Solid place, good coffee. It's more on the diner-side. Food looks great as well. Best of all is the atmosphere. The only hipster here is the guy working the register which is kind of funny b/c I think this place is owned by an Asian couple.

My wife and I visited the cafe today 1/23/2012.We ordered two chicken club sandwiches. The chicken was,we believe it was processed not very good at all.Nice setting. As I looked around I didn't see any sandwiches at 11am.My take was a lot of bagels and coffee.

Good coffee for a great price. Atmosphere can be nice but can be hectic as well.

For Melbourne (and in particular the downtown) it is the only place I would go to and hang out. Their coffee is not very good....a commercial brand as I recall the last time I was there in Oct '08....their food prices are too high but I do like salads there...big bowl w/ yummy dressing. I wish they would sell more locally produced beverages and homemade foods (stop selling COKE products and premade side items like potato and macaroni salads).
I appreciate the atmosphere and they are welcoming to local bands and open mic nights. Love the free wi-fi too!!! -

This is a great place to go for bagels, simple sandwichs, teas, etc. I love sitting outside to people watch!
-1 star for the price, they are WAY overpriced just to hang out there on a regular basis -

Good food, coffee, and company at this place. The range of people is very eclectic so as far as coffee shops go, if you want to get away from the chains this is by far one of Brevard's best.

Thank god for The Sun Shoppe & Cafe! You'd think on the "Space Coast" of Florida that there would be dozens of cafe's offering free wifi access, but this is one of only a few that do, and it's hands down the best! Drip coffee is $1.25 and refills are a Quarter! And it's GREAT coffee! The sandwiches range between $6 and $7 and the salads are $7. They put plenty of food on the plate and are very conscious of the appearance of your food/plate and every dish looks good. I've been here almost everyday for 3 weeks on this most recent and my last visit to FL., so I've eaten just about everything on the menu, and it's all good. A nice diverse crowd hangs out here and everyone has been extremely friendly.

My all time favorite coffee shop! I've never had anything here that I didn't like. i love the atmosphere. It's unpretentious and laid back - very cozy. The prices are what you'd expect of a local coffee shop, so a little on the pricey side. The decor is happy, suns everywhere! The staff is friendly (and easy on the eyes). I always have a great time at the Sun Shoppe. It beats House of Joe any day!

My dirty chai with soy was excellent. The veggie wrap was delicious, the wrap & hummus were tasty and fresh and all the veggies inside were fresh and crisp too. My wife said her coffee was delicious (and the sign on the register said they serve fair trade). She said the hummus, tabouli, & pita were great. She said the stuffed grape leaves weren't as good as she was hoping. Over all, everything was excellent, the staff were friendly and polite, and our food was delicious and served promptly. I'll definitely try to make it in again (if I make another trip to Melbourne).
Okay, I did end up back in Melbourne two weeks later on business. I ordered the same items- dirty chai & a veggie wrap but, this time I also got a side of Tabouleh salad. The Tabouleh salad was a bit too tangy for my taste. Also, the staff was not as friendly this time. Still, I would recommend this place, but I'm lowering my rating to 4 stars- service with a smile means a lot. -

Good music, food (even some beer), super-friendly staff, and open to midnight most nights. Avoid open mic nights if you plan on getting work done. About six small outdoor tables available (no outlets outside). 3-hour parking limit in downtown Melbourne before 5pm or else $25 ticket.
Unlike the other reviewer, I disagree that the prices are expensive. They are fully inline with what you would expect for a cafe of this style. In fact, some of the food is very reasonable.
Try the chicken caesar salad for about $7 which is delicious and quite accommodating. -

Been here a few times. The bagels are really outstanding, they're huge, they're VERY fresh, and they have a nice flavor. They're very different from the generic bagels many stores serve. Coffee is also good they grind their own via a 3rd party organic coffee house...

Great place to people watch in great area (downtown Melbourne). Diverse crowd. True indie coffee house feel. The food is good- I like the hummus. But I really love the coffee. Iced heroin is my favorite coffee drink; it gives you a kick like no other coffee drink!

I am rating this place 5 stars since I am remembering it through a patina of nostalgia. I only ever got the vanilla chai, which was sweet and delicious, and this cafe was our place of choice whenever a group of friends wanted to go somewhere in Melbourne that was open later than 8pm or so. They also have a lot of interesting board games here (or at least games that we managed to make interesting by virtue of our answers - Scruples, anyone?).
