I grew up visiting my gramma in SD so staying in a hotel and doing the tourist stuff was very strange for me.. I've never noticed so many tourists before! I noticed a lot of young 20yr olds (and women pretending to be 20yr olds) from out of state, some even from out of the country, staying at the Westin.

Our room was clean and very spacious, but nothing out of the norm. The proximity of the Westin to Gaslamp and the Horton Plaza is convenient for those who don't want to drive and look for parking. Basically within walking distance of all the shopping and bars.

I have to say though, the valet guys have a je ne sais quoi dbag quality to them. We had dinner reservations and needed our car within 15 minutes which I think is reasonable. After 15 minutes of waiting, and watching the valet guys strut their stuff to ladies staying at the hotel, we walked up to the desk to ask where our car was. Oh snap, they forgot about us. One guy apologized and ran off to retrieve our car which thankfully came a minute later. The thing that's odd is that they saw us sitting on the bench waiting for our car. After 15 minutes, you'd think one of them would ask us if we needed any help. Also, when we first arrived, the older, head dbag took the car keys from me without much of a welcome and without explaining the valet rates. I knew ahead of time, but it'd be nice to be forewarned verbally of the $32 fee.

An okay experience, but I wouldn't stay here again. Oh and the mini-fridges don't keep things cold very well.

I'm giving two stars just for the location. I thought a hotel located in the Gaslamp would be much better, especially being a Westin. The hotels decor is old, I hated the lobby, the concierge staff was useless and the pool was just a joke. Don't believe what you see on the internet.

All I can say is DON'T STAY HERE. The room was beat up, furniture old and grungy and bathrooms are NOT heavenly. I am frequent Starwood guest and this hotel is just one big disappointment.

So I arrived here a few days ago and lucky I did a little research.  Parking is 36 dollars a night, it's very close to the Gaslamp District, the rooms are updated except for the bathroom.  Formica sink tops? Internet access for 9.95 a day, staff is friendly, it's a bit noisy but hey........you are in the heart of everything.

The amenities are ok.  The pool is a bit small.  We got updated to a suite because of my membership with Starwoods.  The suite is no different from the other rooms when I went to my friends room.

Overall, it is a decent hotel and they are not only friendly to us but to pets as well.  Yes....this is a pet friendly hotel.

Typical Westin but in a great location:

Stayed here multiple times recently either for free using points or because we found great rates on line. Location is very central and within easy walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go in downtown San Diego. The hotel was clean, modern and efficient - basically, your standard relatively upscale Westin. Valet parking was expensive but we found a lot a block away where we could park for half the price.

This Westin has some good things going for it. Location, number one. It's about seven blocks away to the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter, and about a 10-15 minute drive to the zoo and Sea World. Their much-hyped beds were comfy enough, though it seemed a little small to call it a king.

Now, the not-so-great things about the Westin. It's a good thing that the hotel is as far from the nightlife as it is because the windows didn't seem to be that thick (a common complaint for Gaslamp hotels, I've found). You can pretty much count on getting woken up by sirens in the middle of the night. (And not the sexy evil mermaid sirens of Homer either...that would have been much more interesting.)

Also, something was up with the hot water heater. It sounded like the shower was connected to a jackhammer. Very loud! There's a $15 overnight parking lot across the street (where you have to be out by noon). That's probably your best option as the hotel's valet is something like 30 clams. Yikes!

All in all The Westin was fine and served its purpose, but as we walked by The Sofia hotel, which has a slightly better location, a restaurant on site, nicer look and, hey, a better Yelp rating, I'd kind of wished we'd stayed there instead.

miniature westin in comparison...smaller rooms, but same westin heavenly bed...decent gym for traveling workout...few machines needing repairs....trial on stairmaster machine and finding a workout liking....small pool for lounging, but little sun from highrise shading....downstairs lobby and no bar for relaxing....decent stay for somber sleep...

