45 reviews for The Westin Copley Place
I got this hotel a while back through Hotwire. So I only paid like $170 in the middle of summer. The room was clean and the bed so comfy! It had a great view of the city. If I'm able to see the Red Line cross the bridge from my room, I'd say that's a pretty good view!
The staff was very courteous and since our room wasn't ready when we arrived, I managed to negotiate a queen and a roll-away instead of a king. This turned out to be super helpful since we were having 3 people in the room.
Plus it's in a super convenient location. I'd recommend to anyone coming to Boston. However, it's slightly out of the major touristy area, so if you don't know anything about the area, you'll have to get directions to Faniuel Hall, the Common, the North End, etc.
Ring... Ring... Ring... Ring... That's the sound coming from the front door of my room. You see, they have this employee/service phone mounted on the wall between two rooms periodically in the halls. In the middle of the day one of the employees with an island accent (Jamaica?) was screaming into it, either chewing out someone or being chewed out. On other occasions the damn phone would just ring off the hook with nobody answering it. Did I mention that this occurred when I was trying to nap during the day to recover from some of my jet lag and 3 hour timezone change?
The staff in the taxi dropoff/pickup area did a poor job as well. While it's nice that a guy slipped him a $20 to park his car there for awhile, it really screwed things up when cars could not pull forward, including my taxi while the meter had started running. Learn to use that whistle for more than just hailing the next cab!
Rooms were overpriced for what they offer. They were modest/small rooms with slightly updated bathrooms. A/C doesn't work very well, and the seal on my door was so poor that I didn't need to bother to turn on a light when getting up in the middle of the night because so much of the hallway light shined through the crack into my room.
A lot of noise comes into the room from adjacent rooms and rooms above you. If you're lucky and have quiet or no neighbors then everything is fine, but I was unlucky on a few of my nights.
Layout is abnormal and somewhat annoying. There's no front desk upon entering ANY of the entrances. You have to go up one escalator and/or stairs, depending on the entrance. There's just no traditional big lobby that nearly all hotels have.
Location in Copley Square is excellent though, including easy access to the green and orange lines.
Room service, front desk, and concierge service were all quite good though (hence 2 stars instead of just 1).

Great hotel, rooms are spacious and kept very clean. I do like that you have the option of reducing towel changes and turnover for a "green" effort that gets you SPG points.
Elevators are quick with a good number of elevators. I did not have to wait more then a couple of minutes for an elevator even at rush time for convention starts.
Hotel staff was helpful and always pleasant whenever there were questions.
Wireless internet, while not free, was quick and easy to connect to. I would stay here again. There are several land bridges that are enclosed connecting the Westin to the Marriott, Sheraton, and the Copley Place mall which must be a big bonus in the winter.
I expected more out of Westin. The people were nice enough but my room was old and showed signs of it. My carpet had a big patch in the middle of the room right in between the bed and the TV that was an obvious different shade from the rest of the carpet. The bathroom showed signs of wear and tear, my bathroom door was chipped, the granite counter top seams were coming apart as were the tile seams in the shower.
The bed and linen were very nice as has been my experience at all Westins. The main lamp the light bulb didn't work.
I was somewhat disappointed this Westin (mainly my room).
At least they have free internet in the lobby. That counts for some points. (Only reason why I gave them 3 instead of 2 stars) I hate it when hotels nickel and dime you with exorbitant internet fees.
Nice hotel. A bit impersonal overall but the staff found and returned an item of mine long after I'd checked out. Kudos to the people involved. As one reviewer noted higher floors are better. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Central location makes it ideal.
This place was great!
I made my reservation a few months prior and they were able to accommodate me and my well trained dog who was twenty pounds over their suggested maximum weight.
The check in was speedy and the people at the reception desk were incredibly nice and welcoming.
The room was about what you should expect, nice layout and very comfy beds. Since they knew I had my dog with me they provided a place mat, bowls, and a big super clean dog bed.
I'd definitely stay here again.
Nice hotel, close to Back Bay station and a huge mall. The front desk service was a little slow, but it was a crowded week when I was there. The rooms were clean, but stay on a higher floor because the lobby gets loud.

