Feeling super fat the day after Thanksgiving, I never wanted to eat again. Then, a friend called and wanted to meet up for lunch. I can only stay away from food for so long, and figured a place called The Veggie Grill couldn't do too much damage.
My friend had just returned from a road trip through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. As she regaled me with tales of delicous BBQ, my mouth started to water. Forgetting all about vegetables, I decided to order the Chipotle BBQ sandwich. Made with veggie-steak, Southern BBQ it certainly was not. But for a California girl on a post-Thanksgiving diet, it did the trick.
I generally opt for actual vegetables over fake meat products, but this veggie-steak was pretty good. The tangy BBQ sauce was delicious, although it dripped all over the plate, the table, my napkin, and me. My friend ordered the V-Burger with avocado. A veggie burger patty with all the usual burger fixins. She reported that it was good, though I witnessed her sandwich dripping all over the place as well.
The sandwich itself was pretty small for the $8.50 price tag, especially considering it was served only with a small side of red cabbage slaw. We split a side of sweet potato fries for an additional $2.25. They had some newspaper clipping on the wall claiming the best sweet potato fries in Orange County. I was skeptical, but they were really delicious. Nice and thick, and not too greasy.
While I liked what I ate at veggie grill, I do wish they had more actual veggie options, rather than so much artificial meat. The portabello mushroom sandwich looked good, but not particularly creative. Regardless, I do think I'll end up back here for another lunch.
Swooped in with my beautiful girlfriend for a healthy lunch today. Wasn't sure what I was agreeing to when she said she found a new 'healthy' place. Turns out I was signing up for a vegan lunch. I am not opposed to vegan, that being said -- it is not something I seek out. So you could call me skeptical upon learning this place was not going to be providing me with my red meat fix.
I ordered the carne asada and she had their signature 'V' burger. The meats were identical in substance, just different in form. Mine was shredded, hers was in patty form. I was pleasntly surprised by the flavor of the meat! Juicy and the perfect consistency. This place is on to something. My brother is a vegan who, unfortunately for his meatless ways, lives in chicago -- a not so vegan-friendly city. The vegan establishments his taken me to have seved me mushy tofu and bland bean crap. He is always complaining about how much he hates his vegan options. That being said, Veggie Grill would make a KILLING in aLincoln Park or a downtown location. I know he would fill them up to the tune of about 3 meals a week. I'm rambling, long story-short:
I feel healthy.
P.s. Loved the sweet potatoe fries -- baked and than lightly friend in zero trans fat oil -- FYI.
I am not a vegetarian, so I wasn't really sure about this place. I was really surprised when I went. The food is delicious and it definitely fills me up. Great place to go if you want to eat something on the healthier side.
If you go to this place, definitely try the Sweet Potato Fries!
I don't think i'll ever give VEGGIE GRILL a bad review. They are still by far, my most favorite veggie restaurant. I ordered my "regular": Carne Asada sandwich with Kale and a side of sweetheart (sweet potato) fries.
gosh, i love veggie grill....
This was the most delicious fake tofu meat that I have ever had. However, it is damn expensive. I didn't understand why everything was on a bun either. The chipotle chicken is so good and so is the carne asada. I would recommended this to anything who was thinking about converting to veganity. I just got to entrees with sweet home fries and drinks and it was over $25 and this is fast food. The place was packed and there weren't that many kids or super hippies here which was surprising. The staff was super friendly and patient and helped me choose from their list (it all looked so good). I would have liked it spicier though and I would have liked my carne asada on a tortilla rather than a bun, but it's all good.
What a great place.
A haven for those of us who want something yummy but low in fat, cholesterol, preservatives, hormones, chemicals.....
Tasty food with lots of great options (i.e. large menu). Nice iced teas also.
LOVE their food, and got fooled on a recent opening of a yoga studio in MB!
Have had a few meals, and got fooled that their food was real meat recently. Then realized how great their cuisine is.

My first reaction of Veggie Grill was I was going to be a sport and go, but probably not like it.… Read more »
i eat here anytime i am in the area. I AM SO EFFING EXCITED they opened one up in Hollywood and I cannot wait to get the time to check it out!