Fairly typical sanitized corporate-friendly hotel with a great location. You can walk to anything in the Gaslamp Quarter, the Horton Plaza, and the Convention Center. They have all that stuff a business traveler would appreciate, like Internet access, a Starbucks, a bar, a (pricey) restaurant with long hours, valet, concierge, etc. It's got a nice, simple, modernish feeling that's meant to be "heavenly" or something relaxing. It's a good place to have meetings and stuff, but if I was traveling for fun I'd probably pick a place with more personality and a lower price. Oh yeah, the pool and whirlpool are a lot smaller than they look in the pics. Avoid the restaurant unless someone is picking up your tab. I paid $15 for an omelet. There's always some kind of company meeting brunch/lunch here, so get your nice clothes on, shake some hands and help yourself to THAT food. ;-) They know how to do a buffet.

I stayed here for a conference that was not being held at the Westin.  I took the train down and was really happy about how easy it was to walk to the hotel (about a half mile).  The hotel was clean. My room was big and had a great view. I loved how convenient it was to other locations...restaurants, shopping, the trolley.  Great walking areas right near the hotel.  I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I never heard people in the hallways and I never heard doors slam when I was in my room. It was so quiet and I got great sleep.  I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Great location (right by all the restaurants and nightlife in Gaslamp), good  service, clean rooms, nice decor, comfy beds, nice lobby and bar/lounge area, and the place smells yummy (kinda like Mandalay Bay)!

The concierge helped us get on the VIP list for various clubs in the Gaslamp area and the valet and bellboys were very helpful and friendly.

The location is also great because it's right next to a mall with a Macy's, Nordstrom and several other clothing stores.

The only thing I'd complain about is the room service we ordered around 2am--the food kind of sucked and it was really expensive considering it didn't taste very good (about $50 for a sad cobb salad, grapefruit juice and tortilla roll up turkey sandwich). I've ordered room service at the same time at the Westin in SF and the food was much better.

While I love the Westin chain and especially the oh-so-devine Heavenly Bed, this location left something to be desired.  The room (on the Preferred 15th floor) while updated seemed a little bit tired - lacking the attention to detail on the cleaning like I am used to at other Westins I have visited.  The walls are pretty thin - I could hear everything going on in the hallway outside.  What really did it for me was when I opened the cabinet that housed the mini-fridge, there was a 1/2 case of leftover beer from the previous guest and (ick!) a bag containing what I can only guess (from the smell) was some leftover meal.  GROSS!!!  Redeemed to 3 stars for the great location in the Gaslamp District and for the Heavenly Bed.  Otherwise...

I am giving this hotel four stars in a kind of "you get what you pay for" kind of way. It sounds like several people that have posted were pissed off that this was not the Four Seasons - which it is definitely not. But the Four Seasons doesn't cost 140 a night either.

The location of this hotel is great is you want to be centrally located to the main things - downtown, gaslamp, old town, beaches, etc. Yes, the parking is expensive (but it's the same at every hotel downtown) but you can check your car in and out as much as you like, and the hotel is within walking distance of everything you need.

The room was fine. We had no problem with noise, and everything was is reasonably good condition. The bed was great. The hotel amenities are also decent. The pool was nice and there is a little workout room with cardio and a few free weights. The hotel itself seemed very clean and well-kept.

The two things I did not like about this hotel was the fact that they charge for every little (but this is becoming more common everywhere) and that the restaurant was totally overpriced for the setting and food they offered. There are only about a million great places to eat around the hotel, so don't waste your money.

DO NOT STAY HERE.  Although I got a great, last minute rate on http://Hotels.com...this hotel was NOT worth it.  They only do valet parking and it was $32.00 a night.  Ouch.  Upon walking into the hotel, you are immediately impressed.  It looks so nice.

The rooms weren't impressive AT ALL...especially for being a "Westin".  The room smelled like feet.  The beds were not that "heavenly" at all.  One of our towels in the bathroom was filthy.  The shower wasn't that impressive at all and the shower curtain was dirty.  Internet service was $10.99/day.   And the VERY loud guests down our hall sucked.  It was so great to hear, "Chug! Chug! Chug! Chug! Yeah!" over and over again while we tried to sleep.  And to repeatedly hear a women screaming laughing was a blast.  The hotel had the AUDACITY  to call our room at 2:30am asking, "Is your room ok?  Are people being loud down the hall?"  Why on earth would you call a room at 2:30am to see if it was loud on our floor?  I hadn't even called down to complain.  Why not just send someone up to check it out?  Several other guests apparently had a less than stellar experience like ours as they were complaining about the noise to the front desk this morning.  The woman at the desk said she couldn't do anything for us since we booked our room through http://hotels.com.  She didn't even offer to give us a discount or take off the cost of our parking.