We have been staying at the Westin at Copley for a night or two every year for the past 4 - 5 years. The rooms are standard, nothing too special, but always clean and good enough for what they are there for. We do really love the "heavenly beds" - very, very comfy! We like this place because of its great location, attached to Copley Place and the Prudential Center, and basically right on top of a Green Line T station. Very convenient all the way around.
It's not cheap, but what hotel in the middle of Boston is? The service has always been good every time we've been. We'll definitely keep on using this place whenever we overnight in Boston.

I should probably make a list of all the Westins I've stayed at. Most Westins are the same to me and I think that's why I love them. I always know I'll be getting the same Heavenly bed, I always expect a nice gym with clean and new equipment, and I can always expect to be ripped off and have to pay $20 per day for valet parking. Being in downtown Boston, this Westin charged $30/day!
That said, the Westin Copley Place has excellent location being attached to Copley mall. It's all about location!

Standard Westin hotel, not blazing any trails here. Decent rooms, standard size, getting somewhat worn and should be updated soon. Public areas are well maintained and clean renovated a few years ago. Staff is helpful and pleasant. Located within the hotel is a good Palm restaurant for steaks, Turner Fisheries for seafood, and Bar 10 for drinks. What makes this hotel special is the location in the middle of the Back Bay area. Within walking distance of Newbury and Boylston Streets, the Common, and downtown. Is attached to Copley Place, a huge complex of stores, hotels, and restaurants which is a destination on it's own. If you visit Boston during the winter you will never have to venture outside Copley it has it all. Only downside is this can be a very busy hotel when there are conventions in town.

This is a pretty good hotel in a very convenient location. I've stayed here a couple of times and have always been content. The rooms are pretty standard, always clean with awesome comfy beds. The hotel is located right near public transportation and is attached to other centers where you can do all your shopping without going outside. Overall, its a great hotel if your planning on staying a couple of nights in Boston.
This place has a zen feel about it. I don't know if it's the simplicity of the room design, the white on white bedspreads, or the fact that all the employees have their "passion" stated on their name tag. Whatever it is, I felt totally relaxed here.
Well, maybe I was so relaxed because of the beds-- they don't call it the Heavenly Bed System for nothing. This was the most comfy sleep of my life-- plush mattress, tons of pillows and a down comforter. Seriously, I want to live here.
They also consider their "shower system" to be "heavenly", but it doesn't really live up to the name-- it's really just a dual headed shower. Still, I spend about twenty minutes showering, and eight hours sleeping, so having the super-awesome bed wins it for them.

The layout was funny and the reception wasn't quite obvious. The location was nice though and everything being connected internally was a great benefit.
There wasn't much late night food in the area or on the in-room dining menu. Their room servicing was incomplete each of the 3 days we stayed there. There was no one ever to be seen - no staff no people.
We were in a suite on the 33rd floor though which made it somewhat pretty - but the bed was very uncomfortable!!
I love the Westin brand in general, and I very much enjoy staying in this hotel. I've been a guest here on 20-30 different occasions staying an average of 2 nights each trip. The Back Bay location is great both for business and after hours, and the hotel is connected to the Shops at Prudential Center. If the weather sucks you will be thrilled with this, as you may never have to step outside, especially if you are at an event at the Hynes Convention Center which is also connected to the hotel (side note: I love to walk in Boston day or night, rain/snow/sun).
When I am staying here I do my best to avoid the shops...especially Saks 5th Avenue...sigh. If you like chain restaurants you can find plenty in the mall, but I recommend crossing Boylston and enjoying the restaurants on or near Newbury Street one block over. I also grab yogurt and water at Trader Joe's, across the street (on Boylston) from the entrance of the convention center. A couple of blocks down from there is a Walgreens, too. If you are a Whole Foods shopper like me, there is one within walking distance near the Symphony (see my review), or a Shaw's in the Shops at Prudential.
I generally fly into Logan on the red eye from the west coast, which puts me in town ear-ly. I like to check into my room, change into my workout clothes, head to their gym for a workout, and then soak in the hot tub. Then I'm back to the room for a heavenly shower and a few hours of sleep in the heavenly bed....so good after a red eye flight!
This is a great hotel for business or pleasure, and if you are traveling on business you can bring your significant other along and they will have plenty to do in the near vicinity, never needing to rent a car unless you want to leave Boston. I suggest walking a block over to Newbury street and checking out the shops and restaurants there. Also, be sure to walk all the way down Boylston until you reach Boston Commons. The park is gorgeous in any season, but I'm especially fond of winter when the ponds freeze over. I like to walk out on the ice and check out all the layers of leaves at various levels in the thick ice...and there are cool little air bubbles that get trapped, as well. Boston is small, but FULL of cool stuff. Even the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum are both in walking distance...but, I digress...
The Westin Hotel Copley Place is my choice for all the above reasons. Staff are professional, but still warm and accommodating. Each visit has been a truly pleasant one, and I always look forward to returning. I recommend staying here.

