I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. I loved the atmosphere, the location, the decorations, and even the food was good. Not amazing but good. On a slightly more negative side (and the reason I took off a star) was because of their service.

It was a cold, slow, weeknight around 11pm. My two friends and I were seated at the communal table with 6 or 7 other empty chairs. The rest of the restaurant had 2 or 3 tables filled in total. We ordered food, chatted, ate the food when it came, enjoyed it, and then sat. And sat. AND SAT! Don't you hate when you try to get the attention of the server and they blatantly ignore you? We waited for about 45 mins just to ASK for the bill!

We paid and left. Not amazing, not bad. I'll be back for sure. I just hope that the service it better!

Drink up the atmosphere and drink up the drinks...but skip the food.

The gnocchi with bacon was solidly mediocre. The brussle sprouts with bacon were over cooked. The crab cylinder (it looked more like a soup can than a cake) seemed to not contain any bacon. Now, I understand that most crab cakes don't contain bacon, but it seems like a good portion of the dishes at The Tin Table rely on bacon as a culinary crutch so I was a little shocked at the lack of pork fat.

Overall a very mediocre dining experience; which is too bad because I would love to spend time in the warm glow of their dining room on many rainy nights. Guess this just means I'll file it away as an after dinner drink spot. Can't have too many of those!

It's taken me a handful of tries to get to The Tin Table for Happy Hour, and tonight I finally succeeded.

Break-down:
5 for space/atmosphere & service
4 for food & Happy Hour food menu

:: The Spot ::
So I've made it up those stairs a couple times already and seen pictures, so I knew I'd love the space. The additional things I learned on this visit include the bar-line seating area that faces Dahl Field and is perfect for people there alone.... and the "room" that's next to there and has about three tables. That space looked really nice and I really liked how separated it was from the restaurant's main room.

:: The Staff ::
Great the whole way through! They were pleasant, in good spirits, and checked up on me just enough. Both employees that interacted with me during my visit made sure to say something along the lines of "Have a great evening" as I was leaving. I like those little things...

::Happy Hour Food & Drinks::
I've been getting more into beer lately, and have learned that my preferred beer price (if there has to be a cost!) is between $2 and $3. The Tin Table HH menu made me very happy because the first thing I noticed was the $2 Peroni Lager. I'm also usually slow at drinking my beer, so that tall glass lasted me the whole meal. (Right on!)

Next I decided to try the $3 Shoestring Frites (w/ truffle salt). They weren't anything to sing or write home about... but they were a little crunchy, quite tasty, and quite filling. Unless you're a frite-a-holic, however, I'd recommend sharing that serving with a 1-3 friends. (I was a little sad about not being able to finish mine.)

When it comes to the fish tacos, expect that it can get a little messy... and that you might come across a bone. I only got one bone, but it happened in the first bite. Otherwise it was quite flavorful and the fish was soft. (The messy part was the juicy, leaky sauce... but don't get me wrong! I'm down with messy food. On some occasions.)

:: Conclusion & Anything Else ::
In the end I was very happy with my $10.80+tip dinner, and my only real disappointment was that I had not shared it with any friends.

The big surprise: Happy Hour goes 3-6pm. I walked in just after 4pm and left around 5:30pm. They were EMPTY when I walked in and there was only one full table and maybe a couple people at the bar when I left. Come on, people, Happy Hour is THE TIME to try places! GO! Even if just for their drink specials and some $3 frites!

:: Notes ::
+ To get to the bathroom you have to walk out of the restaurant, turn right, and walk down the hallway for a moment. It's locked, so you have to get the code from an employee.
+ Wheelchairs: I saw an elevator next to the door, so I'm assuming it works.

Came to the Tin Table tonight for the first time.  What a cool little spot.  I like how it's kinda tucked away.  No way I'd ever just 'stumble upon' this place if I were passing through the neighborhood.  Good thing that my friend's been here before and that she was leading the way ;-).

I liked that this was a relatively small place - made the whole dining experience feel very intimate and individualized.

Decent drink menu with lots of specialty cocktails.  And very original ones at that.  I think that if you'd want the whole experience of the Tin Table - you'd probably be best to sit at the bar.  We didn't - but I think if I were to come again on different circumstances, that's where I'd sit.  Seems to be where all of the action is - in a nice mellow way ;-)

My compliments to the chef on the Fish Tacos.  Excellent.  Not the best I've had (see my review of South Beach in San Diego) but excellent fish tacos nevertheless.

My friend and I shared a delicious spiced chocolate cake for dessert.  Excellent!