The location of the hotel is fantastic b/c it's right next to the Gaslamp District, but get a room somewhere else!  There's also a Jamba Juice, Starbucks and Mall right next door.  However, I will not be back to the Westin EVER AGAIN.

The hotel is in the heart of Gaslamp.  Lovely place.  It is so close to everything.  It is in horton Plaza so the mall is a hop, skip, and a jump away.  The service was great.  The lobby was clean and the room was clean.  I can't complain about this hotel.  The service was impecable and the people are so friendly.

The room temp was hard to work with though.  We couldn't get the air to turn on.  It was so warm in the room.  That was basically the only flaw.  I love the Starwood hotels so I was not dissapointed at all.

My favorite part of staying here this weekend was the bar.  It's the centerpiece of the lobby.  You walk in and you're staring at it.  Check in is to the right and out of sight.  Drinks were pricey, around $12 each, but very stiff and well made.  My girlfriend raved about the cocktail onions in her gibson.  The bartender was also very cool.  What was not cool was the valet service.  Granted, we were trying to leave at the same time as everyone else (around noon on Sunday) but we called ahead to have them bring the car around so I fail to understand why it still took more than 1/2 hour after we got downstairs for the valets to get our car out.  BTW, to avoid this problem, park at the self-park around the corner for $10 instead of paying the $32 valet charge.  You will not need your car if you stay in the Gaslamp quarter and honestly, if you're just there to party for the weekend, you will not end up going any place other than Gaslamp and you are walking distance to good food and drinks (even if you elect to drink someplace other than the hotel bar.)  The only other thing that disappointed me about Westin Gaslamp was the pool.  It was small and unimpressive for a hotel of this stature.  Plus, to get a drink at the pool, you have to use this crappy old phone in a box to order them and it took 35 min for them to bring them out.  Other than that, I can't say a bad thing about the place.

Things I was pleasantly surprised by about this Westin were:

1) Apparently the walls between guest rooms are super thick or very well insulated because we never heard a peep from adjoining rooms (which I know were occupied because I saw the cleaning staff going through them) and my monkey friends got pretty drunk and crazy on Saturday night and I got no complaints (room was in my name)

2) This hotel allows dogs!

3) The work-out room is huge for a hotel.  They had 4 or 5 treadmills plus a couple of elliptical machines.  FYI, only the treadmills on the far end have HBO.  There were also some weights, plenty of mats, and one of those giant balls people do sit ups on.  The ball was sad looking though because it was half-deflated.

4) The hot tub is open 24 hours!

5) The concierge was very knowledgeable.  He recommended a great dim sum place (Emerald) for us!

Definitely worth the money, if you have it to spend these days, or do like me and convince a couple of friends to come along but if you do, try not to let them get so drunk in the Gaslamp that they follow-up a midnight dip in the hot tub with a trip to the hotel bar in their still-wet board shorts and bikinis.  Yep, we are a classy bunch.

Blech, this Westin needs some TLC.  The lobby was nice, in fact, all the common areas were nice.  The rooms just felt really tired though.  Scraped, and scratched and greasy and just kind of old.  Clean enough, yes, and the service seemed good, aside from not fully replenishing the little coffee maker area.  The lobby bar was only stocked during the Westin "unwind" hour or whatever the hell it is, and even then, woefully so.  I never saw more than five people there, and being so open and well lit, it wasn't anywhere you were drawn to.  It was almost a diorama display of hotel guests, built for a fifth grade school project.
It was an okay stay, in a very convenient location, but nothing worth remembering or experiencing again.

Okay I went during Comic-con and this place totally blew! They are so incompetent and retarded.  The parking situation is horrendous and unorganized.  I will say that the people who take your car are pretty friendly, but other than that.  It sucked! I am being kind to even give it 2 Stars! The 1 extra star is for the parking people.

