The Village Parfumerie offers the chance to create your own signature fragrance much in the same manner as is done in fragrance "labs."

This shop is quaint and a true family affair. Owners Wendy, Patricia and Jon - daughter and parents respectively - are simply great to deal with. Their passion for this establishment really shows and they are very enthusiastic about showing their wonderful "house" scents or helping you blend your own should you decide to try your hand at being a "nose" - in other words a perfumer. I do highly recommend this experience. You will sit in front of an "organ" - like the instrument, silly - and choose from a vast array of base, middle and top notes to find your perfect scent. Don't worry, there is a guide to help you navigate the multitude of oils at your fingertips...plus, you can always ask for personal "hands on" assistance if you need it. Best yet, bring a good bud and enjoy crafting together...that's what I did when one of my best yoga pals bought be a fragrance journey for my birthday a couple of years ago.

Some of my favorite ready-to-go items: Shantoung (no, not a misspelling, just the French spelling) scent for women, the Citoyen for men and the traditional french soaps that run 3 for $11.00 - try the Fruits Rouges, Violette and Magnolia.

For those of you familiar with the Cote d'Azur who have not been to the Parfumerie, this establishment is a "Studio de Parfums" of France's oldest perfumery, Galimard.
