Guess I am not a hotel snob? Or maybe I was staying in the new wing of the Westin. This hotel is no Super 8 or Best Western. That's why its rated four stars on priceline and hotwire. It's definitely not a resort location like most hotels in Hawaii. Or an exciting locale like NYC. This is a good hotel for business and tourists on a budget. It was next to LAX. Talk about convenience. 10 minutes to Hollywood, Burbank or downtown. (no traffic of course)
The hotel was modern and quite nice. The rooms were clean. The pics make it look like an Holiday Inn, but it's not! This hotel was certainly not as hip and super upscale like newly constructed hotels, but in this economy? I am looking for reasonable rates and comfort. I stayed here over the weekend for $66 a night. Yes, $66 a night!!! Less than crack motels on Sunset.
Most importantly, I felt safe parking my car and myself. The parking was reduced to $15 a night. Garage well lit, safe and close. Expect LA hotels to charge for parking and upwards $40 a night downtown.
Service was pleasant. Kin was great at the front desk in assiting me check in after an exhausting day of work. The next day the concierge was helpful in mapping my trip out to Studio City.
At the end of the day, when my head hits the pillow I like to feel comfy. I did. Who does away from home? This bed was like princess and the pea. So soft -the pillows. Like a cloud. Take it from a x-personal shopper specializing in high end linens. I could care less if the furniture and decor looked late 80's. Slept like a baby. Saw shadows of airplanes but heard no noise. No, I was not high...
There was a mini-coffee maker and Starbucks coffee in the room. I did not eat here, but checked out the menu-selection and liked it. Although I was working, there was a pool and gym too. Price conscious? This is the place to stay.

VERY disappointed that they took out the Westin double shower heads. Now the showers are just like EVERY other hotel.
What's up with the dial up internet speeds and WEAK signals?
Since I don't pay for the rooms, I don't notice the nickel and dime charges, but I can verify that there are snacks in the room and if you lift them up, auto charged to your room...remove anything from the fridge, same thing...
it's very unwelcoming to know that you have to watch your every move to not get charged...

Stayed here for over a week, and the hotel was very nice! Not the best Westin hotel, but regardless, it's a nice place to stay close to LAX.
The rooms are nice and the beds are super comfy.
4 stars on Priceline ? ARE THEY KIDDING????
what a scam ... run down and old ... small bathroom and in need of full remodel. Maybe this was a 4 star in 1980 ... ANOTHER reason to be super careful with Priceline.
$75+ fees + taxes + parking ... i wouldn't bid more than $50 next time.
Of all the hotels to stay near LAX, why would you want to stay at this one. The looks sucks! Stay at Hilton or Marriot! Even Radisson is a little bit better!
We were a little scared after we read lots of negative reviews, but it turned out to be OK. The room is old but still clean. I think it's a good deal considering the price. The parking is $18/night and still acceptable. We are careful enough not to open the refrigerator. Since this is a family trip, it's fine with me not to connect to Internet. Although it's near the airport, it's very quiet and my son loved to count the airplanes.
In addition, they gave me a coupon for a cup of Starbucks coffee and a pastry, and my son enjoyed the pastry a lot while I had my morning cup.
My current home until we move to Pico + Fairfax... Being off to the south is not the most convenient location, but the hotel has a gym, and pool so I'm game. Also it is spacious and huge by new york standards. I guess any hotel would fit that description in LA, no?
Anyway, very comfortable, and great service.
Excellent stays last week at this location. I worked a conference as well. I can honestly say that the accommodations from room comfort to banquet facilities are excellent. While my room was perfectly comfortable, it was a little annoying listening to the planes take off during the night. I had to run the air conditioner all night (which I do not care for) to overpower the LAX noise. I guess I got over that, so I am still sticking with the four stars.
The banquet and conference staff were accommodating. At one point, I had to get some extra chairs and tables myself rather than waiting for the staff to take care if it. They were taking too longs, so I had to dig into the back hallways and unused rooms to get what I needed.
Banquet food was consistently excellent, and the bar is a lot of fun. I will likely stay here on an annual basis, so any issues will have to be overlooked.