One of the nicer hotel/conference centers I've stayed at. Great staff who were very friendly. Minor problem with the catering staff who made me feel guilty about needing a mushroom-free lunch (yes, it was on my conference application).
I appreciate the effort to make the pool into a "lap" pool, since I was able to get a mini-swim workout done. The health club was also well-stocked, clean, and convenient.
And yeah, location was ten kinds of key.

I was lucky enough to stay here on business, gratis, so it kills me to complain. Overall, swank, modern hotel with very comfy beds, and good location. But my gripes are the following: Double-headed shower, which emits less pressure than my one at home -- how is that possible? Service was hit or miss. Very friendly staff, but my tv went out and it took them 24 hours to replace. Room service took nearly an hour, despite being 10 pm and ordering just a salad. They failed to notify me that I had a Fed-Ex package, which I didn't find out about until I called. Conference rooms were either too hot or cold, and one of them smelled like mold.
Overall, pretty nice, but has some service kinks to work out.

We stayed here once when we came to Boston for a night of party and fun. Got upgraded to a junior suite with status and all - sweet. Actually not sure what the beauty of a junior suite is except for an extra lounge chair in the room... I guess it was a little complicated as we had 3 people and therefore couldn't have enjoyed the more luxurious king bed rooms. Overall, the typical "heavenly" experience. The thing with hotels in cities like Boston / NYC, I tend to think hotel prices are way expensive... especially when you're there for a night of revelry and probably only needing a crash pad for a few hours in the night!
I stayed here on New Years Eve with my wife and have to say it was a great stay! It is situated in the heart of downtown with a front door to all the hustle and bustle Boston has to offer in Back Bay. The lobby and check in process were superb and the staff was very nice treating me first class!! The restaurant in the hotel Bar 10 is a great place to grab a cocktail and a bite in a trendy typical Boston fashion with great decor and hip setting!! The rooms are very large and include a wet bar and additiona ammenities. This hotel has a lot to offer for the price and is as competitive as any you can find in the downtown area! I would highly recommend it, but be sure to bring your wallet, this as is any Westin is not cheap and especially for this location!
Exactly what you expect a Westin to be! It's the reason why Westins are my default hotel chain of choice.
One customer service oddity - we had leftovers that we asked the hotel to keep refrigerated for us overnight, and after being confused by this unique request at first, the lady agreed to send someone to pick it up and store it for us. A couple of minutes later, the manager called back telling us that they can't take the food from us because taking control of our food (which they didn't even cook) presents them with the liability of getting us sick if anything should go wrong or spoil.
I guess it makes sense that they wouldn't want some hotel guest's food in their fridge, potentially contaminating their food, and conversely, they don't want to bear the risk of having us blame them for getting us sick even if it's not their fault. It resulted in a wasted meal, but I respect the fact that their manager made a wise decision.

Stayed here last summer, while visiting Boston. They upgraded us to a suite, which was also really nice.
Although it was crowded, it was an AWESOME location. You are so close to all the cool spots in Boston. Also, it is a very nice hotel.
Westin really never dissapoints me and this place was no exception.

