I lived here for 3 years. This is a condominium complex, which means each unit is individually owned. If you want to rent, you'll have to walk through the complex looking for "for rent" signs or check craigslist. there is no leasing office in the sense that the management will rent a unit to you; you must deal with the individual owners.
The two bedroom unit had 2 floors. The first floor had the kitchen, dining area, living room, and 1/2 bathroom with washer/dryer. The 2nd floor had 2 master bedrooms, each with a full bathroom. I've never been inside a one bedroom unit.
There's a pool and small gym. The grounds are well kept with gardeners and maintenance people picking up trash around the dumpsters everyday.
Very dog friendly. I kept my doberman here for 3 years with little issues.
This place is not too well known among UCSD students, but it's worth a look. Places like costa verde and regents court feel like your living in a hotel, with long hallways and rows of doors. At the venetian, you'll feel like your living in your own little house. -
Review from Yvonne N.
Let's just say I'll never forget my first ever apartment! I lived in the UCSD dorms for the first two years of college and then moved into the Venetian apartments; my first cute little apartment, a step of independence!
The specific apartment we lived in was right next to the Arriba shuttle stop so it was VERY convenient, we were spoiled in that aspect. We were also fortunate to find an apartment with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances! It was gooorgeous. Although it was small, it was cozy and home-y. I'm going to miss it so much.
There were two master bedrooms and a half bathroom downstairs where a roommate lived in the living room. We lived like that for 2 years and although I missed having a living room, it was nice paying a lot less for such a nice place. It was still pretty comfortable. The only problem I had with this place was the noise. We could hear the buses every morning, cars zooming by, and skateboarders rolling through..but that's based on location. The apartments themselves are really old. They're remodeled so it looks really nice but the fact that it's still old doesn't get rid of the fact that the walls are really thin and sound sensitive.
There's a nice pool, small jacuzzi (weak bubbles(, and two electric BBQ grills. Sometimes, my boyfriend and I would have a nice steak dinner by the pool so we can grill the meat on the BBQ grill, it was amazing. My roommate and I had two BBQs at the Venetian pool and our friend is about to have his next one there..because their facility is great for a BBQ. The have a vending machine, sinks, tennis courts, and a gym! Everything closes at 10pm and the pool is heated!
There seems to never be anyone in the leasing office. Fortunately for us, we never really had to contact them. The one time I did, it was to rent out the common room. They require a $400 deposit and charge $25 for a night. The common room is one story and spacious but small. They have a huge table, two couches, and a pool table.
When I first moved in two years ago, I would always see security but now I only see them from time to time at night. However, I've always felt safe and nothing suspicious ever occurred during the two years I lived there.
What I really liked about Venetian is that it is kept clean. They have doggy bags so you can walk your pets around and they provide the bags for you to do the dirty work!