This Westin is really a dump. If you need to be at LAX at 4AM, you'd be better off staying in Marina del Rey at the Courtyard or the Marriott. I've stayed here, twice due to work and could not in good conscience recommend this to fellow business travelers. The food isn't good, ambiance needs an uplift and walking anywhere is dangerous.
The only reason I give the 2 stars v 1, is the service is good. You have to "try harder" with a product such as this!
This is an expensive hotel. I'm giving it low marks because while it's expensive, it also charges you for services that would be free in any sanely run lodging. There is no fridge, but a minibar where you aren't allowed to store your own soda, leftovers, etc. If you do put anything of your own in there (and it's the only fridge in the room, mind) the charge is $25. They have internet for $11.25 per night. Bottled water in the room is either $3.50 or $5.50 depending on the brand. Plus there is this annoying New Age theme going on: most places have "Do Not Disturb" signs. Theirs says, "Peace". They don't have just refreshments, they have items to "Refresh and Replenish". It's a DIET COKE for pete's sake!
They are renovating and the pool below our window looked extremely manky still. The view was of an airport runway. The only saving grace was that it was clean and that the banquet meals were extremely good.
As stated, this hotel is "ok"
Booked with points for 2 nights. Check-in was a breeze, got into the room, it was nice. Bed was ok, not "heavely" but not bad either (I am just spoiled). There was a huge lounge in the room which was comfortable. The minibar was stocked as was the goodie bar :) Not really a location that has a view, but on the 9th floor, I had a view of the airport, outside of the hotel and part of L.A.
The bathroom was clean but the hair dryer was filthy, I did not even want to pick it up. I have the same model, and just used mine. Thank God I brought it with me. I had to request more shampoo, conditioner etc. And there are no toothbrushes, toothpaste or QTips, so come prepared or be prepared to ask and possibly pay for them. The shower was nice, no bathrobes so I called for em to be brought up.
The food: Ok, some of the food is crap. Like the calamari, it is crap. The whole "sauce" they paired this over-battered (which they use cornmeal breading, which is horrid) critter with was pretty much like a tomato soup. It was really bad. The burgers are ok, but the high point for me would have to be the Cobb Salad. It is amazing. I have been to this location before and honestly in almost 2yrs that has not changed one bit.
The food is way overpriced, but hey it's a hotel. It's where they get ya!
Their breakfast was nice, the continental delux is decent, love their pastry. Coffee is Starbucks and they do provide it inroom for free, so save your money if you want coffee and just use the freebies instead of ordering a pot, cause you get about the same amount.
Check-out was just as easy as check-in. And that's the end my friends.

Just not good enough for the price level.
Stayed here for 8 days. The room is nice, and the bed was great! But for the price you pay to stay here, doesn't match what you get. Here are some sample costs: $7 for 15 minutes of internet use. $1 for 2 printed pages. $25 for moving something in their fridge (they have electronic detection, you Cannot store your own things in the fridge) $8 for a can of smoked almonds. Room service is wildly expensive. If you ordered something for $10 (and a simple breakfast is $20!) your bill would come to over $16 after applied gratuity, tax, and service charge. Front desk tried to give us 2 queen beds instead of the King that we paid for. I see from reviews this happened recently to someone else as well. The good things about it is that the room was quite clean, and the shower was decent. On our last night we got woken up by some alarm and a voice came on a speaker (in the ceiling by the bathroom) to tell us the Emergency Response team (SWAT?) had arrived and to stay in our rooms! This was at two in the morning and we had no idea what was happening. Eventually the voice came back and announced that everything was fine. Talk about unnerving!! They never explained what it was...
This hotel would be suited for a business traveller whose employer is footing the tab for everything. Anyone else should steer clear.
If you miss a connection at LAX or otherwise have a few hours to sleep before your flight, this isnt a completely terrible choice. Nothing special, nothing awful. They have a shuttle. Might rate a One Star but thats probably a reflection of the circumstances of the stay as opposed to the facts of the place. Three Stars.

This hotel is 'ok'
I've read the many complaints of the planes flying over, i am a hard sleeper so i only woke up once and that was to go to the bathroom. But, while dozing off i could hear a gentle rumble of the planes going to land, so it's not that big of a deal.
I like the beds, very clean linen smelling very good shape, the room has complimentary coffee and cups for you to make at no additional charge, just for preparation's sake, take some bottled water, the rooms are air conditioned for heat and cool but will be 'dry' so it'll make your throat dry :)
The water is hard, so when you shower and put soap to wipe off, it will feel as though you are rubbing on rubber.
I was checked in here because i was leaving for the military, and the military uses this hotel for their people ready to leave for boot camp, the breakfast buffet was ok, it's pretty standard just stay away from the ham :(.. the dinner buffet was really good, i liked the roast beef. It's a little tasteless, but nothing ketchup and pepper can't solve.
It's a pretty standard, economy hotel, don't expect too much, don't expect too little. The only reason i gave -2 stars was because i feel it's not the BEST ..but then again..it's not the worst and i spent 2 nights here with the same outcome.