I used to work here, so naturally I hate this place. A lot. Slavery will do that to you.
I could tell you horror stories about cleanliness, bad service, poor food handling, you name it.
The thing is, though, I haven't worked here for about eight years. Lots of things change in eight years. So what I really hate are my memories, not the actual hotel itself.
For one thing, they've brought in the whole Heavenly bed/shower schpiel, which is pretty awesome. Most of the rooms have been remodeled, but some haven't. Service is service in a downtown hotel...you get what you get and hope it's a good day. Prices are always astronomical, but again, that's the Boston hotel biz for you.
The truth is that a lot of good, well-meaning people work here. But their hands are tied by the unfortunate realities of corporate management vs. union politics.
It's a nice hotel. It really is. Stay here, but don't expect miracles.

I want to live here, and I want to die here, and then I want my ashes to be divided into all the beautiful flower displays all over the gorgeous lobby areas.
Went for a conference, and saw all of the four bottom levels. Didn't see inside an actual hotel room, but I can only imagine how luxurious they are. My meal during the conference was tasty, but the coffee wasn't very good or hot. Loved the sausage. It had a great maple syrup flavor infused into the cylindrical tube of meat.
I was able to park in the garage across the street and saved myself about $20, so take advantage of that parking garage. On your stroll there, be sure to cut through the opulent lobby and enjoy the symmetrical fountains, flower displays, and elegant shops.

I have stayed here a couple times and have been happy with the location as well as my room and is linked to the Hynes Convention Center by a skybridge. We had a nice suite with panoramic views and could walk to most places, if we could not walk there a couple subway stations nearby.
One night I went to the bar and a couple gentlemen bought me and the girl next to me a drink and I later found out they were Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitchers (I asked for proof and one of them showed me their MLB ID's) they had just played against the Red Sox.
Did I mention that my cat Remy stayed here too? He liked sitting in the window sill looking out (I am surprised it didn't scare him we were on one of top floors).

Stayed here for a business conference that was in the hotel, and it was really nice. The bed was comfy, the shower was good, and the location was great. Close to public transportation, close to shopping, etc. The food (both at the conference and room service) was hit or miss. The eggs benedict was great, but the "spicy chicken wings" were neither good or spicy.
Overall, a good experience and I would be happy to stay here again.

I've stayed at the Presidential Suite in Westin Hotel Copley place. The room was really big with a nice parlor and bedroom, 2900 sq. ft. in total! There was a big screen TV and BOSE stereo system in the living room. The staff is really professional and friendly. The food was really good too^^
Starwood is an organization that you can really trust.
The location is really convenient, and is located in the heart of Copley.
If there is a concern that you have, the manager solves it out for you.
I live in the Boston area, but I sometimes stay here for a weekend getaway.
Their junior suite was also pretty spacious, suitable for max. of 2 people.
Trust me, it's worth it. You'll get "renewed" by the time of check out, as Westin says it.
Being Starwood Preferred, this is a property I have stayed at many occasions while in Boston on business.
The three stars is for location, location, location.
The rooms could use a once over, definitely getting shockworn, which is typical of convention hotels.
If you are lucky enough to get this at a good rate and want to be in the heart of Boston...pick this hotel.
stayed here a couple of nights before thanksgiving and overall was very satisfied. for those that take public transportation, beware the hotel is a bit difficult to find as it is attached to the copley mall that is attached to the prudential center. after you stay here you can figure out the location/layout pretty easily. it is conveniently located near the back bay T station and blocks away from Newberry Street.
the hotel has a seafood restaurant inside as well as a palm.
the heavenly bed is just that. it was amazing. the showers were good too as they had two shower heads. i did not uilize the gym or pool.
overall a good deal for what i paid and i'd stay again if i'm ever in beantown.
This is a pretty nice Westin. The location is great, the lobby connects to Copley Place, and you can walk on a covered bridge to the Pru Ctr. Aside from shopping though, the location offers great access to one of my favorite parts of Beantown, the Back Bay. Public transportation is a cinch. The pool and fitness ctr are very hotel generic...tiny, but clean!
My one complaint, these are the slowest elevators ever! Once you get inside one, they are actually pretty fast, but I guess the past two times I have stayed here, the hotel has been "upgrading" them. Eager to see if these improvements have been made...
This is the nicest, affordable hotel room that you'll experience in Boston. With prices that actual regular folk can afford, you totally get treated like a 5 star luxury hotel.
The guest rooms are very spacious, mostly because the building is built in sort of a triangle or parallelagram kind of way, so many of the room have unusual corners and therefore gives you more space. The bathrooms are huge and beautiful and I can see that they won't date themselves with their actual fine marble and neutral colors. Each room has different paintings by local artists on the wall which is a nice touch.
The linens are to die for on their sizeable beds.
The hotel staff for the most part are helpful and friendly and the room service is okay...especially for breakfast. They don't offer all the five star amenities, but if you are a family travelling or even a businessman looking for the best of the inexpensive, you should stay here. I prefer it over the Ritz Carlton and the Taj Hotels!

