atlanta at 6:06am. I had resigned myself that I'd be able to check in and would have to leave my bags with a bell hop. An angel was smiling on me and I had a room and was warm in a bed by 7:30. Over the next few days, I got to use several of the amenities and everything was good - the business center is reasonably priced for computer use and printing. Package handling was also reasonable ($5 for a 4lb package). The fitness center is a "Westin Workout by Reebok" and has a good selection of Cardio machines. It's a tiny space, but each machine has a tv and really...how much space is necessary.
The rooms though - are small. Not horribly small - and again how much space do you need? The bathrooms do feel a bit claustrophobic, and the layout is weird, but it's comfortable. Plus there's the wall of windows and a view of Atlanta (though mine was very uninteresting). My boss called me when he checked in raving about the room.
The staff is friendly. There's an evening concierge that is professional and nice and set me up with dinner at Food Studio. Everyone else is courteous with a special dose of southern charm...as in every single person with a westin badge makes an effort at eye contact and a genuine hello.
So why 4 stars. No wifi in rooms. Really....it's 2008. Get with it. That's the one thing I've grown to expect from Westin (and any hotel of this caliber) and it's tremendously disappointing to not have it. There is a wired connection but my iBook is funny about that...so 4 days with very little internet. Somehow I survived.
Anyway - it's a Westin. Nice central location and is close to MARTA. It's appeared as a conference hotel for 2 different conferences I've attended. And, if anything, it's consistent

Not impressed with this property at all. Everything just feels a little old, disconnected, mismatched and rigged.
The staff at check in was nice enough. My room seemed great at first, but upon further inspection, everything is just a little off. A big pink stain on the floor. A stain on the couch. Too much furniture crammed into the room. The curtains are faded and the furniture is banged up.
We headed up to the rotation bar/restaurant for drinks and really, it feels like the fancy place in town that really isn't so fancy and that no one local would be caught dead. It's a little shabby and the drinks were "eh" the food was forgettable.
I prefer the Hyatt down the street.
I must say I was disappointed in my stay here this past weekend!! My boyfriend had suprised me with our romantic weekend being here at the Westin Hotel. He had it all planned out, and was super disappointed based on the price he paid for the room.
He had ordered flowers to be sent to the room ahead of time and had asked them to just open them and put them in the vase they came with before we checked in (b/c our check in was later in the day and he had asked for the delivery to be early enough to where they could accomodate this). So he checks in, and makes sure that's all set, and what not. Well I'm super excited we're staying here, b/c I've heard it's really nice, and have been to the hotel for business before. Well we get our room, and were disappointed at how unkept it was.
The flower wrappings and everything were just thrown on the floor/bed and the curtains were broken, the heat was broken, it looked like the room hadn't been cleaned properly before we got there. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT on my boyfriend's behalf. So then we called them and asked for the heat to be fixed, and we went to dinner, we came back and they had just jacked the heat up (not fixed it) and the room was still cold. So we called the front desk and asked for a room change. Which they did provide us with.
The 3 stars are purely for 1) the breath taking view in the room through the panoramic floor to ceiling windows 2) the courteous and helpful staff and 3) the "heavenly bed" (I just sank right into it).
Overall, it might have just been a "one-time" bad experience, but I would rethink another stay at the hotel......it wasn't what I expected out of a Westin.

We actually booked this hotel intending for another nearby taking a crap shot on hotwire. Reading the previous reviews I was actually upset and nearly tried everything in my power to cancel the reservation - which you can't do on hotwire. . .
But then, I calmed down - told myself it couldn't be that bad and decided we'd give it a try. And I'm glad we had.
Pros: Room was clean, nice view, service was actually prompt considering we were on the 57th floor.
Cons: Didn't have a flat screen television, complimentary wifi, like a lot of other hotels - don't get stuck waiting for an elevator.
A few tips:
Check-in as close to the 3 o'clock time as possible. That way if the room is unsatisfactory - go back downstairs and ask for another. Rooms generally are assigned as people come, so you'll have more leeway if you get there earlier
Valet parking isn't cheap, but if you're there on the weekend you might find something nearby since parking restrictions are less stringent then.
I was here for a three day biz conference. Views from the rooms are great and rotating restaurant has good food. Catered food at events were unremarkable, with the excpetion of some killer cheesecake. All the hotel employees were very courteous and helpful.
The big disappointment at this property is the waiting time to get an elevator. I suppose that is what happens when you have 70+ floors, but it was a significant PITA that made me late to meetings (in the same bloody hotel!).