The sweetheart fries are the best s.p. fries i have ever eaten. Actually they were the very first ones i ever even tried due to my pure hatred for sweet potatoes growing up- my bf even txtd a picture to my mom who couldn't believe not only did i try one- i went back and ordered my OWN so i could devour them all to myself and not have to share! ha ha. The sauce they use is vegan just like EVERYTHING else on the menu and is by FAR my favey sauce to go with sweet p. fries ever.
I am a little wary usually on fake meat cuz the texture is usually kinda spongy or stringy but oh no way! not here! not in their place! I had the Bayou chicken sandwich and it was drool worthy. Like literally i thought i was eating real chicken that i have missed so much! So amazing great and perfectly cooked and seasoned.
I can't wait to try their faux asada and the wings!
Ive only exp. the chicken and the salads and of course the fries so next time i will def. go out on a limb and give the wanna be steak a try- i am SURE i will not be at all disappointed.
My vegan friend brought me here and was all excited because it wasn't a patchouli scented haven for people of his kind.
First of all, it's cute! Which was a big plus for me. I had the Baja Fiesta salad which I *still* dream about. It was delicious, filled with a medley of veggies and fruit that rocked my socks AND had quinoa in it. Which I am just discovering. I can't remember what my friend had. It was good but I am in love with the salad. Had a lovely beer with it.
Would bring my meat eating friends here in a heartbeat.
I really wish there was one of these more toward East LA! It always bugs me when people trash talk vegetarian food as being bland and and boring, places like this just prove that healthy food can be tasty!
I had the Santa Fe Crispy Chikin, with sweethart fries.... delicious, guiltless comfort food! The food is high quality, fresh, all around goodness. I later had some carrot cake, it was one of the best cakes I've ever had. It was very moist and the vegan cream cheese frosting was really good.
I highly recommend the Veggie Grill, to everyone, and hopefully soon they'll open more up.
pretty good veggie only offerings can be had at veggie grill. not only is the food pleasantly surprising, the service we experienced last night was impeccable.
not bad for an "order at the counter and the food is brought out on plastic tray" type place.
we each had the v-burger and split an order of the sweet potato fries. the fries, as mentioned by other yelpers, were darn good! they were served up piping hot with a crispy exterior and soft interior.
the v-burger was decent. quite palatable and the texture was reminiscent of beef. flavor-wise, i wish the patty had a bit more flavor but the onions and sauce they had on the burger really brought everything full circle
to finish up the meal, we had a slice of the carrot cake. i think this place is vegan because the carrot cake did not have cream cheese frosting. but it was darn good. not only was the dessert healthy, it was tasty. quite the combo i must say!
the lady who took our order at the cash register was very nice and came by to check on us during our 2hr dinner. plates were also cleared quickly and everyone working at the veggie grill were all smiles.
happy place, good food and healthy. a budding trifecta.
At first I was impressed, Chikin' can taste like Chicken, Stack can taste like Steak. But then toward finishing our meals, it kinda feels like... errrr... mayb better not to finish...
Sweet potato fries a bit soft.. if you wanna try a good one, go to Jack n Jill Creperies on 3rd St,
Oh my love.
I would come here at least 2-3 times a week for lunch/dinner, if there was one close to me.
It's like a clean fast food joint for vegetarians. Am I behaving or am I being naughty by eating here? I can't decide.
The layout is similar to The Counter, except you order your meal at the register. It's quick and easy and fresh.
Iced Tea Station - you can self serve. Score. Normally, I don't like pre-sweetened ice teas, but these teas were good AND low calories.
Sweet potato fries - I am NOT a fan of sweet potato fries because they are conduits of pure grease, which then in turn makes them almost always soggy or limp with that darkened oil stain. Mmmmmm.
VG knows how to cook a fry. They were light, crispy, and not an overdose of oil on fry. Dare I even go far as to say, they tasted *almost* like air baked with some oil tossed in for some extra flavor. Love.
