The Stoneleigh is absolutely beautiful! I stayed here the night before I got married and I felt like a little princess. Me, my mom and my maid of honor stayed in the Studio Suite with a Deluxe room right next to it, so we could walk in and out through the attached door. It was so much fun. The decor is modern Art Deco, it's so pretty. The bathrooms are really nice, I thought it was funny that they each have a scale in them.

The day of my wedding I had a hair and make-up artist come to our Suite. We ordered lots of room service, and had a blast. My mom used the spa to get her nails done and only had good things to say about it.

I highly recommend The Stoneleigh for a girly, night before the big day, giggling, crying, good time!

Not what was expected of a 4 1/2 Star hotel - Will not return!

When we arrived to the hotel on a Friday night, we were greeted by a large, loud group of young people just staring at us, maybe 'sizing' us up? The front desk was very friendly when checking in; however, when we made it to our room, we didn't have a mini-bar key & was told to come back down & retrieve it. We didn't sleep a wink our first night b/c of the bar across the street.

Next day, we repacked our belongings & moved to another room on Wolf St, which was much better. Although, the tub had good amount of mildew. I ordered "Gelato" & coffee from In-Room Service and received $.99 ice cream & watered down coffee. Valet is quick & most of the staff is friendly.

Traveler's tip
Reserve a room that is NOT located on Maple Ave, I guarantee that you will not sleep if you do. Our 2nd room on Wolf St. was quiet.

My experiences and photos (listed above) at the Stoneleigh occurred back in 2005...so please, anyone reading my review and checking out my photos, note that the hotel apparently has gone through an EXTENSIVE renovation and my opinions are reflective of a different product.

Please check out the other photos for a current reflection of the hotel's decor, etc.

Hopefully the next time i'm in Dallas, I can once again stay at the Stoneleigh and then offer up a completely different review based on the new changes...I loved the charm and class of the hotel I experienced and am curious as to whether or not i'd feel the same.  The photos look lovely though...definitely appears nicer...

At $300/night, I had high expectations for the Stoneleigh.

ROOMS:
The rooms are beautiful.  Modern, with red, black and grays.  Service was good.  However, there's no individual coffee-maker in the room.  *And* the tv's come on automatically, which wastes energy.

ROOM SERVICE:
I had the whole wheat toast, small pot of coffee, and fruit plate.  It was good, and prompt, but the fruit was only a half cup, and equal portions of cottage cheese and carmelized pecans.  Not as healthy as I'd wanted.

LOBBY/BAR:
Very impressive.  Beautiful people hang out here, and the bar is open till 1:30 or so.  One negative (well, positive, depending on the individual!) is that I'm pretty sure I saw a prostitute doing her thing in the lounge.  She and her client went upstairs before things got too heated, thankfully.

BATH:
Olive-oil based, and very nice.  They give you a bottle of bath scrub that is very good.  I love the bath products.

One major negative is that, some mornings, there was no hot water.  Well, the water was tepid at best.

SPECIAL TOUCHES:
Two chocolates on the pillow every night!

Overall, I deducted two stars because of no personal coffeemaker in the room, the no-hot-water one day, and I got stuck on an elevator there for 15 minutes.

My husband and I went to the Spa at the Stoneleigh Hotel for our 1-year anniversary last week to get in some quality relaxation.  We wanted to be able to do our treatments together, and the spa staff was very accommodating. They have a couple's suite with side-by-side massage tables, and we were able to book it with very little advance notice.  We both got deep tissue massages followed by a soak in a large jetted tub with bath salts and aroma oils.  We even got to share a bottle of wine as we soaked in the steamy tub - very romantic for an anniversary!

Just a note: If you are going to the spa purely to relax, I am not sure you should opt for a deep tissue massage. It is not a gentle rub on the back by any stretch of the imagination - it does what the name implies: works out the knots and stiffness DEEP within your muscle tissue.  There were times when I literally thought I was going to pass out from the pain of getting the knots worked out of my neck and shoulder blades!  The majority of the massage was extremely relaxing, though, and I am sure none of their other treatments are quite so painful. Even though I probably should have told her to ease up a bit when I thought I was about to cry, it was actually just what I needed since I had completed my first week of boot camp class a couple days previously!

The spa itself has a very calming atmosphere.  The locker room has a couple community-style tubs where you can soak before or after your treatment as well as two showers - a regular one and a "rain shower experience" (more on that later).  I couldn't bring myself to crawl nude into a tub with some strangers, but the ladies in there did seem to be enjoying it.  I took advantage of the rain shower after our treatments. It was so much fun - I was seriously acting like a little kid in the shower, splashing around and messing with all the buttons. The showerhead is enormous and placed on the top of the ceiling so that the water falls on you like rain. There are also side jets all along the walls that spray from all angles. It was a blast! My other favorite thing about the women's locker area was the relaxation room. This is where you go to wait for your masseuse to call you back for your treatment. It is DARK in this room...lit only by dim lamps on the walls. Calming music plays at a low volume, and the chairs are cushy with big warm blankets folded over them.  The room is aptly named - I relaxed so much that I think I may have dozed off a few times!