I came here with my husband and a friend for Dragoncon. We stayed on Thursday night through Sunday night and it was pretty great. We were expecting one bed and my friend would camp out on the floor but we managed to get 2 beds. Surprisingly hubby and I fit into one and his snoring didnt bother me. The beds are super comfy.
The room was clean. I can't really call it small because its just the way the building is made- its a giant, skinny, skyscraping rod. In order for the building to exist your room will be this way. Didn't matter we only slept there, it wasn't meant for recreation.
Everything was clean, my only complaint about that was the bathroom only had a light and no vent feature. Most hotels I've been in have a vent that turns on with the light to get rid of steam, smells, etc. Oh well, my friend committed to staying with us so she had to take the good with the bad :)
We got the room on priceline for $83 a night. For that price, everything was really freaking awesome. I could see being disappointed if you had paid more. My only other complaint is that there wasn't free wireless. It was $15 a day or so, and every single thing has a charge. Parking, internet, sneezing, probably. Its what you'd expect from the atmosphere of the place but still, it was cheap for us and the convention was just a block or two down the street. We had easy access through the mall, too so it was nice.
Everything else about the hotel was fine- the staff was really friendly, curteous and helpful. It was what service at a place like this should be. I would say if you're here at a peak hour though, plan a head as waits for valet car retrieval and luggage can bottle neck.
WHY THE HELL IS EVERY OTHER STREET IN ATLANTA NAMED PEACH TREE???
I like this hotel. But i guess if u have to live here for work, it sucks,
The room actually stunk like old socks. i dont kno why. The fitness center at the hotel is the biggest ive ever seen in hotels. That makes me happy. Gotta stay in shape after piggin' out in ATL ya kno?
Check out Sundial. THe restaurant on the 72 nd floor. The frickin restaurant rotates 360! Really romantic...best views of atlanta in my opinon.

While I must preface by saying I've never actually stayed in the hotel itself, I've been relatively impressed by the convenient location and grandeur vibe of their hotel lobby. I was on my way to the Sun Dial for brunch and marveled at the exterior look of the hotel and was completely surprised that it was a Westin hotel. To my understanding, its one of Atlanta's finest given its relatively convenient downtown location and excellent views of the city.
One of these days I will make this my place to stay and enjoy for another visit to Atlanta.

The bedrooms are very modern-chic and roomy. My room was on the 19th flr and the view of the city I had through the floor-to-ceiling, panoramic windows was breathtaking. The bed (queen) was soft and adorned with crisp, sexy linens. Oh, and the pillows! Big, dive-right-in pillows galore... Bathroom was big and clean with an ample supply of soft towels and toiletries. I also enjoyed the big tub after a long day at the conference.
The Westin Peachtree features a rotating bar (Sun Dial) at the very top. Sipping a glass of wine in one of their plush couches, carrying on a low-toned conversation, and enjoying the night view of the sparkling downtown were the perfect way to end my visit to Atlanta.

By far one of the best hotels in downtown Atlanta. The rooms feature amazingly comfortable beds, endless views, great mini bars, and clean bathrooms. The elevators are quick and they have very convenient parking options including a friendly valet service.
I have always been able to quickly check-in and enjoy my room. The hotel features a Starbucks, The Sundial restaurant (which rotates 360 degrees for a complete view of Atlanta), and numerous meeting rooms. It's a great choice and their parent company, Starwood, has a fantastic rewards program.

The Westin is over priced for what you get. I stayed two nights and end of spending 450.00 bucks. The rooms are small, but the view is awesome. I had a room on the 61st floor so I could see just about everything. The best part of this hotel is the inside pool (Heated) and the bar on the 72nd floor.
Westin should remove their name from this hotel.
This is a sad version of what a Westin hotel should be. The rooms are small and run down. The bed was definitely not their famous "heavenly bed" that all Westins carry - it was so uncomfortable. It seems like all the furniture in the room was worn.
The only pluses are the amazing view in the Sun Dial bar and the Starbucks in the lobby.
Wow, are we talking about the same hotel?
Admitly, I don't stay at hotels that often, but when coming here, it was quite nice. I had a nice view of the city, and I get to eat in the buffet a lot.
Of course, my company paid for all this, so that's probably why I had a better impression of the place. :D
I grew up in the ATL and I remember coming to the last incarnation of this hotel for prom night dinner (rented tux!), and before that remember watching it used in the classic Sharkey's Machine. So I was ready to be impressed.
But instead I found a run-down hotel that was completely unable to capture it's former glory. The rooms are small and dingy, the lobby is shabby-looking, the elevators are so slow I thought they were broken, and the room service is expensive, slow and bad...but at least you get to pay a pretty high rate for the privilege.
What saves this from 1 star? The upstairs bar still has some of the best views in the city.
The verdict: Stay at the Four Seasons.
The room I had was great. And the view from the higher rooms is to die for.
The bar at the top of the hotel rotates, & gives you a 360 degreee view of Atlanta. You can go up for one cocktail (it's pricey) if you don't want to fork out for dinner. As it turns labels show you what direction you're looking at, & tells the area name (such as Stone Mountain.) It's an Atlanta must-see, & I force it upon my friends when I find out they've never done it. It's also great entertainment for out-of-town guests.
The Westin's location is also primo - in the heart of downtown & across the street from the Peachtree Center Marta station.
I loved staying at this hotel. It was back in 1996 so my memory is a little off about it, but it was very modern and cozy. They had huge beds and soft pillows and the greatest of amenities. If I remember correctly, they also have a big bath tub and a little refrigerator with sweets. Aside from that, the building is visually stunning and one of the greatest sites to see in Atlanta. It was a great experience aside from the valet guy slamming the door on my finger.

This is my favorite hotel in ATL. It is located across the street from the Marta which makes getting around the city super easy. The last time I stayed here I had a room on a high floor with an amazing view of the city. The bed was so comfortable that I had a hard time waking up :)
the view detracts from the worn out carpet. the chair in the room was hard. breakfast was costly-20 dollars for the same fare you can get anywhere else. the man serving breakfast was incredibly nosy-i wasn't wearing my sunday best, but i think he thought i was a homeless person the way he kept looking over my shoulder. no laundry facilities. the lobby is dark. i didn't get a free newspaper. no pcs for guests to use. but the view is great.