The sandwiches are wholesome and hearty. I think I'd enjoy every sandwich on the menu. I didn't try any of their salads, so I guess the true test still remains.
Sides of beans and cole slaw - finished every bite. Delicious, refreshing, and the cole slaw had perfect crunch.
At the end of the meal, I felt content, fulfilled, and not an ounce of guilt came my way after eating all those fries.
I am so very glad we have VG as an option. No longer do I have to suffer with the other vegetarian options (overpriced also) around or have to pretend Real Food Daily or Juliano's Raw were ever good.
Peep the pix.
Location: within a shopping mall strip at the tail end.
Parking: Ample parking in free parking lot.
We have to order vegan for my poor little nephew when we go out because he is allergic to eggs, milk, and so many other things, it's easier to just get vegan food rather than listing it all. Veggie Grill is wonderful because the whole family can find something to eat there that we love, and we don't have to worry about anaphylactic shock.
Everything I had there was delicious and the prices are reasonable. If this restaurant were in Hawaii, where I live, the prices would be much higher. I had The Stack, a sandwich with a soy-protein steak that was surprising delicious and meat-like. My side was steamed kale with a yummy miso dressing. I love kale and it's hard to get in Hawaii, so I devoured it.
We also had a chicken sandwich, chili, sweet potato fries, and chocolate pudding. The fake chicken was not as chicken-y as my fake steak was steak-y; it tasted more like tofu. The chili was all beans. I prefer my veggie chili to have more veggies in it, like corn and mushrooms, and some fake meat in the form of soy protein nuggets. The sweet potato fries were as good as the ones at The Counter, and the soy chocolate pudding was surprising rich and chocolaty.
I wish I had some of those fries and kale right now!
After my yoga class at Yogaworks on Saturday, I was ready for some grub! Michael, my future brother-in-law, told me that I may like The Veggie Grill, so I headed there to check it out... he was right on!
While I'm not vegetarian, I like my veggies, and this place delivers! I had a tough time deciding what to order because everything looked pretty damn good. I went with the "Bali Bliss" sandwich (Indonesian styled tempeh, sauteed and grilled, lettuce, tomato, chipotle ranch) and added avocado. I splurged and also added a side of "Sweetheart Fries" - I cannot resist sweet potato anything!
I like the fast casual concept - I ordered and paid at the counter, took my # to a table and sat down... minutes later - my food was delivered with a smile! The only complaints that I have are these:
1 - if you list avocado as an add-on ingredient, give me avocado - don't give me a scoop of guacamole. If you're going to do that, call it guacamole on the menu!
2 - there was some kind of relish on the sandwich that wasn't listed on the menu either... I like to know what I'm"m eating and although I ate it and it was fine, I prefer to know what is going to be on my plate when I order!
Other than that, my meal was great... I'll for sure try to get back to TVG on future visits to LA. I wish we had a Veggie Grill in Phoenix. I see there are three locations to date in CA - I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that the next one comes to AZ!
This food is spectacular!! We brought our friend who is a huge meat eater and hamburger lover here and he was completely turned to the veggie grill side after his burger experience.
I have never had better fake meat than this place. They pile on the salsa, guacamole, great sauces and put a side of sweetheart fries (sweet potato) and I'm in heaven.
I recommend the spicy burger with seitan because it has a great texture and is not gooey like some fake meats can be.
This place is an all around safe place to bring your carnivore and herbivore friends - and that is something to celebrate!
One of the many things I miss about L.a.
If this place wasn't so dang expensive and chock full of calories, I would have gone more often.
The sandwiches were phenom -- especially the crispy chick'n. Add a side of sweet potato fries and that'll get you through the day easy.
The lemonade was outta this world fantastic. The cookies superb. Chipotle sauce was amazing on everything.
This is how vegan food outta be done everywhere. I wish this place would go national because the food is good whether you're a vegan or not. Lot's of the meat-eaters I knew couldn't tell the difference, and even if they could they still thought the food was awesome.
Just be prepared to lay down 12 bucks. Kinda rough, but it's worth it once in awhile.
