7 reviews for the W Hotel
I reserved my room for the W online through http://cheaptickets.com so I didn't know if I was getting a nice hotel or not. I looked at the pictures and liked it but I though $111 wasn't going to get me TOO much.
I was mistaken. The hotel was hip, the staff was accommodating, and I slept like a baby. I loved the little touches. Like how it smelled great. The beach-ball on the bed. The lemon-sage bath products. The cool beach lounge.
Definitely going back to this one.
The (now) hubby got us a fancy room, a dinner reservation and an assortment of other unmentionables for us to celebrate our anniversary. The fancy room was at The W Hotel! I've stayed in other W Hotels around the country and was looking forward to staying in the one in my home town that I've heard lots of rave reviews about! All was great when we checked in and got to our room (with the minor exception of the person at the front desk giving us shit about staying in a hotel that is five minutes from our house). We enjoyed our room for the afternoon and then ventured out for our dinner reservation.
When we got back from dinner is when things went a little downhill for me. First off, I can appreciate the hip/trendy front area turned into nightclub except there was a freakin door guy to get in the door of my damn hotel and it was a fight to get through to the elevator (had we not been celebrating, we probably would have appreciated/enjoyed the front lounge scene). Also, the GIANT cockroaches lingering outside the entrance to the hotel (like ho's looking to get picked up for the night) were not cool at all and the door guys did nothing except chuckle and watch them run under the doorway and inside the front entrance (which is now a busy nightclub). GROSS!
Needless to say, we retreated to our room where we remained for the night! The room was wonderful and the spa products (Bliss spa) turned me onto an entirely new brand that I now use religiously at home! We didn't end up dining at the hotel at all as we wanted to wander around downtown since we had the hotel room.
All in all, I would stay there again, but it would have to be a better deal on the room and/or another very special night to shell out the money!
This was one of the best hotel experiences I have had. Everyone and everything was just accomodating. The hotel is in a great location, right near the gaslamp. The rooms were decorated with a retro beachy theme, with an iPod dock and even a little lap tray. There is a fully stocked mini bar and snacks also. A lot of times I find that the more modern looking a hotel is, the less they worry about the comfort factor. Not the case here. The bed and even the chair was really cozy.
They definitely went above and beyond to make me feel like some sort of VIP. Guests of the hotel have access to the roof bar with no wait. When I checked in, a staff member at the front desk was actually a classmate of mine from high school and we weren't exactly the best of friends so it caught us both off guard. When I got to my room, a knock at the door was room service with a bottle of champagne, chocolates and a card from her which was very awesome. That illustrates the level of service the W promotes, and the mentality of their staff. 5 stars from me.
I'm never disappointed with the W Hotel itself. The location of this one in particular is a bit out of the way from downtown. But, it's nothing a cheap cab ride can't fix. They also offer complimentary ride service, however it runs on limited times during the day and is first come first serve. The rooms are spectacular. We had a cool chalkboard which came in handy. I had passed out intoxicated, so my BF left a note on the board telling me where he went. How nice...too bad I didn't notice it until later.
I wish we had taken advantage of all the amenities at this hotel. They have an awesome rooftop beach bar and sunbathing area.
My only gripe would be the ridiculously loud lobby/bar lounge area. It reminded me of a NY hotel/bar blaring it's house music while trying to check-in.
As for my stay in general, it was awesome, the staff was very friendly and I have no complaints about their hospitality service.
Parking Note: Valet is a must, street parking becomes hard to find after business hours and weekends.
I went here for their Halloween Party. It was awesome. I love the decor here! Very modern and fun and each room was amazing. There is a patio that is set up like a beach with sand and tikki torches and all that jazz. There were bars all over and all the bartenders were pretty friendly. The front patio was set up so nicely too. Love the accent lighting everywhere, mirrored stairway, hallways, great comfy furniture, etc. After this party I'd love to check out more events held at the W and definitely stay here sometime. My friends and I loved this place!
This hotel was so accomidating. From beginning to end. Front desk, helped us with Rsvps to restaurants, got us town cars when needed, gave directions for when we drove during the day, just very helpful. The room was awesome and I love how our room had a chalk board , to write messages, my boo wrote out I love you in symbols when I came out the bathroom , so sweet. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was nice, the streams were a little weak in the shower, but thats how those water conserving green people do I will say I love the lobby and how it almost seems club like with loud music all hours of the day and night, not to loud but perfect , vibe. My only gripe is the martini's were 35 bucks just for 2 . Overall I'd come back here , even though I rather stay literally in the thick of the party scene downtown. This is a perfect spot to relax in.
Lots of great events happen here throughout the week. The rooms are super chic, the staff is impeccably professional and parking is easier than downtown.