I only saw two areas that needed improvement about this spa. First, the robes they give you to wear before your treatments are just not comfy. They are made of some raw cotton type material that is just too scratchy. I like my spa robes to be plush and cushy. Also, my husband said that the sauna in the men's locker room was cold and took way too long to warm up. By the time it was warm for him, he had to get out to get ready for the massage. There is only a sauna in the men's locker area, which I found a bit odd. I am not sure if the ladies' area usually has one or not in other spas because I never EVER use them - saunas induce a panic-like reaction in me (I feel like I am stuck in a steaming coffin or something).

Overall, this is a great spa. The prices seem to be reasonable compared to the other upscale spas in town. I will definitely be back next time I am in need of pampering!

We went to the newly renovated Stoneleigh Hotel Bar last Saturday night. It was really cool! I actually liked the renovations... they were modern but a little retro. There was 7 of us but there was plenty of room to sit in the big couches. The room was a little noisy with the cougar talk and "boom chick boom chick" music I like so much but not so loud that the 7 of us couldn't hold a conversation.

Speaking of da "cougars"... this is THE place for cougar watchin'. I've never seen so many 1/2 naked 50 year olds full of collagen and silicone. Wowza!

I was actually named after the Stoneleigh hotel... my parents used to own a dry cleaner's across the street and voila! Leigh was born! I'm glad to have my namesake lookin' so good!

While this gorgeously renovated hotel in Uptown is definitely something pretty to look at, I have to say I was less than impressed with a recent visit.  I went for a group spa day so I wasn't enjoying the full services of the hotel, but I did partake in the spa and restaurant and wasn't that impressed.  (Sidenote: it's nice to be treated and since I wasn't paying I expected a little less and was just ready to relax) I had several instances of disappointment, despite leaving feeling very relaxed.

I arrived around 10am per my appointment and was told I'd be ready to start my pedicure around 11 so I had time to mingle a bit with the rest of our party and chill in the relaxation room.  No problem here.  The first problem was that the lady doing my pedicure said they don't do french tips.  I know that isn't true because another lady in our group had french - I think this particular lady assigned to me just didn't do them - which left me a little miffed, but I was there to relax - I moved on, picked a color and relaxed.  My pedicurist also failed to offer me a beverage as the others did.  She did a great job on the actual pedicure, but I think took a little longer than she should have.

Not 5 minutes after I sat back down in the relaxation room, my masseure was ready for me.  I was walking funny as is customary after just having had a pedicure and mentioned it to her, but I don't know that she could have expected that my polish would look so botched after the massage - which was fabulous, but I'll admit I couldn't stop thinking about my deep red polish all over the sheets of the massage bed afterwards and that I'd probably have to repaint my toes when I left.

I managed to relax and forget about the polish (or push it as far to the back of my mind as I could)  and enjoy the massage.  50 minutes goes way too fast!  :)  When I was done I chilled a bit longer in the relaxation room before heading upstairs with the other ladies to have lunch (yes - in our robes).  The lunch was great, but even though we had our little pre-selected menus in front of us, they brought me the wrong thing and while the Caprese Panini was delish with the Heirloom Tomato salad, I'm not a vegetarian and caught myself drooling over another of our party's Smoked Turkey.

I'd definitely give the Stoneleigh another try (hopefully on someone else's dime again), but if I'm paying myself I'd probably head somewhere else.

They need to update the photos on yelp... because this newly renovated boutique hotel is very hip.  Ran by Preferred Hotels and Resorts (they run a collection of some of the finest 5 star hotels in the world), I was confident I wouldn't be disappointed.

The moment I pulled in and valet my car, I knew I made a great choice.  The entrance did confuse me at first, but a bellman walked out and showed the correct entrance.  The lady at the front desk was extremely nice and had a pleasant smile on her face when we walked in until the time we got our key.

When I got in my room, oooo man it was quite nice.

NOTE: I got a studio suite, not a standard room, so I had 550 sq.ft. at my disposal.  I think I wrote this once before on yelp; I'm spoiled by large Vegas Casino Hotels (frequent there a lot)... I tend to get comped in large rooms during my stay in Vegas.  And ever since my first Vegas visit,  I really hate staying in rooms smaller then 500 sqft.  The price of the room is comparable to any other luxury hotel of that caliber.