Liked the Tin Table very much.  On my continuing epic journey through all that is culinary in Seattle, I'm glad that this was my latest stop.  And it's a stop I'll be happy to repeat in the future.

Walking up the stairs to the second floor, I knew I must be in for a treat! It's hard not to love a space that is located above the street, in an unassuming building. I was surprised at how reasonable priced everything was: all the way from the $6.50-9 cocktails to the steak frites.

The stars of my meal were definitely the baked olives (red, black and green), the eggplant rolls, the shoestring fries and the black cod on a bed of shredded brussel sprouts and bacon mashed potatoes.... hmmm... seems like my whole meal was a star!

Has definitely been added to the list of Seattle must eats!

I made reservations and still had to wait for a table on a Friday night at 9pm. We had the steak frites, it was pretty good for Capitol Hill, but it's a far cry from steak houses I've been to in NYC.

Overall, it's a good place to go if you want comfort food. The cheese plate we ordered was nice and depending on the other diners (our neighbors were obnoxiously loud and drunk) it can be a nice place for a date.

By admission my review is somewhat delayed as my visit was several months ago. I can assure you my 5 stars are valid, but I won't be giving you nitty gritty details on the food as I so love to do. Just that you should go there and eat it.

I know we shared several of the smaller dishes and the steak frites was to die for. Ahh, but perhaps it was all those cocktails that have created a fuzzy memory. The Tin Table knows what they're doing behind the bar. I enjoyed a mean Caipirinha as well as the T3 margarita and several others. Back to sharing I was floored when we were actually seated at the beautiful tin table. The ambiance and beauty of the space is rampant, but what really elevates it is the very large community table. How very perfect for a) getting to know your neighbours or b) eavesdropping on your neighbours.

Lastly the prices are extraordinarily reasonable. Where I'm from you pay a significantly higher price at a place of this stature. The Tin Table is yet another reason to spend my time on the Hill when visiting Seattle.

Kind of reminds me of Ferris' Oyster Bar in Victoria!
My 4.2 star review is being bumped up because our server was dressed as a Blue Demon Luchadores. Granted it was Halloween. I don't know how she functioned in that get up, all sweaty faced and all. But we had a great time at the Table.

The steak frites arugula number was deadly. Deadly like a high flying double back side throat kick. And maybe a fake eye gouge thrown in for good measure. Our wrestling server paired up perfect vino for the occasion as well. By the end of that epic meal, I had to tap out.
Ding ding. I'm dun

This past week I went to Tin Table twice.  Once with family seated at the communal Tin Table and the second with my date seated at the bar.

I highly recommend the eggplant rolls and really any of the cocktails.  The cheese platter is plenty for two to share and the honeycomb was a nice suprise.  I'd pass on the veggie platter.

Be prepared for significant lulls in service.  As long as your dining with great company and have plenty of time it's not a huge deal.  However, if this is a first date or dinner with someone who tends to exhaust all conversation topics in ten minutes I'd head downstairs to Odd Fellows Lounge for quicker service and more lively vibe.

Ahh, shoestring frites and Cucumber Dry Soda. Would I be happy with this as my last meal? Maybe.

After a little wine tasting and a few glasses at Vermillion (thanks Dana!), the above combo of starch & soda kept me going. By going, I mean: I kicked out "Real Love" by Miz Blige at Purr Karaoke last night.

Had it been a Rock Band performance, I would have probably scored a 99%. I was spot on with almost all of it, the high notes being tough (I didn't even try). Who knew that those months spent in my room in the early 90s, lipsyncing to the likes of Miss Mary, Eric B Rakim, Naughty by Nature, and TLC would come in handy one day?

My parents, probably. I should ask them. God knows how many times I was asked to "Turn it down." Still they'll be proud... maybe.

Mary J and Purr-eoke aside, those frites and that soda got me through.

Tin Table FTMFW... again and again...

and again.

Overall, I would say that the quality of the food was excellent, unfortunately it was sabotaged by the service.  I came to The Tin Table for my 30th birthday, after hearing great things about it, and to be sure the food did not disappoint, however, I would be very leery of coming back given the strange treatment by our server.

After first arriving and being seated in an awkwardly placed table, we had to wait just a little too long before our server came back.  She then just said "you still doing ok."  Well, actually, I wanted to order a bottle of wine, which before I barely finished saying she somewhat rudely asked for our IDs, and then proceeded to card everyone at the table (whose ages ranged from 29-34). I know I look a little young for 30 and so does my wife, but clearly we aren't 20.  There are proper ways to card people at a restaurant and treating people trying to enjoy an evening out like kids trying to buy beer isn't one of them.  The bottle then took at least 15 minutes to arrive.