I typically stay at Marriott chain of hotels, however from time to time, I'll venture out and try other hotels. I needed a hotel close to LAX for a wedding I was attending, so after some searching I reserved a room at Westin.
Parking is $18 per day. Check in was very simple and speedy. No free WiFi or Internet at the hotel, however they do have two computers by the elevators that you can use to check-in for your flight, its free. The room was spacious, two double beds, chair, desk with TV. The building is little older building, I think they upgraded, however you can tell that it's an older building. Oh, make sure you validate your parking pass so you can use it come and go from the parking lot on the days you are there. The only problem I had with the parking was, when I checked out, the gate would not let me out, so I had to go back inside and get a new ticket.
I heard some folks say the place is noisy due to the airplanes landing and taking off. To be honest, I hardly heard any plane noise in the room (stayed at 4th floor). Which was a plus, because after staying out late from the wedding, I needed my beauty sleep!! The workout room was right below me, so I did take advantage. They had more equipment then typical hotels, which was a plus. They also have a dry steam room, pool and a hot tub.
Service was great, housekeepers were very nice and professional. All the things I requested were delivered promptly and without any questions. If you are in LA area and need a place to stay, I would recommend this place.
The place is nice but there are hidden fees everywhere! Extra for parking, extra for a roll-away bed, extra for internet! I mean, come on, the internet should be available and around $30 a night for parking? ridiculous. the pool is also really disappointing.
As Westin's go, this one is a little below average. It has been around awhile, but has been spruced up in the typical Westin style of neutral colors between black and slate, with large lobbies with different textures.
Their is full service, i.e. valet, room service, etc. The parking is in the back for self park, and connects directly into the hotel with a separate elevator system.
The rooms are nothing special, a typical hotel room of this price and quality.
This Westin is the closest to the 405 freeway of all the major hotels on Century Boulevard, which include all major chains.
Typically, the Westin has rack rates in the $200 range, depending on season and events. You can get larger group rates as low as $100 for in-hotel conventions with a lot of rooms and meeting rooms booked.
The main bar when I was there was under staffed, no cocktail waitress and the bartenders that were working seemed more interested in flirting with women than pouring drinks and ringing up sales. After my first drink, I tried to get another for over 30 minutes, but nobody even looked my way. I left without paying for the first.

I say near the LAX area weekly for work.
My room was on the airport side of the hotel. Early AM jet noise made it impossible to try to sleep. The room, while large was dated and kind of run down. Lobby is code & uninviting and the restaurant is just average.
Can't recommend for a close to LAX airport stay.
I want to give this hotel a good review but I just can't.
Walk in to the hotel after parking my car.. nice lobby, check-in was fairly simple.. off to a good start. Self-parked my car instead of vallet. Cool. It was $18 a day to park my car.. at least it was cheaper than the Wilshire Grand.. $30 a day there.
Get into the room.. looks pretty nice. Had one of those 1 person couch things with a leg rest in front of it.. very nice and right in front of the TV.
The bed was decent.. way too hard for my tastes.
The room had NO WIRELESS INTERNET!! C'mon this is friggin LA!! I had to plug my laptop to the wire to get on the net.
Also the Internet did not even work when I got in my room! The cable modem was broken and it took them 30 minutes to replace it with aonther one.
Their hot tub was also broken.. their hotel operator didn't even know! I called to ask if they had one and they're like yeah we got one.. go downstairs and it's broken. Epic fail.
One of the vending machines also stole my dollar. Some nerve!!!
Overall the hotel is nice but horribly run. MIGHT stay here again.
At least the room had a cordless phone.. gee thanks guys.