Never stayed here, but the bar is open until 3-4am, which is awesome for a town where normal bars close at 2.

Nice rooms but very standard. We were "upgraded" but it seems it happens to a good share of people. This hotel is ideal for its location -- indoor connection to Copley shopping, a block from library, two blocks from Newbury, five-six blocks from theater, etc. They have an odd lobby area.
No free wireless irks me to no end.
Yes, it's a big hotel with hundreds of hotel rooms. Yes, it's targeted to business travelers. That said, the Westin at Copley Place was still a great place to stay for a leisure trip. We were upgraded to an awesome corner jr. suite that had panoramic views of the Charles River. It's only 4 stars for me because the room decor was fairly non-descript and the amenities average, but I really enjoyed the location of the hotel. It's connected to the posh Copley Place shopping centre, and right around the corner from both the Back Bay and Copley T stations. I would definitely stay here again.

Our original plan was to stay at the Hyatt in Cambridge. We verified the reservation a few hours ahead of time. We called ahead to say we were going to be late. Long story, short... we wound up at the Westin because the Hyatt overbooked. The experience was great. The hotel is connected to Copley Square mall and has a palm restaurant in the hotel. We slept on a heavenly king size bed. I had no idea what this meant, but according to her it is a very high end and expensive bed. The hotel bar was swanky and hopping. The location is amazing, within walking distance of most of downtown Boston. Definitely a place to be in beantown.
The worst Westin you will ever stay in. I must admit that I still stay at it when I go to Boston but I only do that to get the Starwood points and the waterfront property is a little too far from my office. I think the management knows that there are a lot of people like me who know that they are not up to par but still stay there. Honestly this hotel is worse han the last Four Points I stayed in and the Westin is supposed to be a luxury brand comparatively.
The rooms are old, the service motto is "be abnoxious", the water pressure on the top floors (there are 36 and since I am a platnium member I always stay above 29), and there are things always broken in every room I have been (toilet flush, water bulb, and even hot water).
The turn down service you have request explicitly and forget about getting any complementary services.
If you are looking for a true Westin experience this is not the place.
it's poppin'''
Comfortable room with a great bed, good shower, and nice view. The concierge, despite being overworked, was helpful and gracious on a number of occasions. Adjacent to the mall, if you need anything you forgot to pack. I'd stay here again.

This is one of the nicer Westins I've stayed at. Great rooms. It was at a great location too. We walked everywhere from the hotel -- Newbury Street, Freedom Trail -- literally everywhere. The hotel is connected to a bunch of shopping malls too and these malls are very nice. Although I didn't go there, the hotel bar seemed to be really happening while we stayed there. Loud music, bunch of party goers. Hotel staff was helpful and courteous.

Comfy Comfy Comfy Beds! Great location we had a top floor with a view of the South End. I wanted the Harbour Side but... The elevators were super fast! The biggest problem was internet service which was really crappy!
This Westin is my favorite mid-range business hotel in the Boston area. From Copley Place, the visitor can walk just about anywhere and has a good number of local restaurants to choose from. The Westin's rooms are comfortable and reasonably large... and if you can score a view of the Charles River and/or the Bay from one of the upper floors, you might even convince yourself that the New England weather outside is as pleasant as it looks from up here.