I'm not vegan, but I do enjoy soy/garden-burgers ... and I'm open to trying new things. I love food ... so why not right? I had their "Carne Asada" burger and would give it 3.5 stars ... but my meat lover fiance had the Southwestern "Chicken" burger and really liked it! This coming from a total carnivore is a big deal ... so that alone gets 5 stars (I tried it ... very yummy!). We also had the "Chicken" nuggets and with the organic BBQ sauce, it was yum-o! They also have good hot sauce/salsa (not your typical "hot sauce" found at gringo restaurants ... Tabasco). I look forward to trying other things here and will post my updates.
Compared to all the other vegetarian places I've eaten at, the Veggie Grill is one of the best in the way they prepare the protein. The chickin' is really flavorful, and I've never thought Kale can be so tasty til I had it here.
However, the avocado on the sandwich is too small for me, and the chili is a little on the sweeter side, not something I usually prefer.
It's a little pricy for what you get, a sandwich with drink comes to $12 something, so when I try to convince my cousins to go again, she said "I rather have 4 veggie vietanmese sanwiches from OC" @@
I would want to come back to try the rest of the menu, especially the tempeh!
Wow! I totally grubbed - I'm a little embarrassed.....
I ordered the Santa Fe Crispy Chicken sandwich because back in the day I used to LOVE the spicy chicken sandwich at Jack in the Crack. The description of this sandwich (minus the guacamole) reminded me of my old favorite. I also ordered a side of the sweet potato fries and some strawberry lemonade. To make it plain, the food is incredibly delicious. It tastes just like REAL fast food.
Let me start by saying that this meal is not exactly healthy. I notice in some of the Yelp reviews that people describe the food at the Veggie Grill as healthy. Well, the faux chicken breast is fried and the sweet potatoes are also friend - so not healthy - but damned good. Okay I guess I didn't HAVE to order the one sandwich that is fried...
I really can't believe that folks in LA aren't making a bigger deal about this place, but I guess it is better to be in denial. Imagine that now that I've fallen in love with the Veggie Grill I am doomed to make the 20 minute (on a good day) drive to El Segundo. Thankfully they are planning to open a restaurant in West Hollywood in September. I will only have to suffer for a couple of months.
Straight up, this place is poised to become the In and Out of vegan fast food. They have all of the elements: a small menu, minimalist decor and a streamlined process. Also, the service is excellent. Staff is well-trained and hard-working. Maybe I should contact them about franchising opportunities....
Who knew vegetarian food would taste this great. =)
-A bit pricey for semi-fast food vegan food (meal for two people including drinks was $30)
-Fresh taste (I can't really explain it- like baja style I think)
-Construction of the food items are basically the same, except for type of "meat". So the flavors are pretty much the same.
-Carne Asada and the grilled chicken sandwiches were yummy! I recommend getting the sweet potato fries too!
-A must try place for vegan grill food. Soups, sandwiches, burgers and salads.
Hurry up and open in West Hollywood!
Every time my boyfriend and I are going near the airport it's mandatory that we stop at Veggie Grill for food.
If I'm feeling healthy, I go for the Chinese Chickin' salad. I didn't realize how good quinoa was until I had it in this salad. And their chicken product is really good, and really satisfies my craving for chicken.
Now, if I'm feeling naughty, I go for the Chipotle BBQ sandwich with Sweetheart fries. OK, OK, I know it's not that bad. It's still pretty healthy. But last time I had this, it was so good, and I ate it so fast, I had heartburn for about three days afterward. I inhaled that sandwich. The shredded veggie steak is so freakin' good. And seriously you could put BBQ sauce on anything and I'd eat it. And this BBQ sauce was perfectly tangy - a little bit sweet, a little smoky, all delicious.
They're opening a location in WeHo in a few weeks, and I can't wait for this good to be closer to me. I will definitely be eating there more often!
I really wanted to like this place I swear. I've been bugging my husband about coming here for weeks now, so Today we finally made the trip.
Hubby got the Bayou Chicken, at first he suspected that the waitress who brought it just got off a smoking break or something cuz the chicken patty smelled and tasted like smoke(like really bad smoke/cigarette flavor), but another guy in our party got the same thing and said his patty smelled like smoke too. on top of the bad flavor, the chicken was also luke warm, made it taste like a soggy cigarette butt. yuck.
