Since weather in Atlanta was causing delays for my flight back to Cincinnati, I had to stay an extra night in Tampa. Since I was staying at the airport Marriott and didn't rent another car, I decided to dine in. I chose The View at CK's because the website said they have a champagne toast at sunset. Seemed nice, even though I was dining alone. So the website said 8:05pm-8:25pm and I got there at like 7:55pm to make sure I could get a table. No problem, there were only like 10 people dining. I got a nice seat by the window, and my waiter George was very good.
I ordered a California Roll which was small, shrimp Mac 'n' cheese which was very good but only had a few shrimp in it, sticky rice which is just sushi rice, not the sweet rice dessert I was hoping it would be, and a side of shrimp scampi, not worth $9 and was just ok.
There was no champagne toast which I was disappointed about. I purposely did not order wine because I was holding out for that.I don't know if they only do it with a full house or not on weekends or what, but it is the only reason why I chose to dine there.
I probably would only go back with my boyfriend and only for the view. It was nice seeing planes take off at night.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rick F.Chicago, IL245811711301Apr 1, 2009First to Review
Food: not so good
Atmosphere: Needs a remodel
Service: Good
Price: Average
The idea of a revolving restaurant sounds great right, not so impressive when it's only 5 stories high, I think I could have jumped and hit the ground. The place seemed a little dated.
I did get a complimentary appetizer from the desk clerk at the Marriott that was cool, so I ordered the Spicy Tuna Hand Roll, delicious. Then I ordered the Marinated Flank Steak with a side of Shrimp Mac and Cheese. I know I blew the diet.
The Flank steak was ordered medium but came out medium rare kinda ruined it for me, when I see any red at all, I lose my appetite.
If the bread and butter are the highlight of the meal you got problems......Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - M B.Dalton Gardens, ID039Apr 30, 2017
Lovely view and fantastic service. But so sad- the snapper just wasn't up to my expectations. Too soft and far too fishy!

Nice place for cocktails and to check out the view. The food is ok,nothing great, not bad though. The sushi I'd go elsewhere if I were in the mood for that. A nice place to have ad rink, watch the sunset whileplanes take off & land.

The staff could not have been nicer, and the view was delicious, even if I did sit on the static side. Sushi still masterfully done, though limited in choice. Just not enough customers to make it great, and not that I need it crowded to love it. There were some airs of old fryer oil and though the customer next to me loved his seafood, I could not notice that it looked not fresh.

Neat moving floor that goes in a circle. Slow enough so you will not lose your cookies, but very unique as the outside scenery changes, which makes it nice for sunset dinners. Although the food isn't the best I've had, but its decent. If your in the area and want to grab a bite at a nice place, I wouldn't just past them up, I would consider.

Best meal I've had in a long time and it was reasonably priced. The seafood omelet was fantastic! Live guitarist and singer who is terrific. It's a revolving restaurant so you get to see the airport and the Bay while you dine.

I have been frequenting this restaurant for over 25 years-we went Sat. 2-5-11 and the place was dead. Service ok, food not ok. The food and drinks were overpriced and substandard. We sent 2 of the 5 meals back but could have sent them all back. The cook walked around the place with dirty doo rag and chef coat-ugh-now we know why the food was not good including the key lime pie. I will miss this Tampa landmark because I still LOVE the atmoshphere.

Disappointed. View was okay, it's an airport at night. Not much to see, not even planes taking off at 8:30. Food was moderate. Tempura fried oysters had way more breading than oysters. Salt and pepper calamari is way better at Yummy House for half the price. Steak had a lot of fat and grizzle. Asparagus undercooked on one end and burned on the other.Thought it was elegant and dressed up. Walked in and people wearing shorts and Hawaiian shirts. Waiter was an old man with zero personality. Since restaurant revolves one minute it is dark and romantic the next it's bright and noisy with people sitting at the sushi bar in jeans. Dirty bus table sitting right next to us the whole time. Stuff like that should be hidden. Overall I would not go back

I have taken my family to CK's for many years and we have always enjoyed our food, the service and especially the revolving view of the Tampa airport and surrounding area.
Going to CKs was an elegant affair, staffed with prideful professionals who were all crisply dressed, spotless settings, great lighting, great music, food and service. When your check came you knew you were coming back.
Unfortunately I guess the economy has hit CK's hard. The food was poor, the service was slow even though our server was doing her best.
For a moment I thought I had been transported to a midnight roadside dinner and the only thing that was missing was cigarette ashes in our food. As the dinning area revolves you pass by the kitchen to view the dingy settings, disarray of pots/pans.nastily dressed cooking staff... uuugh, what a mistake! The pride and professionalism and all that it brings to a great restaurant, has left CKs.
A once elegant Tampa dinning experience has become a run-down joint cooking poor food served with little pride. In essence it has turned into a blue-light-special restaurant, catering to the much older crowds whom I can only guess think this is better than the nursing home dinning hall. To add insult to injury, they have the hubris to continue to charge prices which only the finer establishments in Tampa demand.
What a shame!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