From there on the service was acceptable, but careless and aloof.  The completely disinterested manner of taking our orders was off-putting and disrespectful. I would say, that maybe our server was having a bad night, but honestly, I don't think that was it.  Her service was a true disservice to the excellent dishes we received. The worst came at the end of dinner.  For our table of 5, the gratuity was included in the bill.  Is this standard here? If so that is strange, or else did our server decide that we were just a bunch of college kids with fake IDs that weren't planning on tipping.

Last night we paid our first and long overdue visit to Tin Table. The rave reviews are well deserved. The staff was friendly and attentive, great space/decor, and awesome food. Having Molly Moon's strategically located downstairs doesn't hurt either.
We ordered the cheese plate to start. I was a little concerned that the chef would select our cheese, being that I'm a control freak and all, but it did not disappoint.  A glass of Malbec was a great match, at an affordable price of $7.  The Steak Frites were delicious, paired with those addictive shoestring fries and an arugula salad all for $15.
All in all, a great meal and good value.  We'll definitely be back!

Good recommendation for a dinner spot. No rezzies so we got seated at the park bar...good dodgeball watching spot! Took a little while to get the service rolling (perhaps because of our park bar location?) but after that it was smooth sailing. Love that they have Chimay on tap...gotta love that.

The food was really good. I'd recommend the cheese plate wholeheartedly. The chef's selection of 3 cheeses (a well chosen mixture of soft/hard/foreign/domestic/mild/pungent) and the accoutrements of honeycomb, fig, and pecans were awesome. Then went with the eggplant lemon ricotta rolls which were superb. Great tomato sauce and great lemon flavor. The fish tacos were nice too -- though I can't say we were blown away.

Went out on a limb and tried a the chocolate mousse with candied bacon for dessert. Now, we're usually not chocoholic dessert fans, but this seemed intriguing. It was adventurous, but left much to be desired. I didn't like that the mousse was cold and hard...but the candied bacon was pretty cool.

Overall a solid performance. I think the ambience in the main dining area would've been more our thing; maybe next time as we'll definitely return.

Really liked the dinning room and my burger was great.  The fries were more like those potatoe sticks you used to get as a kid but hot and much much better.  And my medium rare burger really really was - kudos.  But the wine list was uninspired which will probably keep me from going back again.  And a friend asked for bread and in a city like Seattle, they shoudl be ashamed for serving what they did - looked like an ala francaise unbrowned bagette.

This place is incredible.  The atmosphere, the service, the staff and the food are top notch.  A great place for a first date, 2nd date or anniversary.  I love the wine list and single malt selections.  I hear the happy hour starts at 3 and is incredible, but I can't get there in time.  Mostly, this is my favourite restaurant in Seattle.

We decided to go to an early dinner on Saturday night and also try someplace new. Upon arriving at Tin Table, the place was virtually empty. We weren't even sure they were open because no one greeted us for some time.
Finally the hostess arrived and we announced we were there for dinner. She gave us a condescending grin and asked if we had reservations. After we told her no, she announced it would be two hours before she could seat us. The place was empty!!
Needless to say we felt completely unwelcome. It isn't El Gaucho and it sure ain't Canlis. It's a restaurant on the second floor of the odd fellows hall. Shame... We won't be coming back, nor will any of our friends after we told them of this pretentious treatment.  However, thanks to this, we discovered Barrio where the food AND service were fantastic. So good things can come out of bad experiences

Originally, went to Tin Table with a friend who likes exploring food and checking out new places. I'd wandered upstairs to Tin Table a few weeks ago and was planning on getting the warm chicken salad and the eggplant rolls. Or maybe the beet arugula salad. But I really, firmly knew that I was going to follow-up with some Molly Moon's from downstairs.

Its a tough sell, Tin Table. Up a flight of stairs from some pretty good food at Oddfellows. Its different, but name and building don't set it apart from competition. I liked the sleek wood and spacious room. Diners aren't too crowded in the light-filled room. Yet it feels intimate. The thump of dancers feet next door isn't too distracting...or at least it wasn't when I arrived.

The first time I went, they were closed so we hit up Oddfellows and Molly Moons. Second time I made a reservation for a larger group. They've segmented the menu into sea, land, etc. I ended up going with the pan-seared halibut on asparagus tips, fava beans, peas, and beet greens.  The fish was tender but cooked through and the veggies were delightful, if a little sparse.