The hotel is not dirty or anything.  The walls are super thin and crappy! You can hear people talk outside and we had the corner room.  I don't mind the people outside but the stupid people next to us called and complained about our noise.  It was my Mom, my Sister, and me.  We are NOT noisy and we were just talking about how we drove here and nothing more.  Apparently they thought we were loud?  Are the walls paper thin?  We weren't having an excited talk or yelling and they called to complain.  We think they heard the people outside and thought it was us?  Either way what crap! And you know for a room during Comic-con can cost you an arm and a leg.  With this kind of crap I'd rather not stay here!

They are also retarded.  I called the front desk or concierge and asked for my friend's room.  She told me she would be in the Westin at the Gas Lamp and I was like OMG me too.  I was in Vegas earlier that day so I didn't know what room she had checked into that morning or the night before.  I call and they tell me that no such person is staying here.  I asked them to check again and yet again they said no.  So I just gave up.  I called her cell, but she didn't pick up.  Luckily she called me back the next day and guess where she was staying! In the FREAKING SAME CRAPPY HOTEL! BOO TO THEM!

The Westin is the best!!!  I'm a Gold SPG member and I just love staying at the Westin. They make you feel welcomed from the moment you pull up. And since they are located right next to Horton Plaza I have to give them a thumbs up.
The rooms are always nice and clean, and they make sure your happy. On our last visit they were doing some A/C repairs and my room heated up and I called the front desk and within minutes they moved my room and took care of all my stuff.
Everything is modern, you don't have to worry about staying in an older run down room. The employees are always so helpful, they even told me about the greatest shopping outlets ever!! Las America's..it sits on the US/Mexico border but it is only 15 minutes from the hotel.

If you have to go to SD rather it's business or pleasure check out the Westin, you won't be disappointed.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. You can't get any closer to all the "happenings" of downtown San Diego then this place. The hotel is very nice and close to everything. My girlfriends and I stayed here for 2 days for a bachelorette party weekend and we never had to take a taxi anywhere. The beds are super comfortable too! The staff is super polite and the nice man that helped us up with all our luggage was so warm, nice and helpful! I would highly recommend this hotel for our stay in San Diego. I will definitely be back in the future.

W was booked because of the invasion of the pot-bellied men wearing golf shirts (US Open) so I ended up at this hotel, which turned out to be a better location for me since I was alone in the evening.

Horton plaza is around the corner and the Gaslamp district is down the block, accesible to the beach and public transit.

If you stay here you can do a lot without a car.

The lobby was beautiful, bar looked nice (didn't go there) the rooms are spacious, well decorated and clean.  There's enough seating so you can have traveling companions in your room without making someone sit in the bed.

If the pillow were more comfy and the comforter were more fluffly like the W I'd give it 5 stars.

When you walk in the foyer, you wander into a marble wonderland and think your room will be as palatial.

You walk through the maze of rooms (seriously, I got lost almost every time) after talking the slowest elevators in the world, and you'll wonder if you're in the same hotel.  I mean the rooms were clean, somewhat spacious, and modern...but just okay.  The heavenly bed wasn't so great either, and the pillows sucked.  I do however enjoy their dual shower head.  Gym is pretty small but they have the circuit tv's to keep you occupied.

Good location since you're next to Horton Plaza (okay, not special) for some necessary shopping if you're bored.  During the holidays the ice skating rink is right across the street.

Not so great. Granted I did get the room for 150 a night on Priceline BUT it's supposed to be a four star... I am not picky but c'mon people. It was loud, the room was never cleaned so I had to request towels, the TV satellite was not working- which SUCKS when you're trying to watch Dateline...and the room service food did not look appetizing at all (so we didn't order any).
Next time I'll go somewhere else.

The lobby was nice but once you get to the rooms, it's disappointing.  I was really excited to try their Heavenly Bed, but the bed wasn't as comfortable as I would have liked.  I didn't understand what all the hype was about.  I did like their pillows though.

I was expecting this hotel to be really clean, nice, and comfortable, but was let down.  The thing that I did like about this hotel was the fact that it allowed us to take our puppy and it had a bar downstairs.  The lobby is very nice and clean but the rest isn't anything special.  The staff wasn't very nice either.