When your co-worker from India is spending his last night in America, the only thing you can really do is to grant his last wishes 1) chauffeur him (the cheapskate wanted to keep his cab fare allowance) and 2) stand still when he hugs you really hard.
After errands galore, he wanted me to help him check in at the Westin AND go up to the room with him. To take pictures (#3). Cuz homeboy's got no camera and when he gets home, he needs to show the village how big his bed was.
The room is pretty big but it's not super nice. I agree that the view sucks (Starwood or no Starwood-preferred, it's still a crappy view on the 10th floor), and though the bed looks big as a King should be, I didn't get on it or in it to judge whether it is as heavenly as reviewed by the other person.
If I were my coworker, for $115+tax a night, I would rather sleep at the airport and save the money to buy a cow or moped when i get back in the village
see pics!

I love Westin hotels, and I would have to say that this is the worst of all the Westin's I have been to.
It has been over four years since the last time I came here. I was hoping for some sort of renovation or improvement. Well, I was wrong. The hotel has not changed in many years with the small exception of the Platinum Lounge just to the right of the Front Desk.
The only good thing about my recent stay was the upgrade I got. They gave me a one-bedroom suite but everything was just average if not boring.
When it was time for me to catch my flight back to Hawaii, I went to the front desk to checkout. As I walked toward the front desk, it was eerily vacant in the lobby and restaurant. I went to the Platinum Lounge and it was empty with the exception of a guest aimlessly walking around. No hotel staff to speak of.
I next went to the lobby bar that was also empty and no hotel staff working at the bar. It was about 3pm! Next, I went outside to catch the free-shuttle back to the airport. The valet was talking on his personal cell phone.
This hotel is a disappointment to the Westin name and the Starwood Hotel Program.
I will never stay here again. If you have to choose a hotel in the LAX area under the SPG Program, I would suggest the Sheraton Gateway. I know I will next time.
When you go to Los Angeles the problem is picking a hotel near where you are going to be at the most - since you want to avoid traveling on the freeways. When you are desperate you seem to make decisions that you would've never made if you weren't.
We needed a place to stay in LA, since LA is so spread out, maybe a place in the middle of the area would be good. Yeah, except it is located across the street from LAX.
"They are by an airport, of course they soundproof the windows..." - My friend who booked the room.
Our room was facing the runway of LAX. I saw a plane land every 3 minutes, and heard AND felt a plane take off every 3 minutes. Location is not the best thing going for this hotel.
Other than that issue, the Westin was average. The beds were okay, the room was a decent size, the price wasn't bad, just the location. They charged us for taking stuff out the mini-bar when we didn't even check-in yet, that was fixed by them taking off that charge and our parking. Nice.
If you like to see and hear planes take off every 3 minutes then this hotel is for you, if you want to relax and have a hotel situated somewhere else, then please look somewhere else. This is pretty much for business meetings, and not a place for you to enjoy Los Angeles on your vacation.

My friends and I stayed here on Jan. 24-26. It was our first time in LA and we thought the hotel was pretty decent. The beds were very comfortable and the staff was very nice. The room was clean and smelled great!
Now, the parking is ridiculous at $16.00 a day, and that's about the only bad thing I have to say about this place.
We ordered room service for breakfast and got the pancakes, hash browns and Belgian waffles. It was so tasty and fresh but a bit on the expensive side, about 50.00 for the above.
This has to be the worst Westin hotel ever under the chain. I transfered from the Westin in Times Square to the Westin at LAX and wow, what a shock! Self parking was a fair $18/day (typical for LAX area) and the lobby was amazing. That was the end of the great user experience.
The room was gross and looked more like something you would find at a low budget hotel. After falling asleep I wake up at say 7am to dogs barking relentlessly. What, I am in a hotel? Well after some investigation I learn that my hotel doesn't shut quite all the way and a dog kennel is right below our hotel room.
So that problem gets taken care of and we leave for the day. Upon return the same night I went for a swim. Ick, the pool is poorly managed, not cleaned and not properly treated. Go figure.....arrive back at my room and get ready to jump into bed and ICK, my sheets have a stain on them so I call for new sheets. I am dead tired and after waiting about 20 minutes I call again to no avail. I finally end up ripping the sheet off the bed, putting another blanket as a bottom cover and sleeping on that. Yea, what a way to treat a frequent traveler. Less we forget when the maid did some clean our room she like half did it. Didn't replace the mini bar or soaps but who needs that stuff at a hotel?
This hotel was definitely a frustrating experience and I will be going back to the Sheraton at LAX given the choice next time. All of the hotels are about as old as LAX in that general area so I know not to have my expectations held too high but this place was horrible. I couldn't of struck out on this trip hotel wise anymore. Zero for two! At least I have room for improvement next trip?
Like many others I will reiterate, you're getting what you pay for, if you use HotWire. My mystery hotel near LAX for $60/night was the Westin. I was pretty pleased, seeing as they charge over 100 a night if you just book through Westin. I think I would be much more harsh had a paid that much, because everything else is an extra charge. The room was ok. It was clean, had a really expensive minibar, and a really nice shower. The bed was not heavenly as they claim, but it wasn't the worst place I've ever slept either. The internet is 11 dollars for 24-hour access and my friend had homework to do so we had to pay, the parking is $18 a day and you need a car in LA so once again we were stuck paying. The hotel restaurant and bar are over priced but you really shouldn't be spending time there anyway. There is a really convenient shuttle to the airport but that's the only thing convenient location wise. I would honestly recommend getting a hotel near an area you want to spend time in, because there's nothing of interest around the airport.