I think its an appetizers and drinks type of place, not a full-on dinner.

We had:
Asparagus, morels and egg (in a sort of buttery sauce)
Seared bluefin tuna (with bed of cilantro, radishes, Ginger, sesame seeds, and hot peppers)
Carrot soup purée (thin slices of Ginger)

Favorite was asparagus dish.  Morels made it.

Great atmosphere, sat at the tin table, literally, a sort of a group conference table with a glass covered tin roof surface.  Looking out on leaves fromtrees out front.

This lovely date eatery is located right across the hall from Century Ballroom and perfectly situated above Molly Moons!

Came here with Capital Hill dining club.  Sat at a real tin table!
With a group of 10 it can be difficult to have great service but that night was a little disappointing.  The waitresses kept messing up who got what.   However the drinks made up for the lack of service.  The food itself was "O.K." fries that comes with the Burger were over fried and cooked in old oil.  The truffle oil fries tasted as if it was cooked in regular oil and dusked the crap out of it with truffle salt, making it really really salty.  If they served the fries with an avioli sauce or something similar it would be a better combination.  Or just cook it in truffle oil as it stated on the menu.

Over all this place is really meant for drinks. The food was decent but the atmosphere was trendy and romantic.

Must try: Cucumber Cocktail and their cured olives... YUMMY!

Up and up the stairs we go on the hottest day of the year - so far - working up a powerful thirst.

The glamorous wall of champagne bowls and flutes that greeted our entry immediately put me and my gal-pals in the mood for some bubbly. And what a lovely selection of domestic and European bubbles they have!

A pixie of a waitress took our drink orders and didn't hurry us along. We took our time with the menu and ordered the olives and almonds to nibble on while we figured out the rest of our menu.

The food was stellar for the price. As of this writing there are no entrees over $15. My halibut was perfectly cooked. The hangar steak seated next to me was all blue-cheese and crispy frites. And tasty little bunny across the table? Yes please! But what is the deal with the bread? You gotta pay for that tasteless hunk-o-goo? No thanks. And why weren't the beets peeled on the otherwise fabbity fab fab roasted veggie platter?

The Tin Table is affordable glamor with a way too funky ladies' room. And I guess I'll just skip the bread from now on.

I recently went to the Tin Table with a group of friends before a night out dancing. I didn't go hungry, which was my first mistake, and I had gone on an extravagant shopping spree for the entire week prior, so I went not wanted to spend more than $15. Which didn't end up being a problem here, but I'll definitely be back to try more food...and more cocktails.

The decor is great - it's small and cozy and I love any restaurant with exposed brick...as I've probably stated in other reviews! Service was great as well and the prices are more than reasonable for a restaurant like this. I had a glass of prosecco (my current addiction) and the mahi mahi tacos (only $7!) which were delish...it's a small entree, but plenty if you aren't starving. All of my friends were more than happy with their food as well. One got the tacos as well, one a cheese board (beautiful presentation) and the Tin Table salad, and the other the Floozy burger and amazing truffle fries.

I definitely want to go back and try some of their cocktails and will no doubt be back for happy hour...very soon. I would give it 5 stars, but didn't feel like I let myself have the full experience, so will update after my next visit if needed!

K and I checked out the Tin Table and we were the only patrons when we arrived. I wasn't even sure they were open. Turns out they were and we had a couple beers. K ordered the Hooker Burger or something like that. Anyway, it was a burger and it was pretty damn fine.

This place is one of those servers dressed like servers, pretty boy behind the bar chatting up the geezers sort of places. By the time we left, there were several more patrons, so that was nice.

Polite, attentive, reasonably priced and exactly one notch classier than me. I will go back for HH any day.

I've eaten here twice and drank from the bar numerous times before my salsa class.  I have to say that the owner has done a nice job transforming this space into a nice little restaurant.

Overall the food is good and the price is decent.  I really like their Thai-style ribs the first time I tried it.  The sweet/tangy sauce they use to marinade the ribs in were delicious.  The meat fell off the bones and were so tender and succulent.  Mmm. Yum!  However, the second time I tried it, the meat was a bit dry.  Other things I've gotten here was the steak which were ok.  Nothing impressive.  The truffle fries were good when they didn't make it too salty.  I really like their pan-fried halibut but it was a special of the day so I don't know if it's still on the menu.  I guess the kitchen staff have days where they're really on top of it...and then there are days where they're a bit slacking?!?

