We had the wild mushroom ravioli in cream sauce and gnocchi with pesto sauce and we loved it!!! We also had the minestrone soup which was just amazing. Was not a fan of the grilled vegetable appetizer but loved everything else..
We had our dinner served at the bar area where they had live jazz playing and we had a great time! -

I came here for the new years celebration because it was the only place that had reservations available.
It was a nightmare.
No offense, but the average age for the crowd was about 50. We sat in the waiting area for about an hour until we came up to the hostess again and told her we were waiting to be seated. She looked at us and said, "wait, you haven't been seated yet?"
we sat down and I'm pretty sure the staff forgot we were there. the service was really slow, but there was one waiter who was literally, i mean literally, running from table to table.
But 3 hours into the dinner when we FINALLY got to our main meal. it was DELICIOUS! oh my goodness it was totally (well, almost) worth the wait.
we wanted to catch the countdown somewhere else, so we told the waiter we were leaving, then i swear in a matter of seconds our champagne glasses and tiramisu arrived.
Now i know it was new years and I know it was busy. I'm sure this place is awesome when its not a hectic holiday. The food was delicious (minus the oysters). I would love to check this place out when its not a holiday. -

Solid Italian food, especially for Palm Springs. I LOVED this place when it was St. James, I was hoping the same magic might still be around, and it was.
The restaurant itself is still very nice inside, cool architecture and a warm open area for eating. They also have a good bar which can address every craving one might have. The service was top notch, in every aspect, we had at least 4 different people approach our table for one thing or another.
I took my family here, which includes 2 young girls (7&6), the atmosphere was fine for a family out-ting. I do consider this place on the nice side, so thankfully my girls brought their manners.
We enjoyed the san dabs and the wild mushroom ravioli, both VERY GOOD. My girls enjoyed grilled chicken on top of pasta, nobody compained. For dessert we enjoyed a cannoli, which was ummm so good. -

This is the same restaurant as Sammy G's Tuscan Grill so I'm reposting my review here.
This one star is for the spiky haired smartass waiter with reading comprehension skills who couldn't understand his own menu.
As described on menu:
MARGHERITA PIZZA: tomatoes, basil
PROSCUITTO PIZZA: a margherita pizza with proscuitto
When the pizza came with only proscuitto on top, I politely asked about the tomatoes and basil. The waiter called me "honey" and arrogantly proclaimed I was wrong and the proscuitto pizza only came with proscuitto. He even brought out the menu (which read as I listed above)
Waiter (triumphantly): See? It just says proscuitto.
Me: It says proscuitto on margherita. And margherita says basil and tomato.
(Waiter becomes nasty and argumentative, situation spirals downward)
Was the issue of a little tomato and basil that important to me? Not really. But for a place this pricey I think I'd like to be treated a little better by the waitstaff, or at least not antagonized. To be fair, the other waiter was really nice, but for this incident we won't be coming back. -

Came here Saturday night for 3 birthday family dinners and had a very nice time. The service was very attentive but not abtrustive. Glasses of wine are very nice pours and the entrees were very nice size.
The prices are a bit outregous for their nightly specials... for example some seafood medoly soup was $44!!!!!!! HMM HELLO! I guess they didn't get the fax about a recession!
Anyhow despite the fact the runner got the tables mixed up with entrees he quickly corrected it and got the correct table.
I'll be back but they first need to lower their prices. -

Long ago this place was St. Martin, A little spot where once we would venture off Palm Canyon Dr. into a hidden nook where we could escape all of the douchebagery that somehow stumbles onto the streets here. The bar was rad and now YIKES. While visiting Palm Springs recently we waltzed in here. The cabby told us that it changed ownership so we walked over after an amazing dinner at Pomme Frite. What we saw sent us running.
There was a live band playing and a rather large group of 50-70's year olds dancing and it was just not for us. I think it's rad that they have live music and that people where having a grand old time. But, there was not enough room for us to make it up to the bar for the bar area was a mash pit. One in which I said F it... Lets go back to our place (the Ace).. Where we could be in a much more eclectic surrounding sans the senior citizens.
If your on holiday to Palm Springs and want bad music and flopping fish on the floor. Then this is your place. Try the Amigo Bar at the Ace for a much better experience.
3 stars for those people cus they looked like they were having fun well they were.. Drunk, loud Del Webb Sun City fun! -

Surprisingly Palm Springs is a tough place for Veggies. I thought with all the spas, skinny people and general healthy living it would have been easier to find vegetarian friendly fare. Not so.
Enter stage left, St. James, Tuscan Vineyard.... this place has a lot of names. We were diverted here after walking to Johnny Costas and discovering it was closed. My boyfriend saw the word "Tuscan" outside the building and turns to me, "Tuscan. That's Italian right?"
So we walked in figuring we'd at least score a decent plate of Penne Al'arrabiata.
On my third time through the menu, I noticed an intriguing entry I had missed before, "Vegeterian 'Veal' Picatta" The description listed veal made from wheat and soy meat. NO FREAKIN WAY!! I pointed this out to the BF, and at first he was like, "uh dude, I don't eat veal." I urged him to look again. He couldn't believe it either. SCORE ONE FOR THE VEGGIES!
We split that dish and the gnocchi with tomato sauce and it was soooo delicious. We were so incredibly happy to have a decent veggie meal after 2 days of crappy Mexican and sad salads.
So Yay for this place.

Yes, they are called Sammy G's Tuscan Grill located in the Vineyard on South Palm Canyon.
I have not been to this restaurant since it was Cafe St, James, and it is just as good. Soon after we sat down, delicious homemade bread sticks arrived, the thin crispy kind. Then bread was brought out with a wonderful olive tapenade. My Caesar salad was one of the best I've ever had - the homemade croutons were superb. The three course special for $22.95 was choice of salad, New York steak, and spumoni - all excellent. We were a party of 5 and everyone was impressed with their food. Oh, and the tiramisu was outstanding.
Service could not have been better. I'm definitely going back. -

I think there called Sammy G's now because we had a flyer for that. My boyfriend had some Hawaiian fish. It was $28.00 but you got to good size pieces of fish that was good in an amazing lemon & white wine sauce. One scoop of potatoes & asparagus. I have the wild mushroom ravioli and that was packed with mushroom but it was very good. We sat outside under a heating it was gorgeous you have a nice atmosphere and there's little water fountains. It was really nice. They have improved.

This place blows! After finishing off an awsome day of drinks and great food at our house we decided to walk downtown and get some desert and drinks. We sat in the bar which was packed full of sports fans who were watching the laker game. We quickly grabbed the only available table and piled in. My friend who apparently has a bottomless pit of a stomach as we had just ate dinner ordered the margarita pizza and a gin and tonic. I had an absolute citron and soda and asked for a water. The waitress proceeds to tell me they dont have tap water only bottled ugh fine so I order a bottle of pelegrino and share with my other friend who had ordered a vodka soda. How does a restaurant not have tap water? I mean how do they wash their dishes. This question plagued me so much during our stay athe the Tuscan Grill that as we left I had to ask the bartender and he said the water is so bad they dont offer it. Well isnt it up to me to determine if its that bad? Anyhow they annoyed me and being that I worked in the water industry for so long I was super annoyed that they said it tasted bad. Who are they water experts? Grrrr. LOL wont be coming back here for cocktails but the restaurant did look appealing.