When walking around, we saw the other Westin hotel that is closer to the mall and Gaslamp Quarter and is MUCH nicer.  Next time I'll stay there.

First of all, let me underscore how awful the elevators are.  When you check in, they do let you know that they are undergoing renovations, and that you would have to wait "a few additional moments."  Try 15 extra minutes!

If you are staying here anytime time in the near future, I would ask for a room on one of the lower floors so you can take the stairs.  However, I've heard that the stairwell doesn't connect to the lobby, but instead exits to the street.

The rooms are tastefully furnished, like any other Westin room.  They have flat screen TV's, but lack a great selection of channels.  The gym does have individual TV's at the cardio stations, which cannot be said of the Westin San Diego two blocks away (they were broken and the gym there is much smaller).

Excellent location, clean rooms, and good service would make me come again.  Maybe then I'd give it an extra star if the elevators are fixed.

I love the Westin!  Any hotel that caters to me and my pooch gets 5 stars in my book.

We decided to take a road trip with the pup to San Diego to visit some friends for the weekend.  I remembered that the Westin was dog friendly, so I happily booked our room for the weekend.  When we arrived, we were so pleased by the reception we received.  I must say that I think our dog was spoiled more than we were - he was fawned over by most of the hotel staff we encountered!  Unusual considering he's a pitbull and most people are not too receptive to the breed (but he is awfully cute and charming!!).

Our room was beautiful!  One of my favorite features to the Westin is their Heavenly Bed.  If you've never had the pleasure to sleep in one, run out now and book a room - it's truly heavenly!!  Even the pup was lucky to have a Heavenly bed to sleep in - the hotel provided his own Heavenly Dog Bed!

On top of the cute dog bed, the Westin also provided dog bowls, treats & poopy bags.  Unlike a lot of other hotels, they do not charge an additional fee for dogs, or a deposit.  I know other hotels will charge up to $25 additional a day or a non-refundable deposit.

The Westin Horton Plaza is in walking distance to the Gaslamp Quarter and a short drive to the beach.  Super friendly staff, brilliantly clean and maintained grounds, comfy spacious rooms and dog friendly to boot.  You can be sure I'll be back for my next visit to San Diego!!

Would have been four stars...it's in a central location, but not central enough to walk out and see bums sleeping right outside (you have to go a couple blocks away to see that).

The room was appointed nicely and the bed was comfy, but man there is little sound deadening material.  Bring earplugs...esp. if you're staying on the weekend.  If you have frisky neighbors, you're in for some free auditory porn--which may be a good thing for you if you're frisky, too, because there is no wireless internet access and plug-in ethernet access cost 10 bucks.  F That.  Additionally, if you want to watch HBO or even the Discovery channel you gotta pay, sucka.  Even at cheap ass motels you get HBO for free.  WTF?  The front desk line takes FOREVER and the elevators suck (what eve happened to having an elevator waiting, open, at the lobby?  Instead it's a press the button and wait affair.  Give me some stairs, please.

I checked in my bags after I checked out (they were cool enough to give me a 1:30 checkout).  When I returned there were--and I'm not exaggerating--at least 35 people crowded around waiting for an elevator.  And it took--no exaggeration--15 min. before someone was un-busy enough to walk to the closet and get my bag.  I have no idea how the staff stays so friendly seeing as though they're seriously short on employees.

Oh and the toilets spit all over the place when you flush.  I'd stay elsewhere if I was you.

I visited this hotel on a recent visit and found myself paying about twice as much as I should have due to a late booking.  I also found myself with two twin beds instead of the king I'd requested.  Very sad.

Still, the room was well appointed (if a little small) and everything worked.  Everyone was very pleasant and helpful.  All in all, a pretty positive experience despite the exceptionally expensive stay.  : )

Great stay at the Westin despite our concerns over bad reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor.

We got this room on Priceline and were extremely nervous about the condition of our room - but were pleasantly surprised to find our room was nice and clean. The bathroom was well equipped and appeared to be recently remodeled. Each room has a microwave, fridge and organized work area.  Great location near Gaslamp Quarter and nice pool and spa area. Elevators do suck though...extremely slow.