The bar seems to be more consistently good.  I really like their wine selection.  I usually get the Malbec but their pinot noir isn't too bad either.

I'd give this a solid 4.5---nice atmosphere with stylishly laid out dining area, great food, yummy drinks, and excellent staff.

The specifics:

1)  Drinks
This is where I became de-virginized form Pisco Sours.  I had heard of these Peruvian drinks, and had been pining to have one---I just didn't know where to get one, until the Tin Table opened.  It was a decent cocktail.  For round two I stayed in the South America and went for a caipirinha.  This was a well-made drink as well.

2)  Food
We ordered a couple appetizers--one was a cheese plate, and the other were some fancy french fries.  They were both good, and served as a good start and introduction to the Tin Table.  Oh, and speaking of Tin Table, we were seated at a big square "tin table" in the corner of the dining area.  The table probably could have seated on the order of 20 people, but we occupied just a corner of it.

For an entree, I had the venison gnocchi.  Oh Snap!  This was yummy.  So the dumplings were on their own doing their own thing, but dispersed among them, in a sauce, were portions of venison.  A good combo to say the least.

3) Service
Our server was very nice and funny.  She gave us props for ordering actual cocktails---I guess most of her patrons had been going the wine/beer route that evening.  She also gave us little comments about how she liked certain dishes/drinks we ordered.

Another interesting thing occurred when I heard her talking to a group at a nearby table.  I heard the city of Waitsburg, WA (http://www.yelp.com/li...), and my ears perked up.  This is a little town outside of Walla Walla, and has recently gained some fairly cool dining/drinking establishments over the last couple of years.  Anyway, our server is planning on adding a hotel into the works in good ole Waitsburg.  So we chatted about the town, her plans, and my plan to check out the hotel after some fly fishing.

All in all, we had a very nice overall experience here:  nice environment, cool people, and good imbibements/cuisine.

Brick wall, exposed beams, creaky old wooden floor, candles flickering in among the liquor bottles behind the bar, a ballroom dance class happening across the hallway.  This place has a lot of charm.

I had the stuffed grilled eggplant rolls - even after reading that the portion size is small, I was surprised by exactly HOW small, although once I started eating, I understood.  They're filled with a savory ricotta cheese and are deliciously rich.  A bigger serving might be over the top.

I also had a bowl of one of the soups of the day, which involved razor clams, shrimp, a tomato base and fresh cilantro among other things.  I think the theme of the soup was Cajun but whatever - it was really tasty!

My dining companion had the pulled pork sandwich which was served with a cabbage salad.  I'm not a fan of pork so I didn't sample it but he was happy with his choice.

The service was friendly and prompt, but we were there on a weeknight and there were only a few other diners there and quite a lot of staff.  There were a few moments when I felt like the two bartenders didn't have anything to do and so they leaned on the bar and stared at us.  WEIRD.  (I mean, I know I'm funny to watch when I'm eating since a third of my food falls into the napkin on my lap and then I get it back out of the napkin and eat it, but still - go dust something why don't you?)

There are other things on the menu I'd like to try so I'll probably be back, maybe on a weekend so that I can get a different feel for the place.

Places like this should not exist - they cause me to eat WAY too much food. In a good way, of course... but a makes-me-fat kind of way as well.

I went here awhile back with the boy, and due to life being crazy, am just now getting around to writing a review.

We started with a cheese plate, which was cheesy and good. Then, because I was being a fat kid, we each had an appetizer. The boy had the asparagus with morels and I had the Tin Table salad (greens in a lemon vinaigrette - I LOVE lemon). And then it was time for our actual entree (like we needed more food). Graham had the gnocchi and I had a pasta dish with truffle oil... sadly, it doesn't seem to be on the menu anymore (or at least the menu online) and that makes me sort of want to cry. It was pretty freaking good.

And then it was dessert time. We had some blood orange gelato, which was good but I think a little too sweet for how it should've tasted. Certainly something I'd eat again, but not something I'd, I don't know, rob you for.

All in all, everything was tasty, and we had a nice bottle of wine as well. We left completely stuffed, and myself a little tipsy. I'd definitely hit up the Tin Table again, but because it's not the cheapest place ever, I can't make too big of a habit of it.

The Tin Table has a nice atmosphere, but their food and service are so-so. I ordered a couple of appetizers. The shoestring frites were ok, but the charcuterie plate was below average (bread that came with it seemed pretty stale, there was a hardly-noticeable quantity of duck prosciutto, and everything else on the plate didn't stand out in any way). My entree (pan-seared halibut) was ok, but again, there was nothing special about it. Service was pretty bad (it took about 10 minutes to get two extra wine glasses). Since the food was average and service was bad two stars seem to be appropriate.

