This time with both kids. Last time I only took the girl. Today, we had a wonderful time.
Also, we ate at Victor's Pub, just across the parking lot from the Aquarium. The last time we were there the service was so friendly and food so good we just had to go back. Needless to say I might just go back just for lunch. Well, not really, 90 miles is a long drive for lunch. But, I would recommend it be included it in any trip to the Camden.
I feel as though this bar fell short of the level of trendiness it was trying to achieve. The food is a little overpriced, and the menu had missing items a few times I've been there (typically the death knell of a restaurant, when it either can't stock or won't stock its menu items).
I would think that it would be busier, being close to the University District. The beer is cheap enough and the view is good. When full of patrons, it's kind of cool. When empty, it's downright creepy- it's big and quiet and faintly industrial-looking. Some tasteful partitions or indoor plants, perhaps, could clear up the feeling that you are in an abandoned factory clutching a ten-dollar sandwich. (Oh wait, you are.)
Went to Camden for business today and had lunch at Victor's. The restaurant is on the ground floor of an old RCA building with a great view of the Ben Franklin Bridge and the skyline of Philadelphia. It was overcast and rainy so the tops of the bridge towers were hidden in the clouds - neat.
The restaurant itself was fairly crowded and the lunch menu extensive. I had the Victor Burger which was excellent - especially the fries. Looks like a nice place for dinner or drinks since the bar is large with numerous flat screens scattered about.
Huge parking lot across the street which is free! Within walking distance of the Aquarium and battleship New Jersey and the light rail (River Line) passes right in front of the restaurant.
I know, I know... It's not in Philadelphia... but it's a lot closer than some of those Bucks County spots, you know?
So a few friends and I went to meet up with a few friends early on Sunday evening and I'd say this is the type of place to do it. Spacious, a million TVs (and they'll gladly turn over the remote), a decent menu (although I've never seen a menu where every other page is paid advertising), a VERY fully stocked bar, etc.
We had a ton of plates circulating... shrimp, wings, fries, salads, apple pie, chocolate covered cheesecake...
The fries were pretty good, but the desserts were the best, though. The shrimp tempura was more tempura than shrimp, lol, but the spicy dipping sauce was great. The teriyaki wings were better than the buffalo wings, but even they were pretty good.
There was a comedy show going on at the other end of the restaurant - dinner, show and open bar for $55 - so they muted the TVs, and the sound system there sucks, so they weren't using mics... that part sucked cuz we couldn't hear a thing. lol
A nice place to grab a bite to eat and drinks. Super skyline view of Philadelphia. Pleasant atmosphere and GREAT PARKING--lot across from restaurant is free!!!!!!!!