Overall I would recommend this hotel.

I spent Valentine's Day night at this Westin and must say that it was not one of my favorite Starwood experiences.  At first glance, this Westin looks like most other newly renovated Starwood properties with its post-modern furniture, flat panel TV's, and 'heavenly' amenities.  However, scratching the surface of just about anything here reveals that it is total crap for the price you are paying.  I was staying with my wife on the top (16th) floor, which can tell you a lot about a property due to the engineering involved in the upper floors of tall buildings.  First off, the water pressure in the shower on this floor was horrible.  Since it barely got going in general, I dared not test any of the massage settings.  The toilet was the same, holding down the handle for ten seconds was barely enough to get it to flush.  Our room was in average condition, with nicks, dings, and scratches on just about all of the furniture.  The thermostat was in an odd place by the window, obstructed from reach by a day-bed chair thing.  Trying to use it to cool the room had much less effect than simply cracking the window open.  The television, despite being a new HD model, only got a handful of analog channels with heavy static.

The worst thing though was the lack of soundproofing between the rooms.  As Valentine's wedding revelers gathered next door after midnight for a little after-party, the wall between our two rooms could not have been more useless.  At least the bed was reasonably comfortable for the few hours of sleep we got.

The rest of the hotel gave me roughly the same impression, a cheap hasty renovation resulting in the illusion of quality.  $30 for overnight parking seemed excessive.

The best part of our stay was the staff.  They were courteous and friendly and went out of their way for us.  At one point in the evening my wife spilled a drink in the lounge, and a staff member who just happened to be passing by immediately came to assist us.  His hospitality alone made our stay at least five percent more enjoyable.

Stayed here over the weekend (2nd visit)

Not much too say. It was clean, staff was friendly, valet was always nice and helpful.

Elevators were SLOW (but they're being upgraded).

Rooms clean, turn-down service is nice.

Central location. Connected to Horton Plaza.

Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is the very definition of mediocre.  The rooms are decent, and I have only good things to say about the various bars and restaurants, the rest leaves a lot to be desired.

When the hotel is busy (any weekend), the elevators routinely take 15 minutes to arrive at your floor, only to be completely full.  On more than one occasion I took the stairs and I was staying on a very high floor.

Upon driving up to the hotel to check in, resulted in a 10 minute wait (the hotel was not busy at this time) to get the valet to take my car.  Mind you the valet fee is $25.  If you want your car back, you'd best be prepared to wait 15-25 minutes.  The valet staff is inattentive, at best.

When I arrived at the front desk to check-in, the hotel clerk had attitude.  I can only assume that this was due to the late hour (around 10:30PM).

Room service was delivered promptly, but they forgot my toast and my wife's toast.  15 minutes later the staff member returned with toast, but they brought only a single order of toast (we ordered two).  For this I pay a mandatory 18% gratuity.

To summarize, this is a lovely hotel, in the heart of the San Diego Gaslamp quarter but the service is 3rd rate.  I call it a Holiday Inn masquerading as a Westin.

I will not stay here again.

Westin, you loved our Yorkie and we loved your service. We spend a short vacation in San Diego and decided to try the Westin, since it allows pets.

location, location, location. Its right next door to Horton Plaza, (my wife liked that part) and its right along the downtown nightlife and food of the Gaslamp. This place is near just about everything you would want. If you want to see the famous zoo and sea world, well then this is a short drive away. The place seemed to be crawling with business people attending conferences and seminars that were taking place on the 2nd and 3rd floor.

Upon arriving and checking in, fast and easy. They asked if we would like a bed and bowls for our pup. Sure why not right? they dog got a heavenly dog bed...but he just slept on the bed with us go figure. The bowls were stainless steel and had a fitted mat. perfect! I said heavenly bed right? jeeze these beds are not made for people who have a schedule to wake up to. I mean it, The beds are awesome! Everyone we met who worked there were great. The bathroom was ok, nothing great, except for the dual shower head which created a rain like feel.

Now the Bad...There were mysterious satins in the floor. It wasn't our dog I swear, and he didn't add to the ones that were there. no smell or feel, but definitely visible. Also a neighboring room decided to continue their party until 3am. A quick dial to the service button and a complaint ended that quickly though.