I'm giving this place one more star. They were really on their game tonight. We had Monica as our server, and she was totally on the ball, very timely, and extremely friendly.

We also had a special dessert this evening, which was a scotch chocolate mousse served with caramelized bacon (or was it Canadian bacon?) and caramel. This thing was a flavor explosion of salty and sweet, savory and alcoholic sugar. Amazing!

So my friend and I had just gotten to Seattle, and after a week of road tripping surviving on Chewy bars and Sun Chips, we were ready for a nice meal. Our friend was staying near Pike and Broadway (which is a great area full of bars and restaurants), so we decided to give this place a try because of the tasty-sounding food and the reasonable prices.

The ambiance is very nice, dim lighting and dark woods. The service is good too; our bartender was very talented, and the servers and other staff were doing their jobs without being overbearing. Speaking of the bartender, the drinks here are fantastic. I highly recommend the Spanish Coffee at the end of your meal.

We started by sharing the Warm Chicken and Vegetable salad, which is pretty much a Chinese chicken salad. It was fantastic. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The vegetables were crisp and flavorful. The dressing was bursting with flavor without being heavy. Very impressive first dish.

For our entrees, we got the Chicken Cacciatore (special) and the Grilled Wild King Salmon. The Chicken dish was wonderful. The meat was so tender it was falling off the bone, and the vegetables in the sauce were simmered to perfection. At this point, we're in the 5-star range, which is very rare for me.

The salmon dish was a bit disappointing. It was a great piece of fish, and possibly the best piece of fish I've ever been served. However, it was undercooked; the server said the chef prepares it on the rare side, but this piece was softer in the middle than any fish I've been served at a restaurant. Additionally, the arugula pesto did not taste good; it's almost as if the arugula and the basil were pulled from the ground prematurely, because all I could taste was something that wasn't ripe yet.

All in all, I highly recommend this place. The food here is very good, and the prices are more than reasonable for what you get. I wish we were in Seattle for longer, because I would love to try everything on their menu. If I'm ever in town again, I'll definitely be back.

Still haven't tried the food, but those fries look amazing! My favorite cocktails so far have been the ones with champagne and the Greyhounds (since they use delicious real grapefruit juice).

Since we always go at the same time, we always get the same two bartenders. This update is to steer you toward the correct one, should you be confronted with these two:

Bartender A is a friendly woman with large eyes, short brown hair and a nice smile. She's sweet, efficient, and makes great drinks.

Bartender B is a skinny guy who wears tight clothes and has blondish hair cut in a long, shaggy, asymmetrical fashion. He will do his best to avoid your gaze, and then be slow and surly about getting your drink. Once he forgot the vodka part of the vodka-tonic and then argued vehemently about it when asked. It turned out the bottle was pouring slowly, so in some sense we were both "right" but really it shouldn't have come to that!

You walk up the stairs in this beautiful old building and are somehow morphed into another time and place.  A gorgeous glass showcase of glassware greets you upon entry and sets the tone for craft cocktails.  You then notice the brick wall, long wooden bar, open wood ceilings, round wooden candelabra and a large tin table set in a corner.   The large antique windows bring in the light and the railing continues the charm outside.  The seating is solid plank dark wood, simple and sophisticated.  You can tell alot of thought went into every detail including the clean white table settings and unique menus both in food and drink content as well as overall look.

We brought a bottle of wine with us, they have a $15 corking fee, that we were dying to share with our dinner partner but I had to start the evening off with one of their well known craft cocktails.  My libation of choice was the freehold sidecar, a beautiful brandy cointreau concoction with orange and lemon juice complete with a sugar rim.  Yes, it was a good as it sounds and was a perfect beginning to our evening.

The food, OMG, what more could you want?  Simple fresh organic food cooked or combined to perfection!  Okay so the Frites with truffle salt may not have been the healthiest of choices, however were the best Frites I've ever tasted.  Perfectly thin and crispy with a slight aroma and a delicate taste of truffle.  I balanced those out with the Arugula and Beet salad, the Arugula was fresh, meaty and spicy with a wonderful vinegrate that perfectly combined the beets into the mix and all was topped with a shaving of fresh Reggiano.

