This review is sooooo very overdue! We are so glad we found Urban Paw back in 2008! Our kitty Spike is cranky, needy (wants warm laps!) and so darn chatty -- yet Emy was able to care for our little guy. He was so happy and well adjusted after our vacation :) Emy was even sweet enough to leave a cute pic of him for us on the counter -- which to this day we have posted on our fridge. She is a true animal lover and I'm so very glad we can rely on her. Urban Paw is our first and only kitty caretaker!

Emy has been watching Betty (our westie) since she was a puppy. Emy started off stopping by the house a couple times a day until Betty was old enough to join the "group walk". I have been home a couple times to witness how excited Betty gets when Emy comes to pick her up.
After joining the group walk, I really noticed a difference in how much energy Betty "got out of her system" during the day. And as a bonus, Betty has really improved in her recall and leash skills. Betty was pretty shy around other dogs, but since her group walks she is much better at socializing with other dogs.
Emy has definitely been a great find. It is a relief to know Betty is in good hands when we are at work. -

Our (somewhat particular) 10-year-old female pug loves Emy & The Urban Paw. Soon after we moved to San Francisco, we had an overseas trip coming up and I was under the gun to find someone to stay with our pug for the week. Enter Emy - what a find! Emy took great care of our little dog, who seemed to have hardly noticed that we left (a good thing). Our pug is now a semi-regular weekday group walker with Emy and loves going to Fort Funston with the crew -- a bit of perspective: this is a dog who *hated* going to dog daycare.
I would highly recommend Emy and the Urban Paw for pet sitting or pet walking -- she is extremely reliable and responsive and she is very attuned to each animal's personality quirks and foibles. -

I can't believe I was lucky enough to find someone like Emy! She has been walking my dog for over a year now. I could tell from our first meeting that she would treat my dog just the way I do. I have a crazy work schedule and she is always extremely flexible with my last minute requests. I love coming home after a long work day and my dog is still exhausted. Emy often stays at my house when I go out of town, and even though my dog is a bed hog I know she secretly likes to cuddle with him too. I always recommend Emy to other dog owners (even though I'd prefer to keep her all to myself)!
Plus.. she takes the most amazing pics that I often steal for my profile :) -

Emy took care of my pet parrot for a week, and did a fantastic job. Even though dogs and cats are her primary clients, she was a trooper and listened patiently as I explained the various eccentricities and behaviors that can make my bird difficult to handle and care for. She obviously loves animals and wanted to make sure that Pico would get enough attention while we were gone. It's pretty rare to find a pet sitter willing to care for birds, so I feel lucky to have found her!
She is very accessible and always got back to me very promptly, and even left us a very cute holiday card updating us on how Pico had behaved during her visits. Emy is a great resource for any pet owner in San Francisco. -

Emy took care of our two dogs Max and Charlie for 4 days in September while we were at a destination wedding. First and foremost she is extremely organized. She asked a lot of questions and had us fill out a very thorough form identifying everything she needed to know about our pets.
She stayed at our place for the duration and left the place immaculate and even took some beautiful pics of our two boys while we were away.
All in all we never had to worry that our dogs were in good hands as Emy has an attention to detail and love of dogs that will put you at ease. We will definitely use her again when we need someone to look after our boys again! -

Emy has been taking our oversize lab/greyhound mix out for about a year. She's reliable, communicative, and we've felt our pup to be in great hands. He comes back tired and content, making our commute-intensive schedule possible. Two paws up!

k, this is a LONG, OVERDUE review next to my 20 plus in the saved reviews section of my acct.
when it comes to your own pet its like your own child...though i don't have any of my own, i can imagine its the same. i mean really, who can you trust when u need a dog sitter? it's like finding the perfect baby sitter for your child...one you can trust, who's organized and a TRUE animal lover.
because of my heavy travel schedule for work last year, i needed a sitter for my little runt mimi...a 5 year old Maltese that needs ALOT of attention.
i decided to go with emy..it was a very VERY good choice and trust me if you're reading this far u should consider her already...however, i'd like you to read on for further details.
first off, emy wanted to know as much as possible beforehand and asked ALOT of questions about mimi...i felt like i was being interrogated by police back in the day lol. however, it was a good tell sign that i wouldn't have to worry and if that wasn't enough i remember filling out some describing everything she needed to know about mimi.
to this day i use emy for daily walks. since my travel schedule has minimized and shifted to sporadic meetings during the week i'm always on the go and sometimes at immediate notice....THANK GOD for EMY and her flexibility!! seriously, mimi LOVES her...sometimes doesn't even want to come home with me! WTF??!
real talk tho, this is the only dog walking/dog care service u will need. oh! she cares for cats too! tell her Alan referred u. -

Emy was a great find. I need last minute help watching my two cats and she came to the rescue! She is very professional and makes the whole process really easy by knowing all the questions to ask so that your pets get the custom care they deserve. She took great care of my kitties and my home and I plan to use her again when I travel. She also takes beautiful photographs of your pets while you are away to show how happy they are!

