5 reviews for The Westin Buckhead Atlanta
Fabo hotel, even for a Westin.
Impeccible service. Delish food. Well designed, modern rooms.
Dirty, run down hotel, poor service. Feels like the Westin that Westin forgot. With so many better options nearby, definitely not worth the price. Avoid.
I scored a room here thanks to a friend who had several frequent visitor to other Starwood Resort points built up. It was a nice "get away in the same city" kind of place.
I wanted it to be a little more hip and modern, but that is what the W brand is for, not the Westin. But this was still much better than anywhere else I've seen in the city.
The room was great - light colored wood furniture, neutral tones, and a bathroom to die for. The bathroom is light gray granite everywhere with a big sink, a great shower, a Japanese modern sort of feel.
The bed. OH the bed. It was plush and luxurious, they don't call it the Heavenly bed for nothing. Comfortable pillows, plush down comforter, softest hotel mattress I've ever slept on. I didn't want to get up in the morning.
If you're traveling to Atlanta from out of town, it's located right in the heart of the Buckhead shopping area, right by Lenox and within walking distance of Phipps Plaza, Bluepointe, Dante's, and the MARTA station.
So Eloise had the Plaza Hotel, and I had the Buckhead Westin.
A series of extended business trips left me living here for the sum total of several months. In the spirit of exploring my options, I tried other hotels of similar star levels around Atlanta, but after a few far-below average stays elsewhere, I just set up camp at the Buckhead Westin.
I'll be honest; It's not an amazing hotel. The lobby is impressive, but not particularly innovative or astonishing, the service is good but not shockingly so, and the parking is expensive to an extent which is pretty much stupid. This is not Hotel Sezz. This is not El Tamarindo. It will never be a Tablet Hotel. But it's a good hotel, a great option for the long-term business traveler, and pretty good for anyone else.
Being a Westin, they have the "Modern (but not too modern) Upscale" sense of design -- a lot of dark brown furniture, and shades of beige and ecru. They have the Heavenly bed, which is nice. They have a very nice new pool, and new Reebok gym, with posters on the walls of exercises you could do with the rubber bands and exercise balls if you were so inclined, which is also nice. They automatically turn the lights out in the pool at 1am, which is not so nice, particularly if you're in the pool when it happens.
They don't particularly advertise it, but, they have a car service that will take you anywhere in a 2 mile radius for free. Their lobby bar is kind of sad, but the in-room minibars are decently stocked. Room service is actually pretty good (make sure you order from the Palm menu, not the Westin menu) and there are even several extant vegetarian options.
Their suites are excellent for my favorite form of business-trip exercise: hotel room bouldering. Lots of wall decor, bookcases, and molding.
All in all, there are many more hip or stylish hotels in the world, but many far less comfortable pillows you could lay your head on in Atlanta.
Pretty nice hotel. I mean, it's a Westin, so that's pretty much what you'd expect. Nice HDTVs in each room, pretty good decor. Double showerheads (that were not operating while I was there, probably because of the drought, but I imagine would be pretty nice). You pay about $11 for 24 hours of wireless internet, but because you're probably not staying here on pleasure, it's not too big of a deal to expense.
Given the ridiculous amount of work I had to get done while I was visiting Atlanta, I ordered room service a bunch. The food itself is as good as you could reasonably expect, and the presentation is excellent, but the prices border on the insane (as you'd expect) and they seem to conform to the cooking philosophy of "use a metric butt ton of salt and add butter." Other than that, the grilled tuna was excellent and even prepared rare, as requested. And the chicken caesar salad, although probably not really very healthy, was among the best I've had.