Stayed here for $65/night before taxes etc thanks to priceline. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and courteous. The hotel was ok. Parts of it seemed a bit dirty for a 4 star hotel. When I say dirty I mean the floors didn't seem very clean. The self parking was straight forward and easy. I believe we paid $18 for each night w/ ins and outs. The rooms were nice, but the tv was old and our freakin remote broke after the first night! Would I stay here again? Its a big MAYBE...
When I arrived, I figured a beer would be perfect after I checked in. So I grabbed a beer at the lobby bar. My single bottle of Corona was $7.
I figured since I pay $10 to see a movie in the theater, what's another few dollars to watch it in my hotel room... I'm on vacay, I'll splurge on a $15 movie or two.
When they say the movie is $15, they really mean the movie is $33 after taxes, fees, and tariffs.
HBO-esque Rated R labeled as hardcore-XXX that you can't rewind. These I'm told, are $10 each.
The room was nice. It would have been nicer if I had a $4,700 hooker and skipped the movies and beer. Might have been cheaper...

Now I really enjoyed my stay here and I've stayed in all kinds of hotels from two star to five star. For $129/night, this place is great. There's a roof-top outdoor pool, a high-tech modern gym, a nice restaurant and a fun & lively bar. What more could you want?
The staff are friendly and helpful, but the rooms are dusty. Typically hotels clean your room from top to bottom on a daily basis including organize your stuff, but here, if your clothes were on the bed when they made it, you would find your clothes where you left them on top of a made bed.
The restaurant has really good food and is about average in price compared to other similar restaurants nearby (there aren't many), but avoid their breakfast buffet at all costs - not worth it at $21 per person. Instead, go to Denny's down the street - coffee & full breakfast for $10 (just don't look at the dusty window sills). There's sometimes a Starbucks coffee cart in the lobby, but it's gone after 10am. This was a real disappointment for coffee-lovers when we had a break during our seminar.
I had an issue with something on my bill and I didn't particularly like the attitude of the man at the service desk. He made it clear that I was wrong and not in a polite manner. Overall, though, the staff are friendly and helpful and do their best to ensure you enjoy your stay.
The location is pretty good. It's 15 mins to the airport on a free shuttle and there's a $3 trolley that takes you to Manhattan Beach, which is a MUST. There's a McDonald's with amazing salads for $5, a Subway, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell within walking distance. You'll have to rent a car to get anywhere else (take note that parking is $18/day and valet is $28). Don't eat at the Internet cafe, but if you need to use the Web, they charge $5 for 30mins versus $10/day at the hotel.
Definitely not the worst Westin out there (Westin Tysons Corner in DC is far worse), but definitely an old hotel where the cosmetic renovations can only go so far. I'd say it has its share of both Pros and Cons, but it shakes out as a good option for around LAX.
There are a couple cool things here. First, if you're on east coast time, make it down to the gym at 5:30 to watch the flights land as the sun rises. Way cool. Second, the bar has some pretty interesting characters on any given night, so definitely pay a visit. As a side note, I found the service to be overall very good, as long as you're a business traveler who's not too needy.
That said, the building is at least 30 years old at this point, and the rooms show it. The elevators were also in full revolt when I visited, so you had to budget and extra 3-5 minutes to get downstairs in the morning.
Rooms x16-32 Even and x53-81 odd look out on the runway. The views are pretty cool, but the planes can be noisy. Light sleepers beware!
All in all, not where I'd choose to stay if I was on vacation. But it's super-cheap, and right near where we needed to be for work. Plus, it's an airport hotel - were your expectations really that high anyway?
This hotel seems to bring out the best and worst in people. I've read reviews here and on Trip Advisor that would make me think I was staying at a Motel 6. Now, keep in mind I only paid 65 dollars a night for this on Priceline. Nevertheless, I arrived there with trepidation for a 3 night stay near LAX, and found that this place was really quite a comfy hotel and with a very convenient location. Even though we were not flying out of LAX, we found that it was easy to get just about anywhere (especially beach communities) from this location. Major interstates are right there, and the commute to downtown and West LA never took very long.
As for the hotel itself, the beds were indeed "heavenly" as advertised. If that isn't a soft bed, I don't know what is. We had read reviews stating that there is a dog pound or something nearby, so we requested to stay at the OTHER side of the hotel. Consider that my helpful tip to you, the wonderful reader. As long as you stay away from the dog barking side of the hotel....I think it's a really quiet place...I had no plane disruptions of my sleep at all.