When the travel bug comes calling, I normally need to find a friend or relative that is hopefully fond of dogs. My "Buttercup" is a special kind of Shih Tzu, she needs the attention of a high maintenance lady that you would find in Pac Heights. Emy is able to provide the attention that she needs and mainly when they first met, she was quickly able to build rapport with Butter which is very important to me!

Emy from what I could tell was very good with my dog "dogo". She has a sheet where she tells you how the day went and I liked that she posted pictures of the dogs having fun at Fort Funston. Another dog-walker was also very supportive of Emy and her walking program.
She was supportive and trustworthy and I'd recommend her to anyone who is looking for dog-walking. -

Emy is just awesome! We had some anxiety leaving our 9 year old Lab with someone we didn't really know but she took wonderful care of him, so much so that he now seems sad she is not around! We had an adorable picture of our dog left for us on the counter along with a note as to how he was over the week which was very nice. She is very professional while caring deeply for animals and we will definitely be using her again!

Last Christmas, Emy was able to accommodate us on really short notice. She was really thorough in making sure everything was set before we went on our trip. A lot cheaper and easier than dealing with boarding, too!

If I could give 10 stars I would! Emy is an amazing dog walker, whose love for animals is apparent. She treats my sweet do like her own and she is very flexible with meeting our needs. She has a great facebook page, where she posts pics and videos of our fur-children playing at the beach. She recently went out of town for a couple of weeks and set us up with a great subsitute at the same rates. Her prices are fair, she puts safety as a top priority and my dog comes home tired and happy everyday.

Emy is amazing. Hands down. She worked our needs into her schedule at the last minute and then extended her care for our dog/cats another day at the last minute too. She took great care of everyone and our notoriously finicky dog even ate all her meals while we were gone. I recommend her services to anyone I talk to about pet care.

When we relocated to Park Merced, we had no idea who our new dog walker would be for our very energetic corgi, Spinoza. Another dog walker recommended Emy. What a treat! After meeting Spinoza and ourselves, we realized what a great find she was. Spinoza LOVES Fort Funston, and the fact that she took his play group there EVERYDAY was so great, because it meant he would really be burning some energy. She is also very responsive and always keeping in touch via text or email. We had a leak in our house one day, and she texted us just to let us know that we had maintenance men in our apt! And the fact that we could pay week by week was great when I was only working part time. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a very organized, professional, and trustworthy dog walker, and hope to have her as our dog walker for as long as we live in SF!

Emy is very sweet and professional. She took care of my elderly cat for a week while we were away. It was obvious that Sammy was well taken care of and my home was in perfect order (mail piled on counter, no mess from the cat food, litter, etc..). Emy took a picture of Sammy and that was a very nice touch. I'll definitely use her services again.

I'm still a customer several years after first working with Emy, and I'm still extremely satisfied with her professionalism, reliability, and willingness to work around my erratic schedule. She was tremendously helpful when I had to make multiple last-minute cross-country trips to deal with a family illness.

Emy had some big shoes to fill with our two cats! We recently moved here from LA where we had the same pet sitter for two years. From the very first email, Emy was patient with us, answering all of our questions, and extremely friendly to us and our cats. During her initial visit to our home, Emy established great rapport with the cats, talking them out from under the bed and even had them purring before she left! We feel completely comfortable leaving our cats in her hands. Working with Emy is easy as she quickly responds to emails and phone calls, has a flexible schedule, and is thorough during her visits. We return home to healthy, happy kittens which makes her modest fee a great value!

another yelp find. emy took care of my cat, spunky spice, while i was away and left me with a really cute pic of her. which i totally appreciated. came back to a normal cat, clean litter box and my mail- even when my mail key didn't work because i'm retarded and had forgotten to try it. doh! good stuff. i will use her from now on. thanks emy!

Emy has been walking our dog, Bodie for several months. She was willing to take him even though he has significant dog aggression issues (though he loves people). She has been a great resource for training ideas as we work with our awesome rescue dog. She is professional and friendly, gets along fabulously Bodie, and even our aloof cat quite likes her.

I am so glad we found the Urban Paw pet-sitting service. I know that when Emy is caring for our cats she is giving them the attention they want and will follow through with all of our instructions, and will even send an email update while I am away. It is also comforting that she has insurance for pet-sitting and given all of the above her rates are very reasonable.