I got the chipotle bbq, actually pretty tasty, but again i did not like the temperature of the food.
The only good thing that I liked here was the sweetheart fries, but i can get that at the counter in the same plaza.
What can I possibly add that 200 reviews deep hasn't said.
Since moving back to SoCal a little, okay a LOT heavier than when I left let's just say finding guilt free establishments have become top priority.
The Veggie Grill is one of them, although yes they do have your sweet potato fries and other belt busters the portabello mushroom sandwich I had with red cabbage coleslaw was a true masterpiece and I can see myself coming back for more on a bi weekly basis (meaning twice per week).
In a nutshell, it's awesome, that sums it up for me.
You don't need to be a vegan to enjoy this place. It's a pay at the counter and they'll bring you your food place. I had the Papa's Portobello and it was really delicious. The flavors just meshed so well. My friend had the Bayou Chickin'. And when we they say "it tastes like chicken", it's no pun. It really does taste like chicken! We also had the Sweetheart Fries with the chipotle ranch. Yes ranch... but it's not dairy. The sauce is wonderful! I was drinking up the strawberry lemonade. It's not too sweet or too sour. It's just right. I tried the Red Hawaiian Tea... it was awful. Tasted like medicine. So I went back to the lemonade to wash out the flavor of the tea. This place is a little pricey and out of the way, but I will be back. The service was awesome too! That's a big plus for me!
I loved this place so much that I raved to my co-workers about it and the ones who haven't been here before wanted to try it out. We found a perfect occasion to step out and eat here for a farewell/good luck lunch for a co-worke that was moving to another department.
SInce during last trip here, I ate the chicken sandwcih and the sweetheart fries. I decided this time that I wanted to try the carne asada sandwich and the chili for the side. I also decided to buy some carrot cake to take home and bring to my mom.
Once again, I found everything here delcious. The carne asada was very tasty. It had the same kind of sauce as the chicken sandwich. (I kinda liked the chicken sandwich better but the carne asada was good as well). The chili was good but it was a really small bowl. (I personally think it is more worth to add a couple cents and get the sweetheart fries).
I brought the carrot cake home to my mom and we split it. The cake is definitely a treat. A co-worker once told me that he got two pieces of this cake and only ate this for lunch. I can't blame him. The cake is great! It is not too sweet and it is very moist. Veggie grill also claims that this is a healthy treat. Wow! I would definitely recommend trying this out.
Veggie Grill you indeed rock!

Pricey? Yes.
Healthy? Yes
Fresh? Yes
Good? YES!
This place is right by my work and I LOVE everything on the menu. Sure its expensive, but you know you are eating good quality and healthy food. If you are not sure what to get, the employees are also very helpful. If I'm in a soup mood, I will always ask for a sample to decide which soup I want. I love the "chop chop" salad. All the burgers are very tasty. Even if you are a meat eater, you should give this place a try!
Porto-bell-oh-my.
Hangovers aren't something you should get from Portobello mushroom related sandwiches but I get them entirely too often. You know, where the mushroom hangs way over and past the bun (or other breaded confinement) and you end up with a poor mushroom to everything-else ratio. Bad news.
Veggie Grill, among many other things (like it's vegan/gluten-free/fresh/well-portioned grub people pine over), delivers a good PM sandwich, with no mushroom hangover. There might be an entire clove of garlic, curiously positioned atop the other veggies before I stack the top bun on but other than that everything on it was fresh and well-rationed making consuming enjoyable and organized. The way a sandwich should be.
The flavored iced teas (Hawaiian and Peach) were far too sweet and a little bit disappointing flavor-wise in contrast to everything else edible.
Still, prices were reasonable for such a green machine and my two compatriots equally enjoyed (and finished) their meals, leaving satisfied and guilt free (whatever that means).
Ultimately, as long as that big-ol mushroom isn't double the size of the bun (like it is at Salt Creek Grill, down the plaza) and the flavors are on point, I'm gonna be a happy camper.