The hotel kinda reminds me of a bank. Which I guess is fine since its mostly business travelers who are stopping over in LA overnight...
That was us... but on our way to Cabo. We mostly hung out at the bar and invited a cousin who lives in LA to hang out too. The waitress was nice but slow...
Sometime around 11:30.. the fire alarm went off. I must have heard the automated message thing at least 50 times before they shut it off. "May I have your attention please. May I have your attention please. blah blah blah blah"
It was some kid that opened the fire alarm - but it took about 30 minutes for them to turn off that awful alarm. By then my buzz was gone and my head hurt.
Good thing the beds at all Westins are damn comfy. I slept like a baby.

The only hotels that I stay at when I travel are Starwoods. This Westin is run down a bit but I have never had an issue with my room. I have elite status here and always stay on the preferred floors but never had an issue with cleanliness....and if I did I am sure the issue would be addressed. This hotel is your typical airport business hotel. The Sheraton down the street is a tad bit nicer which is odd since Westin chains should be above them. I give them 3 stars because I have never had an issue and always prompted service, but for a Westin it should go through an overhaul.
I know I'm staying by the airport, but I didn't realize how loud planes are going by at night.
Not to mention on the last night of my one week stay, the ceiling of my room (I was living on the top floor) started dripping. Fortunately there were two beds in my room, and I ended up sleeping on the other one.
The next morning I woke up and called the front desk. They gave me a discounted rate on my room, free breakfast, and offered to call me a shuttle to the airport. So I have to say they were apologetic about the incident - but still, there's no excuse for a westin to have a leaky ceiling.
Since I'm staying at the place on and off for the next two months, at least I'm collecting frequent points to stay. I wouldn't mind staying there again for work, but I would choose another hotel for vacation. It's a businessperson's hotel, not one you'd want to spend all weekend in.

I stayed for 2 nights for leisure.
For leisure, the hotel is not so great. There were business conventions or something going on late into the evening one night I was there. Some sort of Teen competition.
Also, the LAX area doesn't have anything of interest, really close by. It is necessary to have a car to go to a decent, area restaurant or shop. However, within view of the hotel there is a Subway, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut. If you are thinking-- YUCK-- i understand. That is the last thing I wanted to eat kicking off my vacation. If you exit the hotel and go left, there is a Denny's and a Carl Jr.' not far at all. This still isn't great food, but those are your LAX area options.
The room looked like it did in the photo. It was very nice. There were a couple of surprises that I loved. There was a fully stocked mini-bar with beer, wine, water, juice, and liquor. There was a snack tray with nuts, candy, more water. And what sent me over the top-- a simple white robe to use for my stay.
The view from my room was of the pool and of the planes landing at LAX. This was only my 3rd or so time staying at a nice hotel by myself. I'm never sure of how I will be treated because I don't make any effort to fit in with people who seem to make a great effort to look great and fit their surroundings. I am not a slob, but I leave the room in a t-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops. There was never an issue.
The gym was gorgeous. It felt really upscale. The pool area was stocked with towels.
I had to call the front desk for late check-out. Each time they answer the phone, they addressed me as Mr. 'lastname'. That is so smart. I really felt l was an important guest.
I did incur $25 in charges to my credit card, additional, that I had not planned for. I bought 2 days of internet. And then I requested a toothbrush and shaving cream and a razor that came to $8. My remote control did not work on my TV. I finally called the front desk, and a man knocked at my door 5 minutes later. He fixed the remote. Unfortunately, it stopped working just 5 minutes later. I just decided to forget it.
Overall, whenever I am in L.A., I can't imagine a hotel, near the airport, that will make my stay as enjoyable as the Westin LAX made mine. It is a great hotel.
I'm just a big fan of any Westin Hotel. So here I go again. I like this hotel as well. What can I say?
What old hotel? This hotel is grand and as pretty as I expect it to be. I stayed here for about 5 days and I was comfortable as you can when you are away from home. I must confess that the Long Beach location is far better than this when it comes to their bed. The bed is not as heavenly as they advertise them to be. I enjoyed the work out room and the little perks they give you as a SPG member.
Staff are helpful and very professional.
I paid 125+tax which is very good. Now the food is something else. Its pricey. For two glasses of red house wine, two glasses of mojito, crispy squid and a chicken ceasar salad without the tip will cost you about $100.00.
But it's the Westin and it's my favorite hotel. So unless they mess up really big time I will always go back to them anywhere in the world.
That said..I will be traveling again soon and I'm sure I will be staying at a different westin if I can help it.