CN: Great service, nice rooms (except stains), great bed! great location, and a decent bathroom.

Talk about turning a corner.  I have seen some great changes at this hotel.  I stay in San Diego often for work and if given the choice will stay at the W.  Unfortunately, getting a Gov rate room during season can be hard at the W.  As a result, the Westin Horton Plaza is my back up choice.

Over the last three or four months things have really improved.  The rooms seem cleaner, they seem to be finishing the elevator renovation, and the staff has gone from bland to electric.

My most recent stay was a revelation.  They checked my in at the Platinum Concierge desk, they sent up something to drink, and in general made me feel like the rock star I wish I was.

Great experience.  Good hotel (I would give the hotel five stars, but with only six suites I never get upgraded to a suite).

The only reason I am giving it a 4 star rating and not 5 is because our carpet was filthy.  Other than that it was great. Oh yeah, the elevators are sssllooow. You are better off taking the stairs or sleeping in the lounge. They received our baby ( 11lb Yorkie) wonderfully. They brought up a heavenly bed for him, which he didn't use beacuse he sleeps on the bed with us, and food bowls. The room size was decent. we were on the 16th floor  for starwood preferred guests. The bathroom was nice, nothing fancy. One thing I appreciated was that the fan was not super loud. I was able to sleep in peace! A+ for that. You should be warned that those "HEAVENLY"  BEDS are evil! They will lull you into staying in bed all day. You have to have a plan on getting up successfully in the morning. They are just too heavenly.Sigh. I miss that bed.

Tips: Order breakfast. you will get one heck of a meal. We would get the one where you get hash potatoes with your choice of eggs, meats, breads, drink and beverage. We got scrambled eggs, with sausage- huge sausages they give you two! Wheat toast, orange juice and coffee. You will not be disappointed. You just fill out the form and leave it on your door knob before midnight and they will bring you your food at the time you choose.

The last night we were there our neighbors decided to bring the club along with them at 1:40 in the AM! We finall called the front desk, an hour later, and they quickly sent security up. Problem solved.

All in all: nice place for you, your dog and mate. Great for shopping, night life and is a great place for you to fall in love with a bed. A heavenly bed. One that I will greatly miss.

This hotel is just okay.  I have stayed here several times and the rooms are decent, standard Westin quality, however, I think the hotel is in need of a renovation.

They have renovated the lobby area overall the last couple of years, but the rooms need a little attention.

Now, the rooms are not bad, I really did not notice anything terribly wrong with them, I just feel that some of the furnishings are a little worn, and this particular Westin needs to get the flat screen t.v.'s!

They do have a nice gym complete with their "Heavenly Shower" in the restroom.  The pool is a decent size and good for lap swimming if not too busy.  The hot tub is inside near the gym and is big enough for about six adults.  They are currently renovating the pool and hot tub right now so they should look better once done.

The hotel has a Starbuck's and a restaurant that is only open for breakfast.  They have a sport's bar that was recently renovated and they serve standard bar food but with a more upscale price tag.  The food is decent.

Overall, I do like this hotel.  It is convenient and much closer to the Gaslamp area and mall than the other Westin just down the road.

Maybe it was love in the air... lol.. but honestly I loved this place. My bf and I spent our anniversary here. We had a nice experience. The staff was very nice and helpful; and also upgraded our room for free. It's really convenient as well because it's right next to the shopping mall and all the restaurants and bars. Everything was just perfect this weekend. We would most definitely come back again.

It's a nice hotel in a perfect location. the flower arrangements are gorgeous so please take notice. The decor is nice, a bit boring but I guess you have to be safe in a hotel because of the huge demographic you are trying to appeal to. That considered everything was very pretty, I wanted to take the bedding home with me! I loooove their shower heads. There are two that you get to move around for optimum comfort. They upgraded us to a luxury suite b/c they had extra room and brought a free cheese and cracker plate along with a bottle of wine on our second night which was a pleasant surprise. Two complaints and two complaints only; valet parking ONLY (bleh) and the pool is waaaay too small. It was a little expensive for what it was but I'm still happy!