Whether the camping is with real or fake meats is irrelevant.
Vegetarianism is a way of life that I've chosen to ignore. Even more specific, I doubt I can even make it through single vegetarian meal without craving the all too good meaty flavor. However, I am one for trying new things and the Veggie Grill is definitely a modern concept that I can now say I've had once in my life.
There's a pretty good selection of different sandwiches and salads, but the whole time, I felt like I was being cheated; that something very subtle was awry from my typical sandwich/salad. I give it up to this place for attempting to copycat the chicken patty, the burger patty and even sliced beef. However, for me, the texture fell way short and there wasn't any spice combo or sauce that could have really pushed the meal towards really being enjoyed. On the bright side, the sweet potato fries were delicious and when dipped in the chipotle flavored fake mayo, they weren't half bad.
I'm gonna leave this one for the true veggie heads out there, but for all of us meat lovers, surely its worth a try just once in your life.
I had a friend coming over that wanted to eat at a vegetarian place. Now, I'm all for healthy food but I was drawing blanks when it came to vegetarian. Yes, there is "The Spot" in Hermosa but I wasn't impressed.
My husband suggested "The Veggie Grill" in El Segundo. Now, my husband eats cookies, cakes, burgers & steaks. For him to say that this place is good, I'd say I'd give it a try.
My friend & I arrive there on a Saturday afternoon. The line is of a moderate length but it moves quickly. I liked the menu selection but I admit I was a bit weirded out by the soy "meat" products they had. Nonetheless I ordered the Grillin Chickin' Yes thats Chickin', not Chicken, like I said I was a bit weirded out but I went with it.
The food did take a bit longer than expected but not to the point where our stomachs were growling at us. It finally arrives, the presentation is great & the food? Yummy! It's full of flavor & it actually fools me into thinking its really chicken!
Overall I'd come back here again, the cashiers were friendly & knowlegeable, the restaurant was clean & the food was great. I'd probably come off peak for the time being as well.
Alright, there's already tons of reviews on here so I'll keep it real simple.
Dude, the Veggie Grill is so bomb!
The food is great! The last time I went, I brought my meat-eating mom. We ordered their "chicken" nuggets and she actually believed it was chicken lol. So, if your not really the vegetarian type, the Veggie Grill can be good for you too.
All the natural juices they have in the back are also delicious, but I kept it simple with the lemonade.
Service is awesome! Everyone seems so happy and nice. There was this one guy who would walk around all the tables and ask everyone how the food was. My friends and I made sure to tell him how awesome he was.
If you haven't tried it, go! If you don't believe me, check out the other 200+ positive reviews.
:D
OK let me start by saying that I'm a meat eater. 99.999% i have meat with my meals... i don't have to have a big o' steak every time but i do have something.
So, when I was pulled into this place i was mad... i didn't want to eat something that's a lie... I mean what the hell is Chickin?
This review is for people like me that think they can only have a meal with some sort of dead animal on it. Well, that's not true.. this place is great the sweet potato fries are awesome and the dipping sauce goes well with it. The sandwiches are made well and have great flavor and that's important because without the seasoning and spices I don't think I'd eat a fake chicken sandwich as much a real one that's plain.
As for every thing else... the place is always clean, the music they play is cool (radiohead, muse, etc) and the price is ok considering the food is fresh and not a pre-made hamburger
This is my favorite place to eat in the South Bay. The employees are great and so friendly. Ask them for recommendations about things because they will tell you what to add to your salad or take out of your sandwich to make it even better! My favorite is the chicken ceasar wrap with grilled chicken - with a little bit of lemon and their amazing salsa - it is incredible! You can get beer or wine also with your meal and the sweet potatoe fries are reason enough to try it. Considering it isnt a really nice restaurant or fine dining, and that it is vegan, I still bring people visiting from out of town (veggies and carnivores alike) to eat here because it is healthy, fast, and just that good. Definitely try it!
I love this place! Finally someone has figured out how to make delicious veggie food that is affordable and quick. My favorite is the Chop Chop Chef Salad. My husband and I eat here several time a month.
