I have lowered my rating for this hotel because of my last three trips in the past month here.
There have been several issues that the management should have been on top of and made guests aware but they did not do so. I understand that they were under a lot of pressure with the re-grand opening after the remodel but that is no excuse for making guests uncomfortable. In my communications with the General Manager, he was professional and apologetic. He also remedied the situations quickly. I appreciate him doing so but still leaves a sour feeling for the hotel after spending so much time here.
Also, last night I became trapped in one of the elevators. It would not respond to any button commands or open the doors. I pressed the call button and it took several minutes before connecting to an operator. Eventually it became operational again after some effort on my and the hotel staff's part.

Tried for the 1st time 11/04 evening. Knew the mgr from Kenny's Wood Fired Grill , one of my favs. Service was OK Had to ask for refills on just abot everything including wine @ $14/glass!. Had beet salad with goat cheese, but forgot the cheese & never sent when mentioned. Food seemed overly salty & a bit overdone. had Flat bread & calamari for appetizers, Calamari was obviously ready way before the flatbread as it was room temp, but good. Flat bread was packaged . Served a pallet cleansert before the meal that was a cross between dish water & boile dirty socks! Will not return any time soon!
So hubby decided to surprise me and whisk me away for our 5-year anniversary by going to Acapulco. Can I get a whoop-whoop? So we decided (okay, HE decided) to catch the Roger Waters (AKA Pink Floyd) concert in Dallas en route to tequila town, so that's why I'm in Dallas for the night. Anyhoo, so here I am, staying at the Westin Galleria.
As we pulled up to the hotel, hubby told me, "You are gonna love this...the hotel is connected to a MALL." HELLO? This hotel-within-a-mall concept is SHEER GENIUS. The nanosecond we checked in, I didn't even care to decipher the linen's thread count and investigate the cleanliness levels of the bathroom. Why, you ask? I had more important matters at hand -- like checking out Saks and Forever 21 (yeah, the mall is quite a hodge podge -- there's a Versace boutique across from a Bath & Body Works). OK, so I got my shopping on and once I was pooped, I happily walked to my hotel room.
Yeah, okay, I'll talk about the room now...sheets are indeed yummy, bathroom is VERY clean and the decor is contemporary. Flat-screen TVs, wireless Internet ($11 bucks a day), and in-room spa services are also nice touches.
I'd give this place five stars for the whole conveniently-located-inside-a-kickass-mall factor but there aren't any safes or mini bars in the room. Oh well, nobody's perfect...but this place is pretty darn close.