For our meals, my two dinner partners went with the Steak Frites of which also included a beautifully simple Arugula salad.  Their meat was perfectly cooked to their liking and the gorgonzola bacon butter was a perfect accoutrimant.  I had the Halibut special which had a nice sear but was moist and flakey.  The fish sat on top of a lovely veggie slaw mix of wilted napa cabbage, crisp hicima, spinach, cilantro and carrots.  All of which sat in a pool of herb butter sauce that brought all the flavors together.

We ended the night with the profiterols.  We had thoughts of ending with some Molly Moon's located downstairs but couldn't resist the description of these flakey pastry delicacies filled with a panna cotta gelato and covered with a dark chocolate sauce.  Now there is only one per order so not really meant for sharing and you won't want to as they are incredible!

The only drawbacks to our experience was a result of whom they share the bulding with.  At times our conversation was muffled by loud thunder of dance steps echoing from either above or next to us.  The other hitch was that there only seemed to be one wait person.  I realize this is a small space but I believe she was having a hard time providing the service I could tell she wanted to.

Trust me, this was not enough to deter me from returning.  This restaurant gives me reason to start coming back to my old neighborhood in Capital Hill.   Amazing fresh food, cocktails and ambiance.  The Tin Table should be dipped in gold!

It's already great, so SLOW DOWN on the butter and oil.  Other than that, GREAT.  (And yeah, no AC, so pick a day that's not hot).

We had a champagne flight to start, which was in cool little glasses, but not so amazingly amazing, champagne of all kinks and prices always seems to taste like champagne to me.

We enjoyed with a very fresh veggie plate that I think had a bottle of olive oil spilled on it in the kitchen.  Good, but really, you spilt the oil on it!

Then a steak frits, which again, happened to have the melted butter vat dumped on it.

BUT, it's all at such a great price, I should keep complaints to my self.  I'd go back and get something that sounded really lite and then it would just come out medium rich!

Yes! It was just as I had expected, maybe a little more. The decor was great (an interesting donkey painting) high ceilings and exposed brick. Staff was professional and courteous.

We went during happy hour. I had a cosmo, which was nice. BF had a non happy hour Sazerac. It was an impressive use of Absinthe. We started with the cheese plate which I really enjoyed. Also had the salt cod fritters. Not what I was expecting, but tasty. Friend had the Grilled Steak Frites which was cooked perfectly and the bacon bleu cheese butter was amazing! I had the HR burger with the uber salty fries. I loved it. BF thought there were too many and too salty but it was just right for me!

The best was the crab cakes. I think it was a special that day and we all agreed they were some of the best we had ever tasted. Overall, the price was perfect for the quality of the food we received. I will be back for sure, and you must go! At least try it during happy hour, you won't regret.

Three ways The Tin Table amazes:
1. Black Velvet. Great cocktail: Guinness, champagne, and chambord. Sweet and smooth, and three of my favorite things in a champagne flute!
2. Salt Cod Fritters. Earthy, salty taste of cod, fried up into a crunchy fritter nestled in a little bowl of tomato sauce filled with cloves of sweet, melt-on-your-tongue roasted garlic.
3. Grilled Bread & Fresh Mozzarella Spiedini. A skewer of complementary textures and tastes....Grilled bread soaked in savory oil with rounds of fresh mozzarella firm to the bite, little bit of salty depth of flavor verging on the richness of a fish-sauce in the dipping oil.

We shared several other dishes (great prices, remember?), including the Arugula Salad, Grilled Stuffed Eggplant Rolls (loved the citrus-sweet ricotta stuffing), Fish Tacos, and Minnie's Romaine, Crab, and Olive Salad. All food, plus two Scotches, the Black Velvet, and a glass of wine came to a mere $70. Wow.

What keeps me from adding the extra star? First, service was a little fast and not paced to the table; my salad arrived before we finished the appetizer, and my fish tacos appeared before I was halfway done with the salad. (Our server herself was great, so I think that's the kitchen's timing, or maybe they're used to people not lingering.) Second, I was definitely not a fan of the music. It would work well if you were across the hall taking a dancing lesson. But we weren't, so it didn't. Third, while the menu is varied and reasonable, it didn't seduce me. And I like to be seduced. By the menu, at least....

So since I prefer places to be a bit more intimate, sensual, and less stylized than The Tin Table, for a nice night out I might head elsewhere. But for drinks and small plates (hopefully the fritters and bread skewer)? Perfect!

What's 2+2=??? Come on you know the answer!! (Clapping hands)....Yah you answered right!! So if you have enough mental power to figure out that complex mathematical equation then you're smart enough to know that the Tin Table is a no brainer!! And you thought that new restaurant downstairs was hip then wait to you go up the stairs to the Tin Table. Because the space is very well put together and romantic.