I like that there is a restaurant out there for vegetarians that attempts to also cater to mainstream meat-eaters. I am not vegetarian, but I do enjoy vegetarian food when its done well. The ambiance is nice, the workers are nice and it seems to have a good menu selection. However, I do have to say that the portions are small for the price and I have had much better vegetarian food from other restaurants that are not vegetarian-only. So, kudos to the restaurant for a nice idea, but someone needs to work a bit more on the recipes. I had a sante fe chicken sandwich, sweat potato fries and chili. They were just OK.
So I finally came around to using my $15 gift card last week for lunch. We get there exactly at 12PM, luckily we beat the lunch crowd and didn't have to wait too long to order our food. I ordered the Grillin' Chickin' with of course, a side of sweetheart fries. My total for both came out to be $14, yay I still have $1 for the next time! Everything came out all warm and tasty unlike my last experience here. I wonder maybe since I came for lunch everything is cooked fresh? Hmm I dunno but I enjoyed my complimentary meal and will definitely return when I'm feeling vegetarian.

This is one of my favorite restaurants, and thus far the only vegan restaurant where I don't miss my meat. Full disclosure: I am a carnivore, and will never give it up--but I also like all food that tastes good.
Veggie Grill was recommended to me by a fellow carnivore, and I only tried it because I knew his props were legit. SOOO GOOD! I highly recommend the Sweetheart Fries--aka the best sweet potato fries I have ever had. Their chipotle "mayo" dipping sauce is divine.
I usually get the V-Burger, and load it up with portobello and avocado. Also, divine.
I recently tried the Bayou Chickin', and it was pretty good, too. Very complex flavors. I don't care what it is, this stuff might as well be very moist, well-seasoned meat.
I also like that this place offers no soda, just flavored teas, unsweetened tea and lemonade. Very healthy. Agave sweetener is also a nice touch.
Can be a bit pricey, but whatever--worth it to me occasionally, and if you ask for it, you can get an extra chipotle mayo sauce for free.
A note on customer service: once, they forgot to add the avocado to my sandwich that I paid $1.50 for. It was late, it was a to-go order, and I wasn't thrilled. Called them up and explained the situation, and if I didn't mind, I could drive back that night or the next day, and get a $20 gift card. $20 gift card for a $1.50 mistake? Awesome. These guys are fantastic.
I've finally gotten over my resentment about the carrot cake, so it only seemed fair to do a 5 star update. I loooove me some Veggie Grill!
(Did this update have anything to do with the fact that they just sent me a birthday postcard entitling me to a free entree? Maybeeee...)

Folks, when a place has been opened for only a year and it has this many good reviews there's a good reason!!! For me, it's only the higher price that keeps me from giving them all 5 stars. I have absolutely no complaints about their food, service, ambiance, etc. They all excell. 1st: they have IMO some of the better TVP (textured vegitable protein) than most other veggie places - although not the best I've had, they serve this food quickly and always well-prepared and nicely presented. 2nd: the staff is uber friendly and always helpful. 3rd: I rarely talk about environment but I really like the vibe of the place, the apple green with orange decor really adds to the experience.
I've made it my mission to try everything on the menu at least once.
So, I've been here a total of 4 times already, well, since my first review.
Last time out I ordered "The V-Burger" which is a marinated and grilled veggie-steak burger, pickles, lettuce, tomato, onion, chipotle ranch, and a side of sweet potato fries. In essence, the "V-Burger" is your average traditional diner burger, at least in appearance. In taste, it's nothing special, and I rank it, so far, as my least favorite item on the menu.
The visit prior to that I had the Chipotle BBQ burger which consists of shredded veggie-steak, marinated in tangy BBQ sauce, with chipotle ranch, caramelized onion, lettuce, tomato. This one was a awesome!
Oh, and for dessert, we tried the carrot cake. Okay, this is my second favorite cake next to Wyld Thymes. Then again, can there be such a grade for carrot cake? Some would say that it all tastes the same. I would also say that you're a chavala if you think that it all tastes the same. .
