* This track certainly is fast enough for a rookie like me. It is pretty technical.
* Uphill, downhill, off camber turns makes it tougher and keeps you constantly engaged. 1000ft straightway for passing.
* I signed up for the high performance racing school. Couple of hours basics classroom training. The instructor talks about maneuvering, oversteer, understeer, cornering basics, braking etc
* Then you head straight to the track. Couple of laps to get to know the track, braking zones, apex and couple of laps with the instructor (you drive he guides, he drives and tells you where you need to improve)
* I opted to drive their car (pay more) which is a celica GT track ready. You can drive yours (pay less) if you are ready to burn some rubber.
* If you spun or go off the track while lapping you can be guaranteed spending time vacuuming your car inside out cuz (remember its not your roadtrip with family to yosemite with FM on and windows rolled up)
* As part of the school they will also demo a quick skid pad, a cool 180 deg turn forward and backwards and you will get to do that as well if its any fun.
My racing buddy always tells me Speed on a track is not measured by mph but dps (decisions per second) Clearly I started off with 0dps

Fun track and relatively easy to get to. Speeds don't get too high, so it is a good place to get your feet wet and work on technical aspects of your driving.
Runoff is sufficient and almost all turns so little worry of things getting too hairy.
There are no berms or fancier aspects of higher end tracks. The pits have no garages and bathrooms are basically just the portapotties. There is usually a lunch truck that rolls through, though food selections seem to be limited to greasy items that would put me to sleep. -

Great fun track. Very technical. Not really built for my car (e93 M3) and more suited for a Miata or S2k. But fun nonetheless.

At only 1.8 miles, the little brother to Willow Springs sure packs in a lot for the space.
This track is small and tight. A great place to work on your more technical skills and hard braking. There's a super fun "bowl" in the back before you hit the back straight. Lots of tight turns and a few elevation changes to keep you busy.
Trackdays are super cheap here, but if I'm going to drive out to Lancaster from the Bay Area, I would much rather hit the BIG track of Willow Springs.Listed in: Motorcycles are Evol

Oh hey, just FYI, if you run this course going clockwise, it's a little more scary (for us newbies anyway) compared to counter-clockwise. There's a blind chicane that can fool you into taking an improper line, which can lead to disastrous results. I bent a wheel there my first time going CCW. I've highlighted the spot as seen in the following video (skip to the 2:00 mark):