We were promptly seated at a window table and then visited by the owner. She chatted us up and gave us some recommendations which we totally followed. As for an appetizer we went with the shoe string fries which were amazing. They were so light and so crispy it was hard not to eat the whole plate at once.

For our drinks M'lady had herself a champagne cocktail and I went with a Pisco Sour. The champagne cocktail was very tasty and my Pisco Sour was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! My Pisco Sour was made with Pisco Brandy, lime juice, sugar and egg white. I am a huge of cocktails made with egg whites and this one is now in my top five.

On to our meal, M'lady had herself the fish special of the night and I went with slow roasted pull pork sandwich on a baguette with fennel slaw. And was completely blown away! Because the pork was so tasty that it's served with no sauce and believe me it doesn't need it. It had a very tasty flavor and was completely satisfying.

Oh and our server Alicia was nothing but perfect. She answered all our questions and was extremely personable.

For dessert we went with two options since because 2 is always better than 1. The molten spiced chocolate cake with goat caramel and chantilly cream and the New Orleans style sweet potato bread pudding with brandy sauce were excellent choices. The molten spiced chocolate cake was absolutely to die and so was the New Orleans style sweet potato bread pudding. The spiciness of the molten cake was nothing but perfect and the sweetness of the bread pudding was supreme!

In the end our meal tab was extremely reasonable and we even bellyed up to the bar after our meal. We got to meet the designer of the bar and he even chatted us up about how he came up with his bar design. And I can never forget about the great service at the bar. Because we were serviced by two of the best bartenders(Jessica, Amber) on Capitol Hill. Our after dinner cocktails were nothing but perfect. Plus for all you Lagunitas fans they have on tap here!!!!!!!!

Again if you looking for a A plus meal and service then the Tin Table is in your near future!! I personally can't wait to go back!!! Cheers

This place is anything but tin! It's a charming, warm and intimate space (once you can find it!).

My BFF and I started our evening with some delicious cocktails. I had a pisco sour, which was just the right blend of Pisco brandy and lime, topped off with delicate, foamy egg white. BFF had an Amendment 21 -- a tasty gin and grapefruit drink. Incidentally, Amendment #21 repealed #18, aka, prohibition. Just a little liquor humor on the menu!

For dinner we shared a combination of small plates and an entrée:
- Parsnip soup: a creamy, smooth soup topped with mushrooms (Shitaki or chanterelle, I can't recall) sautéed in truffle oil. I'm in heaven with any truffle-tinged plate, so I was floating on truffley goodness.

- Beet & arugula salad: just the right amount of golden beets, touched with a light dressing that didn't overwhelm the peppery arugula.

- Grilled eggplant rolls - soft eggplant wrapped around lemon-thyme ricotta. A perfect pair!

- Gnocchi - little potato pillows accompanied by venison bits, chestnuts and sage. There was a bacon overtone that made this irresistible and by far, my favorite dish of the evening.

These plates were perfectly-sized portions, so we splurged and had the dessert special: an apple torte with a delicious merlot reduction. I also ordered the house-made limoncello, which was zesty and not too sweet.

The Tin Table takes reservations, and I'm glad I called ahead as they were turning away diners who dropped in. Tables are just far enough apart that you don't have to hear your neighbor's conversation. Overall it was a well executed, cozy, delicious and reasonably priced meal.

Kind of stumbled on this place while looking for a late lunch/happy hour in the area and walked in at about 3:30 or so friday afternoon just after they opened.  It's on the second floor of a very old building above Oddfellows and we never would have known it was there except for the suggestion we got to go there.
Very interesting place!  At the end of the hall across from the Century Ballroom.  Nicely remodeled interior with reconditioned brick wall, cool bar and yes, a tin table.  Very large one at that.  Kind of dark inside with windows on one end of the room.
My wife and i ordered some happy hour shoestring potatoes with the truffle salt and the charcuterie plate.  The shoestings were kinda crunchy like the ones you get out of a can, but very tasty with the truffle salt.  The charcuterie plate was good with decent portions of pate', duck confit, (good), pickled carrots, (yes pickled carrots) and bread that was delicious!
I had the happy hour Lagonitas IPA which was very good and for only $2.25 a pint.:)  Can't beat that.  My wife had the happy hour champgne, which was also very good.
Service was good and our waitress was very friendly.
Overall, it was a very fun and interesting experience.  We'll definitely  be back to have dinner and probably again for happy hour.
