Forget the fact that the bottled water in the mini bar is $4.95. Never mind the expensive parking... for this uber luxurious hotel features the most important thing ever... DOGS CAN STAY FOR FREE!! And not only do they cater to you the human, but to your dog as well. My pup was welcomed with a doggy basket complete with fluffy bed and dog bowls. I feel he had more fun I did.

The staff here is incredible. They were courteous and very professional. The hotel's lobby was kept very clean as were the elevators and other common areas. This is not normally seen at many area hotels. The Westin always has lit candles which provides just enough of that relaxing touch to make your experience truly pop.

Rooms here are OMGazing! Kept very clean and very spacious. The Westin offers these great beds which if I had more money would buy one in a nanosecond to take home with me. The room also boasts a dual shower, beautiful counter tops, and flat screen TV. I never felt so relaxed in my whole life. I didn't hear the sound of ice makers going off at 2am, children running down the hallway, loud business men on cell phones - nothing. I was at total peace and quiet. Throw in the black out curtains and you're bound for happiness.

Some departing words of wisdom:

If you're a resident of Arlington County you can get a neighborhood discount however this rate is only available on certain days.

Look for street parking. It's there, just look. Read the signs, though as some spots require you to move your car at 6am

Don't be afraid to ask for anything extra to make your stay nice. I had them make my bed twice in one day because I had napped all day and wanted to come back to a well made bed.

Avoid eating room service. While they were quick and friendly the food was below average but that's the restuarant.

Picked this hotel based on other traveller's review. They were right! This hotel is great!

Location: In the city of Arlington (Not within DC) but the hotel is few blocks from the subway so traveling to the city is not that difficult after all. There's a mall nearby the hotel (one block away) so it makes it easy for cheap dining options and there's a movie theater too. Starbucks adjacent to the lobby for those who needs coffee.

Room: Got upgraded to the Executive Suite in 10F. Have the view of adjacent office building. Its very spacious (1 Bedroom, 1 Large living room and a restroom connecting the 2 rooms). Living Room features DVD player, big LCD TV and a big sofa thats good to have a small party. Room features standard Westin Heavenly Bed and shower. However, bathroom is on the small side (same size as the regular room's bathroom I assume).

Executive Lounge: Features Breakfast & Evening Snacks. This is one of the few Westins that still offers Executive Lounge (Lounge is no longer required in US Westins). I had a very nice attendant and I did enjoy the time relaxing in the lounge.

Gym: Very good workout facilities with a nice Pool & Jacuzzi. Must be the fact this is a hotel/residental shared building.

Parking: Valet, didn't try.

Overall: Very good value as an alternative for those who did not want to stay in the DC metro area. Smoke free family friendly hotel that I will recommend to friends.

Stay here if you get a good deal (less than $100/night).

Spotless, generally well-insulated room with sleek / modern appointments. Bed lives up to heavenly hype.

Spotty / slow Wifi not worth $10/day. Free Wifi in lobby but also spotty (frequent drops).

Full-service Starbucks in lobby.

Enough walkable restaurants in immediate area.

Business center with two quad-core workstations, laser printer, and copier (expensive though-- try the Fedex Kinko's across the street on Fairfax).

Valet parking only, $22 a night.

Amply sized gym with treadmills, weight machines, some free weights, towels, and water. Classy looking lap pool (bright and clean).

Generally helpful and courteous staff.

Pleasant smell throughout the hotel.

This was our first stay with Westin. And I won't be looking to stay with them again.

The lobby was lovely with the lighting, the Christmas tree, and the candles. Moving on up to the 10th floor, we were highly disappointed with our room being in the high traffic area of the ice machine. And our room didn't even have an ice bucket...something we actually use on our trips! Being it was a one-night stay, we kept the room. Had we been planning to stay longer, we would have requested to be moved to a room where we wouldn't hear the grinding of that machine. This was our first time on Heavenly beds. Not fans of it. Too squishy. For the money spent, this should have been better. Let's not forget the $22 for valet parking and $10 per day for Internet connection. On the plus side, this was a short drive to where we were visiting in DC.

What's the saying? You have just one chance to make a good first impression? Westin missed it!

Almost 5 stars... it just didn't quite make the mark.

The room was well put together... nice design, nice materials. The 12th floor had a decent view.

The gym on the 3rd floor was well stocked and the pool was a nice place to chill... the pool room was a bit overly chlorinated for my liking.

We stayed three nights... every morning the room was made very well.  My biggest complaint is on Saturday night at midnight when we rolled back in, the valet was nowhere to be found.  There was no staff on the floor either... for TWENTY MINUTES!  I had to valet my own car and then bring the key upstairs to the person that finally showed back up at the front desk a few minutes later.  What a pisser for $22 a day.

So back to the good... in house Starbuck was very convenient and the breakfast my wife and I ordered on Monday before our flight was a pleasant surprise.

So, great beds... nice shower... overall pretty good service... easy access to all things DC and all things eastern VA....

A modern hotel with 'green' credentials and just enough polish to claim a four star rating but ultimately falling short on amenities and luxury. I've stayed three times and keep telling myself it will be my last. The hotel is certainly decent; but it's also generic, boring and lacking soul; and that makes it average and forgettable.

Here are some pluses:
-Relative easy access to the GW Parkway, Beltway and downtown Washington.
-Valet parking is $15 a day [or take your chances and park on the street]
-Ballston Metro stop is a short walk from the hotel.
-Some decent walk-to dining options in the neighborhood.
-There's a Starbucks attached to the lobby with free wifi.

Here's the downside:
-Rooms are quite small for a new hotel. Though smartly decorated - rooms are basic, uninspired and unexciting. Bathrooms are utilitarian, small and stocked with basic Westin amenities.
-Preponderance of breakfast trays littering the hallways past 4pm.
-Room carpeting feels like indoor/outdoor astroturf; it's scratchy and not pleasant to walk on.
-Rates are often out of whack. Some weekends they want $250+ for a room. Please, this is the outskirts of Arlington, not Georgetown, Dupont Circle or the west end.

I'm just a very big fan of the Heavenly beds.  I stayed here for 1 night while I was at a Christmas party in Arlington.  Very easy process.

Fabulous stay!  The rooms are beautiful, modern, and practical.  On one of my two stays here, I was upgraded to a suite, which was just really a great experience.  Breakfast room service was quick, hot, and tasty -- although I wish they had a larger selection, and it was pretty expensive (granted room service is typically expensive, this one was overly so).

I love the lobby.  I can't say enough about the lobby.  The candles on the floor are so warm and inviting.  The scent was great (aromas pumped into the hvac systems into the lobby are all the rage in hotels now).  There was infused water available complimentary (also very popular at the moment).  The front desk was actually three smaller desks so that the clerk could come around from the desk and direct me to the elevator -- love it.

Parking is expensive, but it's valet and its Arlington, what do you expect?

Loved our stay there over Christmas week - it was nearly empty - and we got a good deal on the room.  Would have loved to had a bigger room, but all the family suites were taken.  Kids loved the pool, which def is chlorinated heavily - and we liked the hot tub.  The hotel is very classy feeling...staff polite and helpful...Starbucks in lobby is a good thing.  PF Changs across from the entrance, near Metro station, easy access to highway.  Clean.  Would stay again!

Great new hotel.....I really liked the modern, minimalist atmosphere when I stayed here.  Its also convenient to the metro (2 blocks from the Ballston stop).  I just wish it were closer to DC, or I could've stayed here longer, when I was on my project there.