I just love the modern art deco design in this room.. the bed & linens was nice, comfortable, luxurious and plush.  Being that everything is new, the same things can be said of the towels as well.

There were lots of floor to ceiling windows that made this room a plus and a minus for me.  I just like any room with floor to ceiling windows, but if you don't have curtains that can adequately block out that sun in the morning... that's a big minus in my book.  That was the only drawback on the room.  I like too sleep in, and not be awaken up by the sun.  It had a big walk-in closet at my disposal... too bad I only had a duffel bag full of clothes. Hehe  Otherwise I'd definitely use it.

The restroom was squeaky nice and leaves out Baronessa Cali Oliva as your bath accessories.  Me likey likey... especially when you use Kohler as your plumbing, faucets and fixtures.

The coolest feature of this room is that their's a console, on a dresser, that swivels 180 degrees to showcase a high-definition flat screen 42" TV.  You can view it either at the seating area or from your bed.  Another plus for me.

I didn't use any of the services, other then valet, and amenities of the Hotel.  So I won't comment on that... however, they don't have a pool yet... they said it won't be completed till 2009.  NOT GOOD AT ALL!!!  My special lady friend that accompanied me to Dallas had brought with her a bikini that I was looking forward to seeing her in.  *sigh*  I never got to see her wear it so that's why I'm deducting a STAR!!!

Like others have stated, this place definitely has that old world charm and history.  I just don't like sleeping in a old fashioned historic place.  I stayed here for almost a full week due to a business trip.  I checked in late at night to the hotel and was solely looking forward to a nice cozy bed to crawl into.

All that old world style and appeal transmuted into a different personality my first night.  The nice tree that provided shelter from the sun exposed window is now using its ominous and bare branch to rap against the glass with the help of the howling wind.

Regardless of the differences, the crimson carpet and regal wall trimmings look far to reminiscent of the hallway decor of The Shining.  Feng Shui finds no peace in my spacious hotel room as I am forced to sleep on my back waiting for the inevitable "Here's Johnny!" rampaging though my front door.

The TV is on my left beside is now for some reason too alarmingly close.  I regret thinking about the movie, Poltergeist, at that moment.  To my right is the door to the kitchenette and even though I closed it fully, it continued to creek up throughout the night.  In the morning, the door was halfway open!

And just before I entered a state of REM, my fidgety brain starts to wonder why there are so many closets and doors in my hotel room.  Three closets, the front door, bathroom door and kitchenette door.  Why the heck are there so many doors facing me?  It's hard to fixate on one comfy sleeping position as you keep tabs on which door the boogey man will come out of.

The only way to combat the paranoia was to skip dinner and head straight to the bars after the 10 hour work days.

It's a great hotel (during the day), but I think I'll be staying at the Doubletree next time I'm in Dallas.

The newly renovated bar is Beautiful! Everything is so shiny here. The bright green and black chandeliers, silver upholstered furniture, and even the wall paper and stationary are shimmery. The drinks are amazing. Try the Bolla-tini. The bartenders are friendly and experienced. A lot of the staff recently came from Austin and have a strong loyalty to the new owner. The staff makes everyone feel welcome from the Austinite in Jeans to the old money Dallas socialite. Chef Bull also offers a mean brunch. Try the Texas Benedict with Braised Short Ribs. Holy crap!
It is definitely pricey but you get 5 star service and 5 star food in return. I've never experienced that level of service/food for Breakfast!
If you have not experienced this level of service for Dinner because you can't afford it, I would hands down recommend trying Bolla for breakfast or brunch instead.
This hotel gets 4 stars because of the guest rooms. They are very nice, but not as innovative or creative as they could be. You can almost tell this is where they cut corners to meet budgets and to compensate for the rest of the beautiful property. This is not uncommon in the industry.
Regardless, I look forward to staying here again soon.

This is simply not a luxury hotel.  The beds are small and barely elevated off the ground.  The bathrooms are tough places to shower and defecate.  I will say that the interior is very nice, room service is reasonably priced and the cafe is great.  I stayed here because it cost less than $100/night on priceline and couldn't pick a better place because I knew virtually nothing about Dallas.  I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you the price is right or you are hard up for a warm place to lay your head.  The Stoneleigh is located in a pretty cool neighborhood and plenty of destinations, but just not downtown, are within walking distance of the hotel.

IF you like the Old World charm - this place is for you!  The rooms are huge and spacious-- decorated in English furniture and tapestry.  Its close to Turtle Creek and Uptown and Oaklawn- for clubbing and shopping...AND Sushi at the Stoneleigh is just downstairs :-)  Courteous and knowledgeable staff!