Yuck. I will never stay here again.
The first room I got smelled like mold. I could feel the festering mold creeping up through the carpets. It was really gross. The room also had this awful smoke smell. Like cigarettes had been ground into the cracks and crevices of the the room. Ugh..so gross.
So I went down to the desk to ask for a second room. This second room had some what of a smoky smell but wasn't as bad as the first. The room was comparably cleaner to the other room. But not as clean as I've seen some other places. Really 4 stars, really does this hotel too much justice in my opinion.
So I go to inspect the bathroom, there is a huge rust stain in the tub and there is mold all over the shower. We were so tired at that point that it seemed kind of pointless to go ask for another room. So we took the lesser of the two evils and went on with life.
So I lived to tell about it, nothing scary jumping from behind the shower curtains and no weird noises coming from their other rooms. For this I give it the remaining two stars.

Crappy crappy hotel, especially for a Westin. I needed a hotel for the night near lax and thought this place was a great value... turns out it wasn't. I had a view of the LAX runway which meant very little sleep due to no soundproofing. The floor was dirty and unvaccumed and it was just a straight up ghetto Westin. There are a lot better hotels in the area and I would recommend going somewhere else instead of this dump.

Three stars from me. I was pleased with the $100 rate we got on Hotwire, and I have to say that the lobby area was nice. Our room was big and bright, and the bed was pretty comfortable. They also had really nice pillows and a nice, fluffy comforter. The place is in big need of renovation, though. It's funny, they mention in the elevators that they're upgrading those, but there's no mention about the rest of the hotel?
Anyway, some of our furniture was scratched, the towels were a bit rough, and the carpet was looking a bit old. But, for the bargain price we had, it was fine. I wouldn't be pleased if I'd paid full price for this place, though.
The restaurant was decent...not fantastic, but good. There also seemed to be one or two weddings going on at the hotel the weekend we were there, so maybe their ball rooms are really nice? In any event, if you book a room here, do it on either Hotowire or Priceline.
I was here for a conference last Saturday (1-24), and found it very nice for this purpose. Since I did not stay as a guest, I cannot respond to what the other Yelpers had to say. The decor was sleek and contemporary, pleasing even to me, a lover of old brick and brownstone buildings. The Charisma restaurant was satisfactory, though a bit overpriced (which might be expected for a hotel eatery, perhaps). The menu items were rather unremarkable, but their buffet was the redeeming factor, with its fresh watermelon and mini-cheesecake desserts. The exorbitant self-parking price was the final, and sour, note. I may as well have popped for the valet service.
The Westin at LAX is certainly a comfortable hotel. You can request pillows of different firmness and order in-room spa treatments. There is also a pool and a 24 hour gym. Room service was also very responsive. Shuttles to LAX leave every hour, 24/7.
Surprisingly for an airport hotel, there was no free Internet in the rooms. The $17 daily parking fee is also the highest I've paid at any hotel. The lobby, although very spacious, looks like it's from the 1980's with its dark colors. It looks like a set out of the first Die Hard movie!
Pro: Lots of in-room services available (for a fee). 24 hour gym and airport shuttle. Restaurant in lobby.
Con: Expensive to park. No free Internet in the rooms. No mini-fridge. Outdated decor.
